hello everyone and welcome to the golden Playbook of retention and in this video we're going to be discussing membership events so some of you might have already been implementing this or kind of been dabbling with membership events in the past um in this video I'm going to discuss why it's so powerful um you know membership events that you can Implement in your business for free um and how to set everything up and the best strategy that comes to it membership events doing this is such an amazing easy and almost free strategy that is going to
increase your retention and decrease your attrition to massive levels it's just such a great weight um to really build a community and a culture which which we've discussed in this module um using this membership events is a key strategy and it's going to help you a lot in this business um in your business really so here's what here's what we're going to cover monthly member events so um you're going to be we're going to be setting up you're going to be setting up one member event every single month so you're going to do 12 a
year and the power of that is um I it's not it's you can't even comprehend it it's such a great strategy so the things we're going to discuss is important things to remember with member events um the schedule of it what do the best member events have in common free member event ideas workshops that you can Implement immediately into your business and schedule out and plan how to structure your team around member events how to plan member events announcing your events um and the strategy that comes with that and the benefits from hosting me member
events so let's get to it let's get straight to the point so important things to remember always host a monthly membership event consistency with this is very important and it doesn't have to be huge it doesn't have to be this massive thing every month but doing it every month is key and trust me this is going to affect your attrition numbers in such a massive way because what you're doing here with membership events what membership events really do is it builds a community it builds a culture not only between your team but also your members
and it's going to really um you know people are just going to fall in love with your gym and everything and the entire day about it right and events don't need to be expensive you just want the entire Community together it's more important important that you get as many people to show up to these events than on how much you spend on them and how much how fancy they really are right and you want to get your entire team and staff involved as well because this it also builds team culture and team community and makes
people care and makes your team care even more about your brand um when they um are involved with these events as well and you want to use your facility for workshops seminars and events right you a lot of people what we see with gym owners is you know they do membership events but they hire all these like uh different places and these huge Halls um to host membership events while you can easily use your facility um and cut cost and overhead right um plan events well into the future so people can actually put it in
their calendar 3 to 6 months ahead right you really want to plan your membership events really for five months ahead and you want to announce the those events four to five months ahead as well you really need to plan this stuff out um but when when you've done it you you know you know what's in the calendar it's all planned and ready to go and you can just you know um you know take action on that entire plan when the day comes but you really want to do you really want to plan forward with this
stuff you're going to want to announce these events ton right because High attendance is the most important factor here you don't want 10% of your members there you want 20 30 40 50% of your members there at least um and that's why you're going to want to announce the crap out of this so people get a constant reminder of it and you want to spend the time on SCH on planning and scheduling these events instead of the money I'm not looking for I'm not just adding another expense to your business you want to spend the
time there's no need to spend a boatload of cash for member events as I'm going to show you a couple examples in a second that are completely free to do or at least will only cost you like 20 30 bucks so schedule host an event or Workshop every month without fail without fail you want to host one every month and try promoting it every single day and I'm not talking about running ads to schedule your event but simply just talking in the gym uh uh you know to your group classes sending an email posting in
the Facebook group is key and I'm want to show you exactly the things that you can do the strategies and the things that you can um the platforms that you can use and stuff like that and how many times you should use it um in a later slide but this is a very key thing right because this shows your member's consistency from your side and keeps momentum and engagement in the gym highp because what you're going to be doing is you're going to be building real hype every single month um because you're announcing it um
and promoting it every single month it's going to be build a lot of hype and engagement for before that event before it actually comes which is massive because that's going to boost show up and attendance right um build a great gym culture you know and Vibrant Community the member events really build a great gym culture and a Vibrant Community like nothing else member events are the best when it comes to that objective which is exactly what we want because we've discussed when you build a great gym culture and get a Vibrant Community your members will
stick around for the long term okay um and you want to have the dates reserved 6 months ahead of time so your members can plan ahead put it in their calendar and your team can as well right so what do the best member events have in common the best member events are planned out and organized right a really well planned get together is much more fun and impactful right you're the owner here you have to take the responsibility you need to plan all this stuff to the core and you can't just wing it on the
day this is very important right an expensive doesn't equal successful right if something is poorly planned it could have the adverse effect on your culture or gym than what you're looking for right so make sure that it's very important that these things and that you've planned it out really well because if you don't you're going to get actually negative results on this and people are actually going to leave faster so doing membership events um some could say it's risky but I prefer you know I would say it's not because you know if you just plan
