do you believe in God I believe I believe there's some there's some explanation for this universe which you might call God curiosity is very eye openening it drives us to challenge everything we know and no one exemplifies this more than Elon Musk everyone knows Elon Musk is a man whose life has been very influenced by the Bible's teachings but now he is exploring and talking about original writings that have been hidden from the Christian church for Millennia what were these original writings and how have they changed elon's perspective on the Christian faith join us as
we go back in time to examine all he has said and learned about the original Bible the earliest Christian writings although it might sound shocking to you the idea of an original Bible getting lost in history is nothing new being the Avid Reader who loves to learn everything about what he believes it is no surprise the famous Tech billionaire who once made Waves by identifying as a Christian in an interview with Jordan Peterson is now looking into aspects of the religion that have been ignored and rejected by Christians for almost 2,000 years this talk of
an original Bible came at an interesting time when Jordan's new hit Bible series the gospels was just starting to make waves on the internet and according to the historians they discussed with St Paul the man who wrote almost half of the books of the New Testament was executed by Emperor Nero in 65 ad barely 30 years after the death of Christ this effectively means that all his letters were written before then and with some of them quoting and paraphrasing sayings from the Gospels it is safe to say those books were already written and widely distributed
as well but here is where it gets interesting the last book of the New Testament commonly known as The Book of Revelation was written in 96 ad and with no other Apostle alive to write sacred letters about Christ to the churches the New Testament was now complete from then on many ancient Christian scribes and Scholars worked hard to gather all the writings and keep them safe but the original Scrolls couldn't last for long and many churches needed all of them at once to address this they made thousands of copies of the New Testament and distributed
them to the different churches keep in mind that this was a difficult time when nobody was sure of what books to include in the Bible as many widely distributed writings on the life and teachings of Christ look suspicious it took centuries to compile the New Testament books we have today according to Elon in 95 ad barely a year before the Book of Revelation was written Clement of Rome a man who was taught by Disciples of St Peter already had eight books from the New Testament in his collection over a decade later in 108 ad polycarp
a popular disciple of St John acknowledged 15 books as sacred the next public acknowledgement came 70 years later by another famous Church Father called aranias he authenticated 21 books as sacred and hippitus another leading Church Father recognized 22 books as is authentic these books would become known as the muratorian Canon and their approval was very important because too many fake gospel accounts and letters were out there great examples of these fake writings were the Epistle of Barnabas the Gospel of Thomas and the famous Book of Enoch and these are just a few out of several
the big problem was that the average person back then either didn't know what made these books fake or why the early church fathers could be trusted in approving certain books as real and throwing out others as forgeries because of this Elon points out that there was Rising chaos and division on which books were original and which ones weren't marking the first time in history when the idea of an original Bible came up realizing how growing division could potentially end the religion eusebius the famous historian and Bishop of cesaria wrote large books about Christian history and
how the widely accepted books came to be to prevent more confusion he divided the books into three groups he called canonical disputed and spirus the canonical books were the ones that were approved by the earliest church leaders who met eyewitnesses of Christ and the apostles the disputed books were approved by only a fraction of the earliest Church fathers and not everyone agreed on whether they were real or fake among these writings were the third Epistle of John in the Book of Revelation and the spurious books are the ones that were exposed as fake by the
earliest leaders of the church who knew the apostles eusebius wrote all about this in his famous work ecclesiastical history history an ancient book Elon Musk claims he has enjoyed reading in recent weeks thanks to UIA work there was less confusion on which books were real and fake and more clarity was brought later on by St Jerome The Man known for translating the sacred writings into the common language of Rome Jerome was from Bethlehem and with many years of experience with translating the scriptures the books he approved would become the same collection we have in our
Old Testament Bibles today but here is the twist Constantine and the church Council from St Peter's first arrest in late 33 ad up until the early 4th Century the Roman Empire had caused a lot of trouble for Christians and many attempts were made to tamper with the original collections of the sacred writings the first major persecution happened under Emperor Nero a man who blamed the Christians for all the problems Rome was facing at the time including the great fire that destroyed many crops and buildings The Inferno lasted for almost a week destroying everything in its
path before they could bring it under control Christians were blamed for This Disaster and as a result they were arrested tortured and killed in horrible ways on top of that many of the sacred writings were found and destroyed with the same thing happening again under Emperor dius and dioclesian they ordered the destruction of all scriptures the destruction was so immense that many historians believe that was the moment when a lot of the writings got lost in history as a part of an original Bible collection we no longer have today but a big moment came on
July 25th in 306 ad when flavius constantius a famous ruler at the time who also opposed Christianity died from an unknown illness his son Constantine was declared the new ruler but he only ruled a section of Rome with the three other parts ruled by different leaders but Constantine wasn't satisfied with ruling just one part of the tetrarchy he wanted to rule every part of Rome the problem was was he wasn't the only one who wanted to become the Supreme Emperor as the other three leaders were already fighting among themselves the biggest Contender among the three
