hello friends and welcome back to the channel in this video I'm going to be talking about another part of the essay which is the body paragraph and hopefully I will be talking about it while my dogs do not bark neighbor is doing yard work whoo ok so in my previous video I went over how to do the introduction paragraph in this video I'm going to be going over how to do a body paragraph a little bit of a refresher the way that we do the introduction paragraph is you state your thesis alright so in this
case let's pretend that my I'm gonna end up hitting a little bit more power than this one so let's say that my thesis right and remember that we have subject plus opinion plus equals y plus y or how equals thesis all right so let's pretend for the sake of this argument that my subject is Jeffrey Epstein and my opinion is didn't kill himself and my YY and my how is due to suspicious nature of his death and the amount of political information he had all right if you don't know anything about Jeffrey Epstein maybe that's
a good thing but in this case all right I've got a subject I've got an opinion and I've got a one in a half and that is my thesis all right you really want to know about Jeffrey Epstein okay Jeffrey Epstein is a was a guy in finance theoretically who was convicted of of sex offenses with minors all right so and he was accused of trafficking in young women with very very powerful people including some members of the British royal family Bill Clinton and then also Donald Trump anyway last year while he was in prison
because they were going to prosecute him for some more crimes he suddenly he was found dead and theoretically from hanging himself however there was a lot of really really fishy stuff that went on like in the prison they said that he was that they lost them the security tape that the prison guards fudged the numbers or fudged the fudged their rounds and it was a little bit super suspicious almost too suspicious and so it's very it's it's kind of a a running joke on the internet that this despicable person didn't kill himself because instead somebody
had him killed [Music] what were we talking about body paragraphs all right so let's pretend this is my ass this is my essay and now what I'm going to do is build some body paragraphs on it so in this case what I'm going to have to do is create a series of paragraphs that are going to support it and so really the this how and why is going to turn into the bulk of my body paragraphs so let's say that one of my body paragraphs the topic is going to be out suspicious prisoner let's just
say that that's gonna be the top of my paragraph so there are three parts of a typical body paragraph and they are the topic sentence the support into the explanation so these three parts of the body paragraph are key you can't sleep on any of them because if you do then the whole body paragraph falls apart and nobody wants that and it's terrible and I'll make everybody sad so what you're going to do is in the topic sentence you are going to make a claim out the part of the essay that you're talking about right
in this case I'm talking about suspicious private prison activity so I would write a topic sentence that essentially sums up the whole claim of what I'm going to make so I will say for instance one reason to believe s team didn't kill himself is the suspicious activity of the prison and prison workers where he was housed at the time of his death in this case I have now said what this topic is going to be about this paragraph is going to be about these things I've identified what this paragraph is going to do the next
thing I need to do is start on my nose that's online learning for aria I know slowdowns no edits so the next thing I'm going to need to do is provide some proof all right how do I prove that the activity was suspicious okay so what I will do is provide examples now in a research paper you're probably these examples in from something else from somewhere else right now I don't have the emotional energy to go do apps team research and so I'm just gonna make it up for that but so I will say for
example according to according to the prison the prison stuff during the time that Epstein died the surveillance footage of the cameras in the prison were erased and /or missing so I've now given you an example for my topic now it is very important that I don't move on from here because what I've done is I've said all right this is suspicious here's my example but I need to explain why that example is so important all right think of it this way alright think of it like a court case and so let's get a lawyer here's
our lawyer all right we have this cork paste this lawyers fighting all right so now what we have here let's do a let's make a table here all right and if the claim here is bill killed that what we're going to need is some evidence all right and so now we're gonna go find some evidence so let's say and it's a little bit of a cob example bill killed Ted there's the evidence I'm like and lawyer says all right ladies and gentlemen of the jury bill killed Ted and here have your evidence this gun I
rest my case is that enough to convict what do you think swear is that enough to convict you didn't think so we do okay it's not enough to convict what you are going to need to do is you're going to have to explain some things about this gun all right and so you'd have to say okay the gun was purchased it was found the caliber of the gun it had fingerprints all right so you're gonna have to come up with examples to explain how the evidence backs up the claim the same thing goes for your
paragraph so you have your topic sentence then you have your support and then you need to explain the support if you bring in a quote it won't speak for itself if you bring in something seems obvious well you still need to explain explain how your support backs up the claim you have so you're sitting into the chair next to me making noise aren't you buddy okay online learning you get the live you get the left feet here so explanation explain how your sport PACs have to claim that you make so in this case I'll explain
some stuff about Epstein are you done buddy so I will say considering the permit that I've seen I don't keep worrying about spelling his name I mean the guy was a despicable person who you know traffic variant women so he gets a misspelled name alright this is that the S team was one of the most valuable prisoners in the entire United States and he had previously in on suicide watch with a recent suicide attempt the fact that that the the tape went missing / malfunctioned proves to be at least a little bit suspicious all it's
not like s team was any normal prisoner he was a highly valuable prisoner when it comes to the potential information he had on powerful people and other crimes it would be incredibly gross negligence and an incredibly big coincidence for the cameras to malfunction precisely at the time that this otherwise important prisoner was committing suicide therefore there is at least some reason to believe that the malfunction is too suspicious or epstein do you have to so what I've done here is I've said all right in my topic sentence hey one reason Epstein didn't kill himself is
cuz the thing the thing was fishy then iyx provide an example of it being fishy and then I explained why that example of it being fishy was so fishy this overall is the way that a typical body paragraph will work and you like I said you cannot sleep on any part of this because if you if you just start with the support with the example then I don't know what we're doing here you know I'm going back to my it's my other example if you don't have bill killed pet and you just start with the
gun that I'm sitting here thinking what are we looking at why are we looking at it I'm confused so you gotta say up front in the paragraph hey this is what this paragraphs about then you need to bring in your evidence if you don't have a gun then you don't have a case and then finally if you only have the the point in the gut the the point and the evidence you have to explain the evidence you have to go out and explain your reasoning because otherwise it's not going to be sufficient so overall that
is your body paragraph in a nutshell in some parts of a typical body paragraph one topic sentence [Music] explain what what the point of the paragraph is and the point you are going to make about it to provide its support be vent quote outside research to prove the topic sentence and finally explain why your support proves the topic sentence topic sentence support explanation lather rinse repeat there's your body paragraph I'll see you in the next video
