Fourth Wing (SPOILER review) w/ my wife and our friend

want to give a quick shout out to all of my patrons thank you so much for all of the continued support okay so uh in a different format the normal I have not finished the book just now I finished uh fourth wi by Rebecca yaros by Rebecca Yos wrong with you Jesus Christ okay so I finished it earlier today um but my wife Courtney say hi Courtney uh and our friend christe uh they have both read it and they love it and I read this book because because it's amazing uh Courtney I I made a

promise with Courtney that if she ever actually read a fantasy book that I would read it too and then we could talk about it okay so here's the real story actually chrisy told me I had to read which was Sarah J moss books that you had me with the the fairy oh um a court of thorns and Roses yes so I started that and I was like I don't know halfway through and I was just really struggling to get done so I'm texting her and she's like yeah we're all oh she's like yeah we're all

over that we're on moved on we moved on it's all about Zen and I was like who is this what are you talking about so it was no time for me to put it down at that point I was like okay put it down cuz I'm not really into it and picked up fourth wi mhm and didn't put down so good yeah you hit me up like a few days later like you better start reading this because I'm almost done yeah I didn't put it down it's amazing so I read this and thought it was

amazing and thought it was amazing right no thought it was amazing no no it's not good oh not good wait you don't have to say it's amazing it's like it's so it to me it's a two out of five no you said three earlier he said three you said three I said three halfway through when it was wait stop you think it went less yeah what is wrong what is wrong with you well let's talk about it okay okay talk okay so do it sure I can't wait for a calm conversation okay so this this

is a FY book kind of I it's it's a romance book I'm sorry there's dragons they're in a war College there's Griffins true so tell me about what's what are you talking about there's different gods there's no grocery store and Starbucks is who's the who's the who they like you to Mal right wait you don't say that now cuz I do I do all the time like oh Malik oh God no okay and I don't say God anymore I say God it's a fantasy book like oh God it's a fake fantasy book it's a romance

book with a fantasy like V to it no no but would you like this book if it didn't have the romance absolutely what what absolutely not but also it's literally only in two chapters in fourth Wing literally only have so I don't I don't read romance books I have read oh would I oh I don't know now I wanted to say no but maybe I yeah you would need it it is good that whole thing is based off of it yes okay so there is uh there is some very intense sex scenes that go on

for a lot of pages way more than comt which by the way are written amazing would you much better than a court of thorns and Roses when you're like oh my God I read a thn that you were reading present City I no a different one where I opened it up and a random page was like ribbon I was like what is this yeah yeah yeah yeah that was 11th cycle I feel like we sounds it was dark it was dark and really awkward it's the worst part of the book I said okay so that

right this was not the worst part of okay so I I there were important parts Romance Books um I've read like no like I don't think classified um a court of thorns and Roses but you read the whole thing like all of them there's like seven right of course yes but you read other sah Jas books um no that's only the series I've read okay so what I believe and Twilight and 50 Shades of Gray who did right did not you really didn't what no I did not read that you know this this is so

awkward okay my point is I suspect in Romance stories it's not like every other page they're having sex correct there a lot of buildup correct and then they finally do it you're like finally yeah which is what this was the whole thing was a buildup sexually I don't know between Violet and Zade not the whole thing well it was a buildup between her and the other guy no because it was a buildup and then what's the other guy's name d Dane sorry Dane atos come on so it was a lot of buildup between her and

