Hey, this is August 172 from Beast Game season 2, and I think a lot of people would be really interested to know about what actually happened before we started filming episode 1. Now, this is content you're probably only going to get on this channel, so make sure you guys hit the subscribe button and the notification bell to get more content like this. And let's get right into talking about what it was actually like before filming episode 1.
To backtrack a little bit, I found out I was going to be on Beast Game season 2 around midMay, and we flew out to Vegas on the 30th. Now, once we got to Vegas, we knew we were supposed to be looking for someone wearing summer camp attire. So, I land in Las Vegas where we knew we were flying.
And I hop on the phone cuz I know they're going to take our phones. I give my mom a call. I give my dad a call.
My wife a call because at this point, I have no idea what's happening. As far as I know, I might be gone for, you know, 2 months. Who really knows what's going to happen?
It's beast games. So, I didn't know the last time I was going to talk to them. So, I call my family and then I turn my phone off and I walk to where they told me to walk.
I think they said walk to, you know, baggage claim 10 or something and look for people wearing summer camp attire cuz that was kind of like their hidden name. Obviously, they can't wear Beast Game stuff in the airport because it's all, you know, under the radar. Nobody knows what's going on.
So, I pull up to Beggars Claim 10 and I see this giant sign that says summer camp and there's these two girls wearing summer camp shirts and they're like, "Hey, are you here for summer camp? " And I'm like, "Yeah, I am. " I asked her for my name.
They signed me off on a clipboard, whatever. And then one of them took me uh out. She was like, "Okay, we're going to take you to your car and we're going to drive you right to the hotel because, you know, it's it's it's time to get going on this stuff.
" So, she walks me outside and I see this giant, this is a true story. I see this giant pink stretched Hummer like 40 ft long and I'm like uh and she's like yeah this is your ride and so she helps me get into the back of the pink Hummer and completely empty. I'm the only person in there and I'm just sitting here had just landed in Vegas.
[music] I'm in a 20ft Pink Hummer and I'm about to fight for $5 million on the world's biggest game show. I'm just like again I'm I'm pinching myself. Doesn't even feel real.
Weirdest feeling. So we drive the hotel is maybe about 20 minutes away from the airport. We get to the hotel.
We get stationed in this giant room. Again, they walk me into this like giant like convention room off the side of the hotel. Kind of like a a a holding room or or convention center room, guy kind of thing.
And there's about 30 other contestants in that room and they sit me down and they say, "Okay, you can have your phone still, but you can't look at anyone. You can't talk to anyone. " They It's called hard ice in the show business.
They don't let me talk to anyone. So, I sit down and I'm sitting there kind of looking around. I'm like, "What is going on?
" And also, I'm kind of sizing people up. I'm like, "Okay, what's the competition look like? " I'm by far the smallest dude there.
There's a bunch of 68 jack dudes. Just gigantic people and I'm like, "Oh, shoot. " Like this is kind of I'm kind of looking I'm kind of like trying to look at I'm trying to kind of like get eye contact people to like get an early an early edge or something like see if I can like make like a you know get a little nod to someone.
But yeah, then they processed us. They uh they had us move from that room and they had us kind of sit in this line of chairs. They had us turn in our phones or all of our devices.
So we had no phones, you know, for the entire time. They say you get your phone back once you're eliminated. Um, and again, at this point, we really don't know what's happening.
We go and talk to story team. We talk to the nurse. They go through and look at all of our bags, make sure all our stuff passes the regulations, make sure we're not hiding any devices, things like that.
And then what we do is they bring us to our rooms. We get locked in our room and they're like, "Yeah, uh, we'll let you guys know, you know, when we need you next. " So, we sat in our room for probably 2 hours.
And again, you can't talk to any contestants at this point. I have spoken to literally nobody. So, I'm just sitting there in my hotel room like, [music] like, what is going on?
And then I get a white note slipped under my door that says, "Hey, like we're going to be coming around in an hour to bring you guys down to get dinner. " So they let all the contestants out. Um or they kind they go in, obviously we don't know how many contestants there are, but they let out, you know, maybe 50 contestants at a time.
And we go down to where the food is. We eat this really delicious dinner. All the food was fantastic.
And we can grab a bunch of snacks. They have all you can eat snacks. But again, at this point, we still can't talk to anybody.
I've still talked to nobody. So I'm just sitting there not I'm just kind of looking around. We're not allowed to talk to each other.
We're all just staring at each other like, "What is going on? " It was it was the craziest experience of my entire life. It was just so strange just like being in this room looking around and you know you're going to be competing against all these people.
You're never going to be talking to them but you have to wait and you're just sitting there and they load us back up into the room and and again we landed on a Friday. So this is all on that first Friday. They they sent us all back to our hotel rooms and they had a note under our door that said like be ready by 1:00 p.
m. And you know we're not really talking to anyone. We haven't spoken to anyone yet.
