First question, what are pets actually for? In ION 2, pets aren't just cute cosmetics that follow you around while you AFK in the city. They are your core to your character's power.
Pets are basically your mount, and collecting them offers massive stat gains. Let's talk about collecting them. Pets are divided into four different categories.
Cognney, Farah, Nura, and Variant. Each type of pet category offers a specific set of stats that you gain as you acquire them. And the amount of stats you gain increase as you level them up.
Every time you collect a pet, even if you don't actively equip it, you gain passive stats just for having it in your roster. This is what we call owned effect stats. Maxing out all pet categories offers you massive stat gains.
We're talking might, accuracy, evasion, dexterity, constitution, and all other extremely important stats. The more you collect, the stronger you get. It's literal Pokémon rules.
You got to catch them all if you want to be top tier. Pets also allow you to turn into them using a special candy that you can acquire using Shugo Festival currency that you can acquire by participating in the Shugo events. Turn into your pet by simply meeting the following requirements.
A pet is max level. Equip the pet. Buy the empathy candy from the Shugo shop using Shugo Festival currency and use it.
This will turn you into the pet that you have equipped. Collecting them is only half the battle. How do you level these bad boys up?
You level your pets by simply farming the same pet you collected. Killing one specific type of pet 10 times unlocks and collects them for you. The answer to leveling up pets is simple.
Farm them until you're maxed out. Now, let's move on to the real minmaxers dream, the genus insight. If pets are your passive baseline, genus insight is how you fine-tune your character into an absolute beast.
First things first, how do you interact with this system? You need genus crystals. You farm these crystals by reaching the max pet level, which is three.
Once it's maxed out, continuing to farm these pets will grant you pet souls. Pet souls are basically the crystals you need to start for analyzing your genus wheel. Each category of pets has their own type of crystal.
Farming Cognney, Farah, Nura or Varian mobs at max level grant you soap crystals of their respective category. The ratio is one mob kill equals one crystal. Side note, one of the best ways to also farm pet souls, aside from farming them through farming the pets, the actual mobs, is by doing your weekly daily dungeons.
That's right. Daily dungeons are weeklies. So, when you clear the daily dungeon weeklies, you can choose to do the daily dungeon, Odelium Repository.
This daily dungeon once completed can give you up to 80 growth pet chest. And as for genus crystals, one of the other ways you can get it is through your actual daily quests called the duty quests. So upon completing these duty quest, you have a chance to receive one of these five rewards and they include these crystals.
It's a grind, but trust me, it is 100% worth it. Here's how the leveling works. You use those genus crystals to level your genus insight from level one all the way up to level 10.
Why does the level matter? Because this system is completely RNG based, meaning your level directly dictates your stat roles. At lower levels, you're mostly going to roll standard and common uncommon stats.
But as you push that Genos insight level higher, your chances of rolling unique stats go way up. And eventually once you reach the levels 9 and 10, finally unlock the chance to roll the holy grail, heroic stats, the absolute best in slot modifiers in the game. Okay, what do we have here?
We have a lot of things going on in the screen. We see a wheel and there's colors and there's yellow and orange. What are these?
Let's break down the grid. You have nine slots available to roll stats on. You got slots one, two, four, five, seven, and eight.
And they're going to house your foundational stats. Think attack, critical hit, accuracy, defense, evasion, and directional stat modifiers. But you need to pay close attention to slots three, six, and nine.
These are your game changers. Slots three and nine are heavily weighted towards massive damage modifiers. This is where you can roll things like smite, perfect, weapon damage boost, and your positional multipliers like front or back attack damage boost.
This is quite literally the basis of whether you can properly set up a build for your character or not. If you don't have the genus, it's going to be very difficult to set up a complete version of your build. Without the genus, some builds will never be complete.
Then we have slot six. This is your survival slot when you're pushing endame. Slot six is what keeps you off the floor.
Here you're rolling for high tier defensive stats like endurance, regeneration, and damage tolerance. A perfectly rolled heroic stat on slot six quite literally defines how you shape your survivability for your build moving forward. So to sum it up, build that pet collection for those massive passive own effects.
Keep them leveled. Farm those genus crystals so you can push your insight from one to level 10. all the way up and roll those juiced up heroic stats on those special 3, six, and nine slots.
