Monsterverse fans, Godzilla fans, we have big updates for both Godzilla X Kong Supernova and Godzilla Minus Zero. What's up, residents of Dangerville, this is Jacob. We're both here for this video.
Ain't that right, Al? Who said that? Who's there?
Hello? Yeah, this is a big enough deal for us to combine forces from across an ocean. Some new early test screenings for Supernova have hinted that the series is going in a direction we think sounds awesome and has us even more excited for the movie.
So, you guys have to hear this. First though, we really want to say thanks to all of you who have donated to our Titans Against Blood Cancer charity. We have a few more days here if you wanted to donate whatever you can, but we really just wanted to say thank you to all of you who have donated or have sent positive thoughts even towards this cause.
It's nice to see everyone come together [music] like this. Before we get into the meat of the Monsterverse update, we now know when the best time to expect a massive info drop for Godzilla Minus0 will be. No, still no word on when a fulllength trailer [music] will be dropping.
So, go ahead and let us know how annoyed you are by the lack of promo material going on right now for both of these movies. Actually, yeah. But don't lose your heads just yet, cuz on October 11th at this year's New York ComicCon from 12:30 to 1:30 p.
m. Eastern American time, Tohjo or Godzilla Minus0 will have a major panel that's set to reveal new material and tease the movie's release, which will be around a month or so after this event. We're not sure what's going to make it online, but at this panel in person, the movie's producer, Kazuki Kashida, visual effects artist Tatsuji Nojima, and sound designer Hisashi Takuchi will be there to talk about Minus Zero and maybe reveal some new visuals and sounds that we can get hyped for.
Sorry if I mispronounced any of their names, too, by the way. Maybe we're going to get a clear look at Godzilla's new design. Maybe we will get teased with a sound clip of a new monster's roar.
Maybe even just concept art or behindthe-scenes stuff. It really could be anything, but who knows really. All we do know is that for one full hour, Godzilla Minus0 is going to be hyped up, and I can't wait to see more, man.
Tell me what y'all think. You think they'd have released a trailer by now? It releases in 3 months.
Come on, Toe. It's been 84 years. Yeah, dude.
Maybe we'll get like the final trailer. That's if they reveal the first trailer in September. Like, rumors has it.
Just got to wait and see, I guess. All right, time for the Monsterverse news. Okay, let's do a little vote right now, everyone.
You guys comment down below on this one. Did you actually truly like the tone of the new empire? No judgment, just be honest here.
What do you think they're all going to say, Alistair? Um, Gonarrhea. Well, I'd imagine most of the comments are going to say something along the lines of that the new empire was just [music] fine, but it left you wanting something else.
Well, if that's how you are thinking, listen up. Early test screenings for Supernova just had another wave of viewers and the new reports are positive. Not like fake news positive, but like chill, calm, and levelheaded takes positive stuff that I feel like you can actually trust.
There's not much fluffing going on here. I don't think it's fake hype. Just people saying that the movie is a drastic improvement over the latest entry and that the tone has taken a change for the better.
We both have probably said like 500 times over the last 5 years how the tone of the Monsterverse has been drifting away from what we thought made it feel special. Now, I think we both understand that the tone of Godzilla 2014 will probably never truly come back, but it should. In fact, we even have a video on the insane hype of that film coming out in just a few days.
So, be sure to subscribe for that. But reports are stating that Supernova will change its tone from a buddy cop superhero style movie in the New Empire to one that's said to be a blend of Godzilla King of the Monsters more serious world ending tone with the more in-your-face focus of the Titans and their stories that we got from Godzilla versus Kong. I think the two of us have always thought that King of the Monsters was the epitome of a classic Godzilla movie made in modern times.
and take out some of the mediocre writing and questionable decision-making in that movie. And it actually kind of has a solid tone for the monster verse at this point in the story. That sound about right to you, Al?
Gonara. A little bit of sci-fi elements blended with the military energy to really give that ultimate kaiju movie aura. And I feel like Godzilla versus Kong was a great movie.
It just needed to feel a little more high stakes and like there were actual consequences to the events happening. and it probably would have done well to keep the lore scenes that were intended to hype up the Scar King instead of cutting all of that out. But ultimately, while it's impossible to get everyone's take on the tone of the last few entries into the Monsterverse, from what we have seen, there is a general plea and fan response urging Legendary to make the Monsterverse not feel generic and forgettable and for its tone to be taken a little bit more serious.
tone down the fantastical elements, make this sci-fi a little bit more plausible and less in your face. And yeah, and you guys aren't going to believe it. It sounds like they actually listened.
