hello doers my name is Jose gasio and I'm your guide to All Things ODU we're going to get to know each other pretty well now in today's lesson we're actually going to go over how to create an ODU database how to install applications and how you can add demo data so enough chitchat let's dive right into it so let's kick things off on odu. com so from here I'm going to create a new database by clicking on this button that we have right there start now it's free and it is free so once that I click this button I'm redirected to a list of applications that I can choose to install in my database I'm going to pick the sales app and the CRM application over here I could also install more apps if I'd like but I could also do that later on if I need them as you can see the banner over here on the right tells me I have a 15-day free trial no credit card required so with all things started it's time for us to continue perfect now we're taken to a different landing page over here now first I need to enter my name into email so let's go with a very obvious choice Jose ignasio last name redacted and my email is Jose stealthy wood. net I also need to add my company name which in this case is stealthy wood and let's just add something 24 right there now this company name will be used to create the URL of the ODU database as you saw I was starting below if you wanted to you can also change it right there with the little pencil icon now it's time for us to choose our country as well and and my company is based in Belgium so let's pick that once we do that we can move forward and then the other thing that I'd like to talk about is that selecting the correct country here is very important because it could affect different things in your database like your chart of accounts for example if you were to install the accounting application now once you have a chart of account set you can't remove it so be sure you have the right country set here now next I need to pick that company size and we're just starting out so I'm going to put less than five employees we actually only have one employee this guy I can also even provide a phone number if I would like to but that's optional I can also State why I am opening this database in the primary interest field in the bottom right corner so I'm going to click this field and say I'm actually a student a student with his own company now once that I click the start now button over here something pretty cool happens ODU starts creating my database which will done pretty quickly depending on how many applications that I added and and once that that's done I'll meet you there so once the database is finished building the first thing I notice is this big activation pending warning at the top of the page this warning tells me that I need to go to the inbox for the email address that I used to register this database and then I need to click that activation link that was sent to me within the first 3 hours o doers that's the only way to set the database into the full 15-day free trial no credit card required mode so be sure to keep that in mind now if you don't activate the database within that time frame everything you do on it will be removed after 3 hours and it can be restored this is especially important if you start to work on the database right away I mean you honestly don't want to lose all of that valuable info do you don't worry about me though doers I'm going to activate this right after the video it should also be noted that some apps automatically download and install with others for example we have an invoicing application right there which was automatically installed whenever the sales app was installed that's because these apps work together to complete different tasks during the sales process there's also a few applications that are installed by default on all Odo databases like discuss calendar apps employees settings and a few others but for right now let's talk about something else and that's that I need to add some of my company information to the database so we're going to jump into the bottom right app which is settings and I want to direct your attention over here to the company section inside of here I'm going to click on update info underneath the word Belgium and it's my company the first thing I need to do is add my company's logo when I hover over here it says your logo we got a little pencil icon which allows us to select our logo and boom it's right there this was quite expensive now I can also add other general information like my company's address which I had copied over here but let's get everything going oers we're just going to pick New York right there and we're just going to skip some other stuff just so that we could go through with all of that and if I wanted to I can also even add my phone number over there if I wanted to it's going to be a very very real legitimate number so bear with me while I type this out now that we're all done I think I also need to add my website which is stealthy wood.
net and let's get that right there I notice all of this was just very quickly able to be done okay now my company's info is all set up and this information will autosave when I click out of the page and I'm just going to show you that because we're going to go back into general settings over here and look at that so I actually need to show you something real quick as well inside of here under the user section up at the top we're going to click on manage users over there now here I can actually invite my team who want to use the company database Now by default I'm automatically listed as a user because I created the database and that makes sense right but I'm going to create a new user for my associate and his name is Oscar so to do that I'm going to click on the new button in the top left and then we're going to name this user so what did I just say his name is Oscar and then a real last name like Oscar ODU and we need an email address this is Oscar example. com very real we can manage odu's actual database rights right here as well and that happens to help us with people like Oscar let's assume that Oscar's database access rights are something different he's going to be using the sales application but they're not a manager and we only want them to access sales orders assigned to them no problem odu's access right allows us to do just that so for that I'm actually going to click on the sales dropdown field right there that we have right there and we're going to select user owned documents only then we can actually open the preferences tab that we have over here and inside of the localization field that we have which is this area right here we can actually change the language and time zone if necessary we can also say how they would like their actual notifications handled by email or maybe inside a bodu so once I create create a new user Odus sends the user an invitation email Oscar can then go ahead and click the invitation Link in the email create a password adjust their user preferences and set a digital signature but before any of that happens I'll first confirm that I'd like to add another user now since ODU is priced per user except on one app free accounts our monthly charge will increase because we added Oscar now specific charges can be explored on the ODU pricing web page or with your account manager now then if we actually hit save here and confirm this and we go back over we actually give that a quick second we go back over to our users we can see Oscar is now a user but they haven't connected just yet and it lets us know so jumping back over to the settings page via the bradc link we can also quickly invite another user which happens to be Steve and we could actually do that just by typing in there also real email right there and then we select invite and invite users now again we'll have to confirm that we'd like to add another user to the database accepting the risk that it could get disabled if I have a yearly plan and I don't adjust my subscription accordingly monthly subscriptions will adjust on their own now let's click back over here to the main dashboard once that we're out of there and this time let's say I want to install another Odo app to boost my company's productivity we don't even have to go to oo. com for that we can do everything right here in the database so to do that I'm just going to select the apps app over here and from here I can also as you notice I can also uninstall applications upgrade or manage all of the apps and modules on my database it should be noted that you must have administrator access rights to do these actions all right so let's install the inventory app now by typing in inventory and we spelled it proper and we just select this little purple install and you'll notice once that we confirm this it only takes a moment to in stall and then I'm redirected back to the main dashboard where we now see the inventory app amongst our other awesome applications and that's just great now I want you to remember that if you're currently on a oneapp free account installing another app can impact your plan this does not apply in cases where there are app dependencies like we talked about before you know with the sales and invoices apps as an example of combined necessary apps so be sure to check out odu.
