[Music] I need to take a moment and just talk about Soumik magic the Book of Psalms as a as a magical tool it's something that that causes people to look askance occasionally what do you mean Book of Psalms on both sides of the aisle so to speak on one side the the the people who for whom the Bible is their sacred texts and their religions when they hear about the Book of Psalms being used as a spell book they they are aghast and then on the other hand the witches who are used to other books
to magic when you talk about using the Psalms as an entire system of magic they're like are you freaking crazy what are you talking about so I just wanted to take a moment and and and discuss why and how and what all right so the Book of Psalms is a part as is included in as a book within the Bible in the Old Testament now for whatever reason there has come an entire tradition within magical practitioners of all types but as bet but but specifically within within the what has been come to known become has
come to be known as the traditional witchcraft traditions of of Europe and America now how this happened no one is absolutely certain but there is conjecture that not only during the witch burnings but but throughout all of the the rise in prominence of the the Church of Rome the Christian Church of Rome people of the old faiths were persecuted no it's true that the Christians were persecuted as well but it could be argued that they kind of had it good we don't we don't want to go there we don't want to go there I don't
I don't I do not have any any opinion about about anybody's religion or any of that but the book of psalms has become self contained within itself not not necessarily even concerned always with the rest of the Bible and it's possible according to tradition it's true but it's possible that the the the Book of Psalms was a refuge for people of the old crafts to be able to hide in plain sight as it were to avoid persecution but still practice their magic because because it once you once you get into the depth of what the
Psalms are you realize that the tradition of the the Book of Psalms being the spell book of God or the spell book of the Bible is quite accurate and so the tradition also states within the craft that many if not all of the Psalms are based on more ancient workings of a know more ancient oral tradition now much like the the monks scribed a lot of the the druidic lore and a lot of those oral traditions from the from the Celts they didn't describe as much of it as we wish they had but they bet
if it weren't for those monks all of the or tradition from the from the Druids would have been gone so thank you monks but the Hebrews were also a scribing people the scribes were a big deal in Hebrew and not in in in the Hebraic faith so if those other those previous oral traditions were written down now the in the Bible King David was supposedly the the author of the Book of Psalms and then it was said what was the Moses must have been described the author of some of them and then oh then there
were some other authors but nobody can actually point to exactly when how or what it happened and the the craft practitioners hold that many if not all of them come from older traditions maybe from Canaan maybe from Babylonia probably from Egypt etc etc who knows but that's that that's the the tradition and so that the that so the magical the crap practitioners who who maintained their own connection with their own faith their own craft while working through the Christian churches of the day to escape persecution held on to that concept that the the Book of
Psalms is self-contained and is actually a plug in to the old faith and they work now whether any of or all of that is actually factually true or not but the tradition is quite powerful because well now I was lucky enough that my very first teacher in the craft was very adamant about using the Psalms in magic and back then I wasn't so interested in the Psalms because you know I didn't want Bible I wanted witchy wit chu itchy it's gotta be witchy or it's not powerful but she but she insisted that when she was
so good at getting results I mean that's why it was great to study with her because she could really make happen and she insisted that we use the Psalms now not only obviously she was you know it wasn't like only Psalms but that was a mainstay of the practice and so we did so begrudgingly and it wasn't until later that I appreciated why and what because she wasn't she didn't go into a lot of the traditions it was just do this because I said so do this and you'll get what you need so I'm very
fortunate that that was part of my early training because I'm grew up Catholic we didn't read the Bible you know the priests did that we I mean our catechism I think was sort of a joke I mean I I I know more about the the Bible and and the the religion of the the Christian faith and the Catholic faith I know more about it now as a as a practitioner within the craft looking at things magically then I ever was taught growing up in the church and and I was I liked the church up until
he started talking about sex and then I thought they were kind of out of their minds but that was just me it's just personal um but they didn't teach us to pray the Psalms I mean I wasn't that familiar with the Psalms other than you know hearing quotes from them and you know from the priesthood stuff but so I didn't really get into the Psalms until after I started working magic now here's another thing to consider not only are these Psalms composed amazingly well regardless of the translation all errors here and there the the composition
