I'm going to give you everything you need to know from this starting screen to the most intense battle that you can take on in Pokemon TCG pocket come along with me for a complete beginner's guide there's going to be a ton in this video so I will have timestamps for each section hopefully I answer any question you have about pocket and I do have a big tip for you at the end this will be littered with great tips but at the end I have what I think is the best tip I know it's a little
hook to get you to stay around but I mean can you blame me it's also a really good tip so let's get get into it thanks for joining me everybody this will be my new account new spral and a good thing to mention is you can reroll your accounts we will be talking about this to try to get some of the best cards early and in doing so you will not need to pick a new name every time you can pick the same name over and Over again I know some people are worried about that
as crazy as it sounds your first booster pack actually means a lot in TCG pocket let me get into it here with you really quick because this will essentially be picking an ex Pokemon for you and a starter Pokemon so which first pack should you choose if you pick Charizard you will get exeggutor EX and a Charmander full art from your first Wonder pick if you pick Pikachu you will get Arcanine ex and a Full art Squirtle my absolute favorite Pokemon and if you pick Mewtwo you will get Marowak ex and Bulbasaur you will also
get three different beginner Decks that they give you if you pick the Charizard pack you get a beginner pincer deck while Pikachu will give you a rapid Ash deck and Mewtwo will give you a sand slash deck it feels like Charizard and Mewtwo combo best with the beginner deck they give you because you get exeggutor with Charmander and you get the Marowak With Mewtwo but really this is just based on your personal preference you're not going to base your entire decision on the game on this however if there's one you really want I would go
for it early I would say meta wise both Marowak and exeggutor are better than Arcanine Arcanine doesn't seem to be as good but again these are just beginner decisions that you'll make for this video I will pick Mewtwo your first pack is going to be set up exactly this way to give you Marowak ex when you pick this you will get this every time and you will get the Wonder pick every time I'll show you that here in a minute we'll talk more about packs and wonder picks as well fun thing is many different times
in the game you can fan your cards whether you're opening packs or registering them to your Pokedex every time you get a new card that you don't yet have in a set this first set being genetic Apex you will register them to your decks go and Swipe up and start filling that out there are bonuses you get for accumulating a number of cards as well as bonuses you get for completing specific sections in genetic Apex as well as acquiring the entire base collection many different cards have different effects so a four Diamond Card right here
has what's called a parallax effect or when you move it around you can see different parts of the image pop out there are of course some really cool Cards that I'm sure you've probably seen there are your onear two two star three star rare cards as well as your crown rare cards each one having different effects once your pack stamina recovers you will be able to open a booster pack you can choose one of any of the three available booster packs here in genetic Apex there will be more sets coming but for now we have
these three packs and they do offer different Pokemon inside each one as well as a base set of Pokemon that are in all of the packs you are able to choose any pack you want out of the packs listed there is no difference the packs that you can find in fact sometimes a pack will be reversed like this which you can open from behind you also can flip any of the packs right here over so that you could do that there's no indication as to what kind of Rarity any of these packs will be however
they are all different packs they all have different cards inside Them that are generated the moment you go to open a pack really just do whatever your heart desires scroll through stop on a pack and go ahead and open it up you can open a pack from left to right or right to left and once you begin opening a pack you can once again fan your cards to see what's there it also can be a little anticlimactic so I don't often fan my cards but sometimes it's fun to Fan them over and see that you
have something fun Coming by opening cards you will increase your level you saw that go up at the top of the screen you also will get yourself pack points we'll talk more about pack points in a bit above each of the packs you will be able to see a lot of the cards not all but a lot of the exclusive cards that are in that set so if you're looking for things like like Dragonite Mewtwo gavor they're going to be in Mewtwo if you're looking for things like Charizard Lapras exeggutor They're going to be sitting
inside Charizard for Pikachu you've got things like Pikachu EX Blastoise Wigglytuff Brock lots of great cards in each set and I'll have a separate video going over which set to pick in fact I've kind of got one right now and I'd like to make one for a lot of the beginning players in general if there's a specific line of cards that you're most interested in I would focus on those packs until you are able to get a decent Amount of them and then start spreading out if you want to complete your collection you would pick
a variety of packs but early on it's probably good to focus on one so that you can get a deck that you like as I said you may encounter packs that are flipped over in here they don't make a difference but it is cool they show you all the types that are available in this set you open it from behind and then you pull your cards in reverse order which is fun and you Kind of can't really fan them out the same way you can kind of do that as your cards flip over nice Pekins
Frost moth love Frost moth venette SN oo we're building the frost moth deck everybody as the game tells you pack hourglasses will lower the cooldown of you opening packs each one lowers it by 1 hour so 12 of them gives you a pack 120 of them would let you open 10 packs at once which is a cool thing to do but doesn't change the likelihood of you getting Rare cards in any way at all it's just a fun way to open packs you unlock pack hourglasses in a bunch of different ways one of the easiest
ones is leveling up early in the game which is why resetting an account is such a popular thing when you first start playing we'll get into it here in a sec after we talk about collecting pack hour glasses to open packs as well as Wonder hourglasses can be exchanged for your shop tickets in the shop you'll get a lot of those Through playing there's also a premium shop that is connected to the premium pass you get a two-e trial right when you start for free if you would like to do that which lets you open
a additional packs every single day one additional pack every single day as well as get a really cool collector Pikachu card and some of these pack hour glasses and wonder glasses while you are collecting cards you will get different infog Graphics that pop up and give you fun Little facts as you are completing your collection after opening packs you can view your collection down here when you look at your cards you're able to scroll down and see all of the cards you have not only all of the cards you have but also how many of
