Four Points amount four points for the back two points for a taked down two points for a sweep or submission video about Australia was awesome there oh cheers bro we do want about jiujitsu today what do I like um I love the variety I love that you're always a beginner always a beginner very interesting so I wear knee pads because training a lot makes my knees a bit sore it is a little bit it's a little bit of a move there'll be some Jiu-Jitsu guys on there again it's bit of a bro so you got
Ryan in the red Brouse top he's the s say he's the black belt he once knocked out five BLS just for looking at him how long do you got your Fight 2 and half oh you're OD oh I do MMA oh when we're rolling he's like oh I'm 2 and 0 no one asked me no one asked you so the ascending belts you got black belt then brown belt then purple belt then blue belt and then white belts so when you start off you're a white belt if you train pretty full on every two years
you'll get a promotion sometimes longer 10 years to get to Black Bel I started 2017 so 2017 2018 2019 six years St is a police officer keep an eye on him today he's keeping New South Wales safe he's trying too there'll be no crime happening today on the mats so there are plenty of ways to get your opponent to submit some of which you should have seen before you have arm bars where you hyperextend the arm got wrist locks so if you start Jiu-Jitsu on your bum it's called guard playing so you play a guard
you play a seated guard this is completely acceptable so then your opponent has to par your guard cuz he wants to pin you or Mount you or take your back so you have like a defensive position here the alternative to that is passing so you're either playing guard or passing whoever's on top will be passing whoever's on bottom will be the guard and you can't obviously swap around but same in UFC put someone on the floor someone's attacking someone's defending it's the same principle see what is it where's this at is that where's ball yeah
I do love Lim biscuit i' love I would love to see Lim biscuit play but the one thing I could handle was the other people in the crowd yeah we have chokes from behind see that brace I did that if anyone doesn't want to be on camera we're making a little YouTube video today say now we'll forever hold your peace I'm I'm just going to just to show people it's a friendly fun environment look at these guys all happy all smiling we're warming up obviously oh the J B that would be two points but now
he could triangle me it's getting warm what' you say and to be right he's the owner why did you open a jiujitsu gym um I love jitu I've done martial arts for a long time so I started with boxing uh like almost 20 years ago something I'm really passionate about and I want to share that with other people what do you love about um it's a it's active problem solving I like it cuz it's really physical and it's very uh mental there's a lot of problem solving involved with it it keeps you uh mentally engaged
the whole time you can't be anywhere else when you're doing Jitsu so you have to be mentally focused on what you're doing you have to be present and I enjoy that side of it it's a really cool martial art because I think anybody can do it it doesn't rely on strength it doesn't rely on speed it doesn't rely on physical attributes anybody can use their own unique physical attributes to their advantage so whether you're tall small uh older or younger you can develop a game that works for you and you can be really effective in
this art so I think that's a really cool thing about GSC so I think environment when you look at it from the outside it can be really intimidating I think it looks a bit scary it's very physical a lot of the the positions you get into a quite close contact I think from the outside that can look like it's something you don't really want to do or positions that you wouldn't really want to get into but when you're actually doing it it's lots of fun and you learn the benefit of uh being developing the ability
to be com uh comfortable in uncomfortable positions which I think is a really valuable skill and and I think you know over time you think less about that and you think about like I was saying before the the active problem solving and trying to solve this problem that's in front of you and use your skills in the best way that you can so it can be intimidating from the outside but it's lots of fun once you give it a go do you ever watch much UFC you ever wondered how a heel hook works so let's
say I can trap my partner's leg in between my legs and then strike the heel now from here you can imagine the pressure that would be on this ligament if when the knee's bent you turn the heel see that so if you hip into that at the same time you can already see that that tightness is coming from that position so this is an inside Hill hook boom if you don't tap knee well just big MMA fan I tried a couple of martial arts before like Muay Tha and like boxing and stuff and then when
I came to tr you did to the atmosphere was just way better I liked learning the movements a whole lot more and once like after a couple of sessions it's like learning how to walk again there a whole different range of movements that you not used to and I'm so like unfamiliar with so that was all really cool learning how to do all that the Community once you become like pretty competent it's like a lot more fun too like it's like a game of chess or something um keeps you fit it's a good fun in
the most gentlemanly way youve got to get your opponent to submit get them to tap or you build points on them Mount as four points back is four points take down is two points hold each position for 3 seconds car he good yeah at this incredible size discre yeah started cuz I needed something to do that wasn't going to the gym for 3 hours sessions I wanted something where I could come in come out do a session be buggered go home and be satisfied with the workout definitely got that um coming from a a rugby
and a powerlifting background I was always looking for the similar sort of competition or something to scratch the itch competition like juice is that every day you go in every day there's a new problem it's uh cerebral it's creative and the people a chain where they're just all so varied and different like doctors lawyers bikes police officers it's such a um interesting group of people it's a it's a problem you can't solve as good as you think you're getting there's always someone who's better get knee bars pull the [Music] hamstring [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music]
[Applause] so that's jitu I don't really like it when people call it self-defense it's not like you either have the ability to be competitive through striking or wrestling or whatever or you don't don't do something to avoid a bad thing happening instead if you think you could enjoy this as a form of exercise the self-defense part of it just comes as a bonus I wouldn't say to anyone to get into this they could defend themselves i' would say get into this it's really rewarded and enjoyable so from today hopefully you would have seen like obviously
