Mestizo or Creole are considered among most beautiful people. They are selling cow milk here in these bottles. It looked dangerous, so we came back.
Onion! I reposted the story she uploaded with me and she is getting messages & requests now. She's asking me how I live this life.
Welcome to a new video. I'm in Cape Verde or Cabo Verde which is a country on the western coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean & is about 400 nautical miles away from Senegal's coast. I'm in Cape Verde's capital: Praia on the Santiago island.
Its peaceful as its Sunday today. Most of the places are shut and people are relaxing in their homes. You must be wondering where I'm going so I've just checked out from the hotel where I stayed yesterday.
I'm heading to a nice apartment I've booked here. I'll tell you about Cape Verde. The archipelago or this group of islands in the western coast of Africa were uninhabited.
No one lived here until the 15th century when Portuguese came here & colonized these islands. They came under Portuguese control. You know what happened!
The receptionist of the last hotel followed me till here and said I've not paid. I told her I booked from booking. com that has my card details.
They can charge me from there. They must've not done or something. She said okay.
. . sorry.
She didn't know English so we talked through translator. Taxi drivers are honking as they pass thinking I'm waiting for a taxi. But I'll just walk.
I'll get to exercise too. Yes. .
. so Portuguese had colonized Cape Verde & they got independence in 1975. This is the only fully independent island or country in the Macaronesia region.
Now, you'll wonder what Macaronesia is. All the region towards western coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean is known as ecoregion or Macaronesia. Towards its south is Cape Verde.
All the other islands are either still under Portugal or under Spain's control. They aren't sovereign or independent countries. They are just islands still controlled by Portugal or Spain.
Behind me is the Portugal's embassy. I think its a safe place. There are some slums up there but here's a beautiful view of the ocean.
This area seems quite modern. Near the beachside! These are like the favellas'.
The apartment I booked doesn't have location on Google. It doesn't have accurate location on booking. com either.
I am unable to find the apartment. I'm unable to reach the host. I called him on WhatsApp but even messages aren't getting delivered.
Where should I find it now! That side are the slums and people are coming down from there. This area on my left is modern.
As you can see. . .
I think there's another embassy as I can European Union's flag. A man did come but he's taking me that side. Towards the slum!
I'm in the apartment. What a beautiful view from the drawing room. This is my apartment.
Wow! Amazing! Oh!
No? Pin! Okay!
I will give you another quick tour of the apartment. This is the view of the Atlantic Ocean. Views again from here.
Then there's the common room, sofa, dining table, kitchen, refrigerator, microwave, oven, gas, chimney, etc. This is our cute balcony. Amazing!
You already saw this. It has views of the Atlantic Ocean This is another small room that we don't need. I didn't open this gate yet.
Neither this one! This is a bathroom. Nice!
This is a big room. Its full chilled with the AC running. Here is the toilet seat, washbasin, and shower.
One sitting on the bed can look at the person in the washroom. Here's your Passenger Paramvir. This is the master bedroom.
I have shown you the views from here. I forgot to tell you the cost of this apartment. This cost me ₹16,000 for 3 nights ($191) so around ₹5000 ($59) per night.
This is not too expensive due to its size, location & view. All the main places are nearby. The president's house, embassies, etc.
are nearby. I asked the host & they told me the area is safe. I can walk here without a worry.
You'll wonder I am into backpacking so why am I staying in such a pricey place? At times, I also like to stay in nice places. My motive is also the same if I am traveling the world that does not mean I will travel in misery.
If I am traveling the world to pursue my passion, then I should also earn from it or I also make it my income source. Instead of spending money while traveling the world, we should gain experiences and monetize these experiences to earn money. I've also taught these things in my course If you haven't yet enrolled in my course 'How to get paid to travel the world' then you can do so from my website www.
passengerparamvir. com in which I teach you how to earn money while traveling the world. I also do weekly or monthly webinars to answer questions you might have after finishing the course.
I try to talk to you personally during those webinars. Before we explore this country, I'll tell you some interesting facts about it that will make our explorations more exciting. Cape Verde is made up of 10 main islands that is also depicted on their flag through the 10 stars.
