One cold winter night a boy named Abel is thrown out of his home utterly confused he turns toward the woman he calls his mom but she vehemently denies that he is her son she then drops a big Revelation saying Abel is the son of her dead sister the boy is shocked in total disbelief that this is happening to him when she tells him to just disappear he pleads for her to wait suddenly his Amber eyes start glowing making the Woman recoil in fear she starts throwing things at him telling the boy to get out of
her sight she grabs a vase and Hur it at Abel when the boy raises his hand the woman is stunned to see that the vase freezes in madir it's all Abel's doing and he too is surprised by his ability the vase drops and the woman is brought out of her stuper she angrily accuses him of using magic without any casting or medium which she says only a demon can do the boy is surprised while the Woman tells him to go away and never come back she slams the door and locks it leaving Abel shivering in
the night without a coat on his back he walks away eventually he finds a cloth on top of a cart which he uses as a coat freezing and with no place to go the boy resorts to stealing to feed himself he almost gets beaten to death by unsympathetic adults thankfully he manages to save a little piece of bread for himself out of sight from everyone else he eats his Meal among the rats and later on sleeps near the drain days pass and abble continues to survive but Sumi thinks he's going to die as he crouches
in a back alley he wishes he had a better life soon his surroundings grow darker and darker until finally his eyes close suddenly someone asks if he really wants to die that way opening his eyes Abel sees a man in front of him the stranger asks for his name stunning the boy he tries to answer only to cough horribly The man quickly figures out that his voice must be dried out still Abel doesn't give up he tells the man his name his eyes glowing which the man notices with a Discerning look the man invites Abel
to come with him saying that from that day onwards the boy will be his son 2 years later Abel is reading a book when garas the man who adopted him finds him with a huff garas who also operates in orphanage suggests that Abel should play with the other kids however The boy is determined to finish his book though the man complains about his adopted son's attitude he's actually a renowned magician but even then he doesn't know much about Abel's Amber eyes in their world the color of one's eyes represents the magical attributes they are good
at Abel's Amber eyes have the power to forge fuse and use any of these attributes which people believe is and it's why he's isolated and friendless currently gas mentions that He heard Abel Ed magic to surprise the other kids which the boy doesn't deny gas believes that it's great that he can use his Amber eyes and suggests that Abel use his powers to help others as the boy is curious girias explains that this way no one will be afraid of him anymore able becomes silent knowing that gas is only cheering him up the man who's
also his teacher announces that their class is about to start during the lesson a Abel admits to himself that he Likes being cared for by garas time passes and Abel is already 8 years old one day he notices a commotion inside a room three bullies are ganging up on a smaller kid Abel pauses observing the scene but then he walks away thinking it's not his business suddenly a young girl confronts the bullies Abel observes that she has fiery red hair and seems to be new in the orphanage compared to the bullies she's tiny but still
she confidently introduces herself as Maria Born in a nightly house Abel thinks that the girl is quite assertive and so do the bullies who decide to teach her a lesson the leader of the bullies kicks her in the stomach making her curl up in pain he starts taunting her and soon all three Bullies Are assaulting her the leader pulls Maria by one of her pigtails declaring that she'll be his new doll seeing the girl tear up Abel thinks that it's now impossible for her to live a peaceful life in the orphanage Initially he thinks that
it has nothing to do with him and that he should walk away before he gets into trouble but upon remembering Gus words particularly about using his power for the sake of others he Muses that it can't be helped he decides to test out the new magic that he learned with his Amber eyes glowing he summons wind blades which immediately head straight toward the unsuspecting bullies two of them are attacked leaving the leader confused About the sudden loud sound Maria is shocked upon seeing the two bullies suddenly collapse the remaining bully turns around asking his friends
what happened but he too receives a powerful attack which sends him flying a good distance away the bullies try to make sense of their situation but Abel isn't done yet his magic reaches for the lamp plunging the whole room Into Darkness the bullies Panic especially when Abel announces that a demon is among them the Bullies scream and run out leaving Maria stunned when she sees Abel's shadowed figure she asks him who he is Abel Muses that unlike other people the girl doesn't seem to be quite upset as he advises her to learn from what happened
he heals her injuries this is how he meets Maria a future Ally in defeating the Demon Lord one day at the orphanage while Abel is alone on the staircase peacefully reading his book someone tries to creep up behind him suddenly Maria attacks and without missing a beat Abel imbus a newspaper with his magic turning it into a weapon to Parry the girl's every attack when he manages to hit her she cries out how unfair it is that a piece of paper is stronger than her sword Abel then Muses that it's been about half a year
since he helped Maria he wonders why the girl always tries to attack him musing that maybe has something to do with his promise to make her his disciple if she manages to hit Him Maria seems to be the only person who doesn't know that Abel's powers are considered demonic noticing something interesting in the newspaper she calls for Abel's attention pointing out an article he tells her the news is something related to human body training magic which seeks to create human bodies and souls to compensate for the lack of Manpower on the battlefield something the government
is very interested in as a human body is an essential material For experiments he War warns Maria to be careful when she goes out suddenly she hugs him tightly saying that no matter what happens she's happy if Abel is with her he freezes not saying anything which frustrates the girl he believes that a girl like Maria would find adopted parents soon not noticing that gas is observing them from afar that night garas asks Abel why he didn't give the girl an answer the boy quickly figures out that Gus is talking about Maria he Wonders if
it's because of the man that Maria isn't adopted yet Abel then reveals the truth he's afraid opening your heart means you're opening yourself to be betrayed hearing what the boy firmly believes garas Falls silent Abel then Muses that Maria is not afraid of him because she is innocent ruffling the boy's hair garas comments that he's relieved that Abel has the same worries as a normal person winking at him gas reassures AEL that he'll live Comfortably as long as he's around silently the boy thinks that he likes gas's Face whenever he laughs noting that his hand
is warmer than anyone else's he knows Gas makes him think that everything will turn out all right the next day Maria is called to gas's office the orphanage operator hands her a document which makes the girl suddenly tear up a few days later Abel is once again reading when he's interrupted by strong gusts of wind he closes the Window looking contemplative as he Muses that it's going to be a rough night just then he is surprised by pounding on the front door which turns out to be a soaking wet Maria she immediately tackles him and
