[Music] [Applause] by now you've probably heard of the ldv brand but you might not have heard of this this is the new deliver 9 which is the brand's new large van which is going to compete with some established players in the market and ldv reckons it's going to deliver on value for money first and foremost in fact it's done that for a long time ldv is established as a value player in our market and this vehicle well it definitely offers quite a bit for the money in fact it's about the same price as the base model diesel high ace van despite being the next size up yet this competes with the sprinter the ducato and the crafter you might be interested in large vans like this if you're considering turning one into a camper van but that's probably this much of the market the majority of van buyers are business people who are looking for a solution for their work they need something that does what they need it to do essentially and so in this review we're going to cover off what the deliver nine brings to the table [Music] in this review we're going to cover off all the important stuff that you probably want to know but if there's something in particular that you're most interested in you can scrub ahead the time codes are here or if you're watching on youtube you can find the chapter markers in the timeline below and that means you can just skip ahead to what interests you most you can read the full detailed review if you're watching on youtube you'll find the link in the description below and it's right next to the subscribe button which i'm sure you've already hit and also the bell icon which will keep you up to date with all of our latest content [Music] it's an all-new van and the deliver 9 has a fair few bases covered for buyers the price list for ldv deliver 9 vans is on screen now you might want to press pause and be sure to read the full review for all the details the model tested here is one ldv expects to sell plenty of it's the long wheelbase mid roof which we've got in automatic it's the second size up the ldv deliver 9 range choose the mid wheel base version and you have to have it as an automatic and it has to come with a standard mid roof height there's also a long wheel base which comes with the option of a high roof and it's available in manual and automatic this one is a long wheelbase mid-roof auto aside from the different lengths and heights the van range is identically equipped standard gear includes a 10. 1 inch touchscreen media system with apple carplay and bluetooth audio streaming there is no android auto however 16 inch steel wheels halogen headlights led daytime running lights auto headlights vinyl flooring cloth seat trim and air conditioning there are also 180 degree barn doors fitted to all vans plus a single curbside sliding door there's vinyl cargo area flooring and led interior lighting as well plus there are eight tie-down lashings in the load area there is an optional pack available you can read about that in the written review and ldv informs us that there's going to be a bunch of other options available like side glazing a driver's side sliding door and also a rear cargo barrier in the coming months so make sure you keep up to date with cars guide content so you can keep up to date with what's coming for the deliver nine there's also an 11 seat and 14 seat minibus and cab chassis versions to follow read the review for more info we haven't even got to the safety gear fitted which has taken a massive step forward from ldv vans of old [Music] there's more to the standard safety equipment list than just a reversing camera and rear parking sensors for the deliver 9. here is a rundown all deliver 9 models have auto emergency braking or aeb but it only works up to 30ks an hour and doesn't have pedestrian or cyclist detection there's also lane departure warning stability control hill hold assist and all models have six airbags dual front dual side and curtain airbag protection you can option a blind spot monitoring system but sadly there is no rear cross traffic alert available all models have cruise control and the automatics like this one have adaptive cruise control but it's not great there is also a 4.
