all right welcome to the session where we're talking all about writing awesome live video titles I'm super excited for this one and like I just said this is the first training back since I've been in maternity leave so I'm really excited to do this and like get back in the swing of things I hope yall are excited for this one as well and we're going to dive in so my first question to you guys who are here live is do you struggle to write your own video titles now is it taking you uh you know
a long time like where you at with the writing process right now you can just put that um in the chat I'm curious to hear that um and for those of you who are like what do I mean by title let me just show you exactly what I am talking about when I say title it should be obvious but just in case um this is exactly what I mean when I say the ah the titles so for example this top area right here above your video um is what we're talking about um on Facebook and
if we're on something like YouTube it would be you could have the same exact kind of title I think I picked the same video yeah ah and same thing right here so this is exactly what I'm talking about just so we're all on the same page and real quick let's just talk about like why the heck this even matters cuz a lot of people like don't give any thought to the title itself and spend so much time focusing on the content and then kind of don't get the result that they want so first off this
is you know the last thing on my little priority list here of like why the heck does this actually matter but when I have someone that comes to me and is like you know I'm really struggling to get views and attract people when I look at their their actual video you know I look at the number of views but the the the kpi after that that I look at is analyzing the actual like title like what does it look like because realistically we need to earn the views that we want so to do that to
earn those views to earn and attract those um those people right the title is how we do that it's how we are incentivizing people to show up and and the reality of things is that we have you guys know we have five seconds maybe a little bit longer maybe a little bit less in some cases to attract people and so that title is absolutely crucial like I know people who have loads and loads of leads that are in their ecosystem that are just not stopping the scroll because they just don't have a good title and
the thing is like when I'll listen to their video and their content like a lot of times the content is really good but no one's going to stop so if you're someone who feels feels like really discouraged or you feel like you know people just should be joining in like have that mentality of like you should work for what you deserve you need to earn those views and the first way to do that is through that really really good title so again we want to work for for work for those views make sure we get
people stopping this scroll within five seconds and the other really important piece for this is like Clarity for your viewers so if you're going live and like you are um or even if you're not going live and you're just like you know publishing this video you want to give people Clarity on like what exactly are they going to get if they stay until the end of the video if they take time out of their day and when you understand like how precious people's time is you understand why you need a good uh title so like
if your ideal you know customer and your ideal Watcher is someone who has kids and they have a full-time job and they have pets and they have all this stuff going on like they're not going to sit and watch a 20 minute video unless they know exactly what's in it for them and so if you have a title that doesn't really tell you that and isn't super clear they're not going to stop and sacrifice that time and time is one of those resources that you do not get back right so you can always earn more
money but like if you lose out on however many days like we're not promised more we don't know how much more of it we're going to get too so you know that sounds extreme but like if you think about it from that kind of perspective like you know it just incentivizes you even more like why this is like one of the most crucial Parts in your actual uh video strategy um cool so let me know you guys if this making sense so far you can just give me a yes thumbs up in the chat um
and we're going to keep going um but the biggest mistakes I see with your titles are I have I have four four real real mistakes so the first mistake I see is in your video title we just have these big blocks of text like big paragraphs where there's no spacing there's no Emojis it's just like this big long paragraph that's really really hard to read right that's the first one second one is like not having any title at all so a lot of times um you know on Facebook like it just lets you bypass that
you could have like absolutely nothing and you could just be like a talking head which is one option um the Third is it could be a confusing title where like it doesn't really say what your video is about and it's not that like compelling or intriguing and then the last one is the this kind of a joke the Next Great American novel length title which is like it's not a huge block of text maybe there's multiple sentences there's emojis but it's so long where like you have to like hit the read more and it just
Scrolls so long and then you have the actual video that that pops up so um I'm not a fan of that kind of title either I think you'll see well we're gonna go through the actual uh formula for what I think a really good like live title is that you know attracts people and that you know makes your life easy too you don't have to write these long heavy paragraphs so if it feels heavy for you it probably feels heavy for the person watching as well but it feels light and easy for you like you