thankfully he manages to save his book from getting wet looking resigned he asks her what happened later later after Maria has shed her clothes and left them to dry the girl hesitantly tells him that tomorrow she'll be leaving Abel is not surprised thinking It was inevitable for her to move on the orphanage is a temporary home for children who have lost their parents he tries reassuring her saying it was bound to happen but the girl grabs his coat saying that she doesn't want to leave knowing that Maria won't leave unsatisfied Abel Huffs figuring that he
needs to cheer her up showing her a piece of paper he says it's her Parting Gift much to her confusion after fiddling with it she becomes curious When he presents her with a bird or a gummy Maria initially doesn't know what it is so Abel explains that it's a spell to protect her telling her to think of it as his replacement which makes the girl smile when the skies clear up the girl waves him goodbye promising that they'll meet again someday with a big smile on her face carefully clutching his present Maria leaves suddenly a
raindrop falls from the sky followed by more and soon the sky is pouring again Looking quite ominous it's still raining hard when Abel steps out of the orphanage he starts trekking through the woods seemingly confident in his way though the weather isn't getting any better he keeps going as there's something he needs to find out he enters another building and hangs his wet coat after quickly fixing his clothes he proceeds toward the double doors and opens them only to find garas inside the man gives him a strain smile asking the Boy how he managed to
find him Abel reveals that he cast a locator spell on the paper he gave Maria admitting that he's actually known about this place for a long time now he asks gas why he's been doing this as the man has killed numerous kids throughout the years Abel knows that he's using the underground facility to develop the magic of human body training gas only states that sacrifices are necessary for the development of magic but the boy thinks That those sacrifices are unprecedented at this scale gas says that Abel must know how he feels insisting that the boy
should understand despite being a brilliant magician gas a commoner was stripped of all the credit Abel replies that he understands having been by gas's side more than anyone the man laughs saying that's why Abel is his son he tosses the boy a sword and says he has one last task for Abel gas wants him to injure someone to the boy's surprise the Casket reveals Maria gagged and tied up garas cruy awaits what his adopted son will do the boy takes the sword and says he understands seeming as if he intends to follow the man's wishes
much to Maria's shock when Abel swings his sword the girl closes her eyes in fear but it was only a sizable chunk of hair that Abel cut after the deed Gia's Ora becomes dangerous asking the boy what the meaning of this is AEL stands protectively in front of Maria declaring That since he has changed his mind the two of them should fight as Abel reades himself for a battle against his teacher Maria looks alarmed at what's happening he points his sword at gas who only looks amused and says that Abel is no match for him
he's a grayed sword sorcerer a group said to be the strongest in battle he summons ice needles and has them rain down upon Abel the boy manages to Shield himself but gas is fast managing to pass by his Student and kick him from behind Abel lands on his feet but is already injured garas realizes that the boy missed most of the impact by twisting his body away he claims it's a Pity as Abel should have trained under him for 10 more years becoming the most powerful magician the world has ever seen the boy continues to
attack but gas says that's not enough to stop him he swings his fist hitting the boy as he mocks him Abel is already out of breath but gas doesn't give him time To recover he starts pelting Abel's Shields with his needles and some of them manage to hit the boy making him curse in pain the man tells him not to look away before dealing a painful blow to the kid's midsection Abel cries out as he's sent hurtling a good distance away the boy can't keep up at all and looks like he's having a hard time
moving garas States it's over before grabbing Abel by the neck intending to deprive him of air he taunts AEL for Being weak even with Amber eyes Maria tears up in despair while gas laughs evily as he continues to tighten his grip he states that he thought Abel would fight back a little more but then he realizes he is actually clutching air utterly confused he looks at his hand before realizing that his surroundings have disappeared suddenly he wakes up and Abel asks him if he had a good dream garus realizes that Abel had cast illusion magic
he's utterly stunned as The boy had used magic that he developed but it wasn't perfect yet the boy reveals that he had read gas's research paper on illusion magic but as the theory was too useless and unsuitable for practical use he improved it the man couldn't believe that the boy had been working on his magic in preparation for this day garas calls him a monster which reminds Abel of the memory from a couple of years ago he smiles bitterly bidding his adoptive father goodbye as he Fatally injures gas with his sword the man utters his
name for the last time gripping his shoulder before fin L collapsing to the ground after the battle Abel leaked the truth about gas to the public the man hadn't actually perished from their battle but in the end he decided to end himself in the present Abel stands in front of garus grave still feeling grateful toward the man who had saved him recalling that freezing day the warmth of gas's hand is Something Abel will probably never forget for the rest of his life after placing some wild flowers in front of his adopted father's grave someone calls
out to Abel it turns out to be Maria who has been looking for him as Maria asks him if it's true that he's leaving town he notices the broch that she's wearing quickly realizing that Maria seems to have been adopted by the most famous nobleman in the city he confirms that he's leaving the city that day and since He's busy preparing for his departure he advises Maria to go home with tears in her eyes she pleads for him to take her with him causing able to sigh he refuses truthfully saying that Maria will just be
a liability to him the girl doesn't know what to say but Abel continues to be harsh telling Maria to never show her face in front of him again he Muses that since Maria has a gift for magic she'll have a better life living as a Noble's daughter the girl starts crying loudly Tears falling from her eyes as she promises to get strong so she can stand by Abel's sigh again Maria's soft crying filled with frustration anger and sadness is something burned into Abel's ears and refuses to go away it will be nearly 10 years before
he sees her again without looking back Abel leaves when autumn arrives Abel knows it's time to move on he's in the Royal capital and it's been 2 years since he left the orphanage at the moment he drops himself Into the underground and quickly casts a spell to seal the entrance he's in a sewage facility built underneath the Royal capital for various reasons he started to live there as he makes his way toward his home someone calls out to him it's a bunch of kids proudly showing him their Catch of the Day the kids are very
happy saying they're going to have a feast Abel Muses that these kids have been living underground since before he arrived Many of them had lost their parents in the war and were forced to leave their homes without anyone to turn to they started to live in the sewers just like him Abel reminds the kids to cast a detoxifying spell on the rats before eating them to which they agree when Abel first arrived there the children's lives were in a terrible State constantly fighting over the small resources that they had this is why he taught the
