Welcome to Movie Shortens. Follow us today to a 1998 American adventure action survival film called: Six Days Seven Nights. Before we start, be aware: there are spoilers!
As we begin the film, we see a woman named Robin Monroe on her way to work for a magazine company in busy New York City. Her boss, Marjorie, is upset with some of her company's work. Robin and Marjorie continue to discuss work issues, and then Robin suddenly receives a large bouquet of flowers from her boyfriend Frank Martin.
At dinner, Frank surprises Robin with a getaway trip for 6 days and seven nights to a tropical island. The couple arrives on the island, and Robin goes to find the charter plane to take them to their destination. She comes across pilot Quinn Harris, who tells her the plane that she was originally going to take is elsewhere, and he is to fill in and take them instead.
Robin expresses concern over the state of the plane, but Quinn reassures her everything is safe. Frank also tries to reassure Robin, and they eventually board the plane. Before they take off, a beautiful woman named Angelica also boards the plane.
They take off, and eventually arrive at the island's resort. Later that night, Frank reminds Robin that it is their 3 year anniversary of knowing each other. Frank then proposes to Robin and she says yes.
Frank goes away for a second, and Quinn takes the opportunity to try and flirt with Robin. Quinn begins to make fun of the tourists that come to the island, and David arrives, and they both leave. The next day, Robin gets a call from Marjorie to go on a work trip to a nearby island in the middle of her vacation.
Robin reluctantly agrees, and goes to ask Quinn to take her. Quinn declines at first, but then agrees once offered a large sum of money from Robin. Back in the couple's room, Frank is upset that Robin is going away right after he proposed to her, but Robin reassures him things will be okay.
Before they get ready to leave, Robin expresses concern over flight safety again, but Quinn says he's her best option. They take off, and Robin shows Quinn a bit of her work with her magazine company. As the flight goes on, the weather begins to worsen.
Meanwhile at the resort Frank is having dinner, and sees Angelica dancing, and is captivated. Quinn radios for a weather update, but is unable to hear the response. Quinn makes the decision to turn back to the resort to avoid the bad weather.
Robin takes some medicine to help her with her stress from the situation, but Quinn eventually cuts her off. Suddenly lightning strikes the plane, and Quinn is forced to radio in a mayday distress call. Quinn becomes frustrated at Robin, who has taken too much medicine.
Quinn looks for a place to land, seeing an island nearby. They crash land on the beach, miraculously surviving. The next day, Robin wakes up, wondering where she is.
She is shocked to see the damage to the plane and asks Quinn if he can fix it. He tells her he is not able to fix this kind of damage, and suddenly Robin has an idea to use her phone to call for help but quickly realizes there's no reception. After unpacking their supplies, Quinn breaks down the gravity of their situation to Robin.
He also tells her that they may be stuck together for a very long time, and she demands the money back she gave him for the trip. Robin rushes into Quinn's plane and finds a life raft. She wants to use it to get off the island but Quinn advises her against it.
Back at the resort, Frank gets a call from Marjorie who is wondering where Robin is. Soon Frank and Angelica are very worried about their respective partners, checking for any information. Back on the island, as they are going to collect some drinking water, Quinn and Robin continue to bicker and express their dislike for each other.
Meanwhile, Frank and Angelica meet up with the rescue pilot Tom Marlowe and his crewman Ricky to begin a search and rescue. Meanwhile on the island, Quinn and Robin traverse through the thick foliage of the jungle. They come to a nearby waterfall, but Robin is frightened by a wild pig.
Robin runs into the water but immediately realizes something is wrong. She tells Quinn that a snake has made its way into her pants, and so he reaches in to grab the snake, throwing it to the side. A short time after, Robin watches as Quinn cuts up some foliage, which she uses as a disguise to hunt some peacocks for food.
Later that night, Quinn is making dinner out of his catch from the day. They begin to talk about Quinn's past, and he tells her how he came to live on the resort island. Robin makes an insult but then quickly apologizes, and they finish dinner.
They both say good night, and then the next day Robin wakes up to hear a plane overhead. She tries to rouse Quinn, but instead takes his flare gun. She tries to fire but is tripped up by Quinn, who is half asleep.
Quinn wakes up and is furious that Robin used the flare unnecessarily. They begin to argue yet again, blaming each other for the situation that they currently find themselves in. Meanwhile, the search party continues to look for Robin and Quinn.
Back on the island, the two make a hike for the island's peak to find a beacon. Suddenly however the ground breaks beneath them and they tumble into a cave. They gather themselves and continue the long trek up the mountainside, eventually reaching the peak.
They soon come to realize that there is no beacon, and that they are on a completely deserted island. Quinn takes him over to express his frustrations, but Robin tries to reassure him, telling him that she needs him to stay focused and strong. Suddenly off in the distance, Robin spots a boat.
