hello and welcome to today's lesson from the iots coach. com today we are going to do some listening practice and we are going to hear about email addresses but before I do the actual listening practice or the listening test I want to get you familiar with vocabulary connected to email addresses so let's have a look at some of the symbols that we would see in an email address so I've got them there do you know what they are and do you know how to say them in English so let me put them up there and give you the correct pronunciation so that first symbol there is at so it's called the at symbol so we just pronounce it as at next of course we have dot it can be full stop if it's in a sentence or it can be point if it's in a number but in an email address or a website address we call it dot and quite often the website will end in do okay or do EU whatever the type of website it is the line in the middle there is Dash so we have a dash when we have that for a website or email address we have forward SL and back slash if someone says slash it's usually just forward slash that's the most common when doing email addresses and website names so now you know the words that you will hear when I say the email address let's do the listening practice okay so on a piece of paper write the numbers 1 to8 because I am going to say eight different email addresses and of course when we say the email addresses usually we would spell out the words because sometimes it's not a real word or it's not a complete word or name when we give the address so I will spell out all of these email addresses they are all email addresses so all of them will include the at symbol all of them will include a dot it may be do com but it may be something else so you should know the format of an email address it's always going to be the same so let's begin number one my brother's email address is M do SM SMI t h at gmail. com number two I have to reply to this email from my teacher the address is w i l m 78 hotmail.
com three I need to ask a question to this company about buying a product and the address is s a l s sales at company c m p nvn oh it must be a Vietnamese email address number four I'm applying for a job in the email I need to write to is HR D PT at s a r c r P. C store. com number five okay one of my students uh need some more homework so the email address is Liz Jones l i z j n s at yahoo.
com number six my uncle wants me to send him an email and his address is John J hn-1 1964 at a o. com number seven I need to invite my neighbors to a party their email address is m i k/s a l y gmail. com.
Au so that's an Australian email address okay and finally number eight uh my Russian student asked me to send his homework and His email is a len1 16584 at M A L. I mail.