this stuff out well there's no risk of you messing up right and you want to take take the time to think of every scenario and make sure everything is taken care of you're the owner here take responsibility you can also have your team members help with this stuff but you need to plan the plan this stuff really well and go into the details right so free member event ideas so for instance you can do hikes um you know hikes you know member walks um you know you can just do like a a 10 konet work
walk a hike or 5 km hike um and here's some things that you want to do for that you want to plan the trail you want to do the trail beforehand you want to actually have done it and see that it's possible for your members it's not too tough not too easy right um it's actually a fun trail to do make sure the weather is good right you can't plan that 6 months ahead but just you can check a couple of days before and that they you know rain and stuff is fine but just make
sure that it isn't like storming um that tornadoes are like uh 100 yards away from you guys you want to plan a start time and also actually an end time right you know end time can vary a little bit but definitely plan a start time um tell everyone's staff and members H how long it will take I don't know I don't know why it says how it will take how long it will take right um so they can plan ahead and make sure that that's all put in their calendar and they don't have any Employments
or you know kids and all that sort of stuff um you know if it's going to take 2 hours let them know it's take going to take 2 hours let them know what they should bring with them sport gear Jacket Water etc etc right and plan for parking or Transportation right maybe your parking lot just isn't big enough if you get like 100 people to attend so figure out a way to get to to get that sorted bring a medkit right a must have right there's always there always especially on a hike that something can
happen like 99% of the time nothing will but you want to make sure if it does people maybe stop there maybe you know they cut themselves or something like that have a med kit ready and snacks extra water and stuff like that is a great thing as well and that's something you can do for the promotion as well like hey guys we're doing an amazing member event hike um and we also have free snacks which is just a great way to get people people on because um if there's one way to just get people to
show up is to just offer them free food right okay another one charity runs these are amazing you know 5Ks 10ks 3ks Etc right pick a charity pick plan the route put out Direction Flags so people you know running in the right direction um do the run yourself first right you can also walk it get permission from the city and town right if it's a small town and you're going to do like 200 members in a run make sure that this is all well planned out maybe you want to do some um maybe you want
to block off a road or you know have some stop signs set there you know talk with the town in the uh talk with the town um to get that all sorted right and that's why you want to plan ahead because if you do the if you plan this six months ahead you can easily get that sorted out um print out a route and um print out a route and map right so people can uh you know have that use that it's also for team members have water at the halfway point right it's a great
great thing to do and use coaches as Pacers right so make sure coaches follow and run with you with them and motivational support right some people are going it's going to be very tough for them so coaches are there to um not only lead the way but also help people that are kind of you know that are having a tough time with it and have a fun area for the kids you know sometimes you know you know if you want to get 100 members to show up you know a lot of these people have kids
right get a get an area where a coach or yourself will actually look after the kids and they can have fun while they can do the um charity run right um Power and kid defense another great way right pick a workout make sure it's safe explain to parents you know use a flyer just you know edit a little flyer you can use canva.com completely free you can make a bunch of Flyers right have kid save music like you know no rap songs with a lot of swear words and stuff like that um short activities uh
focus on the fun instead of really you know the the the um the workout focus on the fun make sure that it's fun for the parents and the kids um and really preferably more for the kids than for the parents because when the kid get when the kids Happy the parents get happy um it's just uh you know so that's a great way to do that um parent and kids have to work together that's you know that that's a great way to do that um builds a bond between the member and the kids um which
in turn will build build a bond between the member and the and the gym itself and the community right and snacks again free food is a great way to get people to show up and get a High attendance um all right fundraiser find a Cause right fundraiser you know for for um for a good cause find a cause to donate to accept donations for tickets right do like $5 $10 tickets um and this can just be you know a simple event at your gym doesn't have to involve any working out collect prizes for people who've
maybe donated extra who bought more tickets right you don't for this for fundraisers you don't only need members people can bring their family members and their friends um and if they all donate just make sure that like there's free food there and conversation and music maybe something like that um collect prizes right for the people for the for the highest for the people who um bought the most tickets um builds a community focus on the fun and this is just you know free food again this this right here a fundraiser like that is massive it's
going to help you in a great way all right so get creative and have fun with it pause this video and think of five member event ideas and post them in the Facebook group right now right like we're not going to give you 24 member event ideas eventually you're just going to have to figure this stuff out yourself but it's not rocket science right just figure out fun stuff like I've seen events where it's simply just setting up a couple couches buying a few snacks and just watching the watching uh watching the game together on
