[Music] hi my name is Andrea one of the finally our medical students go just confirm your name and date of birth please sure let's change the teeth of December 1989 nice to meet you James today I'd like to examine your ears this will just involve looking inside the ears with a piece of equipment called the otoscope and then using a number of different tests to examine your hearing would that be okay yeah that's fine okay James are now gonna start with a simple hearing test I'm gonna stand behind you and I'm gonna speak three different
numbers into each ear I want you to repeat them back to me when you hear them 66 66 43 43 71 71 66 66 41 41 23 23 I'm now gonna place this tuning fork in the middle of your forehead let me know whether you hear it loudest in one ear or the other or the middle I'm now gonna place this tuning fork on the bone behind your ear I'd like you to let me know when you can no longer hear the sound and it stopped can you hear it now you I'm now gonna look
inside the ear this will involve me pulling back on the a lobe and then inserting the otoscope into the ear if it's at all uncomfortable do let me know you great will now examine the other ear that's the end of the examination thank you very much today I examine James a 29 year old male on inspection I did not notice any abnormalities on assessment of his hearing there are no gross deficits and tuning fork tests are normal this was a normal exam to complete I would perform a full cranial nerve exam and consider formal audiometry