children magic as a means of Survival after some kids show off the magic that they just learned Abel asks one boy for the item he request Reed earlier the kid reaches into his bag and pulls out a couple of newspapers Abel is satisfied which a girl finds him weird as a piece of paper isn't something to eat able tells them not to disturb him as he's going to read before heading toward his room as he's musing that he doesn't know how he came to accept living in the sewers willingly he Arrives at his door he
opens it turns on the lamp and settles to read one of the Articles implies that the magic organization chaos raid is involved in the strange deaths of 18 demons at the moment Abel intends to join that organization as it seems that gas is connected to the chaos raid as long as you're a sorcerer who performs well it's said that you'll get a huge reward and a promised position in the future by the organization Abel doesn't exactly want To become a court magician like gas but he wants to test his abilities resigned he says it's going
to take him a while to achieve his goal that night heavy footsteps alert able that someone is coming the unknown person opens his door revealing another kid who exclaims that they should go get some food it turns out that Abel has been expecting him and the kid whose name is Rick says he'll never be able to catch Abel off guard Rick informs him that he's already Summoned others to join them and as they climb up the stairs Abel thinks that going out carelessly means putting themselves in danger and that's why they decided that they only
go out once every 10 days as Rick said 10 kids are already waiting for them they're going to collect food which will then be distributed among the underground dwellers when he asks if they're ready Rick eagerly responds saying they're all wearing to go this group of children is The finest able has ever trained in the Arts their skill level rivaling that of the very best after Rick reminds everyone not to take more food than necessary everyone awaits ael's signal finally he tells them that it's time to go instructing them all to disperse the kids descend
upon the city jumping and running on the sides of the buildings after landing they quickly navigate the crowd and soon food from stores and stalls suddenly disappears leaving Everyone baffled while the younger kids are static the others methodically gather food knowing that though theft is theoretically evil it's the only way for the children to feed themselves suddenly Abel senses the arrival of Thug looking men who immediately address the kids as rats as Abel has never seen them before he guesses that the merchants have Enlisted the help of these men to fight them Rick steps in
catching the men's attention when he jumps to the ground The Hired men immediately try to capture him one tries to grab his back but Rick is too Nimble immediately ining the crowd he Ducks into an alley keeping the hired men busy meanwhile one of the younger kids gets carried away taking more apples than necessary just then Abel's attention is caught by a girl on top of a roof with a book in her hands she starts casting spells while looking toward the pair of younger kids who are unaware of her presence with her hand Raised the
girl's magic Creeps in between the two boys and suddenly eyes emerg but to her immense surprise her targets are suddenly gone it turns out that Abel retrieved the two kids himself while the boys look Shell Shocked he is busy thinking that the girl is a well-trained magic user he informs the boys that they're being targeted from a building inwardly feeling quite surprised that the girl isn't much older than him he continues moving but then She starts casting another spell determined to capture the thieves scared the boys urge Abel to move faster saying they're all going
to get hit at the rate they're moving Abel silently agrees so he lets go of the two kids before turning toward the girl just as the ice arrows are about to hit them he activates his magic summoning an earn wall that stops most of her attack the girl is stunned while Abel thinks that his wall isn't going to last very long With not much Choice he turns to the kids and tells them that they should Retreat for a while just as the wall breaks the girl on top of the building becomes even more baffled as
all three of her targets become missing underground one of the boys laments the loss of his apples while Abel is still very much distracted by the woman who used water magic he wonders who she is especially since she is a magician about the same age as him it's the first time He's encountered a magician of his age who uses that kind of magic and this is how he meets Yona the waterm who's going to help him defeat the demon king as he walks through the streets of the royal Capital Abel arrives at one of his
favorite bookstores only to realize that the place has closed due to the large bookstores that suddenly popped up sighing in disappointment he recalls that the bookstore had allowed him to browse magical books in exchange for Walking their dog looking for another bookstore he comes comes across a new one that just opened called the magic bookstore Beals above the shopkeeper Beals above rudely asks Abel what he wants from his store causing the teen to comment on the awful way the shopkeeper is talking to his customers be's abub scoffs at Abel for calling himself a customer believing
the boy to be a rat he grabs Abel's clothes and tells him to get out and never come near his store Again disappointed Abel really doesn't want to cause trouble but then somebody interrupts it's a girl with blue hair and blue eyes who Abel thinks is the witch from last night immediately be abub is flustered explaining politely that the boy has the most repulsive Amber eyes when the girl accuses the shopkeeper of discriminating against customers based on their appearance the man immediately lets go of Abel dropping himself onto the floor he deeply Apologizes all the
girl only Huffs Abel can't believe a man of Beals above stature would stoop so low the girl apologizes for her employee and guesses that Abel must be studying magic too when he questions her how she knew she points out that he's holding a grimore in an ancient language which makes him realize that she's quite knowledgeable the ancient language is a magical script that was used over a hundred years ago and is difficult to read stammering the Girl asks for his name and Abel answers truthfully the witch introduces herself as Yona and seems friendly enough that
she invites him to have tea with her afterward as an apology for what happened earlier he's taken back realizing that the girl didn't notice that he was the one who fought her last night thinking that maybe he can use her he agreed when he asks her about his clothes she assures him he looks great she tries to Tell him something but then falters shily she compliments his eyes saying they're a beautiful color which is something that Abel has never been told before considering that most people think of them as demonic as he's thinking that she
must have been raised in a privileged environment the girl States she'll show him the best places to eat she then leads him outside triggering the start of their friendship outside Yona encounters many people who Seem to be quite close to her all want her to stop by and chat with them as the walk down the street they come across a stall owner whom she's also friends with when he notices Abel beside her he questions if the young teen is her new boyfriend embarrassed she playfully slaps him across the face saying it isn't like that with
his cheek stinging the stall owner waves them goodbye soon Yona is talking to another friend of hers causing able to comment that she Has quite the reputation she reveals that her dad is the head of the Commerce Association all the people on the streets are like family to her when Abel mentions the threea trading company Yona is surprised revealing that it's her father's business Abel now understands why she was attacking them yesterday realizing that it's dangerous to get too involved with her at the moment she instructs him to save a seat for her Abel sits
