tell me about yourself after interviewing literally a thousands of sales people as a sales exec I've realized most people answer this question completely wrong in this video I'm gonna break down a simple two-step framework you can use to nail this question and get more dream offers but before I dive into it it's important to understand what the hiring man is actually asking what do they say tell me about yourself they are not asking you to share your entire life story your child what pets you have Etc what they're really asking is what value will you
bring to my team what value we bring to my company how will you make us better ultimately they are asking with them w-i-i-f-m what's in it for me when you start with this mental shift this shifts how you respond to not just this question but every question after so here's an example how most people typically answer this question let's say for example your interviews with an account executive role so I went to the University of Oregon and graduated I wasn't sure what I wanted to do but I need to make some money so I just
kind of stumbled into sales now it's been 10 years I've sold payroll I've sold Waste Management I've sold merchant services and most recently is software and the company I was was just with just like half at Salesforce and I was part of that so I'm looking for like a really good sales job with growth potential and stable cash flow that's why I'm here okay think about how with them the hiring manager is wondering what's in it for them versus if we make that mental shift and we use a really simple two-step script so Step One
is the proven track record and here's a few simple props to get you started which is I've been in or my background is for example I've been a bdb sales for 10 years and in that time I've hidden XC to my code every single year between 100 250 plus I've also hit presence glove every single year but the best part is I've had the chance to also mentor forward coach other people the teams I've been on and held them also hit the top of one percentile as well as you can see in my bragbook I've
glued stack wreckings presence Club award trip photos and the recommendation letters from 25 different peers and past sales I've worked for as well see the difference there this illustrates clear success and also as you've been able to help other people as well step two how it relates to them you want to be able to now bridge the gap between the skills you have and how you can actually help them and you can use a really simple prompt like what I'm looking for so for example what I'm looking for is a grower organization that I believe
in that can possibly make an impact to their top and bottom line an organizational rewards hard work and results is this what your organization is looking for now notice there I also ended with a question this helps you control the flow it also helps you ensure you don't waste your time if there's no alignment so here's what you do next with this really simple two-step framework number one write out your exact strip of what you're going to say you don't want to stutter or mess this up as this is actually one of the first questions
though I of you this is the reverse impression of you so you want to really make a great impression number two practice until it's smooth buttery and natural you want to do it over and over and over until you can say flawlessly remember what do you know this question and the question is after you are sending yourself up to receive a killer off of the very end now if you want to learn how to find and land your dream cell show as fast as possible make sure to check out this video right here
