hey everyone and welcome to my Channel today Z so today I'm going to show you how to make this starburst granny square which is a really fun pattern to learn and it's really cool once it's completed so before we get started I'd like to thank you for 100 subscribers it really means a lot to me knowing that you guys are watching my videos and that you like them so let's get into it you will need three colors of yarn I will be using purple mint green and teal yarn you will also need a crochet hook
I'll be using a 5 millimeter hook a sewing needle and scissors the stitches we will be using are the chain slip stitch half double crochet double crochet triple crochet and puff stitch so to make the starburst granny square we're gonna begin with this purple color so I'm gonna take my purple but you can use any other color that you want and make a slipknot then insert my crochet hook and pull then I'm gonna make a chain of five so to chain we yarn over and pull through that's one chain then two three four and five
then we're going to connect this chain with a slip stitch so we're gonna insert into this first chain that we did just right there so insert yarn over come out and pull through so now we have a little ring then we're going to chain three one two and three and do 15 at double crochet into the center of this ring so right into here so to do a double crochet go into yarn over insert into the ring yarn over come out which gives you three loops on the hook then you're going to yarn over pull
through two yarn over and pull through two so that's one double crochet again yarn over insert yarn over come out with three loops we aren't over pull through two yarn over and pull through two and this chain three is going to count as one of our double crochet so total we're going to have 16 stitches so 15 double crochet and one chain three so just continue all the way around until you have the 16 stitches so now I have my 16 stitches which is 15 double crochet and 1 chain 3 so now we're going to
do a slip stitch into the third chain of the chain 3 so you're the first second and third chain we're just going to insert yarn over come out and pull through then one chain one pull and cut with our scissors and now we're done with this little purple section so now if you want to you can weave in the ends but I'm just going to leave it in after I've done three of the rounds next I'm going to attach this teal color to the purple so I'm gonna insert my crochet hook into this stitch but
it can be any stitch that you'd like I just usually do two over from where we ended off so I'm going to insert unto the V wrap it around the hook and pull through and make a knot so that it's secure then I'm gonna insert into that same stitch yarn over come out just to get the loop back on the hook then I'm going to chain three one two three and then I'm gonna do a puff stitch and each of the double crochet stitches that we did earlier so you're gonna yarn over insert into that
same place yarn over it come out so we've three loops and then you're gonna pull to make this longer and again you're gonna yarn over insert your and over come out and then pull a little bit yarn over insert yarn over come out and pull so now we're gonna have seven loops we're going to iron over and pull through all seven loops then we're going to chain one and do the next so again we're gonna yarn over insert yarn over come out and we're gonna pull and you want to kind of keep it loose so
it's easier to pull the other ones we insert into the stitch three times so that's one yarn over insert you ever come out pull so that's to your over insert your note come out and that's three then we're gonna yarn over and pull through all of them and then chain one that's our second puff stitch let's do one more yarn over insert yarn over come out pull yarn over insert yarn over come out pull yarn over insert and over come out and pull so again we have seven stitches and we insert it into the stitch
three times then we aren't over pull through all seven loops yarn over and come out and then we also use this puff stitch in the puff flower tutorial so that's another video of mine that you can check out so we've done our three and you're going to go around until you've done sixteen so complete that and I'll check back with you once you've done it so now that you finish the sixteen puff stitches we're going to do one slip stitch into the third chain of the original chain three so we're just gonna insert at the
top yarn over come out and pull through so we just finish this row we're going to chain one pull and cut it so this is our second round so now we're going to do the next round which is with the green color so I'm going to insert my crochet hook into this stitch right here so you're not inserting it into a stitch but you're doing it in the gaps of the puff stitches so I'm going to insert my hook right in between at these two then I'm going to wrap the yarn around my hook and
make a knot then you're gonna insert into the gap yarn over come out then you're gonna chain three sweep one two and three and then you're going to do a stitch that I don't know the name of so basically it's where you do half of the double crochet stitch multiple times it sounds confusing but you'll get the hang of it so you run over insert yarn over come out so we have three loops on the hook yarn over and pull through only the first two then you're gonna yarn over again insert your and over come
out show you four loops yarn over and pull through only the first two then again yarn over insert your nobert come out so we have one two three four five loops yarn over and pull through only the first two so now we have four loops then yarn over and pull through all four and then chain two so in this stitch you're doing the first part of the double crochet four times except for this first stitch where we did it three times and this chain three counted as one part of it so we're gonna do it
