welcome in this video I'm going to show leaders and chain Champions how they can synergize the core belief cycle and nonviolent communication to overcome conflicts and resistance in the workplace let's get into it so over 80% of workplace conflicts are actually rooted in poor communication and 84% of people say when businesses make changes they are communicated poorly so that's a shocking statistic that should really make you invest in better communication more effective communication for leading change there are two strategies that we're going to talk about in this video that I want you to get on
with first the core belief cycle behind me on the white board is our sense making of the world we have values and beliefs which are fairly new unique to ourselves that drive thoughts and stories that's our if then kind of road map our GPS through the world they will cause us to feel certain emotions which then lead to certain actions and behaviors just think about like how fear will make us do different things then Joy will make us do different things based on our behaviors we experience the world and that shapes our memories and it
will reinforce our grooves our neurop Pathways our values and beliefs so that in itself can be a really great tool to be better aware of how how you see the world and to re-evaluate occasionally how you make sense of the world as well communicating your co- belief cycle also helps you to raise empathy and understanding for one another but that's not where I'm going to stop with this video if you liked it so far give it a thumbs up and we'll get straight into nonviolent communication nonviolent communication has been created by Marshall Rosenberg and he
divided communicators into wolves and giraffes most of our work world is probably more so driven by wolf language where we interpret the world with our core belief cycle and we make certain judgments and from that derive certain strategies and put demands on others but others don't always fit into our sense making system and that's where we see conflicts and also resistance pop up in the workplace what we want to do instead is really be self-aware tap into empathy and express what we are feeling and what we're seeing for that we're going to s iiz the
two tools together we're going to be really curious about a core belief cycle and then we're going to voice it or express it using a nonviolent communication statement or also often called an eye statement an eye statement is a Formula where we start with our observations what we see and hear we then explicitly call out our feelings in response to what we see and hear we voice our gut our needs and then we put out a request a request that can be fulfilled or not fulfilled by the other person I want to share with you
two different scripts from an employee and a Leader's perspective that will demonstrate how you can synergize the core belief cycle and nonviolent communication to really facilitate open empathic and effective communication during times of change at work so let's say an employee is experiencing frustration due to sudden business changes and that in turn has increased his workload so the employee can then use these two tools to say when I see our business change direction frequently without clear communication I feel stressed and overwhelmed this is because I need stability and Clarity so I can manage my workload
efficiently and contribute to our team success would you please provide more consistent updates and involve Us in the decision- making process this way I can better adjust my priorities and maintain high quality work now let's say you're a leader and you notice your team's morale is low productivity is decreasing due to the uncertainty and stress caused by an ongoing business transformation you can use the core belief cycle and the nonviolent communication statement as well as tools you could say when I hear concerns about job security and observe a decrease in team productivity and morale I