If you look at the shape of these islands, they form a V-shape or a horseshoe shape. The upper 5 islands are called Barlavento islands. These include Santo Antão, São Vicente, Santa Luzia, São Nicolau, Sal and & Boa Vista.
While the below 4 islands are called Sotavento islands. This includes Maio, Santiago, Fogo & Brava. Cape Verde has a population of about 5,60,000 & about 40% of it lives on Santiago island.
20% of those living on Santiago island reside in Praia the capital city & a municipality of Santiago island. After Santiago Island, Sao Vicente is second most populous & Santa Luzia is the least populated island. It has a permanent population of 0 and just has a nature reserve.
Yet, it's considered a main island. Eastern Islands are dry due to Sahara & Harmattan winds. As, I told you in Mauritania's videos Hot Harmattan winds blow here.
While the western islands are green & rocky. Brava island is the greenest of them all. While temperature is not hot in Cape Verde but the water stream remains hot here.
Hence, you can call this Hurricane factory. Hurricanes form here & hit east coast of America & Caribbean. Cape Verde has an area of about 4000 sq km.
The official languages here are Portuguese & Cape Verden Creole. Yes, it is a Lusophone country or a Portuguese-speaking country. People have an interesting story here with their ethnicity or race considered different which is hardly found anywhere else.
In fact, they are among the world's most beautiful looking people. The language, history, ethnicity, economy, etc. will be explored more in this video.
Welcome to a new morning. We'll be going on a city tour today. I've booked a city tour with a guide here.
Its a 2 hour tour. I'm heading to the city centre from my apartment. Its a 20-22 minutes walk.
Its 9 am right now. City Center is about 25-minute walk from here I'll try to get a taxi as I'll get its experience too. If not, I'll just walk.
Although buses also run here. There's a bus stop ahead but I don't know about the bus routes. I don't know how I slept at night and now I've got a neck sprain.
Bus is also here. I'm in the taxi. He agreed at 150 CVE ($1.
46) Escudo is their currency. ₹1 has about 1. 25 Cape Verde Escudo.
He asked for 150 CVE ($1. 46) or ₹125-130. Well, this is the rate here.
He asked a fair price. Thank you! Let's get out.
We had to meet the guide at this cross. See, how amazing the colorful building looks. I think we'll see these in the city.
This is their main city center of Praia or Santiago island or of the main capital city. The guide asked to meet at this cross. The Christian cross over there.
This is Cape Verde's flag. Like I said, it has 10 stars depicting the 10 main islands. Blue color depicts sky or water, white for peace and red for blood.
This was the first construction by the Portuguese in Cape Verde when they came in 15th century. This is one of their tanks here. This is a bank here.
Pink coloured! Its amazing, right! Behind me is the market of Santiago, or Praia.
Let's go in this local market now. Yeah! Sweet potatoes, carrots.
. . Onion!
I think she's saying 20 CVE per kg ($0. 20). This will be ₹17-18 per kg.
But they won't be this cheap. She must be saying 200 CVE ($1. 95).
Sweet potato, capsicum, tomato, onion. . .
They are selling cow milk here. Selling in these bottles! There're many tourists here.
There're fruits and vegetables here. Do you think they import it or are they locally grown here? Most of the vegetables and fruits!
Do you think they are imported or they are locally grown. . .
No-no! Its grown here. They cultivate here.
Okay. They grow it here. What's that?
Oh, we have a different name for it. We're going to another market down there. It has all food items here.
They eat Couscous & you saw it in Morocco too. Talking of Cape Verde's demographics & race. As I said, they are like a different ethnicity.
Portuguese came here and blacks were brought here as slaves. They were sent through the Atlantic Ocean. So, overtime Portuguese & blacks mixed leading to a new ethnicity.
They are known as Creole or Mestizo. There were Mestizo's in Latin America too but they were the indigenous people of Latin America who got mixed with Spaniards or Spanish coming there. That Mestizo is mix of Spanish & indigenous people while over here it is of Portuguese & blacks.
So you might have noticed distinct features in people you won't find in blacks or Portuguese. Some people have black skin but blonde hair. Some have blue or green eyes.
So, they have mixed features due to which they are considered among the most beautiful looking in the world. The Mestizo or Creoles! 80% of the population here is of Mestizo or Creole & 18% are blacks.
