for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities against Powers against the rulers of the darkness of this age against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the Heavenly places Paul's words in Ephesians 6:12 are not a call to enter spiritual warfare but an announcement of its reality every Believer by virtue of their faith is engaged engaged in a spiritual battle whether they recognize it or not ignorance or denial of this truth does not negate the conflict it only makes us more vulnerable let us unpack the profound implications of this verse and its application
to our lives today Paul's statement begins with a negation for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood this means that our primary enemies are not human beings while conflicts with people are often visible they are only surface level manifestations of deeper spiritual realities the true battle lies in the Unseen realm where spiritual forces operate to influence individuals societies and systems many Christians make the mistake of directing all their efforts toward fighting people whether it is political opponents cultural adversaries or personal conflicts we often view other humans as the enemy this mindset distracts us from
the real source of the problem as Paul reminds us the true enemy is not flesh and blood but spiritual forces that operate behind the scenes a perfect example of misplaced focus is the intense Division and hatred we have witnessed during elections it is astonishing to see how quickly people even Christians can be consumed by animosity toward those who hold different political views yet yes some ideologies and policies may be deeply flawed even evil however Jesus instructed us to pray for our enemies and love those who persecute us as seen in Matthew 5:44 this command is
not conditional Jesus didn't say to pray for our enemies only if we agree with their views or if their actions align with our sense of justice instead he calls us to embody a higher standard of love one that reflects his own sacrifice on the cross loving those who oppose us is not a sign of weakness but of strength and maturity in faith consider this how many of us prayed for those on the other side during heated political debates how many of us recognized the spiritual forces at work the ideologies and doctrines of devils that seduce
people into believing Lies by focusing solely on the human agents we often fail to address the spiritual battle behind the scene the Bible makes it clear in Ephesians 6:12 that our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers against the authorities against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the Heavenly Realms when we neglect this truth we reduce our faith to a human- centered perspective and lose sight of the broader spiritual warfare at play we argue with people instead of interceding for them we demonize others
rather than confronting the Real Enemy Satan and his schemes this misplaced Focus has serious consequences first it damages our witness as Christians how can we preach the love of Christ while spewing hate toward others second it blinds us to opportunities to share the gospel instead of seeing opponents as potential recipients of God's grace we see them as adversaries to be defeated third it distracts us from the Great Commission Jesus didn't tell us to make disciples of our political party he called us to make disciples of all Nations regardless of their cultural or ideological differences Vision
we experience in politics is just one manifestation of a larger more Insidious strategy of the enemy I only use this division as an example because it is one that is close to home one that we have all experienced recently and witnessed with our own eyes the ageold quote the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he doesn't exist holds profound relevance in standing the spiritual battle Paul describes in Ephesians 6:12 Satan's most effective strategy is to operate in obscurity cloaking his influence and schemes in the guise of mere human conflicts ideologies or
random events by doing so he distracts people from recognizing the true spiritual battle at play and leaves them vulnerable to his deception when people deny the existence of the devil they also dismiss the reality of spiritual warfare this disbelief creates fertile ground for Satan to seow division fear and confusion unchecked he manipulates societies spreads lies through ideologies and fosters hostility among individuals all while remaining unseen even Christians who should know better often fall into this trap by focusing their energy on human opponents rather than interceding in prayer and standing firm against the spiritual forces influencing
the conflict understanding the devil's strategy of invisibility is crucial we must remember that his ultimate goal is not just to create chaos but to blind people to the truth of the Gospel recognizing his existence and tactics is the first step in reclaiming our focus on the true enemy and standing firm in Christ's Victory let us not waste our energy in Endless arguments or hatred instead let us invest in what truly matters sharing the gospel building relationships and advancing God's kingdom as we do this we not only honor Christ but also position ourselves as peacemakers in
a world desperate for reconciliation this is not to say that we should remain passive in the face of evil instead our engagement must be rooted in prayer the word of God and spiritual discernment the weapons of our Warfare are not carnal But Mighty in God for pulling down strongholds Paul provides a detailed description of the spiritual forces we are up against principalities Powers rulers of the darkness of this age spiritual hosts of wickedness in the Heavenly places this hierarchy shows that Satan's kingdom is not chaotic but highly organized each rank has a specific role and
