good oral health is essential for many vital areas of life like eating breathing and speaking but around the world oral health is challenged by many diseases and conditions and there are Stark and persistent inequalities in access to oral health care Dental Care is gum disease those loss and oral cancers are among the most prevalent non-communicable diseases globally affecting almost half of the world's population the good news is that many oral diseases can be prevented and treated with cost-effective interventions but to scale up access to those interventions all countries need sufficient health workers trained in oral
health and oral health services must be included in National Health Coverage packages either free of charge or at a price that people can afford today we are proud to launch the first who Global oral health status report which provides a comprehensive overview of the global burden of oral disease burden the resources available for oral health and the challenges and opportunities to improve it we look forward to supporting countries to use this report to expand the availability affordability and quality of services for oral health I thank you