We're just kind of like getting these notes. We're all supposed to be quiet. We're not allowed to talk.
And if you're caught talking to people they're like you know they they get really upset. So wake up the next day. It's Saturday.
Same thing happens. We all get loaded into this giant room in in groups of people. They have us go into these other rooms where we start getting sized for our outfits.
Uh we start taking some photos. They weighed us. They measured us.
They did some things like that. Um and then same thing, they sent us back to our hotel rooms. We sat in the hotel rooms for like 5 6 7 maybe even 8 hours doing nothing.
And then they call us down for dinner. Same thing. We can't talk to any contestants.
It's just dead quiet. Now, by day three on Sunday, that's when we were fitted in our uniforms. We're taking pictures.
We're doing interviews. We did this thing called the hero interview. So same thing, they call us down.
We did we did like interviews. We did some things. We did some content stuff.
And this is when contestants start to talk to each other a little bit. This is when we're like, "Okay, screw this whole hard ice thing. " This is when we first started kind of talking to each other.
We started making acquaintances. We're kind of whispering to each other. And I think the first some of the first people I remember meeting are Jack 58.
Uh Jonas 172, uh I can't think of his number at the time. Jake and Tyler 167, and a few other people like Mike Vicram, a couple other people. I start I start meeting a few contestants.
We're kind of starting to talk a little bit. This is where things get really cool. So, we know we're going to go out to dinner.
Like, okay, like we're going to we're going to have, you know, a dinner. It might be in a different location, but before that, we're going to have our first orientation. So, they bring a couple hundred of us into this room and at the time, again, we don't know how many contestants are there.
All we know is last season, they brought 2,000 contestants to Vegas. So, we're all sitting in this giant room. There's maybe 200 of us.
We assume it's everybody at this hotel. We're like, "Okay, there probably people at their hotels. " They introduce the psychologist.
He talks a little bit. They kind of talk about what's going to be going on, how we're going to be doing things, and so on and so forth. And then Sean Cliffner gets up there.
Shout out Sean. He's an amazing dude. Love this guy.
He stands up on the stage and he says, "Hey, as you guys know, Beast Games, you know, we had 2,000 contestants in season 1. Uh, so you guys are probably all wondering like how many times do I have to give this speech talking about the games, what we're going to be doing, and we're all kind of sitting there holding our breath. " And he goes, "This is the only time there's 200 contestants in there's 200 contestants.
You guys are the show. " And we just freaking instantly we get so every I think we there was a standing ovation cuz we're all so fired up. We're all looking around the room realizing and at this point again we had we had whispered, we' kind of made friends with each other.
At this point, we're realizing, oh my goodness, we all right now, before we even started filming, have half a percent chance at $5 million. $5 million. That is such a good chance.
And also, we're all realizing, hey, we all have pretty good odds to go far in the show. We all have pretty good odds to be on camera a lot. Like, it's a really exciting feeling because going into it, we're like, "Yeah, we made Beast Games, super sick, but there's 2,000 contestants.
Like, it's going to be really, you know, it's going to be it's going to be hard. " He's like, "Yeah, you know, I think there were 500,000 applications. You 200, we picked all of you.
" And it was really special because Klitschner said to us, he said, "You guys are all special. We went through hundreds of thousands of applications. Then we, you know, we we got it down to 10,000 people and then a,000 people and then 500 and then and then finally the 200.
" He said, "We picked each and every single one of you for a specific reason. All of you guys are here for a reason. " And I am I'm couldn't be happier with this group.
And it was a really special moment just to realize like, "Wow, like they actually they see something in all of us. " Cuz especially for me once I got there, like kind of looking around sizing people up, I was like, "Dude, I've" and talking to people realizing everyone's like, "Oh, I'm a professional this. Oh, I played D1 that.
And I'm like, yeah, I was a played high school sports. So, it was kind of a cool moment to just like realize, wow, they see something in us and like they want us here for a reason. And it was really motivating and just really special.
And then after that, they loaded us up into these giant buses. I think this was the first time we got on these buses that we we end up getting on these a lot in between shoot. We get on these giant buses and they're like, "Okay, we're going out to dinner.
" So, we all, you know, I think before we got before we went to dinner, we all like dressed up. They're like, "Okay, put on your nice outfit. " Because they had us pack a nice outfit.
We put on a nice outfit. We load up in these giant buses. And keep in mind at this point we had not met Jimmy.
We had not met Carl Chandler, any of that. We drive over to Planet Hollywood about 20 minutes away. We go to this beautiful steakhouse, one of the nicest restaurants I think I've ever seen in my life.
