[Music] hello English Learners and welcome to English podcasts I'm your host and I'm so excited to be here with you today we're going to explore some powerful daily habits that can help you achieve success in all areas of your life and of course we'll be learning some fantastic English vocabulary along the way joining me today is an expert in personal development how are you doing today I'm doing very well thank you it's a pleasure to be here it's wonderful to have you now let's jump right in our first success habit is one that many successful
people swear by waking up early I have to admit I'm not always an early bird myself but I'm always amazed by people who manag to start their day before the sun even Rises I think what's intriguing about waking up early is that it's not just about gaining extra hours in the day it's about creating a sense of control and intentionality by starting your day on your own terms you set a positive tone for everything that follows that makes a lot of sense it's like you're taking charge of your day right from the beginning and speaking
of starting your day on the right foot many early risers have a consistent morning routine that helps them feel grounded and productive exactly a routine is simply a set of actions you perform regularly especially at a particular time so a morning routine might involve things like drinking water stretching meditating or enjoying a cup of coffee while you plan your day that sounds lovely my morning routine usually involves a bit of a scramble to get out the door but I can definitely see the appeal of a more relaxed and intentional start now what if you want
to be even more productive is there a way to get a jump start on the day even before the routine begins absolutely to get a head start means to begin something earlier than others or before the usual time so imagine waking up at 5:00 a.m. to get a head start on your work you could enjoy a quiet hour of focused work before most people even hit this snooze button wow that's impressive I don't know if I'm quite ready for the 500 a.m. Club but I love the idea of finding ways to be more intentional with
my time even if it's just waking up 15 minutes earlier to enjoy a quiet cup of tea before the day begins what do you think listeners could you benefit from a head start on your day now let's move on to our second habit for Success which is all about tackling that feeling of being overwhelmed we're going to talk about setting priorities that's a crucial one when you have a million things on your to-do list it's easy to feel overwhelmed which means you feel like you have too much to deal with it happens to the best
of us so how can we use priorities to regain a sense of control When Everything feels like it's happening at once well a priority is simply something that is regarded as more important than other things it's like saying my family is my top priority or finishing this project is my main priority right now when you identify your priorities you're essentially making a conscious decision about where to focus your time and energy so it's about making conscious choices about what deserves our attention first instead of letting the day control us we're taking control of the day
now when we do have those important tasks that we need to get done how can we tackle them effectively that's a great word and one I think our listeners might find useful to tackle something means to deal with it in a very determined or energetic way it's like saying I'm going to tackle this pile of laundry before it takes over the entire room or I'm going to tackle that challenging project first thing in the morning when my mind is fresh I love that I'm definitely going to be using tackle in my vocabulary from now on
it's much more Dynamic than just saying do or complete now do you have any specific strategies for tackling those tasks one strategy that many successful people use is time blocking where you allocate specific blocks of time in your schedule for certain tasks for example you might block off an hour in the morning for focused work then 30 minutes for email and so on this helps to prevent distractions and ensures that you make progress on your most important priorities time blocking that's a fantastic tip I've heard a lot about that technique and I can definitely see
how it would help with productivity I think I might have to give it a try myself all right let's shift gears a bit and talk about something that's essential for both our physical and mental well-being regular exercise it can be tough to find the motivation to exercise but the benefits are undeniable absolutely one of the most noticeable benefits is the feeling of being energized after a good workout like your body wakes up and your mind feels sharper I definitely feel that sometimes I drag myself to the gym feeling tired but I always walk out feeling
like I can conquer the world and there's a scientific reason for that feeling isn't there it has something to do with endorphins you got it endorphins are those amazing chemicals our brains release during exercise that act as natural mood boosters and pain relievers so that feeling of euphoria you get after a run that's the endorphins working their magic wow so it's like a built-in reward system for taking care of our bodies that's pretty cool and you know what you don't have to be a marathon runner to reap those benefits even a brisk walk can make
a difference the key is to get moving and break it sweat a few times a week I love that phrase to break a sweat simply means to exert yourself physically until you start perspiring it doesn't have to be an intense gym session it could be a dance class a bike ride a hike in nature or even just a lively game of tag with your kids exactly find an activity you enjoy and get that heart rate up what are some ways you like to break a sweat listeners we'd love to hear your ideas okay ready for
next success habit this one is all about expanding our minds and embracing the joy of learning we're talking about continuous learning I'm passionate about this one continuous learning is all about cultivating a curiosity for the world around us it's that natural desire to explore ask questions and delve deeper into subjects that Fascinate us it's like having a thirst for knowledge that can never be fully quenched I love that analogy and I think it's especially important for language learners after all you're already demonstrating incredible curiosity by embarking on this journey of learning English what are some