their Collective goal is to oppose God's work and knock Believers down from their place of standing Paul's use of the word wrestle is significant wrestling is a close personal and intense struggle on like battles fought with swords or arrows wrestling involves direct engagement this imagery reminds us that spiritual warfare is not a distant or abstract concept it is a daily personal struggle against Temptation deception and opposition the stakes are high Satan and his forces aim to weaken our faith disrupt our witness and lead us into sin they exploit our weaknesses so doubt and create Division
if we are unaware of their tactics we risk falling into their traps the Christian life is not a playground but a Battle Ground Believers must recognize that they are in a constant spiritual battle against principalities powers and the forces of evil this spiritual battle is not optional it is the reality for every believer whether we acknowledge it or not not we are engaged in a conflict against an organized and unseen enemy the first step in standing firm is recognizing that this battle is real and that it requires Divine strength Paul begins this section of Ephesians
6 by urging Believers to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might Ephesians 610 our strength does not come from our own abilities intellect or determination it is derived from God's power which is made available to us through our relationship with him spiritual battles cannot be fought with human weapons or strategies they require Spiritual armor and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit the armor of God is a vivid and Powerful illustration of how we are equipped to stand firm each piece serves a specific purpose reflecting both the character of God and
the resources he provides for us the belt of Truth reminds us that truth is foundational just as a belt secures a soldier's garments God's truth secures and stabilizes our lives without a commitment to his truth we are vulnerable to deception the breastplate of righteousness protects our hearts it signifies is both the imputed righteousness of Christ which makes us right with God and our pursuit of holy living which guards us from the enemy's accusations the shoes of the gospel of peace equip us to move forward with confidence and Readiness the gospel gives us a firm footing
even in the face of Trials so that we can share God's message of peace with others The Shield of Faith extinguishes the fiery Dart of Doubt fear and Temptation faith is not passive but active trusting in God's promises and his character even when the battle is fierce the helmet of salvation protects our minds ensuring that we remain secure in the hope of our Salvation this assurance guards us from discouragement and despair the sword of the spirit which is the word of God is our offensive weapon the Bible is alive and Powerful capable of exposing lies
defeating Temptation and declaring victory over the enemy when Paul instructs us to put on the whole armor of God he is emphasizing the completeness of our preparation to leave any peace behind is to expose ourselves to the enemy's attacks finally the key to utilizing this armor effectively is prayer Paul urges us to pray always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit Ephesians 6:18 prayer keeps us connected to God sharpens our spiritual discernment and empowers us to stand firm without prayer even the strongest armor is ineffective because it is only through God's power that we
can Prevail understanding the nature of the battle and equipping ourselves with God's armor enables us to stand firm but standing firm is not a passive act it is an active and intentional decision to rely on God's strength walk in obedience and remain Vigilant it is a Daily Commitment to live in the light of Christ's Victory knowing that he has already overcome the world as we Face the struggles and opposition of life let us remember that our ultimate Victory is secure in Christ the forces of Darkness may be strong but our God is stronger the battle
may be fierce but the war has already been won therefore let us put on the full armor of God stand firm in his power and remain steadfast in the faith knowing that he who called us is faithful and will complete the work he began in Us 2 Timothy 3: 1 to 5 this know also that in the last days perilous times shall come for men shall be lovers of their own selves Covetous boasters proud blasphemers disobedient to parents unthankful Unholy without natural affection truce Breakers false accusers incontinent Fierce despisers of those that are good traitors
heady high-minded lovers of Pleasures more than lovers of God having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof from such turn away we live in a world where people think it's all about them a world where people think that they are the main character in the movie and the rest of the 8 billion people on this Earth are supporting cast members me me I and me selfishness what I want matters selfishness what I need matter above the good of everyone else selfishness is at the root of a considerable number of our sins when Satan
exalted himself and said I will I will I will I will yes it was Pride but pride and selfishness always go together selfishness is at the root of all of the world's problems all the hunger you see in the world is because of selfishness selfishness is at the root of all the unfaithfulness in marriages why be faithful to my spouse when I can have another that is selfishness why should I deny my lustful desires and stay faithful when I can have another that is selfishness adultery at its very core is selfish it is putting your
lustful desires above the commitment you made to your spouse and above your children and most importantly above almighty God fall out of love with your lust fall out of love with your sins fall out of love with yourself and fall in love with your family fall in love with your kids fall into love with the Lord God Almighty refuse to be a selfish husband or a selfish wife you are not right all the time just as much as your spouse is not right all the time I have counseled many married couples over the years and