was maxentius who ruled a big chunk of Italy and in 312 ad Constantine faced maxentius at the mvan bridge and what happened next was unbelievable the night before the battle began Constantine had a dream and during this experience he looked up to the sky and saw a cross of light with these famous words by this sign you shall conquer the cross had become a famous Christian symbol at that time and believing he was being instructed by the Christian God on how to win he told his soldiers to paint the cross on their Shields Constantine was
confident he would win the battle by using that symbol and the struggle began shortly after Daybreak as expected the battle was fierce but despite the odds stacked against them Constantine's Army eventually overpowered their opponents the battle ended on October 28th when Constantine chased maxentius to the Tyber River where he drowned while trying to escape believing it was the god of Christianity who helped him win Constantine became a Christian and made it legal to become one by the following year this new policy saved many Christians from getting killed and it became known as the Edict of
Milan Constantine supported various efforts to preserve the sacred writings and by this time all the books of our current New Testament were accepted as auth authentic but there were growing divisions among Christians at the time so much so that Constantine was not sure of what to believe in anymore so from June 19 in 325 ad barely a year after he became Sovereign emperor Constantine had special meetings with the leading Scholars and Bishops within the Christian Community to help him make sense of things these special meetings became known as the Council of NAA and their conclusions
became known as the nyine Creed a statement of beliefs that defined what the religion was about and who could identify as a Christian as for the Bible all 27 books of the New Testament were accepted marked by the Easter letter given by St athanasius of Alexandria in 367 ad where he referred to all the books as valid historical documents this leads us to our next phase in the Quest for the original Bible the monastic communities from the late 4th Century a new group of people played a major role in preserving the sacred text through the
Middle Ages these men and women dedicated their lives to their religion living far from the rest of the world so they could focus more on praying working and studying their job was copying the Bible by hand as there were no printing presses back then they did this in special rooms called scriptoria and wrote most of the time with quills dipped in ink their communities were called monasteries and their written works were often decorated with beautiful drawings called illuminations by the 12 Century a popular Theologian named Peter Lombard wrote a book titled sentences where he discussed
some of the basic doctrines of the Christian faith using simple words from his perspective Peter just wanted to have a book out there with his name on it but contrary to all he expected it also made him very famous many scholars wrote commentaries on his writings and among them were Heavy Hitters like Thomas aquinus and Bonaventure to them Peter Lombard's work was very helpful in explaining the difficult Concepts taught by early church fathers but what made it even more interesting was that despite the great approval he got from everyone within the Christian Community a lot
of his writings Drew inspiration from many texts that were once regarded as fake thanks to how much was learned from Peter Lumber's work the church slowly became favorable to these books and because of this the monastic communities were now tasked with producing more copies of the Bible with these writings that were once regarded as fake and were now called duto canonical books or apocryphal these books were added as part of the scriptures they were treated with the same level of authority as the main books the Bible back then wasn't as widely distributed as it is
today so only a few people knew about this most of them were divided on the issue and among those who stood against it was Martin Luther a man whose writings would split the Church of Europe in unprecedented ways here is how it happened the Protestant Reformation Martin Luther was a German monk in professor who was growing increasingly upset with the way the sacred writings were handled at the time he felt the leaders of the church were mixing what the writings said with tradition taking huge amounts of money from poor people in exchange for the assurance
that they and their loved ones would be at peace in the afterlife Martin believed the Christian religion should be lived out by grace through faith alone and no aspect of it should be bought with money he also spoke out against the addition of writings that were not sacred arguing that the 66 books were already perfect and complete for every good work as far as he was concerned adding to them was not helpful and with these in mind he wrote down his ideas and nailed them to the door of the large Castle Church in vitberg Germany
this was done on October 31st 1517 and he wanted every scholar who stepped into the church to at least look at it but what he intended to be a private debate among the church leaders quickly spread to the masses and in a matter of weeks there were massive protests and riots at various places people were angry that their Liv lives were made Difficult by teachings that weren't part of the sacred writings and this resistance led to the famous Protestant Reformation four years later Martin Luther was declared An Outlaw by the authorities and many who followed
the teachings of Rome wanted to end his life realizing he was in danger Martin Luther hid at wartberg Castle while he was there he realized those who fought against the pope had no idea what they were fighting for as most of them couldn't read the sacred writings for themselves to help the people Martin Luther decided to translate the Bible for them believing the scriptures should be accessible to everyone he got to work immediately instead of translating it literally Martin went for a more Dynamic approach as he wanted this translation to be clear and simple enough
for the uneducated to understand by late 1522 he had completed the New Testament and made it available for everyone to read the church leaders were against this because as far as they knew allowing average people to read the sacred writings for themselves would only lead to chaos and disorder Martin saw where they were coming from but believed it was worth it and by early 1534 he had translated all 66 books despite his earlier convictions he also translated the dudo canonical books but kept them under a separate section after the Old Testament stating that they were
