hey guys welcome back so now we got to get into this what if dark Venom one shot cause it is wild and has a bit of a disclaimer there's gonna be a lot of slow singing and flower bringing so you've been warned so let's get into it but if you're new to the channel be sure to subscribe to catch some spills every week and don't forget to hit that Bell up top to get all notifications so we can squat up in the comments for the first hour all right so for this one we start off
by jumping through a series of events that lead up to the moment where this Story begins because after the original Secret Wars event when the heroes returned to Earth Spider-Man came back with what he believed was just a new high-tech suit but in The Amazing Spider-Man issue 258 the Symbiote took Peter's body while he was sleeping and during this time in his dream he experienced the Symbiote fighting over him with his original suit in what he would call a grade A Nightmare which led Peter to take the suit down to the Baxter building so that
he could take Reed Richards up on his offer of analyzing his new air quotes costume and with what began as read doing a number of tests with them trying to figure out where the web fluid comes from how this thing blows on and off Spider-Man's body or how it's able to change his appearance to whatever outfit Spider-Man could think of but this friendly visit began to get a bit hostile when Reid told Spider-Man that his suit was actually a highly evolved living symbiote and it got real when Spider-Man gave the mental command for the suit
to come off and it didn't want to where instead it only grabbed onto him tighter so instead of having Johnny burn it and possibly Spider-Man in the process Reed then went for a Sonic Blaster and used it to separate the Symbiote from Spider-Man to where then Johnny surrounded it with fire and re-trapped it in his special container which on one hand is part of the foundation for this story and I bring this up because I also want you to keep in mind that while the Symbiote was here it began to assess its situation it began
to hate and hunger for Revenge but also with the Symbiote here contained at the Baxter building we're also given a situation where this overlaps with Fantastic Four issue 296 and for the most part it's here where this what if issue takes its Liberties leading us into a very dark turn of events because originally in Fantastic Four issue 296 Ben Grimm Revisited the crash site where him Reed Sue and Johnny return to Earth after being blasted by cosmic rays which remember for Ben he saw this as life getting better for everyone else on that ship except
for him so after revisiting the crash site he took himself back to Monster Island and he sent a message to the others to not come looking for him but going into this story we find out that Ben had instead made his way to the Baxter building with this day being the anniversary of the crash he made his way here to give Reed a piece of his mind but while Ben was looking for Reed he noticed something unusual moving around in one of Reed's special containers so he takes a peek and he says to himself like
is that thing alive because again Ben missed out on the whole Fiasco that went down when Spider-Man came to the Baxter building and discovered that he was wearing a Whole Living symbiote and would read hearing Ben he steps into the room he catches a bend on what happened with Spider-Man and he goes on to tell him that this symbiote fits the criteria purely based on the known definition of life and for a moment Reed starts to go on about how he's keeping it here for further studies and evaluation but Ben just cuts him off and
he tells him reap you forgot our anniversary because today Ben wanted Reed to be there at the crash site along with everyone else but to ban it would seem like that's the last thing on Reed's mind so Reed lets him know that he didn't forget he was just giving Ben some space because he understands that Ben feels differently about the incident from everyone else so he wanted to give Ben the room to process things on his own but for Ben he's not buying that so he tells Reed like just be honest you were feeling guilty
for what you did for turning me into a monster then he goes on to say maybe you should put me in a glass jar too Mr Fantastic and you know what every once in a while or maybe I do this every time I get the chance I don't know but to me I just see this as an opportunity to just point out how much of a jerk Reed Richards can be because after the incident after Reed had witnessed the consequence of his miscalculation which he admitted he didn't think that the cosmic rays were as strong
as they were but with him seeing what they did to his fiance and his friends especially Ben in that moment when they came back and they came together and decided what their names would be with Johnny saying he's the Human Torch Sue saying she's the invisible girl and Ben calling himself the thing because that's what Sue said just off a reaction and Reed Richards had the audacity to go with the name Mr Fantastic like how full of yourself do you have to be for that to roll off the tongue without hesitation and honestly I'm surprised
that Ben didn't just smack Reed on site for naming himself that while Ben's wound was fresh but either way I don't want to dwell on it too much because now I'm getting worked up but Reed takes a moment to tell Ben he's doing everything he can to find a cure for him but while he's saying this Sue calls for him telling Reed that he's got to get back to the reporter who Reid told that he'd just be gone for a minute and you can kind of see how this looks because it just appears like helping
