hey everybody hope you guys healthy and safe so I've been covering the smart glasses scene for about seven or eight years now at the beginning these glasses weren't really that smart they were really just like portable wearable displays plug into an iPad or smartphone and you mirror your screen very useful but not that smart really but about a couple years ago we started getting real smart glasses probably due to the rise of large language AI models and improvements in Optical display technology so for example in the last year or so I've tested these the frame
by brilliant Labs or the X2 or the inmo Air 2 all three of these are smart glasses that will project text in front of my eyes and also has an AI assistant that can answer question all three of these glasses use the same display technology they're called waveguide technology meaning the display is actually embedded into the lens in a prism so that means even if they're not in use the prism is always in front of my face I can see it like right now I am not getting a completely unobstructed field of view because I
can see the prism and if light hits it at certain angles it will reflect light in a very distracting way like a lens flare and on top of that because the prism technology is just on the lens that means if somebody is sitting right across from me and they really want to like look closer they may be able to see the words or the visuals on the screen so that could be a privacy issue so that's what sets the newest pair of AI glasses apart from everybody else so these are the holiday AI glasses world's
first proactive AI smart glasses with an invisible display what does that mean invisible display that means right now I'm going turn it on I can see text in front of me right now there's like a UI in front of me but nobody else can see it even if somebody is right across from me inches away looking straight at me they cannot see the screen that's because the screen is not embedded on the lens but instead it is in a tiny module measuring only 3.6 mm in size right here at the top of the frame that
means I do have to look up to see the screen because they're not part the lens but that makes the display completely hidden from everybody else not to mention if freeze up the lens to be normal lens and that's good thing for people who may need prescriptions because if you want to get a prescription lens you can just take these glasses to a glasses shop anywhere and just get a lens put in or if you accidentally drop and shatter your lens you can swap out a new one at any glasses store in your neighborhood that
is not the case with with these guys because the lens has the microprism display in there so that means if you damage this you can't bring this to your local glasses shop you have to bring these back to the company R Neo in China and pay them to swap out the lens with a entire new display module in there so it's going to be a lot more expensive not to mention who knows how long you have to wait so that's a major benefit of the fact that the display is not built into the lens in
fact this is a prototype pair of glasses I've been testing there are no lens in there because I actually have perfect vision I don't need prescription glasses at all so that's the invisible display part but what about the proactive AI what is that so basically this glasses you have to pair it to a smartphone to use and when you pair it to a smartphone you'll be connected to holidays AI agent and you can ask it questions like you would Siri or Google Assistant but there's also a way that you can turn on proactive mode and
when you turn on proactive mode that means the glasses will be listening more often will be aware of your surroundings and if you're having a conversation let's say you say something that's completely wrong let's say you're like huh is Japan part of Europe I'm not sure the glasses May charm in and be like no man Japan's part of Asia not Europe now if you don't like that you think that's a little bit weird you can always turn that off and just use the AI as a reactive AI meaning you have to summon it before it
will listen and answer your questions so the invisible display and the proactive AI set these glasses apart from everybody else and the CES they were very popular in fact The Verge Mashable and CET I think they singled out the holiday AI glasses for Praise of all the other glasses on the show floor so anyway let's take a look at the overall Hardware so H the AI glasses are very lightweight at 35 G that's less than half the weight like 1/3 of the weight actually of the raino X2 which are like 120 g and then on
top of that the H AI glasses are you know I would say they're still slightly thicker than a normal conventional pair of glasses but they are thin enough that they don't look particularly bulky they don't look like it's cram with electronics I can wear these outside and I think people would think they're just normal glasses they just make me look like I am a fan of Weezer which I am actually the blue album is one of the best albums of the 9s so these glasses are very comfortable to wear with a flexible hinge so you
can see the temples you can open them quite wide so even if you have a wider head it will fit comfortably it's not squeezing into your skull the display as mentioned is just located at the top of the right frame and this module can actually be adjusted it up or down or you can push it left or right so it's flexible enough that it should be able to fit most people's eyes and if somehow you cannot find the perfect fit by adjusting the hardware you can go into the companion app and use software to further
shift the screen left or right up or down to make sure that it fits exactly where your eye is when you look up so the fact that these glasses have adjustable diopters that means if you have myopia or hyperopia the module can rotate to match your eyesight the range ranges from 800 to +200 now it's very hard for me to show exactly what I see from the screen because I mean it's so tiny the this camera is not going to be able to grab Focus I have to stick a smartphone in there just to be
able to get Focus but I can tell you that the screen appears sharp and relatively large to my eyes so even though the module is so small IT projects a screen that when I'm looking at it from this close it looks to be about a 3.5 in screen so I would say in real life the screen car looks like to be like about like like this big so just large enough and it's like right above my eye that if I look up I can see the words clearly and this display module also gets very very
bright in fact throughout my entire time of use I left the screen brightness at 3% or 5% because anything above that is unnecessary even at 3 or 5% I can see the screen very clearly I can see the screen outside so you can control the glasses using the touch sensitive panel on the right side of the arm so this supports swipes Taps and double Taps and there's also a physical clicky button down here that you can press to turn on or off the screen however holidate has designed a smart ring for you to control the