Dane every chapter every other page she's like look at his AB look at his ass remember when I texted you I like when is this going to be done with I think now that I'm but I think now that I'm so far through I feel like that part of that was so small every time one of those guys walks by she has a sexual fantasy these oh they are hang on a second they're 20-year-old kids at a war college and all these people are walking around like like and they're all super attractive for sure I

don't think it's all super ATT you're describing a romance story oh no I I do think they are super attractive have you not seen the Tik toks that these people put together I don't have Tik Tok look good you are describing a romance story okay moving on okay I believe this a romance story kind of a Fantasy V okay so okay so why would I like this it's the so it's a I think this is a fantasy story in the sense that it's good for people that aren't into fantasy oh like if I I think

that if you read a lot of fantasy like I suspect everybody watching this video are you'll be like this sucks okay then don't you wait a second then don't you think that this could maybe get people into fantasy I have never feel like I now want to get oh for sure I'm like what else yes this was my Gateway this is my my gateway drug your gateway drug yeah it's like weave yeah yeah just like that or or more like I don't know like raspberry vodka or something the raspberry vodka no uh no it's the

pink lemonade pink lemonade next thing you know you're drink clearify yourself and you by yourself listen talking about fantasy books with your friends listen it's a great book it's amazing okay what did you it's so good so let's let's break down a couple things here and talk about some different aspects here okay lay down um let's start off with a couple things that I thought were good okay okay I thought the second act of the book I I'm going to break this up is like the First Act was uh to do about that I think

the First Act was like violet getting ex getting like into the college right getting established and trying to learn learn the ropes a little bit okay I think the second act was her like confident and I'm a badass walk differently I'm cool now and you think it was after and you think it's after the kiss and I think it's after she bonded wait bonded is I think that's the third act after the bonding and then we get to the action scenes bonded to the dragon yeah oh okay so okay so we also discussed this by

the way this is we have no idea how Matt does no spoilers yeah we're just talking spoilers here it'll be on the title I honestly like I thought about it a couple minutes before this and I was like there's nothing I could actually say that's not going to be spoiler I think all the people watching this I either have no intention of reading it or have already read it or just try to read it just try just try to read it it but we will spoilers the people watching this are fantasy nerds but then maybe

it's a you know maybe just switch it up like have fun have yes just enjoy yourself okay well I thought the second act was good what is the second like her like where do you think that's I think it's when she's like training and past the past the like hard things of like before the you know when she's still into the first guy so you think like before Gauntlet yeah okay and then once she gets bonded I feel like we're finally into the all right kind of action I think before the bonding I thought was

good okay okay then I feel like it all fell apart I think it all fell apart I think that was really early think about 23 well about halfway wait you fell apart when our main character became a badass yes yeah I did I did we are judging you right now just so you will know this you won't but as I was reading I was taking some notes making predictions yes I feel like you should go get your your I was making predictions and there's like N I made like n or 10 okay then give me

the predictions so here's what I predicted very early on here's what I predicted I predicted she was going to bond the the big the big black are we not saying his name tan it's Taran are we saying his name yeah you say right wrong so I I I knew that she'd bond that Dragon okay as soon as andna showed up I was like she bonding both dragons Okay I knew that she was going to end up with Zaden sure everyone knew that yeah yeah no you did not know that yes I do that right when

she met him oh the second this guy's going to try to kill me the second she I didn't know right then I I knew it pretty pretty after that no because did you maybe I do read romance books did you read um did you read the series uh with four then um beatric and four um I definitely did not [ __ ] BS what was it are you sure you read it yes okay a son of a what is it called and she it's the same thing where he's like the the bad he's like the

bad guy and it was like oh yeah but I feel that's also very Twilight I knew she' join the rebels yes well of course she would join the rebels that's the the big TST what's the twist that doesn't even happen in fourth Wing what's the twist what doesn't happen she Dres the rebel she does yeah of course because when Brennan comes down the stairs and says are you ready to join little sister like I knew he I knew something was going on with Brennan you knew he was alive I I did call out that something

then why the would he then would Zaden ever have killed that's the problem I do why would Zaden ever think he was going to kill Violet ever how could he ever look Brennon in the eyes again Brennon was even mad when they got together and he was like you have to do this in front of my sister or bring her back to make this I'll kill you it's like well did you know he actually wanted to kill her yeah that was weird I also find it strange that her Dragon did not tell her I think

