-Simone Biles, welcome back to "The Tonight Show. " Thanks so much for coming on the show. By the way, I want to thank you before we get started.
Backstage, you gave me some nice gifts for my daughters from your gymnastics tour. That was very thoughtful of you. -Yes.
Of course. -Thank you so much. -Thank you.
Can't wait to see you guys. -Congratulations. I mean, wow!
It's been two weeks since the Paris Olympics. I know I'm so excited. I'm fanning out.
But has it sunken in? What did it mean to you? What did the Paris Olympics mean to you?
-It meant everything, especially coming off of Tokyo. That wasn't my best performance or how I planned for it to go. So to put the work in mentally and physically and to be back on a world stage, competing at an Olympic Games meant everything to me.
-Did it feel like double the pressure because of Tokyo and -- -Not necessarily. I feel like the only pressure I put was on myself, because I knew I could do it and I wanted to do it so bad. So that was, like, the only stressful part.
Everything else was how it was supposed to be. -You are so fun to watch. It is amazing to watch you do anything.
But I saw you posted this. This is you with your 11 Olympic medals. And it says -- [ Cheers and applause ] Yeah.
It says, in the bottom, "6-year-old me would be proud. " -Yeah. -Yes.
-I mean, she would be proud. -Yes, most definitely. Accomplished more than my wildest dreams whenever I first started gymnastics, so.
. . -You did a great job.
The team did a great job. But, also, then you got to carry the flag at closing ceremonies and hand it off to Tom Cruise. And I was thinking -- and I was just -- He's the biggest movie star.
I was just thinking -- I know you have pressures on you to do your performance, but that is a little pressure right there to hand off -- -Oh, yes. -Right? Because what if you trip or something?
-No, and I'm always tripping, falling down stairs. Like, bad for me. So, actually, that's, like, the most nervous I was for the whole entire Olympics.
I was like, "Okay, I have to hand the flag off. Like, don't mess it up, don't mess it up. " I was terrified.
-Yeah. How was Tom Cruise? -He was so sweet, so nice, down to earth.
He brought flowers. He got to meet my mom. And it was just, like, so much fun.
-He's a good guy. He's got great stories. I mean, I can't even believe he jumped -- Of course he had to rappel.
-Yeah, I wouldn't do that. -You wouldn't do that, right? -Mnh-mnh.
-No one would do that. Yeah, that's frightening. But that's how he walks -- That's how he enters a building.
He comes from the roof and gets lowered into the -- I love, by the way -- I don't know if you guys can see this beautiful necklace you're wearing right here, but this is -- You're wearing -- It's a diamond-encrusted goat. -Yes. -And because.
. . [ Cheers and applause ] You are revered.
People call you the GOAT, which I didn't really even know the term. I think the first time I heard it was LL Cool J or something. But it's the Greatest of All Time.
And you are the GOAT and you would just embrace it now and just go, "Yeah, I guess I'll just. . .
" -Well, I think it's funny to play off, obviously, all of my fans and people have embraced, loved, and supported me throughout my journey, but also the haters, because there's always the comments like, "Stop calling her the GOAT. She's not the GOAT. " So it's like it makes people happy and then it just pisses people off.
Yeah. Bye, haters. Keep hating.
-Yeah. -She's the GOAT. What would you like your legacy to be?
I mean -- -Oh, my goodness. I mean, I feel like, throughout gymnastics, as long as I'm inspiring the next generation and having fun and just making sure that it's not all about winning, but still putting a good foot forward even when it doesn't go your way, I think that's what I would want it to be. -Yeah.
That's what you are doing. Yeah. And, obviously, people are probably asking, but four years from now, the Olympics are back in United States.
I know. -Everybody wants to know this question. I'm like, "Can't I live?
" -No! No! You cannot.
You have to answer. -Yes. -Yeah, yeah.
What do you think? Is it in the cards? Do we know?
-First, I'm getting older. Like, 27 is a little bit old for a gymnast, but right now -- -What? !
-Yeah. -Is it? -Yes.
-You're a baby. -Yes. Okay, so here's the thing.
Like, in real life, in gymnastics, like, aging like fine wine. Okay, like -- But, like, for a gymnast, old. But outside of gym, oh, yeah, I'm young.
-Yes. -I'm sorry. -Oh, yeah, you're very young.
Yeah, I was gonna say. -Tequila, no hangover, da-da-da-da-da. But, like, in the gym, I am old.
-Okay, yeah. I don't know. Okay.
But four years from now, I don't -- I mean, it's just so fun to root for you. Anyway, hey, just think about it. This is a great idea I'm having.
-If we could do, like, tag beam, vault, floor, bars. Like, tag somebody else. -Yeah, tag out halfway through?
-Yeah. -Yeah, you can do it. You have so many things going on right now.
Talk to me about this tour. -Yes. It's basically a gymnastics spectacular of Olympians.
We have a couple international elites joining us, as well, that have gone to the Olympics. So, think pop-style concert with gymnastics. So it's going to be so much fun.
We have the guys on our tour this time, and they actually medaled, so congrats to them. -Yeah, you did this tour -- [ Laughter ] -No, that's great. -It's not a dig.
-No, that's great. -That's not a gig. -That's great.
-That was not a dig. -No, that's great. -That was not a dig.
-First time since 2008. -Yeah, so we're saying we're happy for you. Yeah, they finally -- -Yes, most definitely.
-They finally medaled. We're fine. Really great.
-They're gonna kill me. -But it's -- No, I know. It's gonna be fun.
And then you had this great documentary that I watched. It's on Netflix right now, if you want to watch. It's called "Simone Biles Rising.
" Part 1 is out right now on Netflix. Part 2 is coming out October 25th. What can we expect for Part 2?
-Part 2 is kind of the lead-up into the Olympics and then the Olympics and obviously what happens after the Olympics, because I think people don't fully understand and realize everything that goes into it, because you have the four-year people that tune in once and they're like, "Oh, my God, the Olympics this, the Olympics that. " But it really gives you an in-depth look, so it feels like an intimate experience while you're watching. -Yeah.
I want to show everyone a clip. Here's someone Biles in "Simone Biles Rising. " Take a look at this.
-I was a scared little gymnast in 2013. -Simone Biles, who was second on the vault at the recent U. S.
Nationals, where she was the all-around gold medalist. -This could be a highlight of today's competition right here. The hardest vault in the world, and, boy, she does it spectacularly.
Oh, my! Wow! -Wow!
-At that point, I was just trying to go out there and make a name for myself. -Talked about how powerful this young lady is and where she stands out, where she gets those extra points, and her difficulty are the big elements, especially like this, the dismount. -Wow!
[ Laughs ] -That was the first and only worlds that I was an underdog in. -Come on. That's right.
Simone Biles, everybody. Part 2 of "Simone Biles Rising" premieres October 25th on Netflix. And for tickets to the tour, go to goldoveramericatour.
com. More "Tonight Show" after the break. Stick around, everybody.
Come on!