again yarn over insert into the gap between the puff stitches yarn over come out sweet free loops yarn over pull through two yarn over insert turnover come out four stitches yarn over pull through two so we've done it twice and when you do it two more times yarn over insert air and over come out five loops yarn over pull through only the first two three four yarn over and search your and over come out yarn over and pull through only the first two so you're gonna have five loops at the end of it that's usually
how I keep track because it's just easier to see the five loops instead of two count how many you've done which is four so then we're going to yarn over and pull through all five loops and chain two so we'll do one more so yarn over insert yarn over come out yarn over pull through only the first two yarn over insert yarn over come out yarn over and pull through two sweet three we do two more and over insert yarn over come out yarn over and pull through two four one more yarn over insert yarn
over come out yarn over and pull through two so now we have five and we are done inserting then we're going to yarn over and pull through all five loops and chain two so this is a stitch there you're going to do all the way around until you get back here and you're gonna do it into the gaps between the puff stitches so just continue doing the stitch all the way around until you've done sixteen okay so now I've done all 16 of these stitches and I've also done the chain two now I'm going to
slip stitch into the stitch after the original chain three that we did and I'm slip stitching into this particular stitch because I think it looks better than slip stitching into the third chain at the chain three alright so then I'm gonna chain one and pull then cut with my scissors so now we've done the circle portion of this now we're going to do at the part that will make it a square but first we're going to weave in all of the ends so I'll meet you back once I've done that so now that we have
weaved in all the ends we're going to do the white part the we'll make it a square so I'm just going to insert into one of these little gaps and get to my white yarn and make a knot just like attaching with all the other rows I'm gonna insert into that same gap yarn over and come out now we're going to do three triple crochet into the same hole but first used to do a chain of four two three four and now we're going to do two into this gap so two triple crochet we yarn
over twice insert yarn over come out so you have four loops on this hook yarn over pull through two three yarn over pull through two now two loops yarn over and pull through the last two so that's a chain of four and one triple crochet then we yarn over twice insert your and over come out yarn over pull through two yarn over pull through two and over pull through two so you have this triple crochet and then we're going to do double crochet so yarn over insert yarn over come out and over pull through two
and over pull through two until we have three in that little gap then in the next one we're gonna do half double crochet so yarn over insert yarn over come out and over and pull through all three loops so do it until you have three half double crochet then in the next one we're gonna do double crochet yarn over insert yarn over come out and over pull through two yarn over and pull through two then we're going to do three triple crochet into this gap so yarn over twice and cert yarn over come out and
over pull through two and over pull through two yarn over and pull through two so we do a triple crochet double crochet half double crochet double crochet and then triple crochet and then to make the corners we are going to chain three and do three more triple crochet into the same hole you're gonna go all the way around doing double crochet half double crochet then more double crochet then triple crochet chain three triple crochet so I meet you back once you've done this side okay so now we've done this side we did triple crochet double
crochet half double crochet double crochet and triple crochet so again it doing the stitches with different heights makes this straight edge which forms the different sides of our square so just continue all the way around to make the rest of the granny square and then one thing to note is that we're only doing chains into this corner it's not like a regular granny square where in between you do chains so here you would go from double crochet straight to the triple crochet and then here you would do chains so make sure not to do chains
in between so I'll meet you back once you've completed all of the sides so now I've done all the sides and I'm going to chain 3 and slip stitch into the fourth chain of this chain 4 so right up here in the top yarn over come out and pull through then I'm going to chain one pull and then cut with the scissors now I'm just going to weave in the end so now we are done with the starburst granny square we started in the center when we chained five then we did 15 double crochet along
with a chain 3 to make 16 stitches then we did 16 puff stitches and 16 of this unknown stitch where it's kind of doing half of the first portion of double crochet and you have four times again comment down below if you know the name of the stitch and then for the border in white which makes the square portion we did triple crochet double crochet half double crochet double crochet triple crochet chain3 triple crochet and that's our square so one thing that's really fun to do is to make a lot of them and put them
all together to make a blanket and then also you can do different combinations of the three colors so I made three different types and it'd be really cool to make a blanket like that with all of those different colors so those are just some ideas for you to make and then also I made a video on how to join granny squares together and you could use that to join all of these together and make a blanket thank you so much for watching this video if you liked it please give it a thumbs up please subscribe
to our channel down below and I'll see you next week bye