Ben isn't really a priority for Reed if he has the extra time for reporters so on and so forth and his reed goes he tells Ben that they'll continue later and Reed invites him to come back for dinner so Ben just kind of brushes it off like yeah sure I'll check my schedule but now with Ben here alone with the Symbiote he starts to open up and vent to it a little bit saying how Reed will never understand the strange looks the gasps people whispering about you but while Ben's saying these things the Symbiote bumps
the glass and Ben makes the assumption that the Symbiotes trying to tell him that it can help so against Ben's better judgment he lets the Symbiote out and right away it jumps out of the container and bonds with him where on one hand it's like the Symbiote sees him as a weak man with a strong body to where they were also told perfect host a host more suited for the symbiote's proclivities than the web Slinger a host so broken by his desire to be human that he would bargain with the remnants of his Humanity strong
body weak man and with seeing that it's like man that's how you feel but with all the loud noise and commotion Reed comes back to see what's going on only for him to find the symbiote thing which is kind of what I'm just going with for the moment because you know you guys send me a Spider-Man now we got send me a thing so at first Reed is just saying what did you do and he goes on to tell Ben that he doesn't understand that being infected Spider-Man it may have enhanced some of his abilities
but it also enhanced his emotional responses it latched on to his Consciousness but Ben just lets Reed know that he understands it called to him it wants to help him it promised to help and while Ben is saying this the Symbiote changes him back to his human form and it's not just a symbiote covering him and making him look like he did when he was human but rather it's reverted his physical appearance on a molecular level so of course for Ben this is like a dream come true but for Reed he's just like I know
how bad you want this Ben but this isn't the way that thing is too dangerous so Reed once again does the sneaky stretcho reach for the Sonic Cannon and he tries to shoot the Symbiote off a Ben just like he did with Spider-Man only for Ben to quickly Dodge the Sonic Blast and Reed tells Ben that he promises that they'll find another way but as far as Ben's concerned he already found it and he thinks that Reed just wants to stop him because of his ego because he wasn't the one who figured it out which
couldn't be further from the truth because Reed is genuinely concerned and he tells Ben like it's ridiculous listen to what you're saying and then faster than Reed can react Ben snatches the Sonic Blaster and he crushes it in the palm of his hand while telling Reed that this is the most that he's felt like himself since the accident as he then walks out the door saying do me one last favor and stay out of my way which man is pretty cold but then after Ben leaves Down Below in the sewers Dr Kirk Connors picks up
a familiar scent and In This Moment he realizes that the Symbiote is free so he makes his way to go and find it but back at the Baxter building we find that Reed's trying to figure out a way to separate the Symbiote from Ben without it causing his molecules to destabilize and Sue tells Reed that the separation needs to be done first and he can figure out the rest later because they still don't know the long-term effects that the Symbiote will have on Ben if it's bonded with him for too long and right now Reed
is just conflicted because he doesn't want to take this away from Ben because this is the closest that Ben's been to looking human since the incident but Sue reminds me that it's their responsibility to deal with this even if Ben doesn't like the outcome and Reed has a moment here where he understands that is really on him it's his responsibility and the way he sees it if he has to be the monster to save Ben's Humanity then Reed's gonna do whatever it takes and then after this we then go back over to Ben who's enjoying
looking like a human and looking at other humans because for Ben not only has it been a while since he he's had a woman look back at it but also at this time he's having a bit of that symbiote confidence kicking in too so he's out here talking to the ladies they looking at him like a snack and Ben's looking like he ready to open the bag or at the least he looks like he thought about it but while Ben's walking down the street checking out his reflection and all that suddenly the Symbiote starts to
bug out and warn him that something's wrong up ahead and as he suits up we find out that Ben could use the Symbiote to quickly destabilize his molecules and revert back into the thing and when he does he has this red and black thing going on very reminiscent of no though in Ben's case is not exactly the dragon with the tail going on here but with him going into symbiote thing mode version 2 he sees a drainage cover blast open in the alley and the lizard jumping right out of it but when Dr Connor shows
up here he tells Ben that he's here to talk not fight but unfortunately with this being the lizard clobbering time is on site and as the lizard is just getting dragged throughout this alley he goes on a tailband that he knows how he feels dehumanized monstrous unloved and he goes on to tell Ben that the Fantastic Four lied to him so Ben just slams Dr Connors into the wall while telling him that he doesn't know what he's talking about and Connor's just goes on to say that the Fantastic Four lied to him when they told