things that spark your curiosity listeners what are you eager to learn more about now having that thirst for knowledge is fantastic but sometimes we need the right tools to help us absorb and retain new information that's where mindset comes in absolutely mindset refers to our established set of attitudes or beliefs and it plays a huge role in how we approach learning imagine your brain is like a garden if you have a growth mindset you're constantly cultivating that garden planting new seeds and nurturing them as they grow I love that Visual and with a growth mindset
you're not afraid of making mistakes because you see them as valuable learning opportunities you're not saying I can't do this you're saying I can't do this yet I'm going to keep practicing and learning until I master it exactly and when you approach learning with that kind of open and receptive attitude ude you're able to soak up new information like a sponge that's a great phrase to soak up means to absorb something easily and quickly like a sponge absorbing water it's like you're immersing yourself in the learning process and allowing yourself to be fully present with
the material and that's when true learning magic happens I couldn't agree more so to all of our listeners who are on this English learning journey I applaud your curiosity your dedication and your growth mindset keep so looking up that knowledge okay ready to tackle our next habit for Success this one is all about mastering our time and making the most of every precious moment we're talking about time time management is such an important skill especially in our fast-paced world it's about being intentional with our time and making conscious choices about how we spend it and
I think one of the biggest obstacles to effective time management is procrastination we've being there oh absolutely procrastination is the act of delaying or postponing something typically because it's a task we don't enjoy or find challenging it's like saying I'll clean my room tomorrow or I'll start that project later then tomorrow comes and we find ourselves saying the same thing it's a vicious cycle so how can we break free from the procrastination trap and become more productive being productive means achieving a significant amount or result so instead of putting things off we're active L working
towards our goals and making progress each day I love that and a great way to boost productivity is to make the most of our time this means using our time effectively and in a way that brings us closer to our goals for example instead of mindlessly scrolling through social media you could make the most of your lunch break by reading a few pages of a book listening to an educational podcast or practicing your English conversation skills those are fantastic ideas it's all about making those small conscious choices that add up over time do you have
any tips for making the most of your time listeners we'd love to hear your strategies all right let's move on to a habit that's close to my heart nurturing healthy relationships having strong supportive relationships is so important for our overall well-being I completely agree when we have a strong network of people around us we feel loved supported and connected now when we talk about our Network we're not just talking about our online connections on social social media we're talking about a group of people who are interconnected whether it's through family friendship work or shared interests
exactly and within those networks it's important to cultivate relationships that are supportive this means having people in your life who encourage you believe in you and are there for you through thick and thin supportive friends and family members are like cheer leaders who are always rooting for us to succeed they celebrate our victories with us and they offer comfort and guidance when we Face challenges and sometimes we need to be proactive about seeking that support that's where the phrase reach out comes in handy yes to reach out means to attempt to communicate with someone Often
by extending your hand in a metaphorical sense so if you're struggling with a problem or just need someone to talk to don't be afraid to reach out to a trusted friend family member or a mentor you might be surprised by how much they're willing to help that's such an important reminder sometimes we feel like we have to go through things alone but that's simply not true there are people who care about us and want to see us Thrive what are some ways you can reach out to someone today listeners think about someone who could use
a kind word a listening ear or a helping hand okay ready for our final habit for Success this one is simple yet incredibly powerful practicing gratitudes gratitude is such a transformative practice it's about shifting our Focus from what we lack to what we have instead of dwelling on the negative we are cons ious ly acknowledging the good things in our lives both big and small and that shift in perspective can have a profound impact on our happiness and well-being perspective refers to our point of view or the way we see things when we practice gratitude
we're essentially choosing to see the world through a more positive lens and a great way to cultivate gratitude is to count your blessings this means to take time each day to reflect on the things you're grateful for whether it's your health your family your friends a beautiful sunset a delicious meal or simply the fact that you woke up this morning it's such a simple practice but it can have a ripple effect on your entire life I couldn't agree more what's some things you're grateful for today listeners I encourage you to take a moment to count
your blessings so we've covered a lot of ground today haven't we we've talked about the power of waking up early setting priorities embracing the energy boost of exercise cultivating a love of learning mastering our time nurturing healthy relationships and pract that's a wonderful recap and it's important to remember that these habits are interconnected they build upon each other to create a foundation for a fulfilling and successful life exactly it's not about trying to be perfect or doing everything at once it's about finding small ways to incorporate these habits into your daily routine and celebrate each
step you take towards positive change and don't forget all the wonderful vocabulary we explore today we talked about routines priorities feeling overwhelmed and the incredible power of being energized we've learned about those amazing endorphins the importance of curiosity and mindset and how to be more productive with our time we even tackled the challenge of procrastination and discovered the joy of soaking up new knowledge and of course we explored the importance of building supportive networks and reaching out for help when we need it and we wrapped up our discussion with the transformative practice of gratitude counting
