okay guys in here today dick rod guys a leak he had one of the best performance on ABC see last week he got second and he has been doing jujitsu for only 16 months he was blue bone when he competed at ECC and then they gave me the purple girl olive oil right yes hey guys we're doing an instructional video Finnick all about like have a conditioning / pharmacy and so today I'm gonna ask him some questions about like how he does it because first of all I was only TCC I was watching and then
he would start the match the openers would go back and forth for him but in the end of the match she was like keep going keep chasing keep going crazy hard and today for example we train it here for like almost 1 hour as well and he was adjusting the bureau and we were like rotating him and he was not getting tired as well so how do you how do we work with your conditioning and and everything so my philosophy on you know getting great good cardio especially like a DCC type cardio is never take
a roundoff you know if you're at practice and you can your professor says you know you guys doing our live you guys doing our life and you have to treat it like competition you can't just you know you know you can't just pull borrowed and sit down the whole time and expect to get great car you have to be constantly tagging if you're on the ground you know you know you got to be throwing lays chasing chasing the submission the whole time so in practice constantly constantly chasing the submission and going for the win because
I think it helps it every way you know what whether that mean technically work whether that being you know more better conditioned it all makes a difference and if you're skipping rounds I can guarantee you're poet it's not so yeah definitely don't take any rounds off and if you're if you're the the lifting weights weights type high reps men you really want that that physique and those abs and those muscles of pop you gotta go high reps so I mean nothing I do is lesson four sets of 20 reps so I think having high reps
in conjunction with with everything around off you know if you don't know hour or 30 to 45 minutes of hard lifting every day and then live everyday and then you know half an hour or 45 minutes of drilling your car is gonna be top-notch so I say never take it round off keep lifting hard and always shakes us up and you know how many times you work out for a week lifting per week Oh seven days a week I trained jiu-jitsu five times a week I wrestled twice a week and then I lift weights seven
days a week and then how long is the each workout for their lives so for the lifts I don't go along within 30 to 45 minutes max and I do 45 minutes max everything I do is I do a train one body part a day four sets of 20 reps and eight exercises per body part and do split dining faces like recording like it's getting close to the tournament it's the beginning of the year or do a group same training so I do the same training the entire year I change the weights around a little
bit like for instance I compete this weekend and Houston so I'm still doing high reps but a little bit less weight I don't want to be as sore pre-match but when I have time that I'm not competing you know I just go hard as I can all the time no I guys one thing I noticed when he was training today is that you're well know for playing on top but your pool guard all the time right they're like you gotta learn so I don't like I don't like playing bottom in in competition but in practice
it's necessary and necessary you know I don't know I'm I'm not to get a leg lock so I trained him all the time I'm not too good at sweeping people so I trained her all the time I don't like to have any holes in my game right now I have a few so I'm doing my best to close him up all right and what about nutrition or nutrition it's really I mean in my opinion it's like 85 to 9 percent of any professional athletes a world you have to be able to cook you have to
be able to eat your food and eating enough food a lot of athletes really think that they're getting enough nutrition and majority song they're not proteins a big part of the of the game like you know if you're not eating minimum if you're professional athlete you're not eating a minimum of your body weight protein programs so for instance I'm 240 I'm 235 240 pounds if I don't need at least 240 grams of protein I'm doing something wrong that's very minimum so I try nutrition-wise I try to get 1 1 gram to 1 point 4 grams
of protein per pound roughly 300 320 for me it's a lot of food it's a lot of commitment how many words per day Oh it usually usually I get like five meals in but big meals like right breakfast for me is kind of small I'll do like 3 eggs 2 piece of toast and some bacon but every other male laughter that is like 8 ounces of chicken 2 cups of rice something along those lines and one thing that everybody always asks is like the day of the tournament what do we so day before and so
actually actually the week prior to tournament right free prior to my competition I'll have really high carbs I'd say up until about 3 days before so I really really high carbs up until about three days before I compete and then I do no carbs so I will so too lazy for competition I cut all the carbs just protein and then day before competition all I eat is high sugars so so I do like a bunch of fruit crunchy bread bunch of pasta almost no protein and what that does is we have like four days before
competition you have a lot of carbs you absorb everything you get your body really really tense and really ready for competition then you cut the carbs out for those two days drain all the water and then right before you compete it just kill all the sugars all the fruits all the bananas all the carbs all the sodium and you blow back up and your body just ramped up ready to go that's how I've done it since since high school man since I was like 14 15 it's never failed me how do you learn that this
is something that never answers do as well or do something that someone taught you or are you just studded so in high school they tell us a little bit about carb cycling especially like how to get your body to peak and that's really it man everybody is different you know every everything works definitely for most people but I find that if if I just kind of hold off on the carbs you know week of competition and then day before I just pound it out like like as much as possible and I just blow up I
feel fantastic granted I'm not cutting weight you know I am heavy weight but I like to look good where I compete to feel even better I got oh you know something just about as you see earlier thought who works it for us he told her one day before the tournament he came to I said I made a great job you did amazing today and when one side and what was the strategy today and you're told he was forward poor boy that's always the strategy yeah yeah I'd like to you know I'm not at the stage
in my career where I can beat people technically so I have to beat him by being tougher than them I have to keep pushing the pace have to break them mentally right to physically and overpower them and and you know just let my will my willpower and my intensity do work I have a little few techniques that I use here and there but for the most part for this ADCC man which is trying to so as I can just going balls to the walls every single match and working for every every advantage I got yeah