at one of the tables and as It's his first time he wonders what kind of drink coffee is eventually both of them are served mugs filled with dark liquid when Abel is asked how he wants to take his coffee Yona warns him that it's very bitter if he drinks it without sugar giving his cup a Discerning look Abel only now realizes that coffee is usually enjoyed with something else still he decides to drink it as it is which surprises His companion after he has a taste of his drink yon asks if he Likes it he
answers yes feeling very pleased with its fragrance and aftertaste Yona Chuckles commenting that Abel's taste buds are quite mature compared to him she feels quite childish the waitress says it can't be helped as Yona is still a kid and the girl immediately gulps down her sweet drink the girl then reveals that coffee was known as The Devil's drink and for a time was forbidden by the church Abel thinks that the moniker fits the drink And it was on that day and for the next 200 years that he fell in love with a beverage known as
coffee the two are still at the cafe when Yona guesses that Abel was taught Magic by a teacher he tells her she's right musing that he's been telling her everything that happened though he's not being entirely truthful looking around them he notices people whispering among themselves while looking at them apparently they find it strange that the two of them are hanging Out together Yona is a daughter of a wealthy Merchant while Abel is merely a dirty sewer dweller when she questions what kind of person his teacher was all the bad memories about gas rush into
Abel's mind but he only says that his teacher wasn't much special just an old nice man she easily believes his answer feeling quite relieved as she thinks that Abel is already powerful even without an amazing teacher the boy is a bit surprised thinking that Yona doesn't Even know how how to be suspicious of others which only proves that she has grown up in a more privileged world as the gossipers walk away Abel now questions Yona about how she studied magic but then she falls silent eventually she admits that she's hesitating because she thinks that he's
going to laugh at her answer with a sigh she then reveals that her dream is actually to be an adventurer traveling the world while honing her magic skills She then looks at Able's face finding not even a hint of amusement and feels very relieved he only tells her that he hasn't lived long enough to be able to laugh at other people's dreams meanwhile while two ladies are gossiping about them they don't notice the thief sneaking up behind them suddenly there's a shout catching the two Sorcerers attention the ladies cry that their bags have been snatched
the thief smirks believing that there's no way the women Will be able to catch up to him immediately Yona Springs up saying they have to stop him Abel thinks that the thief has some nerve working in the sewer dweller's Turf his Amber eyes light up and he activates a magic spell that lowers the thief's friction with the ground soon enough his foot slips making him lose balance and control of where he's going confused as to what's going on the thief eventually Carin toward a stack of crates and crashes Horribly leaving him unable to move the
women are relieved while the thief receives a scolding from the stall owner and the police Yona turns toward Abel as she had noticed that the thief's movements were influenced by Magic suddenly he tells her that he should go now but it seems like she doesn't want him to Le yet however she only asks if they're going to meet each other again to which he answers yes AEL size internally and hears someone say that he Looks like the infamous black cat ignoring him Abel Muses that he's been trying to take advantage of Yona but it doesn't
seem to be working out so well he reminds himself that the two of them are from very different worlds on a bright night some of the younger kids are complaining that they're hungry but a member of Abel's elite team assures them that she'll get them lots of food later when another member assures a teammate that he'll be supporting her he Gets hugged from behind by an older girl who exclaims he's being cute as the boy complains about being squished against her chest another member who bald seems quite jealous which another girl notices meanwhile Rick reports
to Abel that there seems to be a lot of unsold treasure that night just then two hooded figures appear Landing in front of them they're also members of ael's elite team who report that there's a lot of security around Rick tells AEL not to Worry as they've been training every day which the latter acknowledges bidding the children goodbye the elite members Dawn their masks and after being rallied by Rick everyone is ready to tackle the mission they jump from roof to roof giggling at the guards who seem not to have realized their presence yet while
Rick reminds them that they should finish their mission quickly the group continues to move at fast speeds as for Abel he's on the lookout for Yona Intending to be the group's backup in case she causes trouble speaking of the devil she shows up declaring that she's going to catch all the thieves the younger kids in the elite team are worried and ask ask Rick what they should do the leader tells them to follow the plan even as Yona summons her ice needles suddenly they all jump away from her leaving her quite confused as they're all
getting away she demands they come back but they just mock her Saying that they'll see her next time leaving her quite frustrated she carelessly misses a step causing her to lose balance much to her shock she's plummeting toward the ground fast and it's a fall that she's not going to recover from Yona thinks that she's about to die when suddenly someone saves her bnst to her it's Abel who's feeling quite exasperated at the turn of events he silently thinks that he just had to save the precious grimore from being Damaged and now he needs to
get the girl back on the ground Yona is quite flustered flailing around in his arms one of her hands accidentally knocks off his mask she is shocked as in front of her is a very familiar face immediately Abel puts his mask back on trying to pretend that nothing happened much to her disbelief as soon as they land on the ground a number of guards seem to be heading in their Direction knowing that the two of them being seen together is Bad he apologizes to Yona who's looking alarmed once again Abel jumps so high that the
guards don't notice where they want the girl is amazed as it seems like they're flying she then stares at Abel saying he must have a reason for doing all this he chooses to remain silent reflecting that he's supposed to get food but ends up bringing home trouble instead upon arriving at the sewers Yona is amazed she exclaims that she never knew there was such a place under the Royal Capital Abel thinks that her reaction isn't surprising as their home in the sewers was actually built as an evacuation shelter during wartime he leads her to his
room where she can stay until all the commotion outside dies down not caring at all if she attempts to escape entering his room Yona can't help but be excited as she looks around she then admits that it's her first time ever being in a boy's room making Abel think that she's being too Carefree While wondering why he wants to live underground in a sewer she notices an illustrtion being covered by a curtain pulling it back she then questions him if he created the magic formula on the walls Abel reveals that he wrote those equations a
long time ago upon further exploring Yona realizes that there are more scribbles on the walls feeling quite stunned that it's all ael's doing feeling quite fascinated she comments that there's no one quite like him Claiming that Abel has a tremendous amount of talent he thinks that she's just overreacting good understand or surprise as he used to be the research assistant of the most prominent sorcerer in the country which makes him look quite Advanced for someone of his age clenching her fists she then confronts Abel about why he's stealing all those goods from the shops at