them you have you can sort this list by a bunch of different ways Rarity type the the amount of cards you have you could see how many of something you've got sorting your duplicates in this fashion will give you An idea of like oh okay I have multiple Frost moths multiple woats things like that if you're looking to obtain flare on those cards or possibly trade which is coming in the future you also are able to sort it in a reverse order if you're looking for cards that you don't yet have duplicates of and then
you can figure out where you need to get them every single card when you click on it you are able to see where you can obtain this card so I Ivysaur is pulled from The genetic Apex Mewtwo Line If you're looking for more Ivysaur that's where to get it there are also cards like this Ponyta here that just say genetic Apex that means no matter which pack you are opening you have a chance to pull Pony to you can pinch or you can kind of whoop do this with your fingers so you can make it
bigger you can do woo woo so that you can see all of your cards easier or you can sort of expand to see the cards closer up clicking this little Button below decks right here will show you all the cards you do not yet have you could scroll down to it and say hm where do I get whatever this card is oh this card is going to be regular one Diamond Pikachu and it tells you you will find that in genetic Apex Pikachu this is a great way to look through your collection and go all
right I know what I want or maybe I don't even know what the next card here is going to be what is it and where can I get it let's talk A little bit about pack points while we're talking about collecting cards here so pack points are what you get for opening packs you get five pack points every time time you open a pack regardless of whether you get a card you have or don't have you get five points every time you can exchange them for any card in this particular set once a new set
comes out you'll be unlocking pack points for that set so nothing you save from genetic Apex will move over you can Scroll all the way through this see every card in the game and see the most rare things like let's say that you really really wanted this particular Pikachu EX card you would be able to get it if you used your pack points here 1,50 points also if you wanted the absolute most rare cards in the pack like the immersive Charizard Pikachu Mewtwo or the crown rare the even more rare Charizard Pikachu and Mewtwo you
could exchange pack points for it you Would need 2500 pack points to get one of these Crown rares so you're going to need to decide do you want to save your pack points for getting the most rare cards in the game or do you want to use them to complete your collection me personally I would save them for really rare cards that you want but I also understand someone's thought process where they're going no I just really want Greninja so I can make a Greninja deck and I want to complete my Collection I'm going to
spend my pack points there it's worth noting that you have a Max pack points of 2500 so it's not like you can save up and then make some decisions I got to 2500 on my main account and at some point I decided that I was going to use them to get Crown rare Charizard I already had Pikachu and I thought I really would like to unlock that card once you have that you are at your Max and you're not generating any new points so you might as well use it At that point as you're looking
at packs right here you can see pulling a regular pack has a 99.95% probability and pulling a rare pack has a 0.5% probability a rare pack is also known as a God pack in the community God packs look a little like this a God pack is going to have a rare card in every single slot in fact some people have had insane God packs with multiple Crown rares inside them I personally have Never pulled a God pack I'm very sad about it but if you get one I mean you're in for a very wonderful time
because you're about to pull five insanely rare cards you could see what you could get out of a rare pack here if you were pulling a Mewtwo pack you could get Crown rare Mewtwo Mewtwo EX immersive Venus or Articuno genger you get all these different cards and the lowest Rarity you can get is a one star in a God pack again extremely unlikely But insanely cool when it happens one interesting thing to note no matter the pack you pick you still could get a crown rare Char Pika or Mewtwo in a nonod pack version of
that pack it's very unlikely but you can pull them I have pulled both a Pikachu EX and Mewtwo EX Crown rare in a regular pack these specific immersive cards like the immersive mewt ex the immersive Pika the immersive Char these are specific to their packs so if you want that Immersive Pikachu if you want that immersive Char you need to be pulling those packs you also of course through these offering rates can see what is inside these packs if you're looking for Marowak ex this is where you're going to be looking at the bottom right
here there's the option to select other booster packs and there are some coming we know some dates on some of the packs that are coming to the game but we don't know what they are yet for now Everything is genetic Apex our first expansion oh nice I pulled Articuno ex one of the cheesiest cards in the game we got something [Music] good Machamp e that sound you heard at the start of opening that pack that means there's something in there there are a few indicators that there's something good in there that little sound is an
indicator that something's in your pack this is how Many packs you open when you start one thing you'll notice is I had no stars no sounds on this one but you could see if I fan my cards we've got a few rare things back there so we're going to have to find out what we got a Moltres e great for fire decks and a Machamp EX great for Machamp deck leveling up not only will unlock new things in the game like right when you start unlocking Wonder picks and unlocking battles and binders and things Like
that but it will also give you valuable rewards to let you unlock more packs the first Wonder pick you do will guarantee that you get that Full Art card no matter where you go you will pull that full art right so I picked the Mewtwo therefore I get this Bulbasaur every time as you can see in the game there are also special kinds of Wonder picks that can aair the chancy pick the rare pick the bonus pick in the chansy pick you will have the opportunity to Get chansy at a low cost and every time
you pick a Meowth it will turn into a chy next time you come back to it the rare pick has an opportunity to give you a ton of different rare rare cards which is really nice so you kind of get a almost guaranteed rare card and then the bonus pick will come at no cost and will get you just a nice reward for logging in and checking out your Wonder picks as you scroll through the Wonder pick section you will find people that are Your friends people that are not your friends you will find random
accounts you could find someone playing the game in a different language which I think is really cool you could scroll by one of the Wonder picks and you would notice that oh actually this person is playing from Japan so you'll be able to pull all of the Wonder picks in there and the C cards you get will actually be in Japanese which I think is very fun under each Wonder pick it will tell you the Cost to wonder pick it so if you look at this the cost here is one that is because the highest
