I'm going to share with you some important tips that will help you improve your copywriting skills, and this is actually very essential for any successful internet marketer. Copywriting is basically the art and science of getting people to say yes. So, when you are promoting an offer or a product, your goal is to get people to say yes and buy the product or complete the offer.
If they say no, they leave your website, your landing page, your e-commerce store, or whatever it is, without generating any conversions and without making you any money. If they say yes, they buy the product or complete the offer, you get a conversion, and you make money. Your goal is always to get a yes from your visitors.
You don't need to become a copywriting expert in order to be a successful internet marketer. It's not something that you have to develop to a super high level, but developing this skill, even at a basic level, will help you get more conversions and make more money with your traffic. So, it's definitely something that you want to do.
You don’t need to become the best copywriter in the world, but you definitely don’t want to be the worst either. This video will show you some basic yet very effective strategies—things that are very easy to implement and that will be very useful when you start setting up your campaigns or when you start improving your existing campaigns. But this is not the end of the road.
You can keep studying and learning on your own; there are many other resources out there about copywriting that can help you improve your skills. Here are just some names of individuals for you to learn from. For example, Grant Cardone is a sales expert with lots of material about sales techniques for getting people to say yes.
He is definitely someone you want to learn a lot from. Then there’s Eric Whitman, the author of a well-known book among successful internet marketers called “Cashvertising. ” This book is not new, but the art and science of getting people to say yes is not new either.
The technologies have changed, the internet has changed, but there is still a person on the other side whom you need to persuade to say yes, and the process isn't very different. “Cashvertising” is a great book, highly recommended; you can buy it on Amazon or any other web store, and I’m sure you're going to enjoy reading it. It's short, straight to the point, covers lots of useful information, and I'm sure it will help improve your campaigns significantly.
There is also another guy who is now very famous, Jordan Belfort, because of the movie. Many people say that he did some really bad things and that he's not someone you should admire or anything, and I definitely agree. However, he does have some great selling skills.
Maybe he is not a good person, and his past is not something we should admire, but he still has great selling strategies, and he has courses and presentations where he teaches some of these strategies. You may be interested in learning from him as well. Now, let's get started with the lessons that will help you improve your conversion rate and make your campaigns more profitable.
As I said, this video will cover some basic concepts, but it will put you in the right direction, and then you can continue to do your own research after you finish watching it. The first thing you need to do is always ask yourself a few basic questions. If you're going to promote a product or sell something, you have to understand what type of campaign you need to structure and what arguments you should use to persuade people to buy your product or complete your offer.
The first basic question is: What are you selling? What am I selling? If I'm trying to sell something, and if I'm not selling a product but promoting an offer that converts upon a free registration, for example, it's still the same idea.
It's not really selling, but it’s about getting people to say yes to a service or product. So, what am I selling? What are the main benefits of the product?
What are the features included in the product? And most importantly, what problems can your product solve? It’s all about solving a problem.
When people are looking for a product, they aren't just looking for a product; they're looking for a solution to a problem they have. They want to get rid of that problem, and there may be a product on the internet that can help them do that. If you can show them that your product or service is exactly what they need to solve their problem, then they will go for it.
If you can't prove this to them or convince them, they are not going to take action. That’s the first step. The second thing you have to understand is who you are selling to: are they males or females?
Where are these people located? What are their interests? their preference, what are their problems, their needs, their desires, their income, their education level, their relationship status?
Who is your client? Who is your customer? Who are you looking for on the internet, and who's going to be interested in buying that product from you?
It is very important that you have this very clear in your mind. It doesn't matter where you are advertising your product; you can be advertising your product on a demographic-based platform like Facebook, or you can be advertising your product on a search engine like Google AdWords, Bing, or anything similar to that. It doesn't matter because you have to know who's going to be looking for that product and for that solution.
Because then you're going to know the right way to approach them. You're going to learn; you're going to find out what is the best way to approach them. All right, you're going to actually understand why they should buy the product from you.
If you understand who is looking for the product and what problems the product can solve, then you're going to be able to determine some really good reasons why they should buy that product from you or why they should complete that offer, which is actually question number three. So you have to understand those two things so that you can determine what's the difference between your product and the other products out there—the competing products. What will people miss if they just say no to your offer, and why should they act immediately instead of just procrastinating?
Because we lose many sales and many conversions on the internet because people procrastinate. They think that what we have is interesting, but they just decide to think more about it at a further moment, and they end up forgetting about that, or they end up finding a different product or a different offer, and they end up not buying our product or not completing our offer because of procrastination. So if you can create some scarcity, some urgency, and get them to act fast, that's also important.