helpful but not foundational his writing spread across Europe as soon as they were released at that time not many people could read and write and they relied on those who read it out for them but with Martin insisting that his Bible should be made available for everyone to read for themselves many people eventually learned how to read so they could understand the scriptures for themselves thanks to his efforts literacy and education grew rampant across Europe and the leaders of Rome couldn't take it anymore Martin had to die as an example so the people could listen
but unfortunately for them he was always protected by powerful politicians like Frederick the wise and elector of Saxony both of whom enjoyed his writings and learned a lot from him elector even gave him a safe home to stay in and work from with everything he needed at all times sadly as we shall see many of his followers were not as lucky John Dr a man who echoed many of the teachings he learned from Martin Luther was expelled from the church while his followers were publicly executed mikal Satler an anabaptist leader who also believed the sacred
writings were tampered with was beaten and executed while William tindel The Man known for translating the Bible into English was publicly burned at the stake shortly after tindell's death there was a renewed interest in Biblical history and in 1536 another famous reformer came to the Limelight his name was John Calvin and he wanted to explain and defend the Reformed Church especially its growing hatred for the dudo canonical books that were still held as Sacred By The Church of Rome he did this through the release of his famous book Institutes of the Christian religion and it
got popular enough to form a New Movement among Protestants known as Calvinism while the rest of the church saw only the 66 books of the Bible as sacred Calvin's followers now known as Calvinists called them inherent implying that the books were perfect and complete with no errors at all while other movements among Protestants said the deuterocanonical book should be treated with respect but not at the same level as the other scriptures Calvinists insisted they weren't sacred at all and only the 66 should be treated with great respect Calvin was hostile to all beliefs that implied
the 66 books weren't complete he didn't like the idea of an original Bible with books that had gotten lost in history he also believed the 66 books weren't just historical accounts but were breathed out by God and written by men though these beliefs sounded wild at the time the influence it had was undeniable and was most apparent when the British and foreign Bible Society decided to stop including the other books in the Bibles they printed from 1826 now this is where it gets wild the Dead SE Scrolls sometime in the late' 40s a young Shepherd
living near Kuman a region south of Jericho was looking for his lost goat he searched everywhere around his home but couldn't find it not long after he came across a cold dark cave close to the Dead Sea and wanting to be sure no wild animal was in there he threw a stone inside and heard a strange sound instead of a roar what he heard was a faint crashing sound like a broken Clay Pot wanting to know what it was the young man bravely walked into the cave and found multiple clay jars with very old Scrolls
inside he reported what he found to the authorities and soon enough they discovered many more Scrolls that were hidden in more caves across the coast the Scrolls were over 2,000 years old and they were early copies of the Hebrew Bible with every sacred book except Esther but that wasn't the amazing part these copies of the scriptures despite being much older than the Scrolls most of our modern Bibles were translated from were over 95% identical with our modern translations the remaining 5% were mostly spelling errors too insignificant to affect the core meaning of the text the
Scrolls were written in Aramaic Hebrew and Greek and also included additional rules hymns and commentaries on all of the books another interesting fact was that some of the rejected books of the Bible were also found among the Scrolls including the book of cyak in the Epistle of Jeremiah this discovery brought back interest in the subject of what books might be part of the original Bible as the Dead Scrolls prove that ancient Jews also saw the rejected books as sacred but to this day these books continue to be rejected by the Protestant church and that leads
us back to the elephant in the room the original Bible one out of every three people today identifies as Christian the Bible is available in multiple languages over 400 translations of the Bible are in English directly adapted and revised from over 20,000 ancient Scrolls uncovered in recent times with that said it's a huge surprise that that Christians are still divided on what books should be regarded as sacred most Christian Scholars would agree that the rejected books of the New Testament were all fake for example the Gospel of Thomas had many things that disagreed with the
four gospels and was written over a hundred years after St Thomas died the Gospel of Mary was never widely accepted by the earliest churches in the acts of Paul unlike Acts of the Apostles had so many wild claims that it was never taken seriously the rejected books of the Old Testament also had their problems with some of them written long after the death of Jesus for example The Book of Tobit disagrees with many books of the New Testament when it says giving money to the poor can save a person from Death second mccabes implies that
it's all right to pray for the dead but the New Testament also disagrees with that things only get confusing when we consider the Dead Sea Scrolls as proof that a lot of Jews took these books seriously in the past Elon seems to believe these rejected books are part of the original Cannon of the oldest Testament as far as he knows the ancient Jews who preserved the Dead Sea Scrolls didn't reject those books as less inspired than the rest and neither should others still the age-old debate lingers among Christians to this day and until a definite
answer is found Scholars strive to find out what books make up the original content of the sacred writings so what do you think are the rejected books of the Bible authentic or should Elon just get a new hobby let us know in the comments down below if if you enjoyed the video make sure you like share and subscribe also click the next video shown on your screen you will enjoy it
