I've got uh a couple of business classes that I people that I Mentor we got uh a couple things that we do and it's the middle of July you know people are on vacation people are doing stuff and so we understand that and uh and we'll go um a couple of you want me to start do you want me to wait a few more minutes or you think we're good I think we're good okay guys like um the training that we Did it at uh at blacksite with me I'm an open book ask me whatever
you want uh you know I'm here to share whatever I you know I can with you you all know from hearing me do my Rants and do my talks uh my main area if if if you will is of course uh self-defense and mindset and fear management and recognizing this connection between the psychology of fear and uh versus the biology of fear which I think everybody pretty much um gets wrong in the sports performance or Uh commercial or corporate performance psychology area where a lot of the fear management I'm not here to knock people I
just don't have a lot of time to Pitter Pat around and blow smoke up people's asses at the end of the day what we're thinking and how we think influences what we do next right this is something I wrote in 1993 where I said how you think affects how you feel how you feel affects how you think both of them influence how and When you move so does does not understanding the psychology of fear and you remember and I didn't get into fear in a big way in the class because you know my work with
with uh with Chandler and others there was more about like the self-defense side and and I would always sprinkle as best I could you know the fear management stuff but we didn't go deep into it so I thought I would cover a little bit more of that you you can see my my um uh little neon sign in the Background here here and and I think you know from the class I'm pretty sure I shared that [ __ ] isn't me being some you know hya American you let's go uh it's face it understand it
control know it that the [ __ ] part is an acronym and it's a very potent very powerful acronym that when I get a fear Spike when I am uh something in my life outside my comfort zone distracts me and you want to remember this fear creates doubt doubt creates hesitation hesitation Creat creates procrastination Chad and Darren are in their cars right uh some of else might might be but they got their uh their video on so I can see the roof of their car if you were driving and you look down and and uh
you saw like the alternator light come on or some you know computer message that said uh uh pull over as soon as you can and your car is driving and it sounds thing you immediately your brain gets a fear Spike what the [ __ ] this and then you Have doubt can I make it to my destination should I pull over here doubt creates hesitation now that simple and I'm doing like just spontaneous organic example here that simple uh um um what seems like like a like a nonnoxious uh uh stimulus becomes this whole movie
in your mind what the [ __ ] going on [ __ ] I don't know a mechanic around here am I GNA get ripped off I'm going to miss my flight a whole bunch of things Start to happen unsolicited how many of you meditate any of you meditate you ever tried meditating you're sitting there meditating and the most insane thoughts run through your mind at all times you be sitting there suddenly you're thinking about something happen to you when you're four years old and then you're thinking about something in the future then something crazy the
brain is just always firing stuff but when the brain has a potential Scenario the movie in your mind becomes very concentrated around that so back to this car metaphor you look down you see that light come on uh service engine light and you're like what the [ __ ] that it's not like running of gas that you know what that is like you know find a a gas station serviceing and the Brain starts to do this so should I slow down should I go have a check and I get to my next destination so the
concept here is the fear Spike creates doubt doubt Creates hesitation hesitation creates procrastination now all of you to one degree or another are entrepreneurs right you wouldn't have invested Ed in the operation black site if something in your life and you might be working somewhere where you don't feel like an entrepreneur but you've got like like a dream of I'm Someday I'm gonna do this or I'm gonna do that so at a minimum if you if you are part of this community you've got some entrepreneurial Spirit Right uh I had a talk with bados a
few years ago and I said when we entertain psychological fear say it again when we entertain Psy ological fear we are robbing ourselves of time because when we're in the fear Loop we are not doing what we need to do as an entrepreneur does hesitation so let me ask you this and I love sharing this story when I was 16 years old 1976 the hottest girl in school was this Girl Lucy and everyone wanted to date her and I was friends with her and everyone's friends her she very popular and I was trying to work
up the nerve to go ask her to the prom so like the day that I finally got the nerve up to ask her I walk up to the prom I walk up to her and I say uh um I say hey hi Lucy and she goes oh hi Tony and I got so scared 16 years old I got so scared I didn't do anything I went she goes yeah I said so uh are are You going to be in um uh you guys like the acting with the voice crackling are you are you going to
be in history class after lunch she's like yeah are you going to be there yeah okay see you there [ __ ] I leave [ __ ] come on dude the next day I get the nerve up hey I meant to ask you this yesterday uh would you go to the prom with me she go she looks at me she goes oh my God I would love to and I'm like going oh my God but you know Mark asked Me yesterday and I said yes to him and inside my head I'm going [ __ ]
Mark's going with her I can beat mark up right I'm like you know I'm I'm just thinking like the 16-year-old mind do you guys get what's going on in the story doubt created hesitation hesitation created procrastination I missed an opportunity how does not understanding the psychology of fear affect opportunities missed in your life how Does not understanding the psychodynamics what we call the neural circuitry of fear affect fact if you're in the stock market and you go I don't know and then like you go to do something like 15 minutes later and everything's [ __
] changed what about real estate hey should we buy this house should we not let's sleep on it okay we'll do it oh sorry we closed yesterday or we accepted an offer yesterday right It's everywhere not just Lucy at 16 at the prom it's everywhere what about hey did this guy just threaten me oh come on he probably you turn your your back on him boom and and then the shot comes in the Sucker Punch comes in the gun comes out so the um I I've had this where I go I wonder if we should
we're using this term a lot I wonder if I should trademark this be your own bodyguard we have the trademark we were using it for years said the Company's growing let's be trademark that some [ __ ] already had it it was somebody I had trained a couple years earlier I called him up I said what the [ __ ] are you doing oh uh why would why would you trademark you went to my course why would you [ __ ] trademark my name he goes oh uh I was looking on the trademark stuff and
I noticed that it wasn't trademark so I got it for you really and you forgot to tell me for two Years fortunately he was intimidated enough and and had enough Integrity that he just gifted it over to our lawyer when we did the the paperwork but what was it it was me being an an artist instead of a business businessman hey should we trademark it well well if we're using it yeah [ __ ] trademark It Go doubt creates hesitation hesitation creates procrastination that's the cycle and Here's the thing and I think I did this
joke at blacksite I could be walking out of the room with you go hey it was a great class and then I go [ __ ] where's my phone and I'm patting my pockets I'm not being attacked but I'm not sure where my phone is so what I do is I'm I'm I'm going to do reenact this I'm walking okay great glass thanks where's my [ __ ] phone doubt becomes hesitation I'm hesitating I'm Procrastinating and it doesn't have to be startle Flinch like we teach you not weaponizing the Flinch we're not about Human Weapon