Quinn devises a plan to reach the boat by morning and they both take off down the mountain. During the night they take their lifeboat, and try to paddle out to meet the boat. The next morning, Robin begins to ask Quinn about his relationship with Angelica, as any past relationships.
Quinn tells Robin about his ex-wife who left him for his best friend, and then Robin spots another boat. Quinn takes a closer look and realizes that it's a pirate ship she has spotted. One of the pirates also spots Robin and Quinn, and they go to kill Robin and Quinn.
They both manage to escape on shore, but are pursued by the pirates. The duo manage to attack some of the pirates but are eventually captured. Robin then lies, telling the pirates that they have gold to buy them some time.
As they are being led away, Robin and Quinn managed to break away from the pirates. They rush along until they come to a dead end. Robin is afraid to make the jump down below, but Quinn kisses her and pushes her off the cliff.
The two eventually make it to another side of the island, and they end up kissing on the beach. They continue to make their way deeper into the island eventually coming across an old world war II plane. Back at the resort, Angelica offers for Frank to stay the night with her in her room, and Frank reluctantly declines.
On the deserted island, Quinn and Robin both state that they have feelings for one another, but Robin says that she can't act on them. They instead curl up together, and drift off to sleep. The next morning, Quinn begins taking apart the old World War II plane, claiming that he has a plan to get them off the island.
Meanwhile back at the resort, Angelica is told that the search party is going to leave soon, and she wakes up Frank, who as it turns out, was indeed intimate with Angelica the night before. At the same time, Quinn and Robin take some of the old plane parts along a river to their original plane. They continue to talk about Quinn's past, sharing some laughs along the way.
Quinn manages to bring a plane part down a small drop in the river, and beckons for Robin to do the same. Frank is having a meal with Angelica. He continues to whine and express his guilt over his affair with her.
They are then suddenly told by the resort manager that the search party has been called off for Quinn and Robin. On the island, Quinn and Robin continued to gather the materials necessary for them to rebuild the damaged parts to their plane. They move quickly, attaching rope and pieces of lumber to the plane to hold it steady.
They make work progress, both working furiously in tandem. They work to attach the world war II plane part to the base of their plane, tying together bamboo and other materials. After a long and arduous process, they finally have completed their makeshift repairs, but are suddenly besieged by the same pirates from earlier.
The two quickly prepare to make their escape amidst bombardment from the pirates. Quinn is injured by some of the bombardment, and Robin rushes to his aid. Quinn pulls himself into the plane with an injured arm, and fires up the plane.
Slowly but surely the plane begins to take off across the water. The pirates continue to fire on the plane, narrowly missing their target. As a speed closer towards the ship, Robin helps Quinn try to get some air under the plane.
They managed to escape the pirates, who end up blowing their own ship up while trying to hit the plane. In the air Robin tries to keep Quinn conscious, but he is quickly losing blood. He then begins to give her instructions on how to handle the plane in case he loses consciousness.
Back at the resort, a ceremony is being held for the supposed deaths of Robin and Quinn. David and Angelica stand amongst the crowd who have arrived in support of Robin and Quinn. The resort manager begins to give a speech but Frank breaks down crying asking the priest to forgive him for his sins.
Back on the plane, Quinn has lost consciousness and Robin is now flying solo. Angelica begins to comfort Frank, who is beside himself with grief. She then suddenly hears and sees Robin and Quinn's plane approaching in the distance.
Everybody is shocked to see their arrival, as Robin begins to land the plane, and they have a rough and hard landing on the beach. Robin wakes up Quinn and lets them know that they are back safe at the resort. Frank comes for Robin and gets a doctor for Quinn.
Afterwards, Frank checks in with Robin as to how she's doing. Robin notices that Frank is nervous, and he begins to express his guilt of what happened with Angelica. Robin then goes to visit Quinn in the hospital, and asks him what is the actual nature of the relationship at the current time.
He expresses his feelings that Robin deserves someone better than he and that they have two separate lives. Robin then gets up to leave and they wish each other good luck. Later on at the airport, Frank and Robin wait for their flight.
Robin tells Frank she doesn't think that she shouldn't get married, and Frank finally admits of his affair with Angelica. Robin then says that she and Frank really aren't in love and gives him back his engagement ring. Outside the airport, Quinn rushes to go find Robin before it's too late.
He rushes along the terminal, and sees the plane he thinks she is in as it takes off. Quinn stands there alone thinking he missed his opportunity, but then he sees Robin in the distance who has actually gotten off the plane. She then notices Quinn behind her, and they finally confess their real feelings for each other, and they kiss and embrace.