glasses because holiday thinks it's a lot more immersive if you can just wear the ring and control the glasses without needing to always use your hand to swipe through the glasses I will talk about the ring a little bit more let's look at the rest of the hardware so these glasses they have its own battery obviously and to charge the glasses there's actually a USBC port located at the end of the right arm I love that because one of my biggest complaints about testing other smart glasses is they all use proprietary charging cables so that
means if you travel you have to bring an extra cable with you if you lose that cable you probably cannot charge these glasses anymore unless you order another one from the company so the fact that this uses USBC it's freaking awesome because now when I travel I don't need to worry about bringing a cable just for the holiday AI glasses because the same cable that charges my laptop and my smartphone can charge the glasses and on a single charge these glasses can run for 12 hours which is longer than any other AI glasses I've tested
yet because this Optical module is much more energy efficient than the waveguide technology used by the other to there also speakers located at the bottom of each arm that pump out pretty Solid Audio I would say these speakers are designed for voice not so much for music you can use it to listen to music but it's it's not going to sound as good as like airpods of course so as mentioned holiday thinks the best way to use the glasses it's by using the smart ring and to that end the ring works very well so there's
also a touch sensitive panel here it's basically the same as the panel on the glasses but just on the ring so it supports Taps swipes and physical presses and when you physically press into it it's there's a clicky mechanism that feels like you're pressing a button so it's kind of fun it's I can almost see myself using it as like a fidget toy if I'm just sitting here just pressing onto the button however what I just said earlier about not liking proprietary charging cables that unfortunately does apply to the ring so to charge the ring
you have to use a proprietary charging cable but holiday is promising that for the retail package they will include a USBC adapter so you can at least use that cable with a USBC adapter but that's still an extra thing that you have to carry with you but you know if you don't want to use the ring you don't have to use the ring these glasses are perfectly functional using the touch panel on the right arm so as mentioned to use the glasses you have to pair with a smartphone and holay has a companion app for
IOS and Android the app is very easy to use just couple of tabs you will connect and once you've connected um you don't really need to bring up the app every time you want to use it you can just use the glasses it will just be using the internet the data from your smartphone but if you do want to use the app you can see transcription of your conversation with the AI so that may be helpful but a lot of times I don't even need to use the app because I can speak to the AI
and then I can read the words up top oh and once paired with a smartphone this guy can also mirror notifications from your phone and you can choose which notifications to turn on or off so that's useful because I don't want to see like if somebody likes my Instagram photo I don't need to see that pop up there but I would like to be able to see what Whata messages or text messages or like Google Maps um navigation so if you have Google Maps turn BYT turn navigation you actually can see that here it'll be
like okay turn right on the next Street turn left after the 7-Eleven so it's quite useful but I have to give a lot of props to the AI assistant that's built into the holiday AI classes so holiday developed and fine-tuned this AI agent on its own and it's much faster than any other AI that I've used from smart glasses so so if you remember when I made the video on the frame and the raino X2 I complained that when I ask a question sometimes I would have to wait like five or six or S seconds
before I get an answer and that's just too long to use in real life especially if I'm trying to uh interpret different languages but I'm happy to report the holiday AI is much faster you can see right here when I ask it a question it is able to respond in 1 to two second hey what's 600 Japanese yend to us St I'm in Bangkok right now is there a place I can get good coffee okay where can I go buy some shoes how far is changai from Bangkok when is Chinese New Year what's the weather
right now in San Francisco I can see that har the AI is answering my questions correctly too now in addition to AI system there's also a translation or interpretation app so basically you can select from a list of languages and then after that these glasses will listen for that language and then interpret that back into English in text form on the screen so if I pick Chinese for example then somebody can speak Chinese and I can read the words here in English you can see it works relatively fast too I'm speaking very poor Mandarin and
it's converting to English in like under a second or two you got some more I'm going to speak in English now and the glasses is going to show Chinese well look at how fast it is going have you had dinner yet so the fact that these glasses are so lightweight and the screen doesn't really get into your way it means that you can wear these all day even if you're not really using it so I wore it when I was riding my bicycle and it's awesome to be able to still see my notifications and also
Google Maps navigation like it's great I don't have to take out my phone in the middle of a bike ride there are a couple more us cases with the glasses including using as a Tor prompter so basically if I have to give a speech on stage or even if I'm filming a YouTube video a lot of times YouTubers will have a script they have to read right so I can put that script into the glasses you have to do it VI the companion app and then the words will show up on the screen then I
can just glance at the screen and read along with the script to talk to the camera so ultimately I think the har the AI glasses are the most feasible and functional pair of AI glasses I tested yet for four reasons number one because they're actually lightweight and comfortable to wear number two they're actually discreet like they're not super bulky and the screen is not visible from the outside so I can actually wear these around people and nobody would know unless I tell them and then number three the AI is actually very fast if I ask
it a question I can expect to have an answer within 1 to 2 seconds not 6 or 7 seconds and then number four battery life is is really good at 12 hours like the frame I actually like these a lot but the battery life is like 2 hours man oh yeah and there's a fifth reason for people who need prescription glasses you can put a prescription lens on here very easily at any glasses shop although I don't need to cuz I have perfect vision so yeah these are the holiday AI glasses if you're interested I
have a link in the description below I really like these and I can see why it got so much Buzz at CES yeah that's about it for now I have a lot more content coming so if you enjoy this video please consider subscribing to my Channel it will help me a lot thanks for watching
