Have you ever published a blog post that you spent hours on only to find that it's generating zero traffic? Extremely annoying and I feel your pain. I have been there.
But after more than 10 years working in the SEO industry, I've learned the hard way that writing a good blog post is only 20% of the job. In this video, I'm going to give you 14 different strategies you can do after you publish your blog post, like a sneaky HTML trick to a very cheeky way to get a backlink from Fiverr that will get your blog that well-deserved traffic, turning those readers into potential customers. Let's get stuck into strategy number one, and that is submitting your blog post into Google Search Console.
This will significantly increase your chances of getting your blog post found a lot faster and indexed by Google. This is a little bit like knocking on Google's door and saying, "Hey, I've published a very good new article. Can you please read it and put it in your database?
" If you don't do this, then Google will crawl your website and find that new blog post whenever it wants to. A lot of the times, this can take days, weeks, sometimes even months for this to happen. And to index that new blog post is very easy.
All you need to do is grab the URL of your blog post. You need to go to your Google Search Console account. And right at the top where it says inspect any URL.
We want to place in that brand new URL of your very highquality blog post. You see mine is already indexed. Yours says won't be indexed.
That is okay. All you need to do is click this button, request indexing. This is going to take a second or two and well done.
You've submitted your blog post to Google Search Console. But Google is not the only search engine out there. And in fact, if you want to increase your chances to come up in the search GPT search results, we need to go to step number two and that is submitting that blog post into Bing web master tools.
This is their version of Google search console. And to submit your blog post here is very very similar. There's just one minor change.
Once you have created your account here, you need to go to the URL inspection and again place in the blog post in this little area here. Click inspect. Bing is going to have a look at this and you can again click request indexing much like Google search console.
Well done. Now you've told the largest two search engines that you have a new blog. But how do we get these two search engines to understand exactly what is in your blog post.
Well, that is now step number three which is adding structured data or schema to your blog post. Structured data or schema markup is a little bit like the search engine secret handshake. that little few extra lines of code that will help the search engines understand exactly what your blog post is about.
Whether that's a how-to blog post or a recipe or even if there's an FAQ section at the bottom. By having this schema markup, it will increase your chances also to get that rich snippet in the FAQ rich snippet. It looks like this.
And if you can get in here, you're going to get a lot of traffic to your blog post. To do this is fairly simple. We're going to use GPT.
We're going to grab the URL of the new blog post. We're going to give it to GPT40. Make sure you have search enabled.
Give it the blog post URL and say, "Read the blog post. Please understand it. " And give me a five question FAQ I can add at the bottom.
Once we do that, GBT will understand the blog post and come up with relevant questions that users might be asking about the topics of your post. Once we have these questions, there is one more step we need to do. Now that we have our five question FAQ, we can add at the bottom of our blog post, we just need to ask chatgbt, can you please create the structured data or the markup schema of this FAQ that I can add to my blog.
You are now going to get a little bit of a code, a JSON file code. All you need to do is copy this once it's ready and add it to the header of that blog post. is going to allow Google or any search engine to understand exactly what is in your post like an FAQ getting you higher in those search engine results.
Well done. Now you're getting seen by the search engines and they understand what is in your blog post. But to quote a mastermind at SEO Neil Patel, SEO is changing from search engine optimization to search everything optimization.
Meaning we want to try and be everywhere and why not repurpose the contents of the blog post to be on more platforms. And this is where we move to strategy number four, and that's repurposing this blog post into Instagram carousels. This is extremely easy.
All you need to do is grab this prompt, which will be in the video description below. Go to a new chat in chat GPT. Paste the prompt in there, and at the end, before you hit enter, you're going to give it the URL of your blog post.
Again, you want to ensure that you've got the search feature enabled, and you want to hit enter. What this is doing is getting GPT to come up with the carousel for Instagram, but it's giving you the descriptions first because we want don't want it to create the images right away. We want to make sure that we are happy with these ideas first.
Once GPT has written all the descriptions and the slide ideas for our Instagram carousel, all we need to ask it to do is to create image number one. Go ahead and create image number one, please. If you're happy with the first image, you can change the styling if you want.