one thing I have come to realize is this in marriages people tend to see what the other person does wrong people tend to easily identify their spouses weaknesses or mistakes or wrongdoings however they find it difficult to see their own mistakes shortcomings failures and wrongdoings I don't know what it is about us human beings but it is as if our our sin nature and our selfishness gives us a selective perspective we see everything that is wrong with everyone else but nothing that is wrong with ourselves allow me to be the first to tell you wies
I need you all to listen to me your husband is not always wrong he is not always the problem sometimes you are wrong you both are the problem husbands I need you all to listen to me your wife is not always wrong she is not always the problem sometimes you are wrong and you are the problem this issue of selfishness is something that we all need to deal with I need to deal with this problem of selfishness you need to deal with this issue of selfishness this issue of selfishness is prevalent in every aspect of
our modern-day civilization it's prevalent in our marriages it's prevalent in our relationships it's prevalent in our family it's prevalent in our culture it's prevalent in every aspect of Our Lives second Timothy 3 for men shall be lovers of their own selves we live in a world where people think it's all about them a world where people think that they are the main character in the movie and the rest of the 8 billion people on this Earth are supporting C P members I want to share with you two things two things that really really humbled me
two things that really brought me down to earth to realize it really is not just about me the sea it's very strange to think that the sea the sea can humble a person but I remember watching a compilation video of ship at Sea and just looking at how big the sea is and the simple fact that if I was there in the sea and something was to go wrong there is literally nothing I can do we as humans attempt to paint the picture as if we are in control of everything but really and truly not
a single one of us are in control of anything it really amazed me to see the size of the oceans and how large and terrifying the oceans can be and yet God has the power to control the oceans look at the size of the ocean the roar power and uncontrollable nature of the ocean life goes on after you die the harsh reality is that life goes on after a person dies sitting presidents have died and yet the country moved on Apple's founder Steve Jobs died and yet the company he created is still here and that's
one thing I realized when you die the world will continue on as usual no one is going to stop living on Earth if you die the world will keep ticking on the world was here before I was here and the world will still be here long after I am gone that is humbling these two things really humbled me to realize everything really and truly is not about me 2 Timothy 3 tells us that before the coming of the Lord Jesus people will change for men shall be lovers of their own selves the reason why inequality
exists is not because of capitalism or socialism it is because of selfishness the reason why wars exist is not because this group of people are bad and this group of people are good no it is selfishness and we are told that before the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ selfishness will take over the world people will worship at the altar of self more and more there are many Bible verses that talk about selfishness and the reason why we should never be selfish in this world today people are selfish about everything what they say is that
they are minding their own businesses when you see people who are in need and you refuse to do anything to help them even when you have an abundance you are not minding your own business you are just being selfish it is not the nature of God to be selfish and if you are a child of God you should never allow selfishness in your life a child of God cannot by Nature be selfish look at the contrast here Matthew 25: 31-44 when the son of man comes in his glory and all the Holy Angels with him
then he will sit on the throne of his glory all the nations will be gathered before him and he will separate them one from another as a Shepherd divides his sheep from the goats and he will set the sheep on his right hand but the goats on the left then the king will say to those on his right hand come you blessed of my father inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world for I was hungry and you gave me food I was thirsty and you gave me drink I was a
stranger and you took me in I was naked and you clothed me I was sick and you visited me I was in prison and you came to me then the righteous will answer him saying Lord when did we see you hungry and feed you or thirsty and give you drink when did we see you a stranger and take you in or naked and clothe you or when did we see you sick or in prison and come to you and the King will answer and say to them assuredly I say to you in as much as
you did it to one of the least of these my brethren you did it to me then he will also say to those on the left hand depart from me you cursed into the Everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels for I was hungry and you gave me no food I was thirsty and you gave me no drink I was a stranger and you did not take me in naked and you did not clothe me sick and in prison and you did not visit me then they also will answer him saying Lord when
did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and did not minister to you as we read further in this parable we find that the Sheep are those who care for the needs of others the goats live only for themselves stop living only for yourself selfishness blinds us to the needs of others but love opens our eyes God wants us to care for others even as we care for ourselves
