[MUSIC] Okay, so now we're going to cover off taper. What does it do, and why is it in so many boards? So, taper in a board is the difference between its nose and tail width.
The nose and tail width of a snowboard work together to impact the overall ride. A large taper will cause the nose to rise and the tail to drop. What's great about taper is that you can feel it.
It helps you initiate a turn but also accelerates you out of the turn, leading in into your next turn. So, linking turns is a lot easier traditionally on a tapered snowboard. Taper can vary in sizes.
In the beginner and intermediate sections we're going to look at around 5 mm of taper to begin with, and then on something like this bad boy like the Fish 3D, you're going to find 30 mm of taper at the board. These technologies are incredible. Taper is fantastic both for intermediate, powder, and everyday riding, so you can see why it's in many of our snowboards and has advantages to all types of riders.