it's all planned I think it's all planned I found it weird that he didn't tell her ver it's Veronica raw is WR Divergent series did you read that oh okay maybe I do read fantasy you do read fantasy I guess I didn't know is that your books you've read did you read Pillars of the Earth uhhuh I'm reading it right now oh it's good oh God are great there's sections in that they're just violent rapes it's it's so yeah it's so bad okay anyways okay so I so I thought that was decent I don't like

that everything was obvious like there's no apparently what wasn't nothing I thought nothing was obvious everything no nothing was obvious so when I saw you finishing the book you were walking in the house like like that yeah jaw on the floor not obious it wasn't obvious surpris I thought you meant like you were you were surprised by everything yes see I was not ja Dro me you weren't surprised I was surprised by every single thing you just said you already knew all the plot points no no no like I knew that he was going to

no no what I'm saying is I knew that she was going to end up with Zaden like that was I knew that was what about joining the rebes joining the Reb but I like those aren't Shockers I the Shockers were the death which we won't tell you don't need to tell you of people I knew she was going to kill uh Liam you knew that no I know I knew she was going to kill that little Jack Jack right so we're just fully just saying all the kills okay yeah wow so um you didn't yes

of course she was going to kill Jack but what were you surprised I was surprised about how good it was that's what we want to get to that's there it's about the content we are telling you the way that this writer gets it's and it immediately captivates you it immediately takes you in the journey it's it is easy reading it is very much Harry Potter Vibes with like the four different quadrants right we've got a school situation but it's a war school like which doesn't make any sense there but you love it anyway you have

to you have to suspend some belief here like this idea that it which drove me nuts like a few things about the war College thing one let's just let everybody kill each other when we desperately need military people that's L that doesn't we can s this whole like let's let the rebels join and make them the most powerful people in thetion right that are want to probably turn against us because you don't think you don't think they did that because they wanted to watch them and and if the majority put inad but if the majority

of the people die ining the the Branded kids the they got these Rebels kids and so in case people have not read this which probably haven't um they you should even though there was this big Rebellion that happened before the book started and all the people on the bad side of it had to join this war College become super awesome military leaders that doesn't make sense Beyond awesome they're like wielding various different types of magic because here's the problem is you haven't read the next book so there's no way I could even explain how it

even happened without spoiling the next one cuz they do actually explain it but does it make sense I think so yes beautifully beautifully yeah I think it makes sense her words are so the next book that we rushed out in like 6 months was just a beautiful Masterpiece she did not she did not rush it Rebeca if you want to like contact us even though likeing it doesn't say like you do you contact us like these two um so you think the second one's better than the first one yeah I do but I guess a

lot of people it wasn't rushed it no I loved it I didn't care that it was you get it I want it I want the information now this is why I don't do we are literally dying yes and this is why I I stopped reading books that didn't have like the series already done that's ended up with 50 gr because I was like looking through my Kindle being like what series has been done because this series is I'm waiting this series waiting sorry I'm sorry what what is this book that that's the perfect example I

all these people will agree it's you okay I had to stop reading literally almost had a conniption over this not being done right and then it got fully put on on HBO that's true we are just dying and all the like I'm fine it could be that I'm fine with it did you kind of feel like I'm fine with it if it was if people feel like it was rushed yeah I rushing Rush get it down in a month let's go do you kind of feel like they were younger portrayed than they like they're supposed

to be in the early 20s right I feel like they kind of acted like horny teenagers have you not met any 20y old this is perfectly depiction of like early exactly 20 you think that's early 20s correct I'm glad I didn't know you in my early 20s this is so your 20s yes next question what were you like in the early 20s next question I should have asked these things okay um one thing I was put off by a little bit was so I don't mind cussing in my books I am married to somebody and

friends with somebody that cuss a lot clearly don't me for no reason so the word is mentioned about 300 times I L it that was is it really I legitimately didn't even notice it was and you know what see that's why I think I liked it and I'm not making up the 300 was because that speak our language but can you just I honestly don't even have a recollection of it one time oh really no she says it all the time which makes which I love because part of my well it's in my head you

