welcome to today's episode where we delve into a critical yet often overlooked aspect of heart health silent inflammation I'm Barbara O'Neal and today we're uncovering the hidden risks that silent inflammation poses to our hearts many of us may not even realize that beneath the surface a quiet battle could be waging within our cardiovascular system leading to Chronic heart conditions and impacting our overall health in this podcast we'll EXP explore what silent inflammation is why it's dangerous and most importantly how you can protect yourself from these hidden threats join me as we learn not only to
listen to our hearts but to understand the silent messages they're sending us two that you be well hydrated water the water loss in a day is about 2 and 1 half lers that's 1.5 lers out through the kidneys are5 of a liter out of the skin 3 of a liter out of the colon and2 of a liter out of your lungs that's 2 and a half liters a day so two lers must be replaced the other half a liter can come through herb teas maybe your juice maybe your salad maybe your fruit salad you're getting
some moisture there but that water must be replaced keeping the heart with all diligence those muscles need water because out of it are the issues of life and the best blood thinner is water but for us to access that water we need sodium sodium in the form of whole salt now let's have a look at the highest concentration of sodium on the planet is seawater so seawater contains 92 minerals and of those 92 minerals 30% is made up of sodium and 50% is made up of chloride now because they make up the largest amount of
the minerals in the seawater the first crystals formed when the water is evaporated from sea water is sodium chloride and so what man does is he Scoops that up bleaches it white puts that aminium with it so it runs freely there's your table salt and your table salt is a dangerous salt it only has two minerals sodium chloride and if you were inject sodium chloride straight into the veins you would kill the person they're very harsh minerals those two they need to be buffered with all the other minerals the salt that we use is Celtic
salt and Celtic salt has 82 minerals where are the other 10 will they're in such Pico proportion barely measurable that it's inevitable that they're lost in the evaporation process but hey 82s a lot closer to 92 isn't it now in that Celtic salt there are three magnesiums so magnesium sulfate there's magnesium bromide and magnesium chloride mag magnesium is an incredibly important mineral in the human body it's responsible for about 400 enzymic functions magnesium is very very important in the heart because there are two minerals that cause that heart to beat well there's a few but
basically these two calcium constricts magnesium relax relaxes calcium constricts magnesium relaxes and so an important part of getting proper heart health especially if someone has high blood pressure is magnesium magnesium is a water hungry molecule which means it absorbs water into itself and when you put Celtic salt in a bowl on the table and we have a lot of rain you come and look at that salt and it'll be quite wet because it's absorbing the moisture out of the air when you take a crystal of this Celtic salt and put it on your tongue already
the mucus membranes in the mouth are absorbing the minerals it is taken in the blood to the cell and that magnesium causes the water to be drawn into the cell it's the quickest way to hydrate the human body now around the cell there isn't one membrane it's a bilayered membrane and when the water rushes through the cell into the CBD under the action of magnesium a little motor is triggered in that membrane to start spinning and the spinning of that little motor gives us a unit of energy so when everyone at work is going out
to get their coffee or their cigarette to get a boost you just get your Crystal of Celtic salt put it on your tongue have a glass of water and you watch that little energy boost that you will get and you won't get the drop like they will all get they might get initial rise but then there's always a corresponding drop and I'll explain that process in a little bit more detail on Saturday morning quickest way to hydrate the body the soils are mineral deficient today the plants are mineral deficient today and so doing this every
glass of water is an excellent way to start to recover some of the minerals that so many people in New Zealand Australia and America today are deficient in especially the Magnesium now there is one drink that leeches the magnesium and the calcium out of the body and that is caffeine now there was a bit of a groan last night when I mentioned this one I call it Australia's darling is it New Zealand's darling too what's a darling something they love and it's it's very very effective at leeching the calcium and the Magnesium out of the
body and most people don't realize that that coffee is a huge contributing factor to dehydration to Heart malfunction and also to imbalance in heart beats silent inflammation is a stealthy enemy of heart health often going unnoticed until it manifests as a serious health issue unlike acute inflammation which is is characterized by visible signs such as swelling or pain silent inflammation is far more Insidious because it lacks these outward symptoms making it particularly perilous it typically occurs when our body's immune response becomes chronically activated due to Lifestyle factors such as a poor diet excessive stress and