Ben that he's one of them and that they only said that because they were afraid and the lizard goes on to paint this picture of how him and Ben Graham are so much alike because the world would only see them as monsters regardless of how much good they do and at first Ben's not buying it but Dr Connors goes on to tell Ben now that he's found a way to make himself normal conors can help him share this cure with the world because the lizard knew that there was something special about Spider-Man's suit back on
Battle world but at the time he just didn't know how special it was so he tells Ben to let him help so that Ben can share his cure because that's what a hero would do and it's just after this where we find that Ben agreed to let Dr Connors help but as they get ready to start the process Ben he's a bit nervous he's having some doubts and he has Dr Connors if he's tested this thing to know that it works because Reed said that any good experiment needs to be tested but Dr Connors just
tells Ben that listening to read is what turned him into a monster in the first place and he goes on to promise Ben that this procedure will work but when the lizard pushes the button to begin the process Ben Grimm is stripped of the Symbiote and it's transferred from him to a separate container so right away Ben is pissed and he tells Connors that he lied mcconnors tells him no I didn't lie I told you I was going to help you share your gift share your cure and the lizard just takes off with the Symbiote
while telling Ben that he's going after Reed Richards while Ben's molecules slowly begin to destabilize and back over at the Baxter building we find Reed working on a solution for Ben when Sue comes to tell him that he doesn't have to do this on his own and she even goes as far as to suggest that they call Johnny and She-Hulk to come back from their mission which isn't as important as what's going on with Ben and before I forget this was also another thing that was happening around this time because this was when She-Hulk was
a member of the Fantastic Four which really was more of a situation of her filling in for Ben while he was gone so in this what if story they pretty much keep that part consistent with the history of the Fantastic Four but while Sue and Reed are going back and forth on whether or not he should be handling this alone the alarm in the Baxter building starts going off indicating that the building's been breached but before Sue and Reed can go check out what it is their visitor makes its way to them kicking in the
door and it's here where we find that that visitor is none other than Dr Connors who is now symbiote lizard and it is a terrifying combination which pursue and read that's for a number of reasons because now with seeing the lizard here wearing the Symbiote and Ben nowhere in sight their first assumption is that the lizard had already killed Ben and for Dr Connors with him attacking the Baxter building he's ready to give Reed a lesson on the full potential of this symbiote with a very brutal style of delivery let me tell you because the
lizard breaks the ground sending them to the floor beneath then he jumps down banging reads head into the ground in all this time Ben is trying to force himself to become the thing again so that he can break out and go after the lizard but back over at the Baxter building man when Sue gets up she goes after symbiote lizard and really this is a matchup where I'm thinking that Sue's about to take this one but symbiote lizard just goes for the kill so quickly that it takes her down before she's even able to really
put up a fight and then from here Dr Connors goes back to Reed and he tells him how he thinks that Reed thought he was so smart on Battle world and how he thinks that Reed looked at him like Connor's was nothing more than just some creature so in an act of desperation Reed stretches his arm around Conor's throat only for Connors to tell Reed that he doesn't seem so smart and then he bites Reed's hand off he just bites it off and he tells Reed that he is going to enjoy this but then from
the other side of the room Ben steps in and he tells Dr Connors to put Reed down and face him instead but Connor's just tells Ben that he's too late as he stretches Reed's neck out and takes a big nasty bite killing Reed right in front of Ben which now for Ben this just has so many things rushing through his mind cause he just drops to his knees and he starts begging Reed like don't be gone I need you please and you can tell that there's a lot of regret there because not only were the
two of them on bad terms but also Ben blames himself for even letting the Symbiote out and not listening to Reed when he told him that it was dangerous and for a moment while Ben's here grieving symbiote lizard starts to tell him how he did what was best and how Reed wanted to keep the Symbian for himself and how we are better without him and right there Ben just goes off and he launches at Dr Connors sending the both of them out of the window of the Baxter building cause at this point Ben don't care
about anything and as he's punching Dr Connors the whole way down we're given this description like this has been actually becoming a monster but as they're falling to the ground the Symbiote then makes its way from Dr Connors to Ben and it bonds with him just before they make impact and just after they do Ben grabs Dr Connor's head and it's here where now Dr Connors in an act of desperation asks Ben what would Reid Richard say and Ben just tells him that he don't know because Reed ain't here and after that Ben just pops
