wait a second are those tinyy Paws following you around again maybe you caught a glimpse of glowing eyes peeking from behind a corner or heard the soft thump of a tail hitting the floor as your furry little detective watches your every move but why why does your cat insist on following you from room to room like a pint-sized shadow no they're not keeping tabs on you for a secret stash of cat treats or playing a game of cat burglar in this video we're uncovering the real reasons why your feline friend seems to be on your
tail everywhere you go reasons that will definitely surprise you but before we dive in don't forget to subscribe and join our community of cat lovers reason number one we know we were just joking about your fur baby being like a little detective perhaps a perlock Holmes or Nancy Mew but cats do genuinely have a love of investigating things as any cat parent knows they say that curiosity killed the cat but if that were actually the case then there'd scarcely be any cats Left Alive in fact one of the major reasons why our fur babies like
to follow us around is that they simply want to know what we're up to it's worth remembering that we humans are very peculiar creatures from the perspective of our cats a lot of our behaviors are extremely odd from a feline perspective and perhaps it would be better to think of them as little scientists studying us to find out more than as detectives your cat doesn't know why you spend ages staring at that funny screen with the lights on it or why you sometimes pass out for 8 hours straight or why you seem to have access
to so much food when they've never seen you successfully hunt anything but they hope that by following you around they can find out reason number two you remember those long days when you were a kid as especially during the summer when your friends were on vacation and you didn't have anyone to hang out with and you spent all day moping about the house moaning about how bored you were well your cat can sometimes feel the same way cats need novelty in their lives and batting around their toy mice or climbing up their cat tree won't
always cut it sometimes they feel the need for something a bit more interesting to keep them entertained and luckily they have the best toy imaginable you from your cat's perspective you are the final word in entertainment why wouldn't they follow you around for a bit to watch you going about your day after all can you honestly say you've never spent time watching your cat it goes both ways reason number three you might notice your kitty following you around more frequently at certain times of day specifically right before meals cats are very good at picking up
on routines in fact they love them knowing what's going to happen happen next makes them feel safe and secure but to the constant Chagrin of cats everywhere us humans are much less good at following routines we try of course but life often gets in the way and it's easy to lose track of time and forget what you're supposed to be doing your cat is well aware of this and after a few instances of you taking too long taking a work call or finishing up an episode of your favorite TV show your kitty might feel the
need to jog your memory a bit this might not only happen with meals cats are of course famously obsessed with food so keeping to that particular routine is especially important in fact some enterprising cats might have a go at reminding you a few minutes before their scheduled meal time in the hopes of snagging themselves an early snack but they also like things in general to happen at ordered times so if you find your kitty following you around at around the time you'd normally go to bed then that's their way of trying to remind you that
it's bedtime reason number four imitation really is the sincerest form of flattery but if you're not aware that that's what your kitty is doing or even if you are then it can also be very irritating one of the most common reasons why cats like to follow their humans around is because they're engaging in a behavior known as mirroring mirroring is something that cats do with other cats in their social group to help strengthen social bonds essentially it's about joining in with another Kitty's activities as a form of quality time if your kitty seems to be
not only following you around but also trying to take part in whatever you're doing then mirroring may be what they're doing that's not to say that it's easy to spot cats aren't always great at imitating human behaviors especially since they don't generally understand why we do the things we do your cat's attempt at helping you at work for example might look a lot like they're just randomly walking across your keyboard while their attempt at helping with the laundry might result in your freshly clean clothes getting covered in cat hair reason number five we all get
anxious sometimes and our cats are more prone to it than most scaredy cat is a phrase for a reason after all cats are prey animals and even though your home hopefully doesn't have any large Predators hiding behind the couch or under the bed your Kitty's hind brain thinks that that it's still living in the African jungle where their species evolved no wonder they get anxious fortunately help is at hand one of the best ways that our cats have to soothe their anxiety is you guessed it following us around your kitty has hopefully learned from an
early age that you are somebody that they can trust to protect them as a result when they start feeling Twitchy and the Shadows start to look extra menacing they know that hanging around with you is the thing that will calm them down after all you're strong enough to fight off any monster right reason number six this one is maybe a bit less flattering than the others we all hope that our kitties will follow us around because they consider us to be wonderful people who are worthy of their constant attention but sometimes things can get a
bit simpler than that sometimes the thing that your fur baby really wants is a warm object to snuggle up to and our warm human bodies just happen to fit the bill it's not entirely their fault our kitties feel the cold more than we do and we humans are incredibly good at keeping ourselves toasty warm not only is your body heat something that your kitty can shamelessly take advantage of but on a cold day you'll likely be using various human technological advancements to keep yourself warm the room you work in is likely to be the warmest
one in the house and if you've decided to incorporate some kind of cat attracting treat such as an electric blanket then how can you expect your fur baby to resist reason number seven there's nothing like a visit from your fur baby to brighten up a dull day of work or chores so on the days when they follow you around you probably take breaks in whatever you're doing to let them know how much you appreciate them breaks are important after all especially if you get to spend them cuddling your cat little did you know however that
by taking the opportunity of being followed around to get in some petting time you're actually playing right into your Kitty's Paws your cat knows that following you around increases their chances of being pet and that's why they do it inadvertently you've trained them into becoming your little Shadow reason number eight the final reason why your fur baby follows you is also the sweetest leaving aside all this talk of ulterior motives from looking for some extra warmth or pets to seeking entertainment to Simply being curious about your activities the most likely reason why your kitty is
following you around is because they love you you and your cat have a special bond to them you're the greatest thing since wet cat food and they're eager to let you know about it even if it means tailing you around all day following you isn't the only way that your kitty shows their appreciation for all you do however check out this video to learn about your cat's ability to help you out by warning you about people in your life who are secretly bad news