insufficient exercise over time this type of low-grade inflammation can lead to significant damage within the heart's arteries contributing to the buildup of plaque this accumulation can eventually result in atherosclerosis a major factor in heart disease to effectively counteract silent inflammation adopting an anti-inflammatory lifestyle is crucial this involves consuming a diet rich in antioxidants which are abundantly found in fruits vegetables nuts and whole grains furthermore integrating regular physical activity into your daily schedule can help reduce inflammation levels and bolster heart health these lifestyle choices not only help manage silent inflammation but also improve overall cardiovascular function
and resilience against heart diseases I've had guests say to me well my husband's on lipore and his memory's gone I don't know anyone who's interested in muscle loss memory loss or Alzheimer or dementia are you and you can actually very safely come off cholesterol lowering medication immediately with no ramifications it is not proven to prevent heart disease it's a nonissue what causes heart disease absolutely the buildup in the artery but why is the buildup there it's because of the high sugar high wheat high alcohol diet it's because of the lifestyle basically that uh that many
are doing today it's a whole lot of little things that are causing this so another no is not fat but it's wheat why wheat well when the hybridization process of making the wheat the glue UT or protein structure of wheat was changed so originally wheat was inkhorn now I don't think that eye should be there I think that eye should be there enor wheat that was the original wheat and it had a very fragile structure and that fragile protein or gluten structure means very easy to be broken down so easy to be broken down in
the grind in the cooking in the chewing in your digestive enzymes and it is not sure when but a few thousand years ago there was a a field hybrid with another wild grassp that produced Emma wheat and Emma wheat is not quite as fragile but it is still fairly fragile and it is the Emma wheat that was went through the Intensive crossbreeding so the hybridized wheat that was hybridized in the 50s went worldwide in the 70s so by the 1990s in New Zealand in Australia in America every pasta every wheat every cereal every dut cake
etc etc is made of the hybridized wheat and that structure of that hybridized wheat is incredibly complex very difficult for the G to break down and you look at the Timeline 1990s well established that's when all the gluten intolerance gluten sensitivity gluten uh intolerance to the point of celiac Celiac can't even touch it gluten intolerant really they should only have it once in a blue mood Gluten Sensitive they can probably have a slice of bread or wheat so basically Gluten Sensitive gluten intolerant and gluten uh to the PO intolerant to the point of celiac basically
is just um describing the intensity of the intolerance can you still buy the original you can buy spelt and you can buy kamut and spelt and cut have the same structure of the Emma so you can still buy that you can still buy spelt and commute you can buy it as pasta you can buy it as bread Celiac who are severe intolerance often they can't even handle the spelt or the commut but often Gluten Sensitive or gluten intolerant can now if that hybridized wheat was made into a sourdough bread because of the culturing process it
breaks down the gluten structure to make it a little bit more fragile and if spelt is made into sourdough bread it can bring it back to that original structure of the anchorn wheat now if someone eats wheat and they have a intolerance to it do you know it can get that blood pressure up so blood pressure can be caused by wheat so how do you know what you are I've got a challenge for you stop it for two months see what happens well what will we eat well you can buy some very nice spelt and
cut Breads in New Zealand go to your health food shop you can buy gluten-free pastas you can buy gluten-free cereals but as you saw in my lecture last night and by what I explained before the break the three main essential food groups are your fiber your protein and your fats what we need to do is get the carbohydrate part of our diet down down down another significant aspect of managing silent inflammation involves addressing stress and Sleep Quality chronic stress can exacerbate inflammatory responses within the body placing additional strain on the heart prolonged stress triggers a
Cascade of biochemical reactions that can intensify inflammation potentially leading to an increased risk of heart disease techniques such as mindfulness meditation and yoga can be highly effective in reducing stress levels these practices help calm the Mind reduce cortisol levels and enhance overall emotional resilience which in turn decreases the body's inflammatory response additionally ensuring adequate and high quality sleep each night is crucial for heart health sleep serves as a restorative period where the body can repair and regenerate tissues including those in the cardiovascular system it helps mitigate the effects of inflammation by curbing the production of