You can go and create the second image, but make sure you tell it to create it in the same style. I have one, two, three images that I can now add into my Instagram carousel. Now, in the actual Instagram post, remember to place a nice call to action like if you want to learn more about this, go to our link in our bio and that is where you want to link to your blog post if you want to drive traffic specifically to that blog.
And whilst getting on Instagram with our blog post is fantastic, one of the better platforms for this is Pinterest. And there lies our strategy number five. People don't realize that Pinterest is one of the largest search engines out there.
So we want to optimize for this. Getting traffic from Pinterest with your blog post is very, very easy. We can use the same chat that we were just on and ask Chat GPT to create it into a Pinterest post.
Let's do that right away. Great. Now, can you please create this into a Pinterest post?
Maybe just grab the first image and repurpose it for Pinterest. One thing you want to ensure is tell GPT that you want the image in portrait, not landscape. This tends to look a little bit better for Pinterest.
And if you don't like how Chat GBT does it, remember you can always use something like Canva. To do this, I have my Pinterest post generated by Chat GPT, which looks fantastic and also in the same style as the Instagram carousel. I'm going to download this.
Go back to Pinterest. You want to create a pin. We're going to drag the image that we've got from our chat GPG into here.
We want to add an appropriate title, dominate local SEO. And in the description link, you've guessed it, we want to make sure that we have our blog link, this one here. Go to Pinterest and we're going to publish immediately.
Now, if I go to see my pin, I've got my pin created from Chatg GPT. And if I click on visit website, it's going to go to my blog post. Not only am I driving traffic to it, but I've also generated another backlink from Pinterest to my post.
And to maintain the theme of social media, we also want to recreate this into LinkedIn. Now comes the strategy number six. Obviously, repurpose this into a LinkedIn post.
I recommend here the strategy to be a little bit different. What you want to try and do is repurpose the entire blog post into one LinkedIn post. Meaning add all the value from the blog post into the LinkedIn post except leave one thing out.
That is the one thing we're going to use to incentivize people to go onto our blog post to read more. And again, we're going to grab chat GPT. We can do it in the same conversation that it has understood before.
And we're going to ask it to repurpose this whole blog post into a LinkedIn post. Add all the value that is in the blog post into the LinkedIn post except for one. And we'll use that as an incentivizer for people to go into the blog post.
One additional thing that you also want to do that I nearly forgot is to make sure you maintain the same tone of voice that you found in the blog post. This will keep things nice and concise. Now, you can change the post if you want to, but let's say I'm happy with that.
I'll copy the entire thing here. Make sure we add the link somewhere. And you can use the same image that you use from Pinterest, or you can just use the image that is automatically dragged in from your feature image of your blog post.
For me, that's more than okay. So, I'm going to post that. Now, use my blog post for a bunch of different things.
Now, I need to make it clear that all these platforms don't necessarily like it when you incentivize people to leave their platform. So, don't do this all the time, but for certain blog posts, this is an incredible strategy and arguably more important than repurposing this on all social media accounts, particularly for local business, you want to repurpose your blog post for a Google My Business post. Now comes strategy number seven.
And if you have a Google My Business, this is something that you should do ideally on a weekly basis, if not daily. And you can add a post. You can add an update here.
If you go into your Google My Business listing, you click add an update. The trick here is to repurpose the blog post in under 1,500 characters. So, all we need to do is on the same conversation that we've been having with Chat GBT, ask it to do just that.
Now, repurpose the blog post for a Google My Business post. Ensure that you keep the character length below 1,500 characters. Now, you want to copy the post for Google My Business.
Go to your Google My Business account. Add it in the description. Make sure it looks okay.
We want to select an image or a video. Ideally, you want to use, if you want, the same image that is in the blog post. I'm just going to click and drag that one there.
And in the add button, this is the most important thing. You can go to learn more. And again, you've guessed it.
Make sure that you place in the URL of that blog and now you click post. This is something that you want to treat like a social media profile. The more you keep your Google My Business update, the better it is for your local SEO and for that blog post that is getting that traffic.