know that same energy as you're probably putting out to you're probably giving out Okay cool so in terms of like before we actually start the writing process because I have this threep part video description and in the actual video skills lab course I have like an entire little short video that walks through this we're going to walk through through this briefly again now too um but what I want to really really emphasize is before you start using this template that we're going to to go through before you start writing and trying to come up with
creative things you have to have to have to have Clarity on what your video is actually about which sounds like a like no duh type of thing where it's like of course you need to know what your video is about but more specifically you need to be able to tell me in one sentence what your crazy not to stay promise is and if you're using this highly converting script script that I've got here which is really just like another template that like helps you write out your video stuff um if you look at what it
is it's basically like you're where you are sharing after you hook the audience you're sharing exactly what the audience is going to learn if they say until the end of the video right and I'm I'm this is so so important is crazy not to say promise for so many reasons for you know retention keeping people till the end of the video making sure that people are clear on what this is about um and same thing like for you to be able to write this title you need to have that Clarity because a lot of times
people will sit down and they're trying to think of this title but they don't really have Clarity in what their video is about or their video is owning too much or it's owning too little so having a good title starts with having Clarity around your messaging in your script so a really good C c not to say promise could be um that you want to learn the that the crazy not to say promise could be three secrets to mastering um an excellent camera presence in 2024 right so it's so specific like you don't need any
other other context to understand like what the heck this is about right and so you know okay there's three three things you're going to learn in this video it's going to be exactly about you know presence on camera it's clear so then my title then is going to be based off of something in that crazy not to St promise it could literally be the crazy not to St promise right it could be like you know three secrets to being excellent on camera in 2024 like that could be the title so a lot of times those
things are directly like intertwined so like if you do not have this Clarity in your actual script if you don't have the script written and you try to write the title before you're going to really really struggle okay so hopefully we're good so far let me know if we have any questions um but let's actually go through the formula and then we're going to go through like a bunch of examples for things uh in this template and just some extra examples too um and at the end if you guys have any uh video titles you
need help titling or you want me to look at we can do that also so let's look at this three-part video description formula so I have um three lines in this little template right we have the actual main title or we could call it we put we could also call it a hook right ah hook and then we've got description which is optional and the CTA this could also be something that's optional you don't have to put the CTA up here but ideally you do have some sort of call to action in your video so
this first video title Hook is you know what what why should your viewers stop what can your viewers expect to learn when they are watching this video this could be your crazy not the state promise right here your description is one more line where you're expanding a little bit more on what the videos about are giving a little extra context and then this last call to action is where do you want to lead people off social media so do you want them to go buy something do you want them to sign up for this freebie
do you want to come to them to come to this event and so maybe you're giving the link maybe you're asking them to comment a code word in on the video itself and you're going to send them something or maybe it's that you want them to in you know you put instructions that they should DM you if they want access to something so you just got to be you know clear on where you want to leave people after the video what you're what you're offering so let me know if you have questions on that but
like I said earlier when I was like I don't want you guys to write Big Blocks of tax long paragraphs like look at this video this right here this is actually um when I was opening the the video skills lab um this was one of the promo videos that I did um where I was like doors to the skills I've open in 48 hours join here and I put the little uh the link here like look how simple this is and this sold so many memberships for me very very simple um so stay away from
Big Blocks and like super super long titles too okay let's do a couple examples of this and then we're going to after real quick do some examples that um give you even more clarity on how to write these because depending on who you are writing to if you're writing to like a warm audience or a cold audience that doesn't know you or mix of the two how you write some of these will change a little bit as well so first example using this template is like uh let's say you have you're a sales coach right
so the title is top three ways to overcome your deep dark fear of sales calls even if you feel like you've tried everything I really like this starter because again you're telling people specifically what you're covering these three ways they know they're tuning in for three things right and you're telling them exactly what they're going to learn and I love these brackets because you're calling out as well uh you know what objections they might have right where it could be you know even if you feel like you've tried everything or even if you hate talking
on the phone or even if you are introverted or even if you have already done a million calls and feel like sales aren't for you like whatever objections people have so um you know for you know live video it could be my the objections I could put in brackets for people people or even if you're afraid of tech or even if you have a small audience or you know so on and so forth so this is a great thing to put um as well in your video title then we've got the description again which is