It's it's a very cool understanding I said before I inserted this idea that in I was talking to Beados a couple years ago and I was sharing this whole idea that when you learn to manage fear you're actually learning to manage time why because if I introduce an idea that puts you in the Fear loop I hijack your attention when you're going where's my [ __ ] phone I'm picking your pocket I'm making a joke when you're driving and you go [ __ ] did I did I locked the house up you're not paying attention
completely on the road does that make sense so when we're in the fear loop our functioning situational awareness is compromised everyone talks about head on a swivel situational awareness is everything in life right and and when You're learning self-defense which of course is is my specialty but what I realized in the 80s that the direct uh investigation of truly understanding how to manage violence leads to a level of self-awareness and Clarity you can't get anywhere else because if I said to you your most important asset isn't your portfolio your most important asset is your ass
you could say oh no my kids my family I go no you are you're your own Bodyguard that's why we registered that Traer be your own body because at the end of the day and I've I've worked with some of the wealthiest people in the world who have bodyguards and some of their security details didn't want the principal training with me and I said well if you're compromised if I if I'm going after your boss I'm going to kill you right like you're in the way so if it's one or four People I gota you
know oh no we have a dog and an alarm well we poisoned the dog and we circumvented the alarm and I would say to some of them some of them wouldn't train but I say you need to be able to protect yourself and the thing I discovered running our scenarios over decades was this only the people who can manage their fear manage to fight and I've said that line multiple times in our training if you've done a live training with me Um and what does that mean that means that it doesn't guarantee the victory but
it means you're in the Fight Win Lose draw your self-esteem is intact because you [ __ ] tried right you know the old rocking chair rocking chair test where like man should I should I've done that like you're 80 years old on the rocking chair I never did that thing I I should have done that all ties back to fear as well I'm also not talking talking about Here I'm all over the place because I'm trying to compress this in 45 minutes and then leave some time for some Q&A is um I'm not a big
fan of the memes do something that scares you every day I think that if you're you know you I'm gonna go bungee jumping I'm gonna go uh jump out of an airplane I'm gonna do that like that that experience the exhilaration overcoming your fear of heights doesn't necessarily translate to managing fear In real time and I'll tell you tell you why I have had and if you hopefully you know my background a little bit uh uh but I train still to this day Cheer One operators people who hunt terrorists people who don't know on this
next mission am I coming back and I've said to them in courses so I'm in a five-day course with some organization right and I say hey guys we're GNA take a little 10-minute break does anyone have any questions before we Break I look at the group any questions no okay good without fail some guy will walk up to me a guy who's killed somebody else who's been shot at who's jumped out of an airplane low crawled towards a Target [ __ ] been in gunfights and he goes hey coach BL I got a question and
I always go the [ __ ] I just asked if there's any questions he goes I didn't want to ask this in front of the guys in other words Do you know what the number one fear is in the world for most people public speaking public speaking yeah so imagine that here's a guy that if I said to all of you and some of you are are ex- male law enforcement so this doesn't count if I said to most of you guys would you like to on stage with a little bit of nervousness you know
go hi my name is uh uh Ethan my name is Hannah and I'm here to tell you what I did this summer right I listened to Tony blow Talk about fear and uh or would you like to get in a gunfight which would you rather do [ __ ] make a speech or get in a gunfight right and and a couple of you might want to get in a gunfight don't put your hands up don't answer um but you guys understand what I'm saying we it's crazy to me so one of my missions is really
helping people especially families I've done a bunch of Squire events where I go and I talk to uh fathers or Guardians with kids about Understanding fear had I understood fear in a different way when I was a kid my life would have been different what do I mean by that I would have hopefully I would have gone on a date with with Lucy when I was 16 right because I would have in real time said hey I wanna I want to take you to the prom because I would understand fear I competed in multiple Sports
I was a really good all around athlete but I was never great why I was Always worrying about letting down the team or letting down my parents or letting down or losing I could never hit the proverbial Flow State and there's all sorts of psycho Babel language around that imposter syndrome and this and that and I don't buy most of that because we've got drugs for every problem and labels for every problem when I peel the [ __ ] onion it comes down to self-awareness and managing fear now the thing that I said To to
vados and I'm making this chendo moment here is I said to him in our talk I said if we can help people learn to manage here we are actually teaching them to manage time and he said how so I said because you can't not be in the fear Loop when an external surprise stimulus presents itself does ever understand what I mean by that if you bite into an apple or or or something and and your tooth goes clink and you think you just Broke a cavity off or chipped your tooth you can't continue chewing you
can't continue talking your mind has to entertain the sudden stimulus you get pain you're like oh [ __ ] did I just break a tooth did I just crack a filling what the [ __ ] like everything stops because a stimulus got introduced too quickly you've all had like a toothache where you didn't call the dentist right away nobody does unless you're a [ __ ] Dentist right everyone how many of you like go [ __ ] I haven't seen my dentist in a few months I know I got a cleaning coming up but man
I I hope I hope maybe I wake up and I need root canal or or a wisdom tooth pulled because I miss my dentist like nobody misses their dentist right so if your tooth starts to hurt you you don't call right away and go I miss you my tooth hurts you wait a couple of days yes you're going oh man maybe this will go away and then two Days go and it gets worse you're like oh [ __ ] do I need root canal I don't want root canal and then finally you go in and
the dentist said dude you need to floss more you have the popcorn kernel stuck in there you're fine goal you should be fine take some antibiotics next time call me soon all right you guys understand what I'm saying we all wait we wait when we've got Financial duress Health Medical violence every victim of violence who Live to tell the tale said they had a bad feeling but they didn't have the courage to act on the initial radar blip of their nervous system everyone understand that so again one of my missions is how do I get
our no fear you guys know how we spell no fear KN n w no fear program out to families to businesses to organizations and to summarize the the U the talk I had with bados because he loved this concept I haven't shared it Yet I said I just want to make sure you guys understand that fear management actually is time management because when an external stimulus you know like you hear like a boogeyman in the night and you pull the the sheets up over your face [ __ ] did you hear that oh my God
