One of the most insane things I've ever learned is that if aliens are out there from their perspective, Earth probably hasn't even formed yet. We humans have been blasting radio signals since 1974, basically screaming, "Hey, we're here. " into the void.
But that signal has only traveled 200 lighty years. That's rarely an inch in the galaxy. If aliens are living just 80 lighty years away and look our way, they don't see us.
They see World War II still happening. If they're 65 million lighty years out, they aren't seeing cities. They're watching dinosaurs walk the planet.
And if they are 4. 6 [music] billion lighty years away, the solar system hasn't even loaded in yet. It's just dust.
Now, 4. 6 billion sounds far, but the universe is 93 billion lighty years across. This means if there is intelligent life somewhere in the deep dark [music] for 95% of the places they could be, Earth is literally just empty space.
We aren't being ignored.