cuss a lot yeah I do but you don't just use the word a little more varied you're you're a little more Innovative with the sure but but it wasn't just how did I not notice one you didn't notice one time I said that it's 300 times you did once that's awesome does your internal monologue just c a lot that's mine does too that's what I'm saying that's why you're like it my internal monologue is constantly cussing constantly okay so I was like well this sounds like a great story for a mom sounds great right sorry

let's talk about the World building you know what that term are you familiar with that term so by World building what I mean is I don't yeah how was the lore of the world kind of crafted in there did you feel kind of like entranced in the history and like the you feel like that was a little weak no it wasn't just weak it was I say no I just couldn't understand I was like stop I couldn't understand what the [ __ ] the words I was like you didn't think Crescent City was like that

cuz I thought that city was over the top on that God I'm like 14 pages city was like and I can't my brain straight pages of info ding but info that with reason to make it Lord of the Rings Z you know like Rings had a great map I understood it I could read that point um okay as we have by the way a map up there oh yeah sense yeah makes sense yeah I feel like I feel like the World building was not great I think the the tool they used to do the World

building annoyed me where she would have this she did this thing where she when she was trying to memorize something she would ran L just blurred out facts reciting facts about the world no but she was only doing that when she was under high stress that's a high stress no I know the reason but like that's which I thought was also really cool I thought she I thought Rebecca did a really good job of putting in like a lot ofal health things Rebecca we're on first name basis I think so so what I think yaros

did was she's like here's how I'm going to drop in the world building I'm going to just like throw it all in in these random moments of like stressful throwing it out there great wasn't the ability so did you feel like that was her laying foundation for like giving us a hint for I feel like that was her going I don't know how to throw in these lore pieces let me just make up this thing to make it okay a background thing well wait are you going to read number two no what I can't believe

you can do that you have you heard everything that I've said I don't care what are your predictions for the next book that will be a fun game I don't know about next book but I do think no not next book just number two what do you think happens if you had you had all these predictions reading the first one well I think I think what we're coming down to is I maybe not in the second I don't how long is the series going to be the five five yes I don't yeah I'm I'm nervous

nous think clearly what the story someone someone has to get knocked out is going to die r r Ron ran ran I don't you did Audi book I take it I did audiobook I did don't act like you off I did book I did audio book and I did Kindle because it was released at midnight and I was at work so what was I going to do wait till Amazon dropped it off in the morning that's Harry Potter it's true no I book walked around the hospital for 6 and 1 half hours like a drunk

like oh it's so oh I'm so I'm reading iron flam sorry that's what happen you XR is you're going to wait I don't no I don't even care I'm like pushing the button you'll be F uhuh you're good yeah what then I finished it there book two or book one book two then I finished it there and that is when you finished in one night no no no it took me like I had tried to spread it out for like three I think like four or five days I tried to spread it out but that's

when I finished it there at the hospital and I was like like I was like hot and I was sweaty and my hair was all pulled out and I was like flustered and I was like I looked everybody I was like I was like 3 in the morning I was like I got to get out of here and like I tried to and I tried to walk out and that's when Elliot and Jeremy stopped me and Elliot's like what's wrong with you and I was like I was reading this book and I just it's a

lot and he's like you didn't read iron Wing did you he like like he's like Camille's in a in a book depression right now and I literally walked by them depression is a I love that you guys loved it oh I sat outside for like a half an hour I was like you go through the stages of grief I was so upset your negotiations M it's wrong denial denial so bad how did you feel the pros was you know Pro like the quality of the writing itself oh thought was amazing not I'm not talking about

the story I'm talking about like like is she eloquent writers yes I don't think I would say eloquent but not in a bad way I feel like she captured people easy to read easy to read way I thought it was yes yeah no I think she did a great job I wouldn't say that she over complicated things I don't think she I don't think it was horrible I don't think it was horrible we're not speaking the same we're not saying we're saying the same thing we're saying the same thing I think it was an easy