Saturday or Friday right setting up a big you know a big TV screen you know one of those screens and one of those projectors and just having everyone watch the game that is more than enough and that going to cost you like 30 40 bucks to um to do so how to structure your team around member events tell your entire team events are mandatory unless they have prepr time out you really want to make sure that your team is there um to not only help you out but to also enjoy enjoy it right um and
make sure you pay them if work is required so if there's actual work required right maybe they have to run maybe they have to coach and stuff like that then of course just pay him but sometimes it's just a fun um after hours event right where they can you know watch the game or just relax and enjoy and have good conversation and food right give them the same schedule you are giving to clients so they can save the dates date as well right that that's why you want to plan ahead and you want to print
this stuff out and give it to members and also the coaches um and they will have fun trust me they will have fun they always do you just want to make sure that they show up and you know uh get there and this will strengthen not only your member culture but also that of your teams okay so how to plan member events your gym can be used to host events that you would normally have to rent a place for just put put it in some hours to make it look good right A lot of people
run out spaces and stuff for this but most of you guys have a large enough gym or facility you just need a little bit of moving around to host these things there right don't waste unnecessary funds on stuff like that you can you can do it in the facility and switch it up between inside and outside events right you can do some outside events inside events make sure they they that that events aren't repetitive so make them fresh make them new switch it up month per month right and plan events on a Saturday morning when
a 10 is at its highest if possible to build up momentum and kick in a high show ratio if you're looking for the best time like you met most of you already know to get people to show up and get a High attendance it's on a Saturday um it's on a Saturday morning um and that's it if you have a better spot maybe your classes for some reason are all on Sunday the best or on Monday or Tuesday then obviously just make it Tuesday or Monday or Sunday right but for most of you very confident
that's going to be Saturday morning announcing your events here's when and where you should be announcing so you want to have Flyers um at the gym and on social media you want to um you want to announce it before and after class on a daily basis just you know a simple sentence hey guys we have an event on the 31st um you know I still have a ton of spots left um you know just uh here's a flyer and um you know show up or make them sign up right which is even better you know
get a little bit of an get a little bit of an action so people are kind of already a little bit committed and have a little bit in the game not really but you know it's um it's a psychology thing so having people actually sign up um is a great way to do that instead of just giving them Flyers right um You can post it in the Facebook group biweekly or just weekly um you know just a little announcement with a little link where they can sign up um admission tickets so cards just give them
out uh you can send texts as well you know using your CRM or high level orientations for three free trial members and challenges like there's no reason why your challenges right the people who are maybe doing some transformation programs or your free trial members can't be part of this because that if you know if they if you haven't closed them yet on day one then trust me a member event it's going to definitely going to get them there um because they're going to love the culture they're going to love the community um and they're going
to think like this is amazing like I'm working out I'm getting results and this is also fun with a ton of amazing people um that I love talking with I love being around right and each announcement should include directions on how to sign up uh you know signup sheet on the wall online form website text Etc you know it's kind of up to you and you want to send out reminders give directions or in uh or instructions if needed so if it's like a hike or 5K or something like that you know where instructions and
directions are needed maybe you guys aren't meeting up at the gym but at some other sort of space make sure that is all planned out all sent out and that's announced and people know exactly that that's going on right um very important so benefits from hosting M fence don't forget about having excellent delivery on events it will make it so much easier to pack the house next time right you might your first member event might not be the greatest might not be an attendance that you um might not be the attendance rate that you would
like have like to see but if that is if that member event is an amazing experience for the people that did show up trust me your second member event is already going to be a lot bigger right because members talk a lot and word travels fast right and you want to take a ton of pictures including group picks of every event these pictures you can post in the Facebook group to motivate people who didn't show for next time right exactly you know what I just talked about and this is also which is just an added
benefit great for marketing and ads and hanging up at the gym builds a community builds a culture and people just love that type of stuff group photos and just you know have have your iPhone there and just make make um make photos just in between the event and and at the end you can do a group pick and those picks are always the best converting ads I can tell you that right now right and it showcases your culture which is another thing that we're trying to build so that was this video um you know get
to it get write down five ideas post them in the Facebook group um and start planning this out with your team this isn't rocket science does require work shouldn't require money um but it is such a great you know if you want to increase your retention work is going to be involved right I I can't stress this enough you're going to have to work a little bit more um or you know your team members to boost your attention but what what are we trying to do here we're trying to generate more Revenue keep our clients
happy keep getting them results um and that requires some work it isn't just an easy ad and you know um done you know retention isn't um isn't some sort of scientific plan that you can just kind of put in it does require you know some creative thinking and stuff like that and daily consistent work on it um I'll see you guys in the next video move over to the next training um and I'll see you there goodbye