stress hormones and bolstering the immune system by prioritizing both sleep and Stress Management you not only protect your heart but also enhance your overall health and well-being making these areas a priority can lead to significant improvements in heart health and a reduction in silent inflammation related risks so what do we eat well I'll tell you what I ate today for breakfast I had some new seasoned Apple I had some uh nectron I had some almonds I had a gluten-free uh bread that had been bought that had buckwheat and some very nice grains in it I
had olive oil on that I had avocado on top of that and I had blackeyed beans on that very high in fiber everything had fiber generous amounts of of protein and some healthy fats and then I I'm not hungry again I think we ate at 8:00 today and I think we had lunch at 2:30 something like that you're not hungry till then fantastic cuz those foods keep the body going they slowly release the nutrients what do we have for lunch well we got some magnificent fresh corn so we all had a big cob of corn
each we had a big salad with avocado we made a guacal mashed up the avocado with some oil and salt and uh lemon juice and then uh we had baked sweet potato you call it kumra and then I blended up cashews to a milk with garlic and salt and then I cooked um broccoli in that and I'd already cooked some chickpeas which I'd rinsed well and put into that that was our lunch today it's a quar 8 I'm not hungry and I don't expect to get hungry again can you see that food takes you the
distance very low carbohydrate when you eat like that you hardly need bread so no caffeine no wheat and no refined sugar refined sugar is dangerous it clogs up the arteries it makes the blood very very sticky and you can get so many delicious sweet like honey and maple syrup and even the coconut sugars there's no need to go to the refined sugar alcohol is bad news on the heart and tobacco they must stop if you want heart health keeping the heart with all diligence and number four sorry we've done number four this is number five
is high fiber all your plant-based food goods are high fiber generous amounts of protein and your healthy fats now there are two herbs that work very well in strengthening the heart and you may have heard of this herb it's number six where up to it's the Hawthorne Berry and I wouldn't be surprised if you've got Hawthorne berries growing in New Zealand because in Australia they grow in Victoria because they love the cold climate I think they're originally from um England and because the English came here I wouldn't be surprised if they bought the hawthor berry
the horor berry strengthens the heart it brings it back to normality often people have harder Rhythm often caused by caffein and Wheats and refined sugar not even realizing that the food they're eating is causing the problem but hawthorn berry can bring it back to normality it's an incredibly safe herb you might get hawor Berry tablets and have one three times a day if it's not doing it do two three times a day do four three times a day it's very very safe you see if you don't turn the tap off you're still going to be
mopping up in the other Corner that's why these things must be implemented you must keep that heart with all diligence so the hawthor berry if your blood pressure is too high it'll bring it down if it's too low it'll bring it up the other herb is C pepper now C pepper is one of the most powerful blood thinners that there is about 15 years ago at our health retreat in Melbourne uh the chef was giving a cooking class to 15 guests and I got a call lady had had a heart attack she was about 80
she'd already had a couple that year of M minor ones so I ran I was at the health center in 3 minutes the guests are standing around terrified of course the ladies on the ground she's totally pale she was half conscious a guy was holding a pulse he said the pulse is almost gone I said quick get the C pepper I quickly got half a teaspoon of can pepper and put it in her mouth she was half conscious I said give me a bit of water she was able to drink a little and it must
have been two minutes and the guy holding a pulse yelled out the pulse is strong lastly regular medical checkups play a pivotal role in detecting and managing silent inflammation which can be a hidden threat to heart health blood tests that measure markers of inflammation such as C reactive protein CRP are essential tools for assessing your infl flat status elevated levels of CRP and other markers can indicate the presence of inflammation and prompt further investigation and medical intervention these tests are crucial for catching silent inflammation early before it leads to more serious conditions like heart disease
in addition to these medical assessments integrating Lifestyle Changes is vital a balanced diet regular exercise and Stress Management can significant L lower inflammation levels and thereby reduce your risk of heart disease combining these lifestyle adjustments with regular monitoring of inflammation markers provides a comprehensive approach to heart health thank you for joining me today to explore the crucial topic of protecting your heart from Silent inflammation I hope this discussion enlightens you and inspires you to take actionable steps towards safeguarding your heart health remember the choices we make every day significantly impact our heart's well-being take care
of your heart it's the only one you've got