Rarity card in there is a two Diamond if you find a Wonder pick with a higher Rarity card it will cost you more for instance we have a four Diamond Blastoise EX in here that will cost you three whereas finding a Wonder pick like this with a three Diamond inside will cost you two in general you want to at least at least do a Wonder pick a day that way your Wonder Pick timer is recharging otherwise you just have these little Wonder pick Hearts build up and you can't use them for anything as you look
through your Wonder picks there's a nice little indicator next to a card you can see Golduck right there we have Golduck so it shows that it is in our decks already in the bottom leftand corner of Golduck right there or if you scroll down to this person's genetic uh Apex Pikachu pack you could see we don't have a Single card so anything we pull from that will add to our Pokedex you also can of course be hunting for specific cards but you've got a one in five shot of finding the card and there is no
way to give yourself better odds I do not believe there will ever be a chance for you to get a three star or a crown rare card in a Wonder pick wonder pick stamina is generating the same way that your pack stamina does you get one point every 12 hours you are also able to use Poke gold which I don't think anyone would want to do and wonder hourglasses to recharge your stamina I would probably chill on this at the start of the game do a Wonder pick here or there and then later if there's
something you really want you can use some of your Wonder pick stamina to grab it you will notice as you're scrolling through your Wonder picks some of them will be down here and they will be expired you can use a rewind watch to actually pull this Out from being expired and have an opportunity to pick at it again that being said it's again still a lottery so even if you find one with the perfect Blastoise EX card that you've been looking for it's very possible that you would not get it even if you were able
to use the Wonder pick I haven't used this rewind function too much but hey if there's something cool there go for it when it's time to wonder pick they shuffle them up and you get to pick your Card I've always found that bottom left is the worst and I pick it every time I'm superstitious like that when you underp pick the card is added to your collection not taken away from the person who picked it it's just a fun way for you to generate extra cards and every once in a while you get get pretty
lucky as I talked about a little earlier there will be special missions for Wonder pick and special Wonder pick events so I would always have a little Stamina on Deck just seeing what those are looking like for the week or whatever that rotation is going to be I'll talk about more stuff like that on this channel as they start getting added into the game but in general Wonder pick is just kind of a fun system you might get something cool you might not every once in a while I pull a really cool card from it
and a lot of the time you just get not what you were looking for after Wonder picking you could send this Person a friend request to add them to your friends list or you could send them a thanks I recommend just sending a thanks to everyone for everything they get extra shot points people will send thanks to you just make the world a better place and send the thanks around as you are battling or as people are checking out some of your collections people will give you thanks you will use these thanks to get shop
tickets this is why I just give everyone a thanks I Battle everyone a thanks I wonder pick spread the love around give everybody something to unlock let's talk about missions there are a ton of different missions that are going to pop up in the game we have beginner daily decks deck premium missions we also have missions that will be event based that are not in the game currently for deck missions these are going to give you rental decks if you get the Chase card in that rental deck in this particular one it was Pikachu EX
they will let you use this rental deck for a short period of time in your battles for the decks section this is specific to genetic Apex the set that we are in the more you get the more of these emblem tickets you are able to unlock you use the emblem ticket tickets in the shop to unlock these guys right here wake up you little shop to unlock these emblems right here they're just a nice way to customize your account the beginner missions are some of your best Missions not only do they give you a ton
of packs to open by completing them you will also get this Wonder pick stamina as well which is really nice just helping you build up your collection early don't get too used to it though because they do start to pull back on some of this stuff when you start there are a bunch of missions in the beginner section that will give you a ton of additional hourglasses now as you're seeing this you can see 24-hour glasses For getting to level three 24 for opening four booster packs doing a Wonder pick you get 24 24 for
doing a solo battle collecting cards Etc you get a ton of hourglasses from doing this this is a huge amount of cards that you will open early bigger than any moment in the game without you spending real money this is why many players decide to reset their account after they go through a few of their beginner missions because they'll decide whether or not They liked some of the cards they pulled now again those early cards that you get are locked in But after those first couple things where you get the EX card and you get
the Wonder pick full art you are playing inside the games luck you could pull a crown rare Pikachu in the first pack after that every day you will be able to do your daily missions you complete them and you will be able to unlock your hourglasses for the day there are a lot of easy ways to complete This you could literally log in open one pack do a Wonder pick and you are done for the day you also could log in Wonder pick go to participate in a battle immediately concede and then you're done for
the day super simple do your daily missions and you will get yourself some extra hourglasses easy peasy the advanced missions tab will give you a lot of different things in the game to check out by completing this you will unlock shine dust as well as more pack Hourglasses so just go through it register a friend by sending a friend request to someone that you wonder pick with uh edit a deck send a thanks apply card sleeves apply a playmat we'll talk about all of the different ways that you can customize your account send five thanks
you should be sending thanks in general but just go through here complete all of these so that you can unlock more ways to open packs and customize your account if you have the Premium pass you will have premium missions that will give you the opportunity to use your premium tickets in the shop right now in the shop during the soft launch there isn't a ton to get in here you will be able to pick up this Pikachu as well as some of these items but this will get updated as the game continues giving players that
spend money in this game new things to buy so through all of our beginner missions doing the battle Mission as well as just Opening packs we've opened a bunch of packs early in the game in fact we've opened 20 packs the reason a lot of people decide whether or not to reset their account at this point is because you will not open 20 packs for a little while right if you were playing this game completely free to play that will take you 10 days to open those packs just using the in-game version of resetting the