her intense stare he remains calm saying they did it to survive as the girl is unsatisfied With his answer he sigh Yona declares that what they're doing is evil but Abel only tells her that she doesn't know what it's like to be poor if starving to death is Justice then it's better to oppose it the girl doesn't know how to respond only becoming red-faced in her frustration she then claims that she won't let him live as a thief as long as she's alive she then runs away leaving him feeling resigned suddenly there's a loud scream

an extravagant home in the Royal Capital Merchant administrator bakira is furious he can't understand why their sales are going down so much scowling ferociously he threatens to take away th's trading rights depending on his answer yona's father apologizes saying it's become harder for their businesses to perform well when bakira stamps his walking stick on the ground Thia flinches in fear the large man Chuckles Without Amusement asking thria if he still has problems with those rats when he already lent his men to him the kneeling man reasons that they're having trouble because there is a very
powerful sorcerer among those children all Thea knows is that the person is always present during the raids and whenever there's trouble he never fails to appear to save the children who are caught in a desperate situation the sorcerer uses Vivid magic and due to his Ingenuity and Power they always manage to escape there are a few things they know about the boy he has has black eyes and is as agile and Nimble as a cat because of this some scared Merchants have started referring to him as the black cat bakura has had enough declaring that
he's now going to take care of the rest when Thea asks what the other man plans to do bakira Smiles wickedly saying he knows someone who's an expert at Exterminating rats he then blames Thea for needlessly giving The children sympathy making yonas father nervous he reflects that black cat is so strong that he can easily deal with an army of armed men a few days later Yona heads towards the sewers where Abel is currently relaxing in his room when she arrives at his door she demands that he come out however having stayed up late studying
magic he doesn't feel inclined to deal with the loud girl just then she explains about how long his eyelashes are she leans over musing About how Abel has such a nice face drooling a bit she then predicts that he's going to be quite handsome in the future finally waking up he questions why she's visiting so early causing Yona to be surprised that he's been awake all this time huffing he then asks what she wants from him as she hesitates to answer he wonders if she truly does not understand that it's better for them not to
get involved with each other suddenly she grabs his hand demanding that he Follow her as there's a place she wants him to see he stares at her for a bit before saying he doesn't mind but requests that she get off him finally realizing their compromising position she jumps back quickly and blushes hard though there's an authorized personnel only sign in front of them it doesn't stop Yona from bringing able over the fence to see the ocean afterward she reveals that the place she wants to show him is just up ahead but then there's Another fence
before them causing AEL to question if what they're doing is really okay she insists it's fine as all the fishermen are her friends still he thinks that doesn't mean he won't get in trouble in the end he decides to go along with her anyway they walk through narrow paths encounter snakes and eventually arrive at their destination his eyes widen upon seeing the beautiful beach in front of them immediately Yona gets into the water expressing how Beautiful the view is she smiles brightly continuing to Splash her feet on the shore abble is quite amazed as he
has never been up close to the Sea before Yona tells him that she thought about bringing a swimsuit but it's still too cold to go swimming she then reveals that she intended for able to wear the swimsuit not her he then expresses his puzzlement asking if she really did just call him out to show him the ocean grinning she tells him the view is just A bonus she then goes to a shed and leans over looking for something while Abel just stares at her finally she finds a fishing rod and hands another one to him
later Abel manages to catch a fish which yaa calls a h as he's looking quite fascinated she starts talking more about the fish and how it's easy to peel off its skin just when Yona thinks she has caught her first fish she quickly reels it and only to discover that the fish got away with the bait again which Is also the case for Abel she believes there are still fish in the water but they grown wary of the bait he then asks her if it's all right for him to catch the fish without using a
fishing rod she assumes that he's thinking of using a net but he clarifies that it's not that he thinks it would be easier for him to catch fish using magic Yona becomes curious and observes him as he dips his hand into the water just a second later a magic circle appears causing the water To swirl up until a fish is visible seeing able easily controlling the water stuns Yona soon enough a fish separates from the water wiggling helplessly in the air she stares utterly in awe of the whirlpool of water that seems to encase both
of them she spots another fish which lands right on her head she splutters and able apologizes but once she recovers she can't stop exclaiming how amazing he is now that there are a number of fish flopping on the ground Yona quickly collects them all happily saying that they have a big catch it fills up three pales which is quite a lot and based on her calculation they'll be able to earn 4,000 calls for all the fish they then head to a place where Yona claims she can haggle with the fisherman Abel is quite surprised as
4,000 calls is enough to cover food expenses for an entire month if spent frugally a couple of minutes later Yona returns falsely assuming that abble Became lonely without her presence when he asks how the negotiation went she proudly reveals that she really has a talent for business before handing him a pouch of money when she reveals that it's their entire earnings he states that he'll gratefully accept the money but he's fine with just taking half of the amount suddenly she falls silent and it takes her a while before she says that Abel need not worry
about her part of the earnings in front of her kindness Abel thinks that it's smarter to live a life taking advantage of others but he's simply not shrewd enough to live a life like that he agrees to take the money but in exchange he wants her to introduce him to the next job as well Yona is surprised and it confuses Abel when she suddenly crouches down it turns out that the girl is blushing hard feeling quite giddy that she got his interest suddenly standing up and exhaling loudly she confidently tells Him to leave it to
her promising to make Abel Rich he thinks think she's being absurd but with the amount of money he can make in a day it'll definitely improve the children's lives he figures out that her plan must be to give him a job so he could stop stealing she then Giggles as she steps into the ledge looking forward to the next time they hang out he warns her that she might fall again and offers her his hand which she takes she instructs him not to let Go of her leaving him quite a bit confused as he doesn't

would certainly elicit a reaction from the fishermen if they kept over fishing having foreseen that he thinks that Yona is quite the talented and shrewd Merchant she then announces that they've arrived at their client's house who turns out to be a woman who's friends with Yona when the woman turns to Abel the first thing she notices is His Amber eyes which takes her about the woman sounds hesitant as she inquires about him but Yona cheerfully introduces her companion as the one she told her about earlier she tries to convince the woman that Abel is manly