go check the house you go check the house no you go like and even if you're alone you're having that conversation should I go down should I get out should I get my gun out where's my where's my baseball Bat you're hesitating while you're trying to reconcile what you're imagining as opposed to knowing what is the way of fear you're waiting to hear back if your loan was approve something's an escrow and you're like nervous about it and then they call back and they go hey everything's good what happens when you hear everything good on
a medical test on a financial application on applying to a school what do you do as soon as You get good news you [ __ ] stand up and you're elated so the metaphor here is what is the way to fear when somebody identifies and releases the fear you had you go [ __ ] thank God or whoever you believe in it's very very powerful so um I encourage you all to explore this more whether it's uh uh reading some of her [ __ ] or digging into your own uh we've got psychologists who I
train who said one Of the it's actually on my uh um one of my my coach blow no it's on my no fear website where this guy Jeff desso he's a psychologist at a big firm in Connecticut he lives in Greenwich like high-profile you know the area he trained with me for a few years and he says to me your stuff has more efficacy it's more effective than anything I've learned in 20 years of studying psychology and I said to him dude that might be the greatest Testimonial I've ever heard but you probably can't say
it out loud right he goes [ __ ] yeah put it on your website it's on my website so it's it's pretty potent because we're not [ __ ] around trying not I'm not making fun I'm friends with lots of psychologist stuff like that there's no psycho Babble to it it's like you are here and you're scared but you need to get here and that could be a guy fight it could be being chased it could Be Financial it could be emotional it could be a relationship what's the fight what are you what are you
willing to do and only those people who manage their fear manage to fight doesn't guarantee Victory and so the line I say to vedro he goes I [ __ ] love that time management is fear man sorry fear management is time management I said so when we don't understand how to manage our fear what We're actually doing is mugging ourselves why would you mug yourself any time you produce psychological fear you are mugging yourself you get an email that you're not sure how to interpret it right and you sit there anyone ever read a threatening
or or a passive aggressive email like 19 times anyone anyone want to admit that right here like this we have I have in my uh um I've got a thirdparty app wal Walter's on here so he he Understands all the the uh you know looking at emails and being able to read stuff my server this isn't a big deal but like I can see how many times somebody opened it who opened it what time how long are they run for and there's emails that I'll send that aren't like you better come to a course or
I'm gonna beat you up they're not threatening but like someone will open an email like literally like 12 times and read it and it's just like like a Friendly email let alone getting somebody where goes I know where you live like hey [ __ ] you owee me some money you better pay me whatever it is so the idea here is when I entertain or create psychological fear I am mugging myself I'm literally going and then if you called me up and you said dude I got this problem can you help me and and and
you go like hey I I I need a million dollar To do this I don't know what to do oh well here's people that that lend money [ __ ] what do you like I would sometimes like my my kids or my wife will go the TV's not working and I go oh I just finished my day shift as a TV repair man I'll see if I can squeeze you in and they're like what I go I don't repair TVs why aren't you calling Best Buy in The Geek Squad call an expert right away right
because you're saving time What should I do if someone broke into my house I don't have a gun I don't know how to shoot I don't know anything about CQB [ __ ] call up Tim and and Ray and go hey who can come to my house and do this or what videos would you recommend or what classes right and now suddenly it's not that you're you know an expert but you're beginning to educate and you understand what I just shared there is that acronym I have a fear about something I've Identified it and I've
got to [ __ ] the fear face it that means stop pretending it isn't there doesn't exist how do you understand the fear you research it does that mean the fear goes away no it doesn't so that's why the C is actually the most potent thing in uh that acronym the C stands for control it what that means is there are things in our lives that we need to do afraid we can't ignore them You got to do them afraid or if you step back and hesitate you miss the prom date right and then when
you do it enough or you do it uh um or you finally do it maybe it only needs one rep you go oh now I know it you guys remember the old t-shirts uh from the 90s the no fear company right the adrenaline company um n o fear I had every single one of those shirts and I'm still afraid right didn't matter that I had the shirt on because what it was was wishful thinking there Is no place and no such thing as no fear in in the psychological sense you could say and if you
want to be a contrarian well wait a minute what if we've analyzed all of this and we've got all these contingency plans and I've got backup here and I got all of this here I have no fear of and I would say like if you said well no we fortified the house we got an alarm I got a snip on the roof I got dogs over here I got you know the the ground's got pressure Sensors and [ __ ] mortars we're good I have no fear go what sounds like you have a lot of
fear because you spent $100,000 fortifying your house and if you needed to go from a to contingency B you're telling me that you're not going [ __ ] okay everyone get out the back door let's the guns are hitting and I'm making fun just to say that psychological fear is a real thing but what it is it's creating the self-awareness to regulate it so that Fear becomes fueled there's a there's a a video um that I have in our no fear course I show of uh George St Pierre you guys know who George senier is
so if you don't know who he is he's he's one of the the the all-time great MMA fighters ever and I actually know George personally I'm originally from Montreal which is where he's from and he used to train at the same gym I would teach at before he was Rush St pier and he was a Kukusan Kai karate he used to bow to me Sensei blow he call me walking by because I was in all these magazines um so some anecdotal stuff there but George recently came out in interviews he was actually interviewed by a
friend of mine um Dr Mike jery is one of the world's top sports psychologists and George said I hate fighting I'm afraid of fighting you're like what like if you see him Lunging across the ring like doing like [ __ ] a Superman punch with 6% body fat like a drilling uh um uh tier Walter um thanks for hopping on uh if if you see him lunging across I said this guy was scared shitless 30 minutes ago in the changing room you'd go [ __ ] but he was he said I hate fighting the worst
day of my life was every day I had to fight but I did it and he didn't say it the way I Explain it but he controlled his fear because he wanted freedom and access those are the two words he said freedom and access I want freedom to do what I want and so the only way I could do that with the only skills that I had was to become a world champion isn't that interesting and then the access part is when you're the world champion you have access you look at look at the aess
vados and Dan have the people that they hang out With right you know we're we're on the cycle holy [ __ ] holy [ __ ] holy [ __ ] holy [ __ ] you get to a certain level you have access so that's a neat thing because we look at this guy as a fighter and we think he's not afraid he must be Fearless in fact he's fearful he's full of fear but he's fix figured out how to turn fear into fuel so that's really the science and psychology of our no fear program um
it Is 1:30 I'm on a tear here I was going to show you guys uh uh a couple of videos a couple ideas and I was going to uh ask you do you want me to talk about self-defense you want me to talk about fear management then I kind of hijacked myself and said you know what the most important thing I can give you is this idea that uh fear can be your friend if you change your relationship with it that none of Us none of us have like a really good day and then another