packs through the timer so if you are looking to get a great Collection early this is the point where I would say consider resetting your account if you want nothing to do with that fair enough move on let's talk a little bit about resetting right now one thing you're going to want to try to do is decide whether or not you got what you were looking for out of those first 20 packs again resetting the account does not take long you'll probably be able to cruise through these missions and everything you need to do in
about 15 20 minutes so if you really don't like your first draw in the game you can give it another shot I know a lot of people spend a few hours when they first start the game just seeing if they can get a good reset I have to be honest looking at my cards right here I think we got a pretty bad start we did not get a lot of what I would be looking for however we got moles we got Pikachu EX we have a decent art Machamp but a lot of people would reset
until they got Maybe one of the immersives that they we're trying to pull it's all going to be fully based on personal preference but this is the moment where I would consider resetting your account outside of this if you've been playing for a week already by the time you've seen this video I wouldn't stress too much about it at that point if you do want to reset it's pretty simple you will head into the settings you will head on over to other you will then scroll down to Account and you will click delete save data
a couple things to keep in mind with resetting don't link your Nintendo account Google account or anything anything like that until you have an account that you want to actually use you could reset a few times once you get a few things that you want I would stick with it I don't think you need to obsessively reset to get the absolute best start possible but if you're looking for something like Mewtwo EX Yeah reset your account until you get a few of the cards that you want and then go from there it's your account so
let's talk about shine dust Cosmetics flares for your cards now I'm sure that while you've been playing or even playing against you know the computer you've seen different Cosmetics on cards right these are called flares so to obtain a flare you're going to need a few things you're going to need a decent amount of shine dust which you will get by Completing missions and opening packs basically just going through the regular motions of the game you will unlock shine dust as you are opening packs and as you are playing you will also need duplicates of
cards so taking a look at this Doo right here I've got 48 of them from opening cards so we'll be able to use something like this to obtain some flare however if I was looking at something I didn't have a duplicate of like this really beautiful rapid Ash and I wanted to put some cool looking flare on it I couldn't because I only have one Rapidash and to get flare put on it not only do I need the shine dust number necessary I also need an extra card so you need at least three cards to
be able to obtain flare for something they will not let you go under two because you can have two of a specific card in a deck I'm guessing this is also how trading is going to work in the game but for now this is how how you were able to obtain Flare I can't do anything on this rapid Ash but I've got a bunch of these sandrew so I'd like to obtain some flare for it let's say I love sandrew I actually really like a sand slash deck I obtain my flare right here and I
only have this one option now there are a few things to notice about this option and to notice about what happens when you get this flare I will exchange right here to get this gold cosmetic flare I want you to notice the word cosmetic There right next to the flare you can see what it does here I will have these sparkles on my sandrew when I'm looking at it it is a cosmetic flare meaning I will be able to see this when I'm just looking at my cards this is different from Battle flare this being
a basic card it's asking for three sand shrews and for the amount of shine dust I will give it to them and I will unlock this cosmetic that I can put on any of my sandrew cards this cool little moment Right here there we go now you'll notice something interesting on some of the low Rarity cards you have to unlock multiple versions of their flare before it lets you unlock some of the other ones you're looking for so if I would like to unlock this one right here the fighting energy flare cosmetic or I would
like to unlock this one right here the diamond flare cosmetic I would need to unlock this guy first the small Stars flare yellow in Battle now this is what's important you'll notice this card is doing nothing right now until it drops itself into battle when it drops into battle it would have this cool flare effect but the rest of the time it wouldn't a cosmetic flare would be on all the time regardless of if it's in battle or not or it's landing on the board or not however the battle flare only shows up when being
used in battle so let's say I want to keep going I'm going to exchange Some more of my sandrew some more of my shine dust because I really want to get this small stars yellow for battle beautiful and again we unlock the next level of this this is kind of what you're doing with some of the earlier flare cards in the game as you start to get into your more rare cards you will notice that they don't have the same requirements so let's scroll down to something a little more rare that I have a few
duplicates of in case I wanted to Get some cool flare on it like okay yeah how many of these charmanders do I got right here I got five of them if I look to obtain flare on this I actually have have the option to pick any of these here I don't need to buy one of them first to unlock them I think they recognize that while it you could imagine a reality where people would have to sacrifice multiple cards it's a little cringe to have to sacrifice multiple full art cards to pick the Flare that
you want still notice like something like this Flames flare is a battle and a lot of these actually are battle for some of the really cool art cards I've noticed so just not notice what you are actually getting here some of them are battle some are cosmetic while we are here I should mention that you can exchange some of your very rare cards and some shine dust for these bad boys right here special shop tickets you can use these to buy that really like Cool Elite looking deck back and playmat and coin in the shop
so after you get your flare you will need to equip it on your Pokémon in your deck so you'll notice that little marker in the bottom right of your cards here that means you can attach flare to it now as you see I only have one of this cosmetic flare I'm able to put on this one sandrew the other sandrew does not get that cosmetic flare luckily I unlocked the other one so this one will have a battle flare and As you can see this one oops I accidentally removed a sandrew and now I need
to re-equip the flare and before you say anything yes I agree this is a dumb process now when you look at the deck here you can see that one of my sandrew has the battle flare one of them has the Cosmetic flare which I'm not able to see here the Cosmetic would be happening all the time the battle when it is used in battle so important to notice you will need a flare for each Card in your deck you can't just have one that you put on all of them I hope that in the future