but the woman is more concerned if it's going to be okay since she fears the color of his eyes Abel knows what's going on inside the woman's head as he has experienced the same reaction again and again from other people he's tired of the deeply Rooted hostility against people with the color of his eyes clenching her wrists Yona reassures the woman that it's going to be okay as able is a very kind boy the girl tells her to leave the job to them and though she's quite hesitant at first the woman eventually Smiles trusting Yona
fully the girl is grateful and it makes Abel think that she might just be the person able to dispel other people's distrust towards him later when yon asks about the job they're going to Tackle the woman states that it'll be faster if they see it for themselves she was hoping that they could help her get rid of it upon arriving at their destination she shows them a towering Boulder According to some nearby Farmers the large Rock didn't even budge when all the men in the village tried to move it they can't fathom what a couple
of short kids can do even Yona comments that it's quite a big rock with a dark look on her face the woman addresses Abel telling him to get rid of it with his magic he sigh deeply Andoid that she's acting arrogant but he can't complain as she's currently a customer as he's thinking about taking some precautions Yona Whispers in his ear asking if he's going to be all right he assures her that the rock isn't going to be much of a problem though he does wonder inwardly if he should use a powerful spell in public
standing in front of the rock he activates his Attached magic which lessens the endurance of the rock yon is confused about what he just did making him realize that she must not know about granting magic which is a form of magic that blackeyed people are able to cast vaguely he explains that it's just a spell to move the rock she Chuckles commenting on how weird it is that he's being vague feeling like he's being misunderstood he decides to ignore her now that the preparations are done the Next step for him is to destroy the boulder
as he raises a hand the three of them fall silent each looking quite tense with his Amber eyes glowing Abel gives the rock a normal flick and immediately it seems to split apart much to the woman's shock yona's eyes widen as The Rock continues to crack but Abel isn't surprised soon the Towering Boulder collapses into many pieces destroyed in just one flick seeing the destruction of such a large Rock the Client looks absolutely flored pieces of the boulder are sent flying back observing what just happened Abel becomes contemplative thinking he had miscalculated his power and
now it's going to be a pain to clean up if he had just added a little more magic to that flick he might have blown the rock into particle siiz pieces he's thinking that the client will blame him for the mess glancing to his side he spots the client still looking shocked on the ground Trembling horribly he thinks he has failed in pleasing the the customer with his work the client asks him what kind of magic he just did but her reaction isn't one of fear but genuine awe when she questions who he is Abel
doesn't know how to answer suddenly the nearby Farmers approach them they too are stunned at what Abel has just done as they had thought it impossible for someone to blow a large Boulder into pieces The Men start asking for his Services as they too have large rocks in their fields when they start fighting over Abel Yona intervenes saying that for appointments they'll have to go through her ael's manager looking quite sheepish one farmer comments that they really are no match for Yona odd that she could find such talented individuals Abel thinks that he's not that
talented it's Yona who's The Talented one for she can gain anyone's trust in just a short time excitedly the girl tells him that If he fulfills everyone's requests he'll earn a quite large sum of money Abel Muses that he once thought his power was the only thing making his life worthwhile but he's been proven wrong the girl elbows him claiming that they're quite Duo when she states that she's looking forward to working with him again Abel is surprised he privately smiles thinking that with yona's connections and his magic power everything will go smoothly he has
Started believing that everything would change for the better not knowing that something tragic is going to happen soon meanwhile the kids and the sewers are living their usual lives when someone unfamiliar suddenly arrives at their home the kids turn around only to see a looming Dark Shadow approaching them in the Royal Capital Yona Chuckles quite satisfied as they have shopped quite a lot she hopes that the kids will like the stuff they bought Abel asks if she's Really fine buying this much stuff for the kids but she replies that she gets to decide for herself
where she wants to spend her money besides by doing this Abel doesn't need to Rob stores anymore he wonders if she had planned for this to happen but truthfully he doesn't really care that she got what she wanted when they finally reach the sewer entrance Yona is exhausted Abel says he can go ahead first but she immediately tells him to wait she pauses for a bit Saying that she's wearing a skirt that day when he says he really doesn't get what she's trying to say the girl pouts before shoving all of the purchases into Abel's
arms looking at him suspiciously she declares that Abel is not allowed to go down first making him wonder what she thinks he's going to do inside the sewers Yona comments that It's oddly quiet that day Abel silently agrees as normally the children would be making a bunch of noise also there's a nostalgic Smell in the air a smell that reminds him of his past he hurries further into the sewers only to pause upon seeing a horrific sight dropping her bags of groceries Yona also has a similar reaction in front of them lay the bodies of
the children that Abel thinks of his family blood is everywhere and not a single one seems to be moving the scene is so terrible especially with the children's blood changing the color of the water in the sewers Yona can't Believe that this is happening and she collapses to the ground losing her strength Abel thinks that he can't just stand there and immediately activates his magic he enhances his his sight searching among the bodies for anyone who's still alive finally he spots one it's Rick who's looking almost dead able uses his recovery magic allowing the boy
to reveal what happened according to him an unknown guy suddenly appeared in the sewers urgently he tells Abel not to Worry about him and to just get out of there Abel tells him that it's okay that he'll take care of the rest but still Rick insists he just run away and suddenly he freezies he screams in pain as his body levitates in the air Abel and Yona have no idea what's going on the former trying to figure out if Rick is already under the enemy's magic attack just then Rick's body is torn into two the
boy blood spraying all over them seemingly out of nowhere sharp Tendrils of blood suddenly lunge at them using his magic Abel jumps back neatly Landing a good distance away as drops of blood fall to the ground the culprit of the massacre reveals himself a scary looking man who's hellbent on Exterminating all who he perceives as rats the man wastes no time in attacking and soon blood blades are heading toward Abel looking very serious the teen Shields himself against every attack Yona worries not noticing that the enemy Is about to attack her as well thankfully she's
protected by Abel's magic just in the nick of time fully understanding the situation yaa backs away Abel hopes that she remains safe as there's nothing she can do against the man he quickly shifts his Focus toward the enemy who comments that Abel is quite good which is fortunate as he's still quite un satisfied after fighting kids who only know a handful of Tricks Abel quickly assesses the man is strong With magic that allows him to manipulate blood the team continues to dodge and upon landing on the water he manipulates it to create a wall but