read and not over complicated yeah yeah we're saying the same in a beautiful way Rebecca yes as whereas like Sarah J Mass reading is it mass or Moss I don't know we're not on the first name basis they don't say her name in the audio book uhuh I don't have those on I'm pretty sure she actually used ribbons I've heard from other people right she used the word ribbons at one point yes yeah she does that's in the that's when she does the whole fourth book she says she's oh no that doesn't bother me her

writing bothers me because sometimes someone's talking and it's new paragraph and I don't know who it is and I have to go back to the previous which by the way I caught on to your questions after the fact you're like how do you know how do you know I just knew all right stay okay sorry sorry Jesus Christ sorry okay we did we've been through these things let's um let's talk about the characters which one which I think are you would say is probably the strongest point in the book right the character work absolutely they're

amazing character for sure why do you say this which character is your favorite oh um I like I like rck oh is just a fun time he's just a fun time just every once in a while just pops off and I'm like yep that guy there's actually a video onl a good comedy comedy background it went a video online went around about like all these different drinks and he was like a like sex on the beach or something and I was like yeah he's just a good time he's just a good time yes I did

I did find myself smiling when he he always happy he's always making fun jokes and stuff like we like him but I feel like violet and zayan are superbly written I agree like really like they have depth they have backstory they have things that we don't know about them things that are coming out they're sweet and spicy you want to be them like you want to be it's like it's almost like the ying and the yang right like it is it's like he's theil she's the angel she's trying to save everyone he's like you have

to understand like people die right I mean that's what it is right so it's like you really want to be a good person like you watch her become stronger and like like she's like a weakling starting out she becomes so much stronger by mid book and like she claims your attention and she's so smart too she's so like literally her coping mechanism is to just spew like all the different things that she knows I feel like it did a lot of telling me she was smart so I but I don't I didn't like see it

a lot I saw the moments I saw she was smart was when she poisoned everybody that's what I was going to say when she poisoned everyone was huge that was just like in her back pocket like all the time though what else did she do all of her different languages I felt things that she could R back in the from being a scribe like what everything everything all the way to the very end she is always able to recall like this the story wasn't there this story was there I need to find I mean kind

of a main thread in the book was about a story that was not being found right but I also think that she problem solves like she puts things together right gotta she puts things together but then sometime but and she still has worked she still is trying to grow to do that but she seems to kind of like fit things so what it seems yeah I'm feeling a little protective over Violet okay I I ultimately I I just feel like this book is written for what a totally different audience I feel like it's written for

women for Wom what say it say it I think it's written for women and I think it's written for people that are like not in fantasy so do you think it's also written for men in the way that women are like oh that was really fun I'm going to go and I'm going to go have sex with my husband like I bet she increased sex lives of oh for sure no it's like a 50 Shades of Gray thing I already know that more women have had sex their spouses how do you know that well I

can tell you from my therapy clients they have all been read not all but I would say like I've gotten verba let me think at least did you recommend the book To Us absolutely yes so we only have like a minute left before this camera shs off by the way only two had already read it and like seven have now read it all right so let's let's recap we don't like it very much what no we love it we are five out of five we we are 10 out of five 10 out of five we're

still reading it slash listening to it slash sending theories who would you recommend it to everyone come on I have okay fine who would you recommend it to moms I am recommending it to women um IED married women why why did you be married I don't know no um I did I did recommend it to my sister then I sent it to her then she bought it from Target and she still has not started it because she said she can't handle it she said she's going to jump in and not be able to get out

because she needs to go shopping at Target you know and not see a dragon know I think we have 40 seconds left before okay fine all right so we recommend that you buy it we recommend you just try it it's just an easy read and it does say a lot maybe that's why maybe that's your thing now maybe you'll enjoy it all right I think so that's it that's it anything else we're signing off with five out of five five out of five two out of five oh my God all right you guys know how