they have an option that just says like flare that deck up and you would have it flared up all the time as you can see I have it equipped on my professor's research here but if I head into my Blaine deck and I take a look at at it my professor's research here does not have it equipped I would need to equip it for each individual deck one of the cool things about this In theory would be you would be able to have specific looking decks and specific flare on each one one of the annoying
things is well all of what you've just seen it's an annoying process I'm not going to lie I don't think it's good there are some customization options available in this game like binders and display boards which I think are pretty cool there isn't a ton to say about it except you are able to create a binder and you were able to put a bunch of Cards in it you would then be able to Showcase this in the Community Showcase or your friends could look at it and people could think it's cool give it a like
and you get a little extra thanks bonus outside of that it's just if you like it if you like showcasing your cards like these are all my immersive cards that I've pulled cool if not it's not a necessary part of the game obviously it all depends on what you want to do a lot of this game is based Around collecting so I could imagine people being pretty stoked about some of the cards they get and putting together a cool binder there are also different display boards where you could display one of your cooler cards right
currently there's just the Eevee and the Sleek frame but more and more will be unlocked as the game goes Global in the game Social Hub it will have trading very soon you also can add people to your friends list and you can take a look at Some of the cool stuff the community has showcased for instance right here Roman has showed his collection I think Roman likes Charizard and as you can see he's got the crown rare a couple of regular ones and the immersive right here with a Charizard background ground pretty cool buddy I'm
going to go ahead and give you a like it wouldn't be a bad idea to create a display board just so your friends could throw a few extra thanks at you and you would be able to get that And use those in the shop speaking of the shop let's go through all the sections right here you are able to exchange shop tickets for things like hourglasses Wonder hourglasses as well as accessories like different covers for genetic Apex and supporter cards this is one of the most important things you can do you will want to get
all of these supporter cards so you can build powerful decks so as soon as you get enough of these shop tickets head on in Here and make sure that you grab these you also will be able to get these from missions in the battle area we'll talk about battles here soon cuz there's obviously a lot to talk about through completing decks missions you will be able to unlock these emblems there's also the special shop that we talked about a little bit during the shine dust section you can grind down some of your cards to get
these beautiful special shop tickets and through that you could Obtain these different accessories right here there will also be limited timed and events section of the shop through completing different missions you will be able to unlock different things in here I'll have videos on all of the events that come to the game currently in the soft launch there's nothing in this section of the shop that you can purchase with poke gold but there definitely will be when the game comes out this will be cosmetic items for the Game there's currently nothing that has been found
in the game that you can actually pay for that gives you an Advantage for instance you cannot pay for a Mewtwo EX that is better than the Mewtwo EX you could pull in packs it would simply be a different looking Mewtwo EX which could be pretty cool but it wouldn't have other benefits all right let's talk about one of the most important things at least for me in this game and that is battling you will learn How to battle through the guide section and I highly recommend you go through it especially after the sixth level
as you go through the 7th 8th all the way to the 13th this will unlock different cards that you can use so I would highly recommend do these guide missions once you do that you'll have the ability to play these solo battles against the computer there will also be event battles that open up throughout the game currently in the soft launch there are No events but I know there are events coming to the global version of the game in these battles you will be going up against different trainer decks your opponent has in the genetic
Apex set the cool thing here up at the top right you can click expansions and you will see that they will have more missions when they unlock new sets in the game which I think is pretty exciting you are able to play these decks against your opponents they have little tasks that you can do As well that will unlock things like firsttime rewards giving you pack hourglasses giving you shine dust and giving you shop tickets and then they have specific battle tasks that you will unlock additional shop tickets for they start off pretty easy like
put four basic Pokémon in play or use fire type Pokémon to knock out Pokémon after you do begin you have intermediate Advanced and then finally expert solo battles the further you go you'll notice that the Challenge missions get a little harder like beat Pikachu EX using only water type Pokemon obviously this could be a little tough right because you are weak to these Pokemon or win this battle using a deck where all the Pokemon are of one two or three Diamond Rarities so you won't have any EX Pokemon on your side I actually really like
this because it just sets up a lot of opportunities to build some really fun decks you'll also notice as these battles get bigger Some of them ask you to do things like do a certain amount of damage or win a certain amount of points if you'd like you could just set a good deck against it hit the Auto Battle function kind of walk away and let it grind that a little bit for you the solo missions are a great place to cut your teeth and start understanding what's going on in the battling portion of this
game you also could see a lot of cool decks that you could build or some ideas to build decks Like a grapp loock deck or a neoc king deck or something like that it is pretty fun to go through this and you do learn a lot about the battles in this game so battling is different from the TCG as you know it but it has a lot of similarities you have 20 card decks and if you run out of cards you are not done you do not deck out it is not over you can go
through all of the cards in your deck and continue battling it is a first to three points to win every Pokemon you Knock out is worth one point unless you knock out an EX Pokémon those are worth two that is the risk and reward of playing some of these really powerful EX Pokemon they're great but if your opponent can get a KO on one of them they are a lot closer to beating you at the start of the battle you flip a coin to determine who will go first and who will go second the player
that goes first is able to play their cards first but cannot Place energy on their first Turn there is no energy in your deck your deck is comprised of 20 cards with no energy cards you generate one energy every single turn except for that first turn outside of a couple cards like Misty there is really no way to attack on the first turn a lot of people think that the player playing second has an advantage and in some ways I got to agree with that because you are able to not only put out your Pokemon
