[Music] the site is located within the breeder river valley at the foothills of the vayoug mountain range the building that we inherited on the site was a ruin of the 1927 on us all we then suggested that that building be brought back to life be restored and rebuilt and that that building should form the focus of the new school building complex we ended up with a building with the landscape partly pulled over the building so with planted roofs and fine bores re-established the school is arranged along four different wings and the four wings come together
in the central heart at the discovery center it's a multi-purpose space where there's access to wi-fi computer workstations audio visual equipment we have special classrooms needle room and the woodwork and also the science room that wasn't there in the past we believe that rural schools can deliver learners with a world-class education there is a running track all over the site an exercise playing field there's an astroturf teachers can reference the green principles from the solar panels on the roof to the wind turbine all the rain water is harvested from the roofs all of that's collected
in a large rainwater tank underneath the building the water is then used to irrigate all the landscaping around the building so there's an orchard of lemon and orange trees and there's also a vegetable garden it is heartwarming to see how much the learners and the staff enjoy the school and use it with respect and pride the other white element that forms part of the school building ensemble is the wind turbine tower and water tower which is a conical shape so there's the link with the past on the one side and the link with the future
on the other side and in between is this piece of architecture that's almost become part of the landscape [Music] and i hope we can do our utmost best so that the kids here receive the best education that they need [Music] the project showcase how 21st century technologies can be employed in a rural environment to improve education [Music] [Music] you