is optional but we've got if you're a coach or course creator that wants to TA take your sales calls to Next Level this is for you so what I like about this is we're calling out specifically who this is for now so it's not just like anyone who's afraid of sales calls it's coaches and course creators that want to take their sales to the Next Level and then the call to action so this call to action we've got by the way for five lucky entrepreneurs I'm giving away a 15minute sales strategy call to personally help
you bust past fears and get results comment sales call on this video if you want a spot right so things things I think I like I love these little emojis I love how specific it is like not super complicated I think and it you know gets across what you uh what you want it to so let me know for good stuff we're going to go through um another example uh after um the second one is a dating coach um so the video title that we've got here or the hook I should say is ready to
spice up your dating life with these three hot ideas question mark exclamation points um so what I like about this again it's it's it's a question like I think you want to try to switch up the titles a little bit so like this one is just like stating the crazy not to State promise this one we're phrasing we still have that crazy not to State promise where we're saying okay we're covering these three hot date ideas but you've got it phrased as a question like an exciting question instead and the description is these three ideas
are taking my client dates from Awkward to awesome so love a from a pain to desire type of uh type of flow and then the call to action want me to help you plan your next date comment wine and dine and I'll get you a spot on my calendar for free next week uh okay last one um this one's like a personal trainer um the hook the Top Line stop if you feel like you don't have enough time to work out every day so in this one you can see we don't have the crazy not
to say promise we're just getting people to stop based off of like you know a specific you know pain point that that they are having that's really specific to the the promise that we're making in this video and then the second line we're including that you know crazy not to stay promised we're saying I'm sharing the 10-minute routine that's allowed my client Alex to lose 10 pounds in two months with 10 minutes a day so I love how love love how specific this is where we're telling people how long the routine is we're telling them
the specific result they got and we're telling them you know how long they actually need to be able to practice this so the more details you can put in things things the better so if I was like if you want to sell your next client uh with live video here's the template you can fill out in just 10 minutes or in just 20 minutes and then go live and record in the next 10 minutes so that you can then reach your audience of X many people do you know I mean it's not you know what
I mean like that's not something I would actually you know it's not like specific to like what I would actually uh not a video I would make um because I'm just putting random numbers but the point is just the example of like I'm I'm getting really really specific with what the takeaways are what the results are what the expectations are for these things based off of like legit things you're not just making it up okay and then the call to action what helps setting up your personalized 10-minute routine comment routine and if you're one of

just pop them in the chat um and we're going to keep going like I said to y'all earlier we want to be really clear on like who we are writing these titles for because there's people that I'm sure you you've seen that like they have really bad titles or nothing special or they put zero thought into their titles and they're getting a lot of engagement on their videos and the reality of that is is that they have done the leg work and built the audience to be able to go and do that meaning they have
an existing audience that knows and loves them and they could literally put out anything and the people would watch it and you know people I think of are and don't hate on me if you if you're not like a if you are you know a Tony Robbins or Dean graos fan um sometimes I look at their events and like the titles of their things and they're so they're not super creative and like they're not very original and like they're just big names like they have so many people that know them and love them and that
they've helped that it's like they could literally put out anything and because their names are attached to it it's fine but if people don't know you and they don't know what you're about like you have to be able to be super clear and creative and specific and you do have to like the reality is you do have to work harder to build that trust with that new audience you got to know who you are writing to right so if you had that existing audience you know you could probably come up with a really mediocre title
and and have people join but if you're trying to connect with that new audience or both where you want to Target both of those audiences then you you do have to put the leg work in so let's talk about like examples based on this considerations based of this and how you would kind of write some of this stuff so for example let's say your topic was you know camera confidence right if I was going to do a video on camera confidence here's how I could write either of them if I'm writing to my warm audience
who knows me I could go live and just say something like here's the biggest lesson my client taught me this week and if you know me if you've come to my workshops and if you've come to challenges and you've been in the video skills up blah blah blah and you like this stuff you'll be like oh yeah this is probably going to be really interesting like I'm I'm interested to hear that I know Alex does video like I know that shows has interesting insights I'll join this because I I've already listened to a lot of