the stranger only tells him that these cheap tricks won't work on him once he dispels the wall of water Abel reaches forward turning some of it into a sword of ice he quickly executes an attack which manages to hit the man much to the ladder's Amusement just as his ice blade breaks someone creeps up from behind Yona who immediately lets out a shriek the girl's captor is bakira who is quite elated that he has three's daughter in his hands Abel recognizes the man as the most powerful person who leads the biggest Merchant Corporation in the
capital Yona fights back against bakira but the man tells her that she's already his property as he and thria had already discussed it when the mercenary whose name is horen questions if he should kill the two remaining teens bakira Tells him Mel as he's planning to take the girl with him when he reveals that horen is from the chaos raid Abel's eyes widen horn belongs to the same organization as gas bakira instructs horn to finish the boy which the other man is glad to oblige just then blood from the children's corpses starts to flow out
Yona looks even more horrified while Abel only glares horn has just used the children's blood to form a large orb he starts attacking while Abel Quickly defends himself using his Shields the teen has already predicted that the front Spears are faints and that the real attacks are coming from the back the blood blades aim for the ceiling intending for it to collapse soon rocks start falling down and one particularly large Boulder lands exactly where Abel has been standing much to yona's horror yonas screams while bakira is gleeful saying it's the punishment for running wild on
his Turf he laughs As the loathsome brats are finally dealt with the merchant says that he should have hired horn much sooner only for the mercenary to tell him that the boy still lives hearing that able managed to escape Yona allows herself to hope horen commends the boy for managing to defend against his attacks twice bakira becomes Furious telling horen not to let the boy get away the sorcerer reassures him that he's going to hunt the boy down while he's still closed meanwhile Yona tear up Feeling relieved that Abel is still alive the merchant notices
this and demands she stand up before saying she'll be coming with him back here reminds her that she's now his property leaving the girl Des sparing at what he might do to her as they leave horen surveys the scene wondering where the boy went in the past Abel was told by the younger kids that they had found a hidden path there are a lot of ways to access it which Abel finds quite useful At that time he had thought that the underground Pathways had been made so the royal family could Escape in case of demon
invasions seeing the benefit of the Hidden paths Abel tells Rick that these paths will be very important for them in the future and so requests that Rick gather the other kids and investigate the hidden path for him in the present Abel emerges from one of the Hidden paths grunting and huffing letting out a sigh able recalls how dark And quiet the sewers can be and once again he's all alone after having lost everything after returning to the surface Abel keeps to himself musing that the wound horn gave him still hurts despite him casting recovery Magic
on it wiping his face he thinks about how all his companions were just murdered determined Abel begins to move recalling yona's words about how wrong it is to destroy others ways of living for one's own benefit he reflects on how his Limited knowledge of magic had made him feel Almighty he chuckled bitterly it turns out he couldn't even protect a single girl in front of him Dawning his mask abble swears to avenge his comrades before jumping into the air he won't be able to move forward if he doesn't inside three's Mansion yona's father is slumped
on a table evidently drunk upon Abel's arrival the man jolts awake mistaking Abel's shadowy figure for yonas but then he quickly realizes that It's the infamous black cat when three asks him why he's there Abel tells him that his daughter is gone a man in Black had carried her away way thria can't believe it he's shocked that bakura really hired the chaos raid Abel reveals that bakura had called Yona his property and asks what the merchant meant by that yona's guilty father gulps and admits that he's in debt bakira had promised to clear the debt
if three agreed to give him his daughter in marriage Abel has no Words for him even as the man tries to explain that bakura's offer was not a bad deal for them when he insists that Yona didn't object to bakura's proposal Abel simply states that the girl probably didn't want to express her unhappiness in his mind he Likens yonah to a Cage Bird boldly Abel states that he's going to clean the mess up and thria needs to make sure that Yona is going to get her Freedom when the man argues that Outsiders should not butt
Into their family matters he becomes shocked when suddenly the table is sliced in half with his Amber eyes glowing Abel says that thria doesn't need to speak anymore horrified a man lands on his bottom pointing to Abel's eyes and saying their amber just like a demons in the next moment black cat disappeared thria looks around for him only to freeze when the teen Whispers in his ear to give Yona her freedom because if thria refuses black cat swears to Dispatch him with a Snicker he once again vanishes now finally left alone Thea collapses back into
his seat letting out relieve breath after surviving an encounter with black cat in his Mansion vure Chuckles gleefully feeling quite satisfied after Exterminating the kids he thinks of his rats he Praises horn for a job well done to which the man replies he simply did what he had to do the merchant is also feeling quite happy as he has gotten his Hands on Thea's daughter pulling the girl closer he admires her beauty saying he's looking forward to making her his suddenly he rips off her ribbon much to her shock bakira starts acting very inappropriately as
he questions horn about his taste in women the mercenary only states that he doesn't dabble in worldly desires which makes the merchant think he's quite dull bakira invites horn to have fun with his soon Tobe wife but the sorcerer's disinterest is clear And he reminds bakira of the payment that he had promised him looking at the mercenary's cold eyes the merchant clicks his tongue and switches his tune asking how much he owes horen when the other man demands 500,000 calls for his work the greedy Merchant is shocked though he can still afford the price he
can't believe that he has to blow all that money on mere R extermination yona's attention is caught when bakira reminds horen that his job isn't done Until the black cat is dead while the girl starts worrying deep ly for Abel horn agrees that bakira has a point the merchant commands the mercenary to go looking for the boy but the latter says that there's no need for him to lead the place to do that scoffing bakira tells him that he's free to watch as he gets a little more excited when someone else is watching him have
fun turning his attention toward Thea's daughter he messes with the girl's plot intending to Slowly enjoy himself that night inwardly Yona pleads for able to save her and in the next second the room is hit with a large boom yona's eyes filled with hope while bakira becomes shocked on the other hand horn Smiles excitedly looking around the room bakira becomes hysterical upon seeing his destroyed Mansion Yona who's thankfully left alone suddenly sits up in attention Abel has just arrived with his MK dawned apologizing to Yona for being late as he Made a little deeder while
the girl tear up in relief bakira starts to shake as right in front of him is the Black Cat the merchant is confused while horn tells Abel that he has been impatiently anticipating their reunion seeing Yona nearby the boy is relieved as that saves him the trouble of looking for her bakir becomes angry at Abel's audacity and declares that he'll have the black cat exterminated just like the other rats which triggers a ferocious anger in able The merchant then commands horn to finish off the boy which the mercenary again obliges grabbing a dagger horn comments