Remaining 2% are mixed like Portuguese, Asians, etc. If you see my guide's skin color is dark brown which indicates the African heritage or ancestry. But if you look at his eyes, they are greenish.
So, he is the perfect mix of Creole & African culture. I've explored the city properly today. Due to Sunday, shops were closed yesterday so there was no point exploring it.
We could have seen it today only. We came on time. I can see many tourists.
I didn't expect tourists coming to Praia or Santiago islands, but I saw many of them. I believe they are all taking tours. We've come to a cafe.
Divide the price by 1. 25 to get it in Indian rupees. These are the drinks.
. . everything's in Portuguese.
They're all about 100-300 CVE ($0. 97-2. 92) Even I'll have to translate.
We're done with the tour and the guide has left. Now, it's the four of us. We're exploring by ourselves now.
And friends. . .
Capo Verde's population is 5. 5 Lakh but even a larger number of them reside overseas than here. U.
S. itself has 5. 5 lakh Cape Verdean's.
which is roughly equal to their population. They live in other countries too like Angola, Senegal, Italy, Spain, Portugal, etc. These are the Cape Verdean's who went after 1975 or independence as they had Cape Verde's passport.
We can't track people before 1975 as they had Portuguese passport. But, a larger number of Cape Verdean's reside overseas than here. I forgot to tell you about this t-shirt I bought.
They said 1200 CVE ($11. 67) or which is roughly ₹800-900. I asked for it at 1000 CVE ($9.
73) & they agreed. I got this Cabo Verde t-shirt as a souvenir. This area looks unsafe, so I'll keep the phone inside.
We came back as that side looked dangerous. It had slums, etc. She is guiding us with maps and is making us confused.
She is Arova, Julia, and she is Maar. They all are from Barcelona, Spain. Cape Verde is a stable democracy from early 1990s.
It is one of the most developed & democratic countries of Africa. Although they lack natural resources. Yet, it is a developing country.
Its economy is mostly service based or service-oriented & relies mostly on tourism & foreign investment. There was a school behind & kids are coming from there. Their education system is considered the best in Africa after South Africa.
We're going to a popular restaurant here. It's quite popular and had many google reviews. Restaurante de Musicale.
. . something similar.
. . it's closed?
No way! Going crazy in this heat! Totally drenched in sweat.
The restaurant was closed & opens at 3. Let's stand here. It is lovely, right!
We even have a view of the city. Great views! Yeah.
So nice! We could've got one picture here as well. Yeah!
We were finding graffiti for photo. We clicked one but we have graffiti here too. Katxupa is a dish of Cape Verde.
They eat Couscous & Katxupa a lot. The restaurant is called Kaza Katxupa. But we have ordered something else and not Katxupa.
She had uploaded a story with me and I reposted it. It hasn't been 2 minutes since I reposted & she got so many messages & requests. She declined all of them.
She got more now. She is asking how I deal with this. She is deleting all of them.
Sorry! People are following her. .
. Bye-bye! People are following her with love and she is saying bye-bye.
I told her why to post with me and to upload her own photo. As I reposted her story, my followers saw it and they reached out to her. I've ordered this peanut chicken breast salad and I ordered Agua de Jamaica that I used to drink in Mexico.
Here it's called Bisap. I ordered this made from Hibiscus plant. I used to drink it in Mexico.
They didn't know of it. It is a Spanish name but is drank in Mexico & not Spain. They didn't know of it so I told them.
They didn't drink it though as they all got beer. What's that? My hands are dirty.
. . Give me now!
He says he's my father. Kapil. .
. Hello, I'm Paramvir's father. Where are you guys, he is not picking my call.
He's saying that Paramvir is not picking my call. Where is he! I'm at a gym now.
Video quality might be low as I'm having another phone as its not safe at night It's called the E-fit gym and I somehow found it. I got down away from the taxi. I think the entrance is from here.
I'm practicing at this cross fit gym today. I'm still practicing. There're no machines just functional training.
This was today's video. The t-shirt is drenched in sweat. I hope you liked this video better than the last one.
I hope you got to know about Praia; the capital city & Santiago island. . .
You'll know of Santiago island better tomorrow. But, you would've known about Cape Verde as a country. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel then please do.
Thank you so much for watching. I hope you have a great day. Goodbye!