but you are able to attack on that first round Of combat depending on what you have in your active spot speaking of your active spot that is your Pokemon that is out front and fighting this is the Pokemon that's going to take the brunt of the damage from your opponent and deal all of the damage on the other side there are some abilities and things that can kind of change that up like something like Z strika that attack your opponent's bench but in general the two Pokemon in the active spot are the ones Duking and
out and doing battle each card has a required amount of energy to use their attack some cards are completely colorless While others require a lot of a single type for instance Machamp EX requires three fighting type energy whereas someone like Wiggly tough only requires three energy that are colorless so it can be played in a lot of different decks there are three types of Pokémon there are basic Pokemon stage one and stage two These go through the evolutions of cards you have Charmander then the stage one Charmeleon and then finally the stage two Charizard either
ex or non EX version you were able to evolve any card on your bench or the active spot as long as it is not the turn you originally played that card so if you played Charmander turn one you're coming back to it for your next turn on turn three you can put Charmeleon on top evolving your card gives you a new Max HP but not A full HP so if you've already taken damage that damage will move over to the new card with the new Max HP filling up a bit there however it will relieve
you of status conditions like poison or sleep so there are some opportunities there to evolve and get rid of an annoying status condition of course going from a basic card to a stage one stage one to stage two will not only increase your HP but it will increase your damage at other times it will also Increase the amount of energy the card needs to attack as well as possibly its Retreat cost some cards Retreat costs go up some go down it depends it's completely based on the individual card outside of your Pokémon your decks are
also built with trainer cards these are item cards and supporter cards you are able to play as many item cards as you want in a single turn and one supporter card per turn so you can play one professor's research or one Sabrina you Are not able to play both item cards give you a nice little boost like a Pokeball giving you a basic Pokemon that you could put on your bench if you would like or something like potion that would be able to heal your card supporter cards are really powerful cards again that you can
only play one of in a turn professor's research letting you draw two cards Sabrina forcing your opponent to switch something out Misty well doing ridiculous Misty things like possibly Attaching an infinite number of energy to one of your cards supporter cards are extremely powerful and you should definitely have a deck with plenty of trainer cards as far as Pokémon go you can have two of the same Pokemon with the same name in a deck however if Pokemon have a different name you could have essentially four of that Pokemon what I mean by that is you
could have two Pikachus as well as two Pikachu EXs but you couldn't have four Pikachu EXs In a single deck while different Rarity cards are very pretty and cool it doesn't change the amount of those cards that you could have in a deck but it does make your deck really fun when you finally get to pull out that immersive Charizard something to notice about EX Pokemon is there are plenty of them that are multiple stage evolution Pokemon and there are a lot of them that are basic Pokemon like Mewtwo EX and Pikachu EX these can
make really powerful decks Because Basic Pokemon could be drawn on the first round every single time you start a game you will start with at least one Basic Pokemon in your hand no matter what there is no Mulligan the game requires you to start with one and it will give you one if your deck only has some crazy good Basic Pokemon you will get one of those to start of course there are some drawbacks to this because you might not be able to power this card up fast enough or your opponents could Attack a lot
faster and start dealing huge damage to your powerful EX card that that you wouldn't be able to get out of combat easily everything in your turn can be done in any order you want except attacking you can do anything you can evolve your cards play your trainer cards do whatever you want use your Pokemon's individual abilities like Greninja throwing its water shuriken at any member of the enemy team but once you attack your turn is done that is it It's the last thing you do on a turn so make sure you attach that energy and
use all the cards you were planning to before you decide to attack your opponent when you're first learning the game I think it's a good idea to have plenty of Basic Pokemon in your deck that you're able to put out there just to make sure that you don't have a deck that's really hard to build up to right so cards like farfetched and Meowth are really nice again especially when you're Starting they go out they have a really good effect or like farfetch do a lot of damage for a single energy I'm going to talk
now about a few tips for battling that I think will help you out a lot one is retreating I think not enough people know how to retreat cards and make sure that they don't lose an easy point to their opponents especially if they have an EX card a lot of the time it's better to pull that Pokemon back to your bench so that you're able to find a way to Deal damage to your opponents and not give up some of those easy prizes make sure you know the retreat cost of the Pokemon in play that
way you don't make any mistakes when you're attaching energy there are times where you wouldn't need to attach energy to your benched Pokemon because they're already ready to go instead you could put energy on your active Pokemon Retreat that Pokemon so that your Pokemon from the bench Can attack you can Retreat and Attack in the same turn so if that Charizard on the bench is ready to go you can Retreat your Moltres get Char in there and wipe something out also I think there's a lot of value in early aggression you're going to see some
meta decks as you start playing the battles in the game especially against some of the random opponents out there until we have a ranked mode I don't think things are going to be separated too much so you might run into someone with a ton of Cards or someone without a ton of cards there isn't really a good way to sort of sort players right now in fact even when you go to random match right here and you select between beginner and trading card game player I have not seen a difference really in the two players
who join this section in fact it just looks like more people are currently using the beginner queue this will probably change once the game goes Global but in general you'll find great and bad players in Both of these cues unlocking certain cards will give you the ability to use these rental decks in the game you have 10 uses of them and I think it's a cool way to kind of look at how the game builds these decks right for instance this is Venusaur EX ex couple of Bulbasaur executes skitts one go- goat iaus an exeggutor
and a Venusaur EX as well as some rattatas and a ER radicate a lot of players like to have two of each of the cards so for instance this Only has one Venusaur EX I think a lot of players like to have two just so they have the opportunity to draw it but again this is a version of this deck you can see how the computer thinks you should build it lots of basic Pokémon and a few really solid trainers here like pokeballs professor's research and Erica let's talk about some of the basics of deck