that the blade is pretty revealing that he's been polishing it the whole time while he was waiting for able to show up Suddenly he pierces himself with it stunning both teens present in the room as blood flows out from his wound horn manipulates the red liquid to form into blades quickly he starts attacking but Abel is ready for Him quickly defending himself against the vicious red blades using his magic he strengthens his arms allowing himself to escape Horn's attack while Abel observes that horen is using his own blood to use his magic the mercenary appreciates
the look in the teen's eyes and starts attacking relentlessly due to the difference in body size horen is currently overpowering Abel but the boy has a plan he's thinking of freezing Horn's blood blades and using his magic He can do it in a matter of second he starts manipulating the temperature but the mercenary has no intention of letting him cast a spell he starts changing the shape of his blades before launching an attack toward the boy with a switch AEL spins shattering Horn's blood blades everyone is shocked especially the mercenary who realizes that Abel had
been waiting for the moment the blades lost strength while horn was reshaping them it should have Been impossible as only those with black eyes can do that still in disbelief Horn's thoughts are interrupted when Abel drives a sword into his body time seems to stand still as the other two people in the room look shocked at the turn of events Horn's hat falls to the ground but to Able's surprise the mercenary manages to block his attack quickly he puts distance between them trying to assess what just happened he eventually realizes that horen increased His defensive
Power by hardening the blood in his veins the boy thinks horen shouldn't have enough blood to both defend and attack at the same time so there's still a very big possibility for him to come up on top just then vur yells telling horen that his opponent is just a mere brat and demands that he quickly dispatch the boy with a disgusted look in his eyes horn tells backu to shut up before injuring his client's midsection the merchant is Stunned while Yona looks on in Surprise as bakira falls to the ground screaming horen only Chuckles saying
he's a bit short on Blood bakira starts looking very scared and as he had thought blood is drawn out from his body it drains the Merchant's body turning him emaciated and finally he collapses looking quite like a skeleton right in front of yona's eyes once again horen is in possession of a blood orb the mercenary watches his opponent noting that the boy seems Surprised by what just happened horen reveals that he never had much interest in completing the job no matter how much money he makes it never gives him a sense of satisfaction only in
fighting incapable people does he find happiness he admits that he never expected to become such a person and now he declares that it's time for him to stop playing around with bakira dead and yon still Bound by her wrists horn enable continue their fight they start attacking each Other at faster speeds with the mercenary taunting the boy if he can keep up with him an attack from horen pierces Abel's cheek and though the boy tries to retaliate Horn's quick thinking allows him to land a kick on the boy Abel flinches trying to recover quickly the
older man doesn't give him a chance to rest forcing able to quickly defend himself with his Shields the two charge at each other and Abel's sword is blocked by Horn's blades not allowing Him to proceed even an inch Abel feels alarmed as the mercenary's offensive and defensive Spears aren't allowing him to find an opening horen intends to find out how long Abel can last and grabs his blades the mercenary hopes that the boy won't disappoint him too much horns blood blades are everywhere and Abel has to give his all just to dodge them the older
man asks if Abel is already out of steam and the boy thinks that there's a good chance that the fight won't end Well for him he needs to find a blind spot but Horn's offense and defense are simply superb he Dodges yet again making Yona very worried activating his magic the boy sends wind blades toward the mercenary who easily deflects his attacks horn wonders if this is all able can show him then he states he knows the boy still has something up his sleeve while Abel realizes that it's hard to win with a frontal attack
Yona struggles with her bonds desperately trying to Lose them eventually Horn's blood blades injure AEL in multiple places causing him to kneel on the floor from the pain horn states that the boy has fallen short of his expectations and says it's time for them to stop playing he immobilizes Abel before piercing the boy with his blood blades the teen coughs up blood and just as Yona manages to free herself she calls out Abel's name only to realize he's not moving anymore shocked Yona refuses to believe what She's seeing meanwhile horen stares at the boy saying
it's his own fault he sigh admitting that he set his expectations of Abel a little too high but then a voice comments that horn seems to have had a good dream the mercenary is alarmed especially when the unmoving boy before him starts to fade away leaving only his mask to clatter on the ground Horn's eyes widen stumped at what he had just witnessed he thinks that surely this must not be a Hallucination recalling that this kind of magic is something a certain person had used before Abel says that since horn is also from chaos raid
it's only natural that he'd know about his teacher right in front of him Abel looks uninjured much to yona's relief the boy clarifies that it was his teacher who invented the theoretical basis of the spell but it was he who refined it to the point that he can use it in battle horen starts laughing looking quite Amused he exclaims that how wonderful it is that Abel's Talent is even more outstanding than he anticipated the mercenary summons his blood blades again surprising Yona as the man still has so much Mana left in reserve but then abble
says that horen is already defeated when the man asks what he's talking about his skin starts buttling while while his veins begin to bulge horn screams in pain as he collapses the teens look on as the man becomes bewildered at having His own magic used on him the mercenaries assumption is correct it's been 6 hours since their first battle in the sewers which is a lot of time for able to analyze and copy Horn's Magic parts of Horn's body start blowing up his blood vessels bursting he can't believe that he's going to die like this
after he collapses Horn's blood flows out from his body only to gather into an orb in front of Abel who now has the magic to manipulate and fight with blood Callously he flings the blood away thinking it was a lopsided fight as he was the only one who couldn't afford to lose coming from outside the building something catches Abel's attention it's now bearing a letter in its beak Yona has no idea what's happening but still Abel takes the letter which turns out to be an invitation from the chaos raid instructing him to go to a
certain place as the owl flies away Abel realizes that among the ways to enter the chaos raid One way is to kill a member of the organization afterward Abel brings Yona home who then thanks him now that he has successfully Avenged his comrades he no longer has a reason to stay in the city reaching out a hand Yona then hugs him from the back as he glances at her she quietly asks if they're going to meet again someday he Huffs before reassuring the girl that they will which is a lie Yona feels relieved as she
feels like this is the last time she will see him AEL steps away a frown on his face before using his magic to jump away calling out his name Yona swears that they'll definitely meet again causing Abel's heart to clench he thinks he just felt pain as if he had been stabbed in a fight