And although that strategy is extremely effective, particularly for your local SEO, you can automate this whole thing. And these is one of the automations that we teach in our online community, AI ranking. If you're interested in learning how to automate all this stuff, make sure you check out the link below.
One of my favorite strategies is to turn your blog post into a podcast. And we're going to use that podcast for a couple of different things. But the way you do that is use a free tool called Google Notebook LM.
Once you create an account, which is free, we're going to create a new notebook. All you need to do is grab the URL of your blog post once again. And you want to add it as a source.
We can click the website button, insert there. You're going to give Google Notebook LM a couple of minutes. And on the right hand side, you're going to see that it says deep dive conversations generate.
This is where things get really, really fun. You're going to click generate. It's going to generate an audio file of two people having an incredibly realistic podcast style conversation about your blog post.
And the best thing is that Google Notebook LM recently made an update. You can now create your podcast in 50 different languages. So, if you're doing this in a a language other than English, you're still okay.
Now that my podcast has been generated, you see that it's actually 31 minutes long. I can play it to see what it sounds like. Artificial intelligence uh AI can really boost your online game.
Think of it. I still get chills when I hear this stuff. It's so realistic.
What you want to do is download this entire thing. Sometimes it might be a little bit longer. Sometimes it might be a little bit shorter.
It all depends on the context or the the depth of the topic at hand. Now, we want to upload this podcast wave file into SoundCloud. We're going to be using that file again later on.
You want to title it appropriately. We're going to leave the gener as I'm pretty sure we can do learning fantastic the style podcast. You can reuse some of the images that we got chat GPT to generate for us earlier.
Like this one here. I'm going to upload that as a file. And we're going to upload.
With our podcast file uploaded into Soundcloud, we want to click the share button. And what we're after is this inbed code. Don't worry if it says WordPress code.
It'll work for most website builders. Now, in the back end of that same podcast, that same blog post, sorry. We want to embed a little piece of code.
We want to go to HTML embed, your website builder, no matter if it's WordPress, Shopify, Web Flow, should have a little embed code in it. We're going to click to save and we're going to publish the changes. This does two very important things from an SEO perspective.
You're giving your audience another way to consume your content, making your website more accessible. The more accessible your content and your website is, the better for SEO, but also you're adding a very positive signal to Google because people who listen to the podcast whilst on the blog page will spend more time on this page. The longer time spent is a very positive signal for Google.
Now you see my little podcast right there. Because you went through the trouble of creating your podcast from your blog post, we're going to use that wave file to get you a incredibly highquality backlink from Spotify to your blog post. And this is strategy number eight.
For this, you need an account in creatorspotify. com, which is completely free. Once you generate your free account, we're going to click the new episode button, and we need to upload that wave file in here.
and you're going to give the episode a name, AI for local SEO, for example. In this podcast, we touched the best strategy for optimizing for local SEO using AI tools. Now, you want to add a description for this.
And in the description, one of the most important things you want to do is obviously add your backlink or your blog post URL. You can do that by writing something like read more here. You want to link it to here.
Opening a new tab is fine. I'm going to hit enter. And now I am going to go to next publish.
Now you need to wait till it finishes uploading. Once you do that, you should be able to publish the podcast. Congratulations.
Now you have a really highquality backlink that's pointing to your blog post, giving that blog post a little bit more importance in Google's eyes. Now I need to say that this is counted as a no furow type of backlink. Regardless, it still gives your podcast a nice little healthy SEO boost.
Now we've done external linking, we need to move on to strategy number 10, and that is internally linking your blog post. The idea here is to grab a blog post that is already ranking really well and already has some traffic and you want to find a place where it makes sense for you to link, for example, from here to that new blog post. This makes your blog post a lot more easy to find for Google.
It also shares that little bit of a link juice from this high ranking blog post to this new one. Now to stack a couple of the strategies that we went mentioned together, getting an external link, also improving that on time page spent on the blog post. We want to embed a YouTube video onto your blog.
Ideally, it's a YouTube video that you recorded. But if you don't have one, then find a YouTube video that is very related to the topic at hand. But the beautiful thing about creating your own YouTube video about that topic is that in the video descriptions below, you can link back to your blog post.