And for you to be able to do this, you have to understand why they should do it, why they should get your product as soon as possible. Okay, so after you find the answers to these three basic questions, then you have to start elaborating your sales copy or your sales strategy. But when you do this, then you also have to keep some very simple rules in mind, and let's go through those rules, and you're going to understand why they're so important.
Rule number one: you never want to sell a product; you always sell a benefit and, most importantly, always sell a solution to a problem. Okay? If someone has a problem, for example, if you're selling a weight loss product, it's not just a weight loss product.
People have a problem: they are overweight; they want to lose some pounds. That is a problem; they want to get rid of that problem. You have to show them that you can help them solve that problem and not just tell them that you have a product that's about that, because there are many other products out there about that.
But it can be not that easy to solve that problem because, well, if it were really that easy, probably they wouldn't even be overweight anymore. So it's not that easy, and they need to be confident that your product can really be a solution for their problem. Also, convince people that they need your product.
Then, it's not just something that they want or that would be good for them, but that it's necessary for them and that they're going to have big problems if they miss the opportunity, if they don't get it; that there will be consequences if they say no to your offer. Rule number three: give people what they want. Don't try to educate people too much.
Of course, you have to educate people if you're going to teach them something, if you're going to show them how to do something; you are going to be educating them. But don't try to convince them about something that goes 100% against what they have in mind. If they have a goal, if they think that they should do something, and if they are very determined to do that, don't try to convince them that they shouldn't do that.
Just try to help them do that; try to show them what is the best way for them to do that. Okay, let me give an example: if you are interested in doing online marketing and if you want to make money on the internet, I'm not going to try to convince you not to make money on the internet and go and become a monk, for example, and never think about money again. I'm not going to try to do that because you're really determined to make money on the internet.
That would be a major change and probably my chance of succeeding with that plan would be very, very small. It's much better for me just to sell something that's going to help you make money on the internet. Okay, and obviously, this example may sound a little bit silly because obviously it's too exaggerated.
But it's the same thing if we go more specific: if you're really determined to make money with SEO, maybe it's better for me to help you make money with SEO if that's something that I can help with, of course—then to convince you to make money with PPC, for example, because you have already decided; you're determined to work with SEO. SEO is your goal, and you want to focus on that. You know, it's just to give an example that, uh, that's more probably something related to what you're doing now if you're building an online business.
But it actually applies to anything on the internet or even outside the internet. You know, any product that you're going to sell has to meet people's expectations. Another important rule is that you have to sell to people's instincts.
When we are buying something, it's not always a conscious process; actually, most of the time, it's an instinctive process. We have to feel good about a product in order to buy it, and not just, you know, analyze it and determine that it's good. So, uh, make sure that you excite people, and then you, you know, touch their feelings.
You know, make them feel sad, make them feel happy, make them feel excited, and make them feel afraid of losing an opportunity or missing a chance. Uh, if you get to make them feel a lot of things and not just think about a lot of things, you're going to have a much better chance of getting a conversion. Rule number five: gain trust.
Get people to trust you; they have to trust you because, you know, there's a lot of information out there on the internet. Lots of people telling them lots of things; many of those guys are scammers or guys who don't really know their stuff. For them to buy something from you or complete an offer that you are recommending, they have to trust you.
They have to understand that you know what you're talking about. So if you get them to trust you and show them that you're real, then you're going to have a better chance of getting a conversion. Rule number six is actually quite similar to rule number five, uh, but the other rules before that, but, uh, it's a little bit more focused on, you know, exactly.
It's like, you know, if you had a tactic to reach or touch people's weak points in a way that, by doing that, you're going to be able to, uh, you know, make them have strong feelings about your product. For example, if you're promoting a dating offer and the person on the other side is feeling really alone without having someone to share the good moments with, without even having someone to talk about things that they like. If you talk about those things, if you touch those points, they're going to feel that pain while looking at your product, while going through your website, or through your sales copy, or through your landing page.
If they feel that pain, it's going to obviously be very uncomfortable for them. And then you present your product as a solution for that pain that they're feeling. At the moment that they are feeling that pain, well, then they will go for it.
Okay, so these six rules, as I said, they are basic, okay, but they're very important. I see that the vast majority of the internet marketers out there launching campaign after campaign are missing these rules, and eventually, they keep launching campaigns that never really get conversions. So if you keep these rules in mind, I'm sure that your campaigns will start generating better results and start getting more conversions.
And, uh, you know, your business is going to become more profitable. So I hope you enjoyed this video, and make sure to put everything into practice, to use these tips and start making more money with your campaigns. Also, make sure to do your own research and keep learning about copywriting.
You don't have to become obsessed with this or, you know, try to learn everything about copywriting, but do keep evolving and improving this skill because I'm sure that it's going to pay off and that it's going to help you make a ton of money. So thanks a lot for watching, and I hope you put everything to practice and get fantastic results.