building and this will help you out a lot I think you are able to store 15 decks at any given time you Can name them whatever you want you can put little cool coins in them especially once the game goes Global there will be different options for that let me just start a brand new deck for you right here so building a new deck when you first start if you'd like you could have the game Auto build you a deck inside here just say I want to build a Dragon deck please make it for me
and the game will put that together for you right here this is a Dragonite Deck with speo And F and Porygon inside of it fine they usually don't make too many terrible decisions but the more you play the better you will get at building decks let's talk about a few of the things that you kind of want in every deck there are a ton of good supporter cards but I think there are four that are pretty non-negotiable maybe with a few specific decks no but I'll show you them right now professor's research is a non-negotiable
card I would say you only Have 20 cards in your deck and not pulling something you need is absolutely devastating professor's research gives you the ability to draw two cards it is unbelievably valuable you also have Pokeball Pokeball is one of the best cards you get a random Basic Pokemon I should stress this Basic Pokemon from your deck into your hand the nice thing about this is if you're running you know a deck with EX Pokemon that are Basics like Mewtwo EX Pikachu EX you're easily Able to get them also the way you play Pokeball
and professor's research would depend on what you need if you're really looking to pull a basic Pokemon you could play professor's research first and then Pokeball guaranteeing a higher chance of getting a basic or if you want to grab a basic and then grab some other cards that you need you would play Pokeball first then professor's research this way there is one less basic in your deck as You can see we have them up here in Our Deck these are kind of the four non-negotiable cards in any deck there are a lot of other great
trainer cards a lot of great items that I think can go in lots of decks but these ones are almost impossible to not have in your deck at least you could but they're just so incredibly good let's talk about the rest of the items here potion is a great card healing 20 damage to your Pokemon especially early keeps it in a position Where your opponents might try to put pressure on it but you're able to stop that you also of course can use this to get out of situations where o they'd be able to KO
me with this next Mewtwo attack but not if my Venusaur was able to heal xeed is an amazing card it lowers the retreat cost of your active Pokemon by one if you have two in your deck you could play this and lower it by two there are a lot of times where you're going to need to retreat your Pokemon bring something in that can either take a hit or deal a ton of damage and X speed helps you do that hand scope is a little less useful I would say given that we have 20 card
decks and once you start playing you're going to start to understand what they probably have this card isn't as valuable but it does tell you a lot about where they are at in their progression right whether or not they have that Charizard in their hand or if They're still looking for it this also combos pretty well with red card red card is really interesting you take your opponent's hand you make them Shuffle it back into their deck and then they draw three cards now if they've got eight cards in their hand this could be pretty
valuable at the same time there are times where opponents have red carded me and it's been exactly what I needed I didn't have anything I was looking for in my hand they red card me I get a Professor's research I get the ex Pokémon I'm looking for so you're going to need to play the game a decent amount before you have a good barometer as to when you're going to want to Red Card your opponents and then we have Pokedex look at the top three cards of your deck this is a decent card it can
give you an idea of what's obviously coming next and how you could play given that information not one of my favorites though I would probably have a different Trainer Card probably a supporter in my deck now depending on the type of deck You're Building all these supporters are incredibly good Erica heal 50 damage to grass Pokemon Misty is able to attach a crazy amount of energy depending on the luck of a coin flip to water type Pokemon Blaine does extra damage with Ninetails Rapidash and Magmar Koga on the other hand will take a card like
Muk or weezing and it will pull the entire card from your active spot back into Your hand this creates some crazy cool strategies Giovani is always nice it allows you to do 10 extra damage to your opponent's active Pokemon there are a few really good break points to use with Giovani to pick up Kos that your opponent wouldn't expect Brock is a tough one it gives you a fighting energy to attach to Onyx or Golem it's not bad this is just like a very very specific card for a specific deck Sabrina on the other hand
one of the best cards in the Game in my opinion Sabrina lets you switch out your opponent's active Pokemon to the bench so incredibly powerful so amazingly useful I would highly recommend having something like this in most decks at least one and then Lieutenant Serge sets up a pretty specific strategy with Raichu to kind of create a bit of a nuke deck or electrode and electrobuzz you are able to move energy from your benched Pokemon to them you could use some fun Retreat Strategies where you pull something back get that electrode in there switch the
energy over and do a ton of damage so again depending on the type of deck you are building your supporter cards are going to start to fill in and then things like Sabrina and Giovani can fill into a lot of decks as well as things like potion and xeed things like red card hand scope and Pokedex are a little more specific but you could make some really cool decks with them especially Once you start to understand the game a lot better you'll know when you can red card your opponent and when it actually might be
helping them now let's just take a look at building a pretty basic deck right here let's say you're starting out and you want to build a Machamp deck so Machamp EX right here we're going to take a look requires three fighting energy it also has a pretty high Retreat cost in general en if you're looking to build a deck like This you're going to take a couple of the machamps a couple of the oops a couple of the maches as well as a couple of the machops you could take one of the regular machamps in
this deck as well this just gives you a higher likelihood of being able to evolve into Machamp because you have more in your deck and it gives you an option to not play an ex Pokemon if you would not like to filling out the rest of your deck is going to depend on how you would like to play Your strategy with this sometimes you're gonna play all the same type so you're gonna say I'm gonna have sandrew and sand slash with this I've got Machamp here that requires three energy so I'm G to take a
couple cards that require very little energy to get online sandrew requires one sand slash requires two so it's pretty easy for all of these cards to get into play and then attach an energy every single turn and continue to fight with them it's a pretty nice way To look at it you also don't need to play your type of cards let's say you really like Machamp but you want to have some normal Pokémon in there maybe you want Machamp and you'd like something like Meowth and Persian Meowth giving you the ability to draw more cards
