You will receive power to become witnesses. Where? Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Unfortunately, in the first seven chapters of the book of Acts, the disciples never left Jerusalem. Acts 1:8, probably the most quoted verse in this entire conference, says, But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you And you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. The word "power" in Greek is "dunamis," which means miraculous power.
It means mighty works. How many of you here are filled with the Holy Spirit of God? Guys, this is not a religious question.
Some of you are filled with God's Spirit. You just need to discover the mighty works and the miraculous power that is resonant within you! To become witnesses.
Where? Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, to the ends of the earth. Unfortunately, in the first seven chapters of the book of Acts, the disciples never left Jerusalem, even after the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Unless there is intentionality, unless there's action to our faith, you can be filled with the Holy Spirit all you can, and bask there, and sit there and the world's not gonna change. You have to go like this. Make one step.
Romans 10:13 says, For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. " But how can they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?
And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? From the Greek word "apostello," which literally means to send out properly on a mission.
The idea of apostello applies to all. Whether you're full-time or not, we start where we are. Start with your Jerusalem.
You know what your Jerusalem is, guys? That's your families. Start with your brothers, your sisters, your mom, your dad.
Your neighbors, your friends. Start with your campus. And then we progress.
Not only from our Jerusalem, but from our Judea. Maybe relatives from your province back home. Maybe these are your friends that have gone overseas or have gone to another place.
These are your neighbors. We are always surrounded by people who don't know the Lord and don't have a relationship with God. Your family, your offices, your workplaces.
This is your mission field. I was so inspired about a particular girl. Rode the LRT.
And as she was sitting, she saw a father and a son crippled. At first she was just praying silently. But the Lord compelled her to go.
She prayed, and she was crying. She said it was like a movie scene. Then she stepped out in faith.
There's no telling the miracles that will happen if we only take a step of faith. Don't ever cower down or feel intimidated. Because at the end of the day, it's not about your strength, it's not about our human talents and abilities; it is about the power of God working through humble and available people who let themselves be mightily used by God.
Only through God's Spirit and God's power will anything of lasting value be accomplished. That's why we need to walk in step with the Spirit every single day of our lives. Acts 2:17, God promised in the last days, I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh.
If God has poured out His Spirit, do you really believe that we can change the world? Can this vision really become a reality? I believe the answer to this question is a resounding YES!
That validates that God has the life-changing and the world-changing power. Amen? Make an impact in the world.
As what Apostle Paul said to Timothy, In the presence of our Father and of the Lord Jesus Christ, I charge you to go and preach the Word. And today I say, after hearing Dr Jun preach that powerful sermon, I say to you today after listening to this, I charge you to go and preach the Word. Preach the gospel to every person you meet, whether they may be people in your Jerusalem, in your family, maybe people in your Judea, in the neighborhood, in your Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
God bless you as you fulfill God's call in your life.