Therefore, doing two things. Getting another external link to that new blog post, but also increasing the on time spent on that blog post, which as we know from before is a very positive signal that you can give to Google. And the YouTube video we can count as a supporting content for that blog.
And another type of supporting content moves us to strategy number 12, which is adding illustrations to your blog post. Illustrations like this are now extremely easy to do. All you need to do is go to a website called napkin.
ai. As of the time of this recording, this is completely free and one of my favorite tools that I've been using for a while. You're going to create a new napkin, blank napkin.
What you want to do is grab a section of your blog post. Let's say I want to create this section. Give it some supporting illustrations.
Grab it. Go back to napkin. ai, paste it in there, select the whole thing, and click this button here.
This is going to read the content and give you a few options of an supporting illustration. And I can scroll down here and see which one I like most. Let's say I like this one here.
And I can also change the different styles. I really like this tool. Now, you can download this as a PNG and upload it in that section of the blog post where it's appropriate for you to do so.
One thing before you upload it though is make sure you convert this PNG into a WEBP file. This is going to make sure that image is nice and light and your website is not going to load very slowly. One of my favorite ways to keep people longer on my blog post and adding those positive click signals is strategy number 13 and that is adding interactive HTML elements to your blog post.
This might sound a little bit tricky to do but it is extremely easy. Let me give you an example of what that might look like. This is a blog post all about local SEO.
And if people click these locations bars as well as these services, it's telling me how many services pages I need to build for the location. So if I want three locations, three services pages, I need to build a total of nine. If I add another service, well then I need 12.
One more service, I need 15. It's just another way, a nice way to articulate and illustrate the point that I'm trying to make. And the tool that we use to do this is Gemini 2.
5 Pro. You can try this for free at gemini. google.
com. You want to make sure that you've got 2. 5 Pro selected.
And you want to have the canvas feature selected. This is really important. And now all you have to do is grab and copy the content of that blog post.
Go to Gemini. Paste it in here. And before you hit enter, you're going to ask it to do the following.
Please take a look at my blog post. Understand it. I want to create a fun interactive HTML element that I can use to add supporting elements to my blog.
Give me a few ideas. First, we need it to generate a few ideas for us. And remember to ask it to create this thing in HTML only because we don't want to have to import other libraries or external APIs.
You can do that if you know what you're doing, but we're going to keep things nice and simple. Perfect. I like the first idea.
For example, I'm going to ask it to generate idea number one. But before I do that, I need to select the canvas feature and go great, generate number one. And now, because I've got the canvas feature selected, you should see a slide out coming out from the right.
This is going to allow you to see this in real time. And now, if I've got the preview tab selected, I can see that even this is a fun little element that I can add to it that will have people clicking on my blog post and spending more time on it. If you don't like what it created, tell it.
If you have any ideas on how it should change it, tell it and it'll do that for you. The only thing then you need to do once you're happy with your HTML element, you need to copy the code, go to the back end of your blog post and inject a little HTML element just like we did with our SoundCloud link. And if you've done things correctly, you will have a fun little interactive HTML element like this one that is going to keep people longer on your page and clicking more, which is two very positive signals for Google to have.
And if you've tried all these strategies and after 6 and 12 months you're still getting no traffic to your blog post, it's time for the big guns for our final strategy number 14. And that is deleting the blog post. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but in this instance, it's a little bit like cutting off a finger to save the hand.
If that finger is infected, you might as well get rid of it. And that is the same thing when it comes to your blog post. Give it some time, though.
Allow it at least 6 to 12 months. I do this twice a year. I go through all the pages and see which ones is getting absolutely no traffic and no impressions.
For example, this one here, the best way to learn SEO isn't getting any clicks. So, I might as well select it and delete it. And don't worry about the 404 error not found.
Google actually doesn't mind if there is an 404 error. What you shouldn't do is redirect that to your home page. And that is it.
I hope you like all the 14 strategies. I can guarantee that if you try a lot of these next time you publish a blog post, you will get more traffic to that post which will generate into potential customers.