stuff that's not going to anyone new maybe one or two people but probably not anyone new only people who are existing but if I wanted to Target people who are existing I would say something like three lessons for going live with ease from a rockstar client who's attracting hundreds of new viewers each week so now I'm specifically telling people okay you're sticking around for three lessons from one of my best clients who's going to tell you about how she's attracting hundreds of viewers each week so if you want to attract hundreds of viewers each week
here's some of the tips you can pick up from that so now we're incentivizing based off of results and also based off of like okay here's here's what you could actually get from learning here's the lessons you'll learn if you join this video okay let's do another example um let's talk okay let's say you're in the mindful parenting space right to your warm audience you could have a video that's like here's the things that I love about my kids right but like if people don't know you that're like I don't I don't care about you
or your kids right instead a a better title could be the number one tool I use at bedtime to keep calm cool and collected and you know that the you could be talking about this stuff in this video you know you this video could have been about how you love your kids because you had this moment at bedtime and blah blah blah but like again if people don't know you they're not joining in for that okay last topic is um let's say yoga for chronic pain so you could say do this less for lower back
pain which isn't a bad title at all especially if people don't know you it's not bad it's just not specific enough because you could say this could be anything it could be a postural video it could be a video about supplements it could be a video about strength training like it's just it's just too broad right versus you saying give me five minutes and I'm going to teach you this gentle yoga stretch to help you reduce your lower back pain so now you're specifically saying here's how long it's going to take here's the type of
yoga and here's the result you're going to get so if you want to attract new people you got to you got to be this specific and enticing and again it goes back to the mentality of like earning people's uh you're earning views versus just sort of like hoping your content does the leg work and hoping that that's enough which usually it is not okay cool so hopefully this is kind of coming together for you guys hopefully you're you're uh getting some clarity around this process and I hope it feels like light and easy for you
um but do you guys have questions because this is most of what we're you know what we're talking about today and then you know for this last part do you guys have questions or titles you want to uh titles you want to walk through or or ideas you need for titles like if you're here live like feel free to just speak up you can come off mute or uh Post in the chat um okay and I see Christina saying how much do we have to think about keywords packing the titles that's a really really good
question it depends on what platform you are using so if you are on something like YouTube U and I see you're saying like in order to be found certain keywords on YouTube exactly yes so like like if you are on YouTube you want to make sure that your title specifically um you know the the actual title itself has all of the key words and then in the description box you know you can put you know the rest of the stuff that we've talked about today um but for YouTube kind of keyword research like that's a
whole like kind of other strategy but what I would make sure that you're doing is before you know let's say have I don't know what what field you're you're in but you know let's say you're in video marketing before you go and create a video on that topic I would search on what is already existing and Performing and just making sure you are taking some of those keywords and and formulating a title that you know has videos around that that's already performing well but if you're on something like Facebook like Facebook isn't a platform that
you need to be like optimizing for the most part for for like video do you know what I mean so like this just it's just like a different platform so you just have to be aware of that so really really good question let me know if I answer that for you um Jennifer saying what are the two links you provided above so the two links that we talked about I'm not exactly sure what you mean are you talking about these here [Music] Jennifer okay uh these are just examples like um I just gave examples of
like what a title actually looks like on Facebook and YouTube which I think you already know what they actually look like um yeah okay and I see Christina saying yes answer your question good good good good um awesome and you you guys know I always go live on Mondays so if you ever have um you can always post your questions or your titles for review like I can always take a look at them for you if you're you know struggling to ever struggling to write uh write any of them but hopefully the actual template gives
you some idea of what it what it looks like but like I said this is the very first thing outside of how many views people are getting besides for revews this is the next thing we look at like immediately and I have had clients who again who have an audience that are just getting no reach getting nothing because their titles are so bad and as soon as we tweak we have had I like I've had experiences where we have reposted the same exact content no audience growth but because we are tweaking the titles and like
actually like writing them so that people are attracted to them they are then going and watching the videos and are going and taking advantage of content that you know wasn't being leverag previously just because it wasn't being sold well and so that this could be a big thing like a lot of times I think people when they're looking at their video strategy think they need to do these massive changes like they think they need to you know create a new call to action like a new PDF or they need to create a new sales page