2 inch digital screen in front of the driver which includes a digital speedometer now while i'm in the interior we may as well take a closer look [Music] the interior of the ldv deliver 9 is quite contemporary it actually looks really smart in here and a lot of that comes down to this nice big 10. 1 inch screen on top of the dashboard which includes apple carplay and bluetooth doesn't have android auto and that might matter to you and it doesn't have sat nav either so it is basically just a mirroring screen for your apple phone if you've got one and as you can see the display is bright it's pretty quick to react and it's not bad to use overall although again no android auto could be a deal breaker for some the cabin design is really quite smart it's not as i guess storage focused as some of its rivals but there is still quite a lot of storage as you can see we've got a phone sitting here there's a pop-out i guess that's an ashtray which is a bit weird this day and age but there's also cup holders on either side or bottle holders on either side of the dashboard and above there's this great big storage area for putting folders i call it a folder holder i don't know if that's common parlance or not but that's what i call it in the doors there are big pockets as well and is also a little clever storage section under the seats here which is really good every one of these ldv deliver nines comes with three seats at the front and yeah that's a two-seat bench so you can fit two people there it might be a little bit squeezy but this is a pretty wide cabin there's also in here it's still plastic wrapped because this is so new there's a thing where you can strap in your documents there and there's a pair of cup holders maybe i should take that plastic off anyway it's quite a nice cabin very smart very easy to live with and the seats are mostly pretty comfortable as well although i will say that there's only a arm rest on this side not on this side and as the driver you do find that you're sort of looking for somewhere to lean because the armrest is quite far away from you that's a minor ergonomic gripe and so is the fact that there is no reach adjustment for the steering there's only rake adjustment so that might matter to you as well particularly if you're particularly tall or especially short i'm neither i'm six foot and i'm pretty comfortable the usb port is here for the connection to the media screen there's another usb port down here which is kind of a weird placement in fact it is kind of a strange placement for both of them it could be a little bit messy just have a look at that awesome cable it's just sort of dangling there and it's always going to dangle there so maybe that might annoy you but anyway that's enough for what happens in the front part of the cabin let's take a look behind the seats to where the action happens the deliver 9 shapes up against vans like the mercedes sprinter the renault master the volkswagen crafter and also the fiat ducato and it's a big wide van this one is the long wheelbase mid roof model these figures are for the long wheelbase mid roof van which is the middleman in the deliver nine range if you get the long wheel base you get more length and if you add the high roof well you're going to get more load height read the full review for all the dimensions you'll find the link in the description if you're watching on youtube we'll cover off how it copes with the load in the driving section you can skip ahead to that if you like or you can stick with me and next we're going to take a look at the engine [Music] ldv is keeping things pretty simple when it comes to power options for the deliver nine there's only one option it's a two-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel with decent outputs for the class the transmission choices comprise a six-speed manual on some grades or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission which is what this test vehicle is running all deliver 9 models sold here are rear-wheel drive so if you're desperate for a front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive van you're going to have to shop elsewhere [Music] it's kind of funny in this class of vehicle you don't actually have to have an official combined cycle fuel number so there is no claimed fuel consumption that we can come back to to see how this vehicle performs against a claim and that's kind of weird because business buyers are more likely to want to know about the total cost of ownership for their vehicle and vans like this are business vehicles so it's really strange but the fact is there is no claim so we can't say how it goes against the claim what we can give you is what we've seen on this test which you'll see here and that's across a range of different driving from highway to open road to urban and loaded driving [Music] the deliver 9 comes with a 3-year and 160 000 kilometer warranty which is okay but it's not as good as its rivals some of which have five-year unlimited kilometer warranties but to give business customers a bit more clarity on what to expect the cost to be to keep their van or vans on the road the deliver 9 is the first ldv with capped price servicing there's an initial checkup at 5 000 k's but intervals then jump to 12 months or 30 000 kilometers next let's see how it drives [Music] [Applause] [Music] on the road with no load the deliver 9 is quite a comfortable thing to drive in fact it feels really easy to drive and this particular specification is suitable for anyone with a regular driver's license to jump behind the wheel and get going and i would actually feel comfortable recommending it to anyone to drive because it is really easy there's decent visibility you've got nice big mirrors with twin vision so you've got a tight lower vision section and also a decent broad spectrum mirror at the top but also you don't get blind spot monitoring which is a bit of an issue for a vehicle like this i think blind spot would be hugely helpful it's a shame that it's part of an option pack and not standard and rear cross traffic alert would be an awesome addition too but that's not available at all but otherwise it's really easy to drive it shrinks around you don't feel like you're driving something this large part of that comes down to the steering and in pretty much every large van that i've driven the steering has been a highlight and it's exactly the same in the deliver 9.
