yo what's up everybody AEM here and in today's fix of entertainment news we've got news on the upcoming HBO Harry Potter live action series and one actor gives us more details on the now canell Channing Tatum Gambit film let's drop [Music] it presented by Universal Orlando resort and its new theme park Universal epic Universe actor John lith gal confirmed in an exclusive interview with Screen Rant that he will indeed be playing Dumbledore in HBO's Harry Potter series on how this came to be and his immediate thoughts on the role Lithgow said quote it came as
a total surprise to me I just got the phone call up at the Sundance Film Festival for yet another film and it was not an easy decision because it's going to Define me for the last chapter of my life I'm afraido at the age of 79 he'll be the oldest actor to step into the witing role of Dumbledore made famous on the big screen by actors Richard Harris and then later by Michael gamman rip to both those legendary actors now Franchesca Gardner is reportedly showrunner for the series working alongside Harry Potter Creator JK Rowley now
HBO chairman and CEO Casey blo said previously that he envisions the series going for 10 consecutive years which sounds quite ambitious and like you know they're banking on this series being a money maker for years to come but as anyone who's read the books will tell you there's plenty of material that was cut for time in the film adaptations now the Harry Potter series is in fact one of WB discovery's top IP so it's more than possible for it to go on strong for decades or just one in this particular instance on the small screen
but that also means John Lithgow will be well into his 80s less than half into its Run quote that's why it's been such a hard decision I'll be about 87 years old at the rap party but I've said yes that's an optimistic Outlook and while ligal seems to be in good health he's also almost a decade older than the late Richard Harris was when he took the role for the first two Harry Potter movies sadly Chamber of Secrets would be his final film role period and Michael gambin would take over for the third movie onward
now definitely a hard decision in quite the commitment to make at this point in his career but I think fans are more than excited to see the magic play out on the screen big or small now the series as of reporting is slated to begin filming this summer with expectations of premiering either sometime in 2026 or 2027 according to HBO CEO and these are all tenative so we'll keep you posted on any official dates all right moving right along speaking to Business Insider Lizzie Kaplan spoke on what her role was going to be and Fox's
now act solo Gambit film that the Channing Tatum Le X-Men spin-off was apparently going to have undertones of a romantic comedy with Kaplan as the main love interest quote we got down the road we were going to shoot it I think there was a start day we had a director then we didn't but I had multiple meetings with Channing and the other producers they wanted to do like a 30s kind of screw ball romantic comedy set in that world which would have been really fun what is a 30s kind of screw ball romantic comedy I
don't know what that is does she mean 1930s or does she mean like they're going to be in their 30s I have no clue anyways the film was eventually asked after Disney officially purchased fox in 2019 now chatting Tatum spoke with variety of few years back on how the whole process affected him and how sad and defeated he felt after working on getting the project off the ground for several years after finally getting to Dawn the magenta Spandex and leather trench coat in for a surprise role in Deadpool and ruine I think we can all