day another really good day and then say to our spouse or our kid you know I had three really good days in a row I hope something catastrophic happens tomorrow so I can practice my resiliency right do you guys get that like nobody nobody goes things things are great I hope something bad happens because you know with adversity comes this like new sense of stoic like [ __ ] we just want if we could and don't be don't be the contrarian if you could just be happy every day and not worry about [ __ ]
[ __ ] that cause stress wouldn't you pick that why not but that's just not the way it works right you can't build muscles without stress you can't grow your mind and your business without stress right it's just the way it is so but what nobody's really taught us and this Is this thing is I realized I've never heard anyone explain to their kids as a as a as a kid the difference between the psychology of fear and the biology of fear or the physiology of fear never happened to me would have changed my life
and the um there's a an email that I got if few years ago from the guy's a a professor uh ten tene professor and he's also a martial artist he sends me this Email we had an audio tape called the cerebral self-defense the mental Edge and I released that in the early 90s this is like how Cutting Edge we were on this stuff I remember one of my students was a um a doctor of Psychiatry at the uh the the was it the Montreal general the uh Royal Victoria Hospital which is a very famous Hospital
Montreal and he says to me and I didn't really know what he did he says hey uh would you like to Come and talk to my colleagues about your take on fear because it's very novel it's different than than what most of us talk about and uh I said I you know in the I always say you know if you're an entrepreneur I always say yes like yes sure I'd love to and then it's like tell me more um and uh I come to learn that it's the department of psychology and Psychiatry at the Royal
Victoria Hospital this Esteemed world renowned place and I still say yes and I'm there to talk about my take on fear and I pull up to the hospital and it's this like building that was built in the 1800s and very Victorian and like kind of like you know at night you think there's vampires and monsters in there like a pretty spooky looking building and I show up there and I'm wearing a black polo shirt and I got my bag and I realize I'm nervous as [ __ ] because I'm in my uh mid late 20s
and I realize I'm gonna go talk about fear on a system that I organically intuitively adapted by studying violence and I'm going to go do a presentation to a bunch of people who have phds and this is their business and I suddenly had you know the first case of imposter syndrome before that day no one else ever had it I I started it I'm I'm patient zero and uh so I'm literally like outside the car Looking up butterflies in my stomach I'm like holy [ __ ] I managed to make it up there I'm nervous
as [ __ ] I'm thank God I was wearing a black polo because I'm sweating like crazy and I start my talk it's just a like a 60-minute talk and I do the talk and uh they're they're all sitting there with legal pads and pens the long like 12 inch or 14 inch you know the long legal pad yellow pad and nobody's writing anything And I'm going they hate me it sucks they're being polite because I was brought in as a guest speaker and then I finished this talk and it's pretty much not as Intense
or uh uh craftily orchestrated as is now because it's now 35 years later um the lead takes his pen he's got his pen in here he Taps it on his Pad Taps his mouth like this he goes where did you come up with this stuff and I realized in that moment holy [ __ ] this is good [ __ ] because they didn't write anything because they were just like the the [ __ ] is this we've never heard this before and then when the lead said where is the stuff and I'm a sarcastic prick
as you probably know you you've been uh entertained by my very off-color jokes in the past I looked at him I said well while you were memorizing Freud and young I was actually out interviewing scared people how did you know they kind of Looked and smiled I said just kidding but what I was looking for intuitively was the intersection of the victims of violence and who fought and who cooperated and what was that moment what were they doing and it wasn't this these two people got attacked and one guy had a Glock and one guy
had a Sig and the guy with a Glock did like it wasn't it wasn't the Equipment it wasn't this guy got attacked and this guy got attacked but this guy did taono and he didn't do so well this guy did Jiu-Jitsu and it wasn't ever the armar or the kick what it always was was how they man manage their fear and and um uh um you know Darren you posted face the fear understand the fear kill the fear I'll get back to that but we want To be careful of if we kill the fear but
part of the system is fear is fuel then our tank is empty do you get that so in a metaphor here your physique your physical conditioning is your car your nav system your GPS is your mind your skill driving is your skill at entrepreneurship or relationships or communication or what have you in the metaphor what's going to drive the car and please let's this I Started this metaphor before they were electric cars so let's not let's not go there but what about a Tesla okay forget that the metaphor here is the fuel is what we
need to drive the car and so in the metaphor of moving outside of our comfort zone would you all agree I don't care I mean I suppose you get to a certain level where you go easy come easy go or you know like uh you know I won some I lost some maybe you get to a certain Level where you've all heard people go hey don't invest or spend or buy this if you don't have [ __ ] you money if it doesn't matter right you the things like that but for a lot of us
if you go I got 10 employees I'm about to do this deal I'm going to need 30 employees and I'm gonna have to get a new building that might keep you up at night for one or two nights right you might you you might go I mean for some of you you probably thought long and hard about your Investment in just black site wasn't free wasn't a dollar should I go should I not right what's the cost versus the the value so everything presents psychological fear face it understand it okay and and some of you
might have said okay I'm writing the check here's my credit card and you're nervous about it and then after maybe the first or second event you went [ __ ] this is [ __ ] really good I'm getting world Class training I got access to these people I learned this thing I had this whatever and you realize you know what's expensive is not getting the training but there was still fear in trepidation leading leading up to that so I'm very strong about saying things like when like uh like when somebody says no fear I go
no K fear there is fear we don't want the fear but if it's there imagine if you've been schooled or led to believe that when you get to a Certain station in life a certain level in life that you're not going to have any fear and then fear presents itself can you imagine the potential crash right you didn't you weren't stress inoculated you didn't have the right scenario training versus somebody going hey we're going to train you properly and [ __ ] can happen you could [ __ ] mind [ __ ] yourself here's where
you are you're in the fear Loop get out of the fear Loop you guys tracking um is there can someone uh um can I share a screen I need the host to give me a share permission on this you're good now Tony okay stand by [Music] wonderful um guys can you all see This okay this is part of our our our no fear program uh and this is actually that's not it um here's that uh that St Pierre thing check this out always always saying to me oh you scared to fight this guy yeah I'm
scared to fight everybody I'm always afraid and I it's not gonna change anything it's a subjectivity I'm always scared you don't want thank you because I perform at my best when I'm scared but even though I'm scared I'm going to make the Walk and Walk The Walk my job on the night of the fight you know and that's how fighter should be you know being scared for a person who doesn't fight sometime they they don't understand that always scared of doing this doing that yeah of course I'm scared and and I'm not scared to admit
