[Music] this $6.7 billion US Bridge is a symbol of China's Ambitions it is a 24 km Bridge with eight lines wide and featuring artificial islands and an undersea tunnel the project aims to enhance connectivity and economic integration within one of China's most dynamic economic regions the shinen Chung Bridge is a remarkable example of modern engineering and infrastructure development [Music] we are right now at one of the most important and impressive projects in southern China this is the shinten ton [Music] Bridge the length of the bridge is 24 km and is connecting two important cities in
guon Province Shenzhen a technological Hub in southern China and chonan a manufacturing center The shinen Junction Bridge demonstrates China's ability to undertake and complete largescale and complex infrastructure projects setting benchmarks for future projects worldwide it supports National strategies for economic development urbanization and technological advancements [Music] China is no stranger to these kind of massive Mega projects actually in 2018 just opened the longest sea crossing bridge the Hong Kong chuai maau bridge and now they're opening another massive Bridge the bridge spans approximately 24 km making of it one of the longest bridges in the whole world
and it includes a combination of bridges tunnels and artificial Islands to facilitate seamless transportation [Music] one of the main purposes of this kind of project is to bring together and improve connectivity between cities the greater Bay Area is one of the largest clusters in southern China and now Mobility between shinen and chonan will be improved thanks to this bridge the construction includes the creation of two artificial Islands to support the bridge and tunnel transitions these islands are crucial for the structural integrity and functionality of the corridor [Music] this project is actually very interesting it represented
a big challenge for modern engineering actually we are right now standing in one of the artificial islands that is part of this big project behind me we have the bridge that is converting into a tunnel through this part of this island land where it goes underneath allowing ships to G over and cross to the other side the bridge consists of two main sections the bridge part and the immersed tunnel section this tunnel is approximately 6.8 km long making it one of the longest and deepest immersed tunnels globally the immersed Tunnel construction involving large prefabricated sections
placed on the seabed showcases Advanced underwater construction techniques for [Music] we can see behind me shinen airport and several buildings are part of the city that is really incredible to get to see that City from this part of the river like its sister bridge in Hong Kong when the Shenzhen Chun Bridge opens to the traffic it will form a central plank in China's master plan to develop its greater Bay Area one of the world's largest and most populated urban areas in into an economic and technological Hub that can rival San Francisco New York or Tokyo
this Mega project is also looking forward to cutting traveling time between the two cities from 2 hours to only 30 [Music] minutes the construction of this bridge started in May of 2017 and today June 2024 is about to open meaning the construction took around 7 years to be completed the shenen chonan bridge is impressive not just because of its size and Engineering complexity but also due to its economic social and strategic significance it represents a landmark achievement in modern infrastructure embodying technological innovation sustainable practices and a vision for regional development and integration one of the
main purposes of this big project is bring closer all the cities from the greater Bay Area we're talking about Hong Kong maau chuhai chonan shenen guano and several other cities that are part of this Bay Area the greater Bay Area is home to 68 million people and includes 11 cities Hong Kong maau and nine other including chonan and Shenzhen Shenzhen is home to more than 12 million people not to mention scores of multi-billion dollar films such as drone maker DJI and social media company t s that have helped to earn the city the nickname of
China's Silicon Valley when it comes to infrastructure shenen is an amazing place right now we are in the point of this bridge that is actually reaching the site of shenzen we get to see one of the subway lines that is connecting fuan District to ban district and on the other side we have Shenzhen airport so as you can see this city is a very well connected Metropolis here in southern China and this bridge would actually improve that connectivity in the next few days when it opens to the public the bridge is part of a broader
effort to create a 1hour living Circle within the greater Bay Area making it easy for its residents to live work and play within an hours travel from major [Music] cities we are right now in the tunnel that is right underneath the sea so there are about 20 M of water above us covering the whole tunnel this is actually the point that is closer to Shenzhen it's quite impressive to see this huge structure that is actually hasn't open yet to the public it will open in a few days and right now we're kind of having exclusive
access to check out the quality of the structure and how every detail is definitely ready to receive people connecting from one city to the other [Music] Shenzhen is more connected than ever actually the city is quite big but now thanks to all this infrastructure that is connecting the whole city you can move way faster actually here you can see different points of the city that you can have access from this point pan ban airport and at Shanghai one of the biggest projects right now under development in sh so actually you can see this bridge takes
you to several places of [Music] Shenzhen this download also has the latest Technologies when it comes to security cameras actually behind me there is a camera that can move all around this tunnel so it's not like typical cameras that will be place in just one spot of the tunnel so it can actually move throughout the whole tunnel in case there's kind of incident or accident at some point he can just move to that to monitor in real time what is going on and give the information to the authorities to move faster and know what is
going on in that place I think that is really clever [Music] it is really incredible to see the level of development of Chinese infrastructure during the last few years the authorities are putting a big effort to invest big amounts of money into this kind of project we're talking about bridges tunnels we're talking about high-speed Railway we're talking about subway stations we're talking about airports all around China this is happening and this bridge is a testimony of this amazing transformation that China is going through the shinen Chan Bridge is a remarkable example of motor engineering and
infrastructure development it shears scale Innovative design and potential impact on Regional connectivity and economic growth making of it a significant [Music] project now listen up let's see the whole picture this bridge or this project is just a small portion of the big plan actually if we check out the surrounding areas we get to see a lot of different projects taking place right now like these man-made Island behind me and other projects like those big stadiums behind me are all these kind of infrastructure projects that China is building right now to guarantee better options for entertainment