or they need to they're just not very good at speaking on camera and there's all this stuff and in the reality is a lot of times literally this one tweak can just sort of like unblock everything and actually get people to those videos where then we can then kind of see what the next step is because if people are then coming to those videos we can then say all right now that the title's optimized people are attracted to that title people want that thing then we can kind of see uh you know from there where's
the next king you know so like after that is it that maybe there are no Kings maybe your your stuff just starts selling well but if like people are coming to that title then they are they engaging and are they commenting are they taking advantage of the call action Etc and we sort of go systematically through it and solve these little kinks but I'm telling you guys focus on this first and then figure out like kind of start problem solving from there uh I see Christina saying I see this problem a lot with bad titles
on YouTube as a watcher I think a ton of people are missing out on being found because their titles are bad I can't find content I want to see because of their titles yeah for sure I totally agree and like I like there's people that I know too that are really really really good at what they do and there's times where I'll see their stuff and I'm like yo I I know how good you are and this if I was new I would never watch this like I would never stop and watch your stuff if
I didn't know how good you are um Jennifer saying what's a good amount of time for weekly live videos are you asking like what's a good amount of time to go live like how long should you be going live for every week I think it depends so you're saying yeah um depends on your topic I don't think you need to be like I have to go live for one hour I have to go live for 30 minutes like I think you should be looking at that I know Jennifer you're really good with script writing like
you're you're great at like writing those crazy not to say promises right so if you know that you want to teach them three specific things if you can do that really really well in 20 minutes and make a really big impact in 20 minutes amazing do it in 20 minutes why drag it out for 30 minutes or or an hour that's that's one way to look at it the other thing is like who are you trying to kind of Target to like if someone is newer to your videos typically shorter videos tend to do a
little bit better like there's still long form content like 20 minutes is still you know long form content but I think if you were going to publish something 20 minutes versus an hour someone who's new new is more likely to sit and watch something that's 20 minutes and then you know watch you know even even longer content but I think too even just now with how busy people are like if you can optimize it make it a little bit shorter not too short but you know however you can teach it in the most efficient amount

all of you who showed up live it was fun this is the like I said this is the the uh first call back since maternity leave I've done I've been working with my onet to one clients obviously but this is the first little training back so it's exciting um okay I'm going to show Natalie saying where's the replay posted I'll show you guys right now um and Angel is saying are you ever worried about someone else having the same title this is another good question are you ever else having some else so you're saying you're
are you worried that someone's going to think that you are copying them or are you worried okay so you're worried that someone's going to think you're copying so number one um this is this is actually a strategy that like in is okay in certain cases so for example I don't think she runs this course anymore but Sunny Leonard doy you know who who does like YouTube training she does she does like course creator stuff now but for a while her YouTube for bosses course was like huge huge huge I don't think she sells it anymore
but when I was first learning video this was like back in like 2019 uh I took the course and one of the strategies that she teaches in the course is to do research and use keywords so let's say you're in video marketing you're going to search live video and you're going to write down all of the titles that are the best performing right so maybe one of them are the top three secrets to excelling on camera right maybe that's a hot video what you can do is use that exact title and like no one owns
that topic right like that's not like a trademarked title like you can use that title what you cannot do is take their content and regurgitate it right so you would put your own spin you you have your own unique perspective your own unique point of view your own unique experiences you're going to add a commentary on that topic that's unique to you only right if you were to basically take their stuff and be like have the same points the same things like yeah that's not cool at all but the actual topic itself no one owns
a specific topic does that make sense so she was saying hey like go and take those titles but you know make sure you're putting your own thing if and if we think about like even just like the world of content like content is a conversation right the way that we're like creating should be based off of like what other people are listening and watching so like if everyone is talking about these top three your favorite three tips like this is your opportunity to say okay here are my top three tips and put your own unique
kind of spin so it's actually a really good strategy to have similar topics but just make sure your your view is really unique and stands out um okay another really really good question okay keep keep posting your questions if you guys have them and I'm just pulling up the um the video skills lab so I can show you guys where real quick where the replay stuff is so you can see and okay so if you go into coach in the in the actual lab if you go on to coaching calls and replays 2024 Zoom replays