that I'm scared no some guys don't want to admit it I'm always scared whe there's not a fight that I had that I wasn't scared and the one that I wasn't scared enough it was I Got maybe it's a good thing for you yeah fantastic right and look at it look at this picture that's St Pierre about to punch somebody in the face Mike Tyson used to throw up before his fights here's St Pierre does this guy look scared well he's in the moment he's hit his Flow State he's not afraid this is my buddy
Andy stump he's about to go base jumping right he's he's jumped for Red Bull and and does like wing suit [ __ ] are you insane he's a friend of Mine I go Andy are you afraid before you jump he's like [ __ ] yeah but that's why he's so precise and meticulous in his preparation there's a lot of people that are uh um retired Mill or active mill that are you know chest bumping [ __ ] fear like but not in the acronym sense most of the cool guys that I know will say yeah
we're afraid we don't want to die but that's why we train our asses off and that I've buddies who said man We were stacked outside the houses we knew that every single male or every single individual in that house was going to try and kill us and we knew we were going in and if you weren't afraid so what I'm talking about is managing fear gang managing fear and so that's what the uh um that's what the whole thing is like fear throttles everything we do public speaking number one what did we just go through
the last few years right there's still people walking Around with masks on with people were afraid of violence we're afraid of sharks we're afraid of bad guys we're afraid of getting fired uh we need to learn how to manage fear this is a great quote from the great custom and I'll paraphrase it real quick that that fear is like fire and it can heat your food or can burn your house down right so we need we need to understand like what to do with our fear and that's why with the the question that you asked
is great is How do we kill the fear we don't want to kill the fear we want to go I'm really [ __ ] good at what I'm about to do so I have no fear like in in in in the traditional sense and then something changes and I get a fear Spike and I go okay I know what that is and I'm gonna use that fear as fuel to motivate me to to to you spur me on I'm going to use it as as fuel now I created this thing and I show this to
you here quick this is what we mean by the fear Loop and I'm Not going to go through each this we'll do this on another call I don't know how quickly we cycle through uh stuff but um we're going through our day everything's hunky dory and then suddenly a stimulus gets introduced too quickly and we are in the fear Loop neuro Association how our brain links up a symbol right some big guy bumps into you he's got a tap up shirt on and cauliflower ears what are you thinking Right away are you thinking I'm gonna
kick this fucker's ass or you're going holy [ __ ] just my luck I bumped into an MMA fighter he's going to suplex me and beat the [ __ ] out of me right so we see something in our brain immediately starts a movie and so we teach people how do you get through the fear Loop and get out of this the green line represents a strategy uh that we know works the yellow line represents the duress path if you look up here that Means you know if I say to you listen I know this
is your first speech I know you're going to be nervous but you prepared you're good the audience wants to see you succeed just remember to breathe focus on one person hear your tips like I coach people in different things I'll give them each one's different but while they're worrying about the outcome they're in the duress path but it that that's what I mean by controlling your Fear um I'll give you an example like uh G stop sharing for a second I've been speaking for decades online I have zero fear of I'm not using any notes
I'm just talking to you from my heart and my mind to you but before the call I had fear of the call but it wasn't like this fear it was I want to give you things to think about that will [ __ ] inspire you that was my fear is did I was I not going to Inspire you understand what I mean it's like it like I was putting this pressure on myself to perform am I going to show up I literally got an important phone call at a 12 55 my time I know some
of you all over the place so five minutes be the call I had to [ __ ] take it we're on the call to 1258 a guy from another country Brian I gotta go great uh you know we'll send you this uh proposal through email thank You gotta go boom jump in ran and got my [ __ ] drink it's 1259 I'm like [ __ ] run back to my office got to got working in the backyard The Gardener might show up I've got all these Spears but they're not like I'm going to get attacked
right but they're attacking my mind and I use the energy to just go [ __ ] you you know what you have to do so that's the fear loop as a visual Back to this thing here so here we are got to get her so I could have said you know what time's the gardener coming then text my wife and then text the The Gardener and and now what I'm doing is I'm diluting my focus on you at some point I said [ __ ] shut that off focus here and you'll figure it out if
it happens as it happens so I'm managing the fear I'm transcending it I'm using it to to energize myself how many of you seen the movie Get Carter it's an old old old Stallone movie watch this we see the thing hey Jack when I said you take care of the business the business will take care of did we have a bad connection on this maybe wer listening I was sorry to hear about youg such a good fight scene so Stallone he's in an elevator he's not in a good mood You can tell he's tired but
he's going for a ride up or down uh I guess up um and then suddenly the door opens two bad guys walk in one of them's got a gun they're both there to hurt him to take him away to do bad [ __ ] to him neural Association how your brain links up a symbol the first thing he sees is a gun what is seeing a gun in a confined space trigger in his mind well the gun coming out and the guy shooting him right that's the first thing he sees Then the guy says you
remember Peter don't you and stone thinks I should have choked that [ __ ] out the last time I saw him so he visualizes himself doing a rear strangle on the guy and the guy with the gun pulls the gun out so the neural Association created a visualization that kept him in the fear Loop but he wasn't creating a strategy the only way he can get the [ __ ] out of the the fear Loop is to have a plan and he figured out his plan is This I'll make this dramatic and stop sharing if
you've got two threats in front of you and one got guys's got a gun who do you have to [ __ ] hit the guy with the gun or the guy without the gun the guy with the gun right you have imminent danger in one guy's armed and you know that why would you go to the unarmed guy so by understanding how to look at fear what you actually do if you understand our system is you begin to see what's the next move and soon as you Create the mental movement of what's the next move
you are moving out through the challenge or threatend door right as soon as I have what's the next move I'm now here and if I'm a little bit worried about like if I'm going I hope this [ __ ] works it's the dress path if you go I know this is going to work it's green you're ready to go you guys tracking that give me a thumbs up if if you you understand what that means So and you can at any point you can be cruising along here you're kicking this guy's ass like um I
don't know if you ever saw Bruce Lee and Enter the Dragon but there's one scene where he's kicking everyone's ass and then he goes to push the elevator door and he's waiting for the elevator door and it opens up and 10 guys come out and you see him at the elevator door like this he's just Nuno people and [ __ ] kick people and this and then he's waiting for the elevator The door opens and there's all these bad guys with weapons and he's like oh [ __ ] right and he runs so you can