The entire steakhouse is rented out for just us. So there's 200 of us in the steakhouse, and this is the first time they're like, "All right, you guys can talk. " So I was sitting at the table with with Nick18, Jake, Isaiah Lamb, uh Gloria, a bunch a bunch of cool people um you guys will see in the show.
I'm sitting at the table and I'm like, "Oh my goodness. " Like this is this is insane. And we're all talking like we're all meeting for the first time kind not not meeting for the first time but like we're all actually able to like converse a lot.
We're just talking and out of the corner of our eyes up rolls Jimmy and the guys. Jimmy's wearing these like ripped up Nike sweats, a white t-shirt, just like nonchalant rolling up and and this is the first time we've seen Jimmy again. This is my first time seeing Mr Beast in person.
And we're all just like he's really tall by the way. This guy's like 6'4, 65. We're all just like what the So he's like rolling up.
He's kind of saying hi to the tables. Carl, Nolan, and Chandler kind of go around say hi to all of us. And Jimmy's kind of standing there.
We're like this is insane. Then this is my favorite moment that this will probably be talked about. I don't know if you guys will ever hear this anywhere else, but Jimmy stands on the table and we were we were aware of the fact that we're all going to be given a $1,000 gift from Jimmy.
He didn't have to do it. Super nice of him. He all get he's going to give us $1,000.
We're allware aware of that. Cliter made that clear at the speech. We're all going to get $1,000.
Jimmy stands up on the table, pulls out a coin just like in episode 10 of Beast Game season 1. He holds the coin. He says, "All right, you guys know I'm giving you all a,000 bucks just as a nice little gift, but if you call this coin correctly, I'll give you all 2,000 instead of a,000.
But if you call it incorrectly, you guys all get nothing. And he's like, "All right, raise your hand if you guys want me to flip it. " We're all like, "Oh.
" Like, cuz you know, this is like a sick moment. Um, you know, it's the first time meeting Jimmy. So cool.
And so we have we have Chandler, I think, flip the coin. Chandler grabs the coin. We're all we called heads.
Chandler flips it, lands on tails. We're like, "No. " And then Jimmy's like, "All right, I'm going to give you guys a thousand anyways.
I think it's all good. " And so we all got fired up again. And it was just such a surreal moment to have, you know, Jimmy there and the 200 contestants at the steak dinner.
And we're just like, "This is nuts. Like this is insane. " Um, so that that night was crazy.
Um, I had I had really good conversations with the contestants. Again, every single contestant I met so cool. Such unique background.
I met aerospace engineers. I met professional athletes. I met literal rocket scientists, people that had made a, you know, a bunch of inventions.
Like the casting on the show, unbelievable. So, after that dinner, it's it's s it's uh, I believe Sunday or that was Saturday. So, that was like that whole time.
We wake up Sunday morning. Uh, we do a few more of like the the shoots, the sizing, that kind of thing. Now, this is where they start having us be a little bit more nocturnal.
They had us stay up really, really late this Sunday night because we were going to start filming episode one. So, what they did is they called us out to this tent. Um, and they had us practice basically our jumps into the crash pads.
Uh, and so we all went out there. We practiced our jumps into the crash pads. We did that till like 4:00 a.
m. 5:00 a. m.
maybe cuz they wanted us to stay up late. And then they're like, "All right, they again they're slipping those notes under our door. They're like, "All right, make sure you guys don't wake up until noon or something like that.
" Cuz they wanted us to start getting on nocturnal schedules cuz again with Beast Games, all the shoots are overnight. And what's funny is we got sequestered in our hotel rooms. And don't get me wrong, Beast Games is a ton of fun, but we got sequestered in our hotel room so much that one of my buddies, he was across the hall from me, Jonas 127.
You guys will see him in the show. He measured out how many feet long his hotel room was and did the math of how many lengths back and forth it would take to run a mile. And he ran five miles in his hotel room.
I'm telling you, the sequestering in the hotel rooms was insane work. We were in there for hours and hours and hours. Again, so much fun.
Looking back, it's a good memory now. But at the time, we were all like going crazy. We were losing our minds.
And so it was just such a fun experience cuz we're all just locked up. And again, you're sitting there, you're looking around at these people and you're like, what is you're meeting all these new people and you're all sitting there going like, we're going to fight for 5 million bucks. And again, the most memorable thing to me was that dinner that that you know, Jimmy rented out the nicest steakhouse in Vegas and let's us all eat there.
And then that Kissner speech when he was like, you know, telling us how we were all special to be there and then and you know, announcing that there were only 200 contestants. We were so I get chills thinking about it. I get chills thinking about we were so fired up.
But yeah, um I'm going to be posting a video reacting to episode 1 with another Beast Games contestant. We're going to be doing a lot of stuff as Beast Games comes out. We have a lot of content planned uh just with other contestants doing some really cool stuff.