That's the word we're getting from these early screenings. We've even heard that the reaction from the test audience was good, like the best yet since the series has turned into a major franchise. So, if this all holds true, it sounds like Supernova may have put together one of those stories that leaves you feeling completely satisfied at the end.
Like your life was just made more complete by watching. And honestly, that's the best kind of feeling a movie fan can have. Listen everyone, we know the Monsterverse is never going to be this super realistic world.
We all know this, but this tone shift really sounds promising for the series and will hopefully help it get more respect than the New Empire did, which while doing well at the box office, was pretty much mocked for being only dumb fun throughout its theatrical release. So, it may not be completely dumb fun, but after hearing about this tonal shift, this new synopsis has a lot more impact value, and I think we can slowly start to picture this movie in our minds now. Ain't that right, Al?
Yes, and might I add, your voice sounds extra handsome today. Yes, we have a brand new synopsis for Godzilla XCON Supernova. And this [music] is real.
And yes, I am aroused. Now, this comes, oddly enough, from a German cinema [music] chain called Kinorama Una. Now, why does a random German cinema chain have this brand new synopsis before anyone else?
Honestly, your guess is as good as mine, but based [music] on what we know about the film, this is accurate and does line up with the leaks. So sit down and let me read it to you. Following the events of Godzilla X Kong the New Empire, the world is shaken once again.
A deep rhythmic [music] signal appears in various regions, seemingly emanating from places long considered legendary. As the first clues emerge, Godzilla and Kong find themselves in a perilous situation. Their powers pull them in different directions, but it soon becomes clear that the signal is not only awakening titans, but also disrupting a larger order.
While Godzilla follows the clues in nature and Kong searches for answers in the ruins, teams of scientists and field researchers attempt to decipher the signal's origins. Now, thankfully, this is more than just Godzilla and Kong will face off against a cataclysmic threat that it feels like we've had on repeat for the past 10 years. This actually provides some new information.
For starters, what [music] are these deep rhythmic signals that are appearing in various locations? Well, I have [music] reasons to believe that these are in fact space Godzilla's crystals that were planted here long ago. Similar to how the tripods in War of the Worlds activated when their pilots entered the machines, these crystals start activating as space Godzilla approaches the planet.
And interestingly enough, we've seen crystals with similar signal-like abilities as recently as the New Empire, where this shard was used to communicate with the Titans. So, it seems like Supernova is bringing [music] this all together in a cohesive way. Worldbuing, am I right?
Isn't that such a crazy concept? In terms of their powers pulling them in different directions, I'm not too sure what they mean outside of the fact Kong and Godzilla specialize in different things. Godzilla is more of a force of nature and attacks first and asks questions later, while Kong, since he's smarter, actively investigates.
So, we could just see them on their own journeys in the film. In fact, the next paragraph kind of confirms it when it says Kong searches for answers in the ruins while Godzilla follows clues in nature. By following clues in nature, I can only presume this is by discovering a string of deceased titans taken out by this new cosmic terror.
While Kong explores ancient Great Ape ruins and possibly finds evidence of Space Godzilla's previous attack within the ancient cave paintings, [music] something Godzilla versus Kong was seemingly trying to do before it was deleted from the film because Legendary, for some reason, doesn't like law. Thankfully, this film seems to be bringing that back to focus and help fill in the gaps of what exactly [music] this cosmic Godzilla really is and his history. I'd also like to point out that the synopsis says the signals are disrupting a larger order and awakening [music] titans.
Remember a while ago when I said this film could have another mass awakening? Well, to me that sounds like it could be a mass awakening. We could see dozens of massive titans rising again to face off against Godzilla and Kong [music] being controlled by space Godzilla.
But that's still just a theory, a film theory. No, enough of that. Either way, the synopsis sounds awesome and I can't wait to learn more about it in 93 years when that trailer drops.
Oh man, we got a busy fall and winter ahead of us, don't we, Al? Yes. Now, leave me alone.
Well, another reason we wanted to both come together on this was that this is actually our birthday week. We are both [screaming] officially old now. Everyone give Al a happy birthday for turning 30.
Dude's practically as old as Godzilla now. Al, say something. Everyone, I hope you enjoyed this.
Like the video and help share it around is all we ask for. Just keep being awesome everyone [music] and we will see y'all in the next one.