go kyi key ey KY ey key ey and then all of a sudden [ __ ] and you're back in the fear Loop but you need to understand this gang the Mind navigates the body there's no such thing as muscle memory I talked about in my class there's neural patterns there's motor engrams there's milina the neuron sheet the milting the sheath around the neuron to improve your Signal speed but everyone uses the term muscle memory muscle memory in the literal sense there is no muscle memory there's awareness and training and I'm going to do this
now and if you want to improve that speed you improve mind speed by learning how to manage fear okay there's my rant it's 154 um how else can I help you guys who's got a question Tony hey Rich lar here I Got a question yes sir put my video on um I was at the black side in January and in April your training is amazing I I trained for uh quite a few years in Kaji kmo uh kampo karate and never learned the stuff that I saw you teach um I looked at some of your
opportunities online and I'm just wondering what's the best I've seen the the spear system the the garage you know live garage a lot of different programs and I'm just wondering what you think The best like online remote program would be for me awes or for us so so for everyone on this so there's two things one is we just came up with a program called The Human Weapon system and I'm going to uh show it to you standby standby where's my share keynote Keynote uh Opera I believe this should do it here um here it
is um Let me refresh this Page okay uh so this is a program that is badass I spent about a year putting it together there's 10 chapters each chapter has a workbook and a video it's about six hours worth of training so you now you have everything the foundation like onboarding the Baseline of my system uh and um there's tons of bonuses and [ __ ] like that I would get that because that lays Down everything like all the SC science psychology nonviolent postures deescalation how to develop speed power our principles on ground fighting our
movement for multiple salant and stuff like that I'm going to drop a code in here I I'll get you the link to it right here perfect and uh let me see if I can freaking do this without spazzing out here stop the share I'll put it in the chat um so that's the chat that's the code no That's not the code that's the page and then what you're going to do is if I can find this here's your discount code you can pay me more like if you just want to send money to like open
a Swiss account for me and pay me more you can but if you enter this is a special uh code uh it's bed's code um hang on a second my dogs are breaking out um so do that that'll get you a hundred bucks off The price of it it's not that expensive anyhow it's $4.97 so this will bring it down to 397 and you get all of that stuff um but that'll get you 100 bucks off uh because of uh our relationship with badro that's great okay yeah I've seen that too on on your site
and it looks awesome it's a great program yeah and and so I you know this isn't like you could be a black belt you could be a beginner it doesn't Matter it's introducing you to how to be a Human Weapon how to think like that how to understand the B the other stuff that I would tell you to do is this is free uh let me see if it pops up here x ebook nope X ebook there we go um this is free this will take you to one of my funnels totally transparent the there's
an ebook that I wrote it's 10 pages long it's called Making friends with fear it'll put you in my funnel you can unsubscribe or you can invest in the no fear program why not great right so why why not do that it's like that's dirt cheapap that's $97 it's a joke uh perfect but the book The ebook some somebody asked me like why' you only write 10 pages I go because if I wrote 11 pages you probably wouldn't read it it's super and they go you I I go it took me 40 years to write
those 10 pages it's not just like a lead magnet Right you guys are all familiar with that stuff it wasn't like oh here's like the three things you need to know about fear it's actually if you read through that you're gonna go oh [ __ ] you'll understand stuff we deeper here so uh um uh check that out um depending on where you live like the garage gym that you asked about you get a month free with the Human Weapon System Program so you can try it out I teach live every week uh on Zoom
if you Can't make it uh if you can't make it no problem they're all recorded we have probably the world's largest repository of realistic we do like there's active killer event that as video I'll show the video and go this is what you need to be thinking here multiple salent knife attack fear management all this [ __ ] there's almost 600 classes up in the cloud it's insane you know it's overwhelming but if you're like if you go out and spend a little time you know Getting good or understanding this and someone like you rich
you know you you've had a history of martial arts it'll be more interesting then you know someone else is like hey I just want to be able to protect myself the [ __ ] [ __ ] kicks off I don't need El I don't need levels and that's not what we now right but um that's great information is is is the information to your weekly live training on those sites too Tony yeah yeah yeah so so um x G there's the garage gym link right if you go to my website one of the one of
the best things guys also you know sign up for my newsletter get on there uh sign up for the newsletter and then you'll see training events we you know we've got uh camps be own bodyguard courses and all all sorts of stuff and these are like you know uh short events and um but they're they're more specific like in terms of they're more intense than you know the half day or or an hour And a half that you get you know uh with me at black site so speaking black site iteration big scenario training iteration
how many of you are coming to the uh the next event yeah definitely in November all of all of you yeah and uh and you know if you were if you were there at the last one where where Tim explained you know some of the stuff and some of the challenges uh again this is where that whole fear management thing it's like you listen to That and you're like oh [ __ ] okay or you go this is going to be cool but it's just it's just doing that experience and expanding who you are one
of my favorite maxims is you know you be willing to give up who you are today who you can become tomorrow right and you can't do that without managing fear yeah and they don't really tell us or at least they haven't so far I don't know if they will before the before the next black site but exactly what it is that we're going To be doing you know other than I think we're supposed to be like in fourman teams or something like that but it should be interesting yeah I'm I'm pretty sure you'll find out
at the event right right it's like it's like you know why overthink get or why game it right so so um you know with Tim's Special Forces Special Operations background the bottom line is you train for everything and then you get if it's a if it's a if it's a top secret thing nobody knows About it and then you're like hey be here get on this helicopter and get here well where are we going yeah what do you mean where are we going we're not [ __ ] telling you this isn't a secure location you'll
find out you'll find out here and some people might not find out until there yep and I'm not gonna say anything but I just know the the the it should be it should be a metaphor for I I can handle a Surprise yep because that's what [ __ ] us all up in life right is is wait a minute uh you didn't tell me that you wanted to marry me you didn't tell me you wanted to divorce me you didn't tell me you were going to rip me off you didn't tell me you wanted to
grow the company like that like every everything everything that creates stress or duress in our lives was a surprise if you think about that right it's like [ __ ] why is this happening to me anyone ever said That totally million times right none of you say that right all what the [ __ ] is this right okay guys it's 202 who else has a question for me thank you Tony thank you Rich Hannah what you got thanks Tony for today this is absolutely fantastic just really quickly can you tie this back to business so
