I had psychosis so um I was not deeply in touch with reality for a while um and it like took me out of life in a big way and after like a lot of years of hard work I like got myself back Lady Gaga shocking little monsters with a mental health confession on the New York Times the interview I think when you like get depressed or you go through a hard time that um when you come out on the other side you just are like so grateful to feel that lightness again and and it's it's
helped me just feel really appreciative of the life that I have the singer reveals she was diagnosed with psychosis 5 years ago and credits her fiance Michael palansky for supporting her on her healing Journey it was a really hard time um and I it was actually really really special when I met my partner because when I met Michael I was like in a much better place when I met him but I remember him saying to me like pretty early on um you know you I know you could be a lot happier than you are and
I just I was really hard for me to hear him say that because I didn't want him to think that of me you know I wanted him to think I was like this happy um just just totally together person and I wasn't really yet yeah I mean it's awesome you know like we we we do everything together and like he's a really beautiful person like he's my best friend um he's incredibly brilliant I the doctor I can cure your disase if you were a I could make you Gaga also opening up about the stigma surrounding
mental health and encouraging others so not let it hold them back I think I hate feeling defined by it it's like a ghost of yourself that's what that's what it felt like to me like like something I felt ashamed of um but I don't think that we should feel ashamed if we go through times like that and I mostly just wish to say like if you have been through something like that or you are it like it can get better um and it and it did for me and I'm I'm really grateful for that