and Persian using colorless energy as well to do some cool amounts of damage colorless cards are a great addition to a lot of decks right so the Machamp deck needs fighting energy but colorless you Can do whatever you want so you can put in something like farfetched which does really powerful damage early for a colorless energy or maybe something like Meowth and Persian where if meow's out in that active spot you're able ble to draw extra cards if Persian out in that active spot you can discard cards from your opponent's hand when you're attacking These
are nice cards that you're able to round out any solid Deck with again because they are colorless Energy you can kind of put them in just about anything so now you're looking at your deck you've got a couple of machops you got a couple of meows you've only got four basic Pokemon I could see a reality where you say I want a couple more and you put in a few farfetched then at this point you're getting pretty heavy on Pokemon in your deck and you probably want to fill out the rest of it with some
of your trainer cards there are people who play less Basic Pokemon More trainers there are other people who play more Basic Pokemon less trainers it's all going to depend on personal preference if you have less Basic Pokemon you do increase the odds of just kind of pulling nothing good and losing because you only pulled one Machop you couldn't seem to find anything in your deck you pulled like Machop a couple of Machamp EXs you never got the Machoke you never got your professor's research it happens more than you think so I do Think a good
amount of Basic Pokemon help something that you can also build your deck for is Shoring up your weaknesses or looking to fight specific decks right so if I'm playing this bamp deck I'm not going to be too excited when I see something like Mewtwo on the other side so I could put other cards in my deck that play well into Mewtwo and then I also could just go full in this fighting type once you have your cards picked out you're able to switch your Deck box to something that you want it to look like you
can change your coin to look different you can change your playmats to look different and again a lot more deck backs and playmats and things like that are going to be available when the game launches globally and some of them are really pretty and a lot of them you would have to pay for these Cosmetics will be premium things that you buy you also in the deck building process could be Attaching flare to your cards if that's something that you would like to do and something to note is you can select the kind of energy
going into your deck the reason for this is really interesting so let's say you're playing a colorless deck you could have a specific type of energy that way you know I'm running colorless but I also have some dark types in my deck so that's the kind of energy I'm bringing or you could have a multi- energy deck something that looked A little like this you could have a fighting lightning type deck now this is not really a great combination in fact a lot of the times you see multitype decks is because you have something in
your deck like Dragonite which requires two energy water and lightning type there are cards however that you could have in your deck and not have any energy for them and still do pretty well something like wheezing comes to mind the cool thing about a card like wheezing is it Has a really nice ability once during your turn you can just poison the Pokemon in the active spot even if you don't have any energy for it you can put this card out there poison them and then use something like Koga a supporter card to pull it
back into your deck and switch in the Pokemon that you've been powering up a lot of people love using wheezing as a stall tactic to power up their bench so this is an example of that Dragonite deck I was talking about This has coughing wheezing Dratini dragon air Dragonite as well as potion Pokeball professor's research Koga Giovani Sabrina now when you build this deck the game will add every type of energy that your deck has right it'll add all three however you don't need Darkness energy to make this work you just need the water and
lightning energy for Dragonite whereas wheezing can use its ability to poison your opponents and then you use Koga switch it out put that Dragonite in start sweeping your opponents so there are a lot of different things that you can do with deck building when you first start if you just want to say like look I want a fire deck I don't know much about the game build it for me the game will do its best to build you a decent fire deck that you could take into battle as you start to get more advanced and
you start to understand what you're looking for you can tailor decks to your specific Needs when you decide to go into battle you will be able to select the deck that you want to take in there just something to remind you just because you built a new deck does not mean that is the one that is selected I've made that mistake too many times and run right back into battle with a deck I was just using let's talk a little bit about the premium pass for a sec the premium PASS gives you an additional pack
every 24 hours these packs are on their own timer It doesn't change your regular pack timer to an 8 hour timer it gives you an additional timer that you are able to unlock packs on you can charge up to two of these at a time so if you don't log into the game for 48 hours you would have two of them built up but you would would kind of be wasting your other packs so I would not recommend doing that anyway just something I should mention there you will get an additional pack every single day
this increases Your card acquisition by quite a bit and it's probably the most value that you could put into the game MoneyWise you also get a two week free trial when you start not only can you face off against the computer or random people online you also could set up a private match with your friend very very simple you just enter a password they enter the same password you both search for the battle you link up and you go very very simple I think a lot of people will be doing This when they go to
live Pokemon events which will be really cool just having even a battle like code for that event and everyone that's there is using it and just like matching up I think would be very fun one of my last tips that I would like to give you is just a tip that I give people when they're starting a new game and I think it's very important to remember you will never get to play this game use these cards create these decks for the first time ever Again you're going to get to do it once and then
you won't get to experience that fun moment so I would love it if you watched my videos checked out my guides and built some decks with some of the things that I've cooked up at the same time I do think there's a ton of value in enjoying the moment that you're playing in being okay with the times you lose being excited with some of the cards you pull you just won't be able to do it again for the first time so enjoy That first time with all of these moments thank you all for watching thank
you for listening I told you it was going to be a long one but I wanted to give you everything you needed to really start your journey in Pokemon TCG pocket right I hope it was helpful thank you so much for watching thank you for listening I'll see you all next time we did it yeeha