in other words you have all these aspects of business that you've been able to monetize as part of your brand but those all start as a concept in our head right Where we want to take our business what direction we want to go so give give us some strategies in business how to apply this this idea of knowing fear well you know I mentioned early on right in the beginning uh you know in business like having the wrong people around you can ruin your business and ruin your day right your energy has anyone here ever
had to fire somebody right I I don't know you but you probably didn't fire them the day You decided you needed to fire them and you might have waited a year or six months or three months or a year and a half only to find out that they were also stealing from the company and banging this employee here and now they're getting a divorce and now there's a HR lawsuit but your intuition a year earlier said something's off with this guy or this gal but because we don't have the courage to understand how to manage
fear We wait we wait we wait we miss the prom date and then we're like [ __ ] I've been screwed over three times over 30 years every 10 years somebody I Mentor screws me over and it's always a surprise to me because I'm a [ __ ] romantic hen I'm like I can't believe this happened to me and then when the dust settles I go no you knew five years ago this was the guy there was something in the way this was done right so if you plan for it or you Learn your lesson
because life has a habit or a way of presenting you with the lesson you haven't learned over and over again anyone notice that right so um it's uh uh now it's like you you you and that's the see and [ __ ] I'm now so it used to be like oh it took me two years to fire this guy then it was a year and there was always the my wife and I run our business together so it's like Jess you need to fire Tim right you fire him what do you mean you Fire people
you need to practice firing people too you go and then like two months would go by right and then finally it's like okay Tim I know I'm a confrontation management expert but sorry this isn't working out you know I'm making I'm making fun but what happened was you know the last guy I fired it took a month you know from cuz and the reason for the delay is I'm a romantic and I'm wondering did I coach them and Train them properly did I set them up for Success so intrapersonal communication can kill your business or
lack of so the ability to manage to fear and to interpersonally communicate is intrinsically connected Hannah to to fear management if you got somebody in sales and I go look you you I this is a great story this guy hired me uh privately he he was a former Marine got hired out of the military to run a Sales team in a DOD based soft like a company that sells stuff at DOD and he was responsible guy had been downrange knows how to use a gun uh weapons been in gunfights calls me up train has trained
with me like in the hand to hand side and he says hey coach B I've now been put in charge of these 12 men it's not a [ __ ] fire team it's a sales team and we're responsible for $30 million worth of business this year he says I would Rather be in a gunfight right now I am so [ __ ] scared I don't know what to do like and so he paid me to to take the no fear program and adapt it to Sales but it was all the same stuff Hannah and everyone
else on here if you can't identify the fear you can't manage the fear hey man did you make your calls yeah nobody's in wait a minute you made your calls like like what do you see in the market are you afraid are you Intimidated by your boss that you can't you know your intuition says we should drop this product or do this or change this marketing the the psychology of it all hang on a second my dogs are freaking out um you hang on a sec uh sorry guys um Archer go seean good boy uh
I don't know if that makes sense well I got six dogs here guys six big dogs uh The um there are specific things negotiating one of the guys that I consulted with messaged me uh this is several years ago he said uh that cycle behavior and understanding fear just made me a few million dollars to which I answered uh the part where I have equity in your company that I said silently uh did you hear that do we have like I was making a joke right because he was he would go up and do these
Negotiations where body language is 60% of communication right so you might be sweating too much are a little bit nervous or stuttering a little bit because you haven't organized your fear properly and you're the person you're pitching misreads that as lack of whatever backbone clout uh you're you're improvising and it just changes the relationship I think people can you know you guys remember Iggy Pop Iggy Pop That You Iggy Pop one of my favorite quotes ever he said imagine if desperation were attractive I'll say again imagine if desperation we attractive so that's you going oh
man I got to get late tonight hey can I buy you a drink and this girl or guy goes wow this guy's really desperate see you no thanks you know you you're now you're pitching something hey you know hey want to buy a watch and you open up your your raincoat right and you're oozing with Desperation even if someone needs a watch energetically there you're maybe going you know you're the wrong guy so there's so many nuances of how fear applies to to your business if you've got a like staff who's intimidated by you they're
not bringing you their best ideas um here's a great line This is out of our business no fear protocol and guys like we do all these all these different talks for specific know for your kids no I just did I did something Recently for a a i they asked me not to mention the name but an an NB uh uh what is it n n ba is basketball it's the uh baseball team pro baseball team one of the biggest teams where I had 50 of their coaches on there your inability to psychologically pinpoint what's the
fear in a player could be worth you know the pennant athletes are super super superstitious um this is I don't know if this is true but Samuel Goldwin of Goldwin you know pictures the old the old movie studio this is uh like a like a famous quote he goes um um hang on a sec sorry um sorry the uh he was in a boardroom and he said this is again I don't know if this is urban legend he says uh I want all of you to always feel free to express yourself tell me the truth
about any of these ideas I'm bringing to you Studio heads like and pitch that always Tell me the truth even if it costs you your job tell the truth the truth above all else so you're all pumped up going on I love this guy tell the truth imagine the first meeting where all of us are in the room and you're all like producers and directors and you're under contract for Metro golden mayor and uh um and you come in in and I go guys I got this idea for uh this movie and hang on a
Second you come in for the this idea for this movie and I pitch the stupidest [ __ ] thing and I go Hanah I want you to make this take this project to life and you go he said tell the truth even if it cost you your job I don't know what that means but tell the truth and you go sir that's the stupidest idea you ever heard here's why D D D D D D everyone's looking at you and I Go Hannah thank you you're fired you can clear your stuff out of here and
now There's just the rest of us everyone Hannah leaves the room going [ __ ] I got fired he was serious appreciate your honesty okay um Jeff Ethan what do you think of the idea well Jeff and Ethan are going it's a fantastic idea and I would like to make that movie right because at the end of the day and I'm making fun here there is a direct connection to what we do if you're a movie maker and our security and our Art and the Romantic part of US thinks maybe we could make it into
a good movie but the story there is do people really tell you the truth and so the interpersonal communication thing is is huge I don't know if I don't know if that helps but there's there's I've done stuff for uh like big big big big like investment companies Google called me to I got an email I thought it was a prank like an Ashton Kutcher thing Google Contacted me so I wrote back I thought it was I really thought it was a joke and I said hey how did you find me first did you Google
