okay so this video I'm maybe going to slightly contradict um a couple of things I've said in earlier videos about space and take the line you want to take to the ball but if you watch a lot of top players someone like Greg gotier um or many of the top players now the games becoming so much faster they're not actually letting the ball get get into the back corner so particularly what they're doing from the tea is taking a really direct line to the ball but then relying on their strength their stability Al training to
get themselves into a really solid strong position which allows them to get their wrist behind the ball so they end often end up getting in this position here using a really solid strong wrist position you've heard me talk a lot about um kind of having this semic coocked wrist position this I think is where it really comes into its own where you're allow able to straighten that ball up from behind you so you can see this point my racket is actually perpendicular to the side wall which means if I hit the ball in that position
the ball's going to go perfectly straight so by getting that wrist position in or wrist in that position I can actually stay really close to the te do less work but allow myself to hit the ball nice and straight so you'll see a lot of top players using this tactic someone like Greg G as a classic example really strong great rist position you know he starts in this position anyway but this movement pattern allows him to stay close to the T and then straighten the ball up Ed quite a lot of whip whip and um
you know his strong wrist position to follow through down that line he wants the ball to go on but then he will send the ball back into the back corner with pace so his opponent may have thought they've hit a decent length but he's actually cut it off taking it quick and in turn has just put more pressure on his opponent so it's definitely a more advanced way to to get the ball out of the back corner or B or even prevent the ball from getting into the back corner but kind of taking a more
direct line doing a little bit less work yourself but relying on strong technique um and a strong body position to then put pressure on your opponent and attack them from what they may have thought might have been an attacking position themselves so I'm going to just give you a couple of examples here try and demo it and uh and see what it looks like so you can see I've got that ball really nice and straight was that taking that direct line to the back corner hit the ball from there but then in one step I'm
essentially back on the te and in the rally looking to put pressure on my opponent