me and the guy answered that he goes very funny you know that's of course we're from Google uh but he he had uh heard about me through some CrossFit stuff that I did years ago but it's interesting like this approach for everybody at if I if I say to you with everything and I look at this as a giant onion you peel every onion and you Look at doubt hesitation procrastination on anything and if you just understand this principle anytime I spend on psychological fear I am consuming real time in the real world yes or
no if I if you're there biting your nails or doodling or sketching or doing like this going [ __ ] and I'm not saying there isn't a time when we must deliberate and whiteboard [ __ ] and think about it I could say guys Buck two weeks to flatten the curve [ __ ] we're in the fear Loop how are we going to Pivot what are we going to do there you're using fear as fuel to figure out what the pivots going to be again like the Get Carter video fear is always if the if
you if you appreciate this paradigm shift I'm trying to invoke fear is always an asset if we understand between psychological fear and the physiological the butterflies and the sweaty Palms that always sucks no matter what but you Learn you learn to to reframe that so I don't know if that helps if you want to we what's the only resource we can't get back guys time time so I just I just told you one of the ways to save time is to spend less time in the fear Loop notice what I said here less time the
Integrity of the system says there is always going to be fear at a certain event in your life or time Right and it it could be something beautiful like your your kid wants to get married or go traveling my daughter with her new boyfriend they want to go to they wanted to go to New York on a trip that's so fantastic she's in love She's Happy New York what the [ __ ] you going to New York for holy [ __ ] like during like like last year still pandemic still all the [ __ ]
going on there you don't think as a security conscious individual and as her Father I was worried about her for the [ __ ] week she was there that's the fear and it's the psychological fear hope she doesn't bump into a mostly peaceful protest right guys get it so I need to manage my fear while she's running around having pizza rent she's telling me hey we rented a bike and rode over the Brooklyn Bridge and had pizza and I'm like going [ __ ] are you kidding me and I'm going Wow that sounds great when
are you coming home like why don't you come home tomorrow Dad we just got here right because I'm the father that's worrying we manage our fear we manage our time we don't mug ourselves anyone else got a question thank you thank you everybody hey it was wonderful to see all of you again hopefully you can make your schedules clear for the next event and uh all of us I know like like all of us Have gotten really close like Chandler and Tim and and and this is like it's like it's like my community it's like
cheers like the people in our garage gym we started that as a pivot in the pandemic and a hundred people signed up right away and that saved my company you want to hear who's got time for one last story about fear management got five minutes get this listen to this um pandemic happens I cancel 35 classes because all of my classes most Of my classes are law enforcement military and you know right at the beginning the first three months all of them were deployed this is before the defund defund the police era right but everyone's
out nobody knows what's going on and um I'm sitting there and I'm doing the math and I cancel 35 classes and I go okay that's about a half a million dollars I'm a boutique I've got uh uh contract trainers and four people at HQ and we're Like a fast little team we're a boutique well we can't sustain not having that type of Revenue come in plus the other bigger side of my company if you go to if you if you go to my website blower training.com blower trining systems.com you'll see that we've got four verticals
and one of them is equipment we have a scenario suit that we sell to swat teams military MMA fighters for Force un Force training it's called high gear we sold thousands of them we launched it in 1993 So we would do a course get paid nicely for it and then all these people would go that suit's badass and they would buy stuff our biggest order was $17 million for the US Army like this is legit [ __ ] and so uh imagine this guys we have zero high gear sales zero core sales I'm sitting in
my office going oh zero money's coming in and all of a sudden I realize like for the first few weeks it was okay I Was home hanging out with the family watching Netflix working out and then it was like I'm gonna lose everything I ever built I was 60 years old I'm 63 60 years old I'm going to lose everything I won't be able to feed my family I'm going to lose my house all my [ __ ] materialistic [ __ ] and I was like what am I gonna do I was on the phone
with uh do you guys know who Steve Weatherford is so uh Steve NFL bodybuilder Motivational speaker I was on the phone with him I said hey dude uh do you have any ideas or suggestions s on how to save my [ __ ] company and uh I go because I'm going to lose it and he goes um aren't you like a famous self-defense guy and I said yeah that's the rumor he said I don't know if this is an idea but start here he says I have 150 people who work out with me on Zoom
every day I don't charge them Because they're all on my uh uh Mentor program or buying protein from me I just log in I do a workout of my gym and they're there 150 people he says start with that maybe you got something there I'm like holy [ __ ] I got thousands of people on my on my email list most of them can't afford to train with me one-on-one I don't have a school anymore because I'm just doing consulting so They can't like move to California and train with me I'm not doing like lessons
like that so I videotaped something very transparent honest and I say we don't know what's going on but I can guarantee that if some of this violence escalates you're going to want my skills some of you have wanted to train with me but you can't afford it you don't live near me I'm going to train you on Zoom some of you are Zoom hesitant you don't think I can do it if you can't learn on Zoom It's because your instructor [ __ ] sucks and I can guarantee you I don't I will teach you how
to manage fear I will teach you cool moves multiple salent moves all this [ __ ] and I did this little video a 100 people signed up that week that saved my company and it grew to several hundred and that was the garage gym and that was the pivot the morning of you guys have seen me Teach you've seen me do demos with Mike Chandler you've seen me right you know Mike's one of the top fighters in the world I'm like 62 63 at the time nerve pain back pains like [ __ ] going on
like in me that I don't complain about out loud but I got to be very careful when I'm doing stuff after Decades of Smashing my body but I'm in there doing things and demoing with you guys and um so you know I can move you know I I'm a subject matter expert in my material the morning of the first class The very first garage gym class I'm walking around the house like this and my wife says to me are you okay I go yeah I just got a a whole bunch of anxiety about this first
class and she goes anxiety why would you have anxiety now you need to know that I've been teaching on WE you guys remember WebEx by Cisco if you remember that WebEx Cisco Skype before Zoom was a a company I was coaching online so I had no fear of Online interaction she says why would you be nervous for a garage gym class you've taught online before you can't catch covid you don't have to do a demo with anybody you're just teaching and talking what could you possibly be nervous about and I looked at her and I
said there are two things I'm thinking about number one I didn't tell you how bad things are with if this continues it's not sustainable we lose everything I need this to [ __ ] work I know I'm gonna bring it and I will bring the passion and the heat but will everyone respond and go sign me up I mean I need this to work to save the company and she looks at me and I'm [ __ ] nervous about that wouldn't you all be nervous about a deal that could make or break your entire [