of these Psalms these were songs these were songs that were sung right but as as spells as as actual works of magic the way they're composed really takes you through different parts of your psyche to get from A to B to C to D to get you to your goal and that's why you can you can see there's many different powers ascribed to certain Psalms this you use you know some sixty-five for money and you Psalm 23:4 perfect for protection and prosperity Psalm 91 is protection you know all those things and it's true and and
we do we do there are certain Psalms that really get you to a certain place very quickly and and and you reap tangible results if you know how to do it right there's there's there's a way to do it magically verses religiously and the way that you do it magically is you read it out as well first of all you have to have an intention you have to have some sort of intention and then you then you then you find the psalm that's that you're gonna use you can figure you're finding the spell and you
read it out loud and I like the King James Version for that because it's it's very Shakespearean and it just speaks to me better than the other translations but you can use any translation you like in fact some of the other translations work better when you want to actually study the Psalms but for the actual invocation I'm sorry the actual incantation I personally prefer the King James Version but it doesn't matter you can use any translation you like so anyway so you you had the intention and then you read it out loud all the way
through once is reverently and prayerfully as possible just really get into it and then you go through each verse line by line and you consider what it means and what we say is that within each line there's a magical formula hidden there because the people that wrote these things down were smart there there were wise people I don't know if it was David I don't know if it was those older traditions upon which the Psalms were based I don't know where that came from it forever and mystery but I do know that within each of
these verses are magical formula that act like little seeds and if you deposit them deeply enough into the depths of your mind they start to grow and bear fruit in your life and so if you have that intention you get into that Psalm and you and you consider each thing line by line what are those in just mean what are those images what do they represent how do they how do they what are they speaking to and what we do with that is we take it personally that's the difference between reading a sum religiously versus
reading a psalm personally so oh I opened up to someone anyone look at that so we're not gonna go through the whole psalm here my glasses that's another reason why we're not gonna go through the whole song but but he that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty we have to take that personally so he that dwelleth means the person reading the psalm remains the which of the magician reading the psalm dwelleth meaning live a biting secret place that means nobody else knows most high within
our mind within our mind that place that most exalted part of ourselves shall abide again live under the shadow of the Almighty the Almighty is God and in our case does not mean God of the Hebraic faith it means the God of our understanding the God that reveals itself to us that can mean God that could mean goddess it can mean God and got us in fact if we wanted to really take this into into its craziness of hiding within the church Father Son and Holy Spirit means the Holy Family of which we are all
apart meaning mother father God Holy Spirit meaning the goddess father meaning the Father God and and and the son meaning us when we're taking it personally the shadow of the Almighty meaning in in that when you're in the desert where the with the the Psalms take place the Desert Sun is deadly so the shadow of the Almighty is bringing you relief is bringing is is protecting you protecting you from from from the Sun and then also symbolically meaning protecting you from anything that's going to be a harm to you and so that's how we read
it we personalize the song we personalize the sums we do not pray to an external deity in the Psalms we look at them magically and we understand that that God of the Psalms means the principle of life it means the principle of love it means the principle of substance et cetera etc etc and we and we dwell on those concepts and we recognize that the the God of those homes is personal to us that cares for us as a parent not as a father God even though in the Psalms that says father God because they
are restricted by that language but we understand it magically it means the God of our understanding how God reveals itself to us will be according to our needs right so that when we we when we are praying the Psalms we are not rebuking our like say you say that you're a priestess of Diana you're not rebuking Diana here it's the god of the god the father can be Diana speaking to you you just have to be mature enough and magical enough to be able to translate what that means so that you can get the benefit
from the soul so why bother wolf a the Psalms are amazing in their the way they were constructed to get results so if for no other reason they work and witches always go for what works I have never seen anything work as well as the Psalms and I've seen a lot it's going on 40 years in the craft I've seen a lot of different practices and a lot of them are amazing a lot of them really do work but nothing as consistently and dramatically as the results that you get from the Book of Psalms nothing
now why do you think that is yes part of it is because it is based on ancient ancient ancient truths older than older than the Bible okay be there have been so many people of so many faiths and so many cultures who have gone to the Psalms for help and have gotten amazing result and so we called the akashic records as what we called a part of the collective unconscious mind that is the repository of all human experience throughout all time and space past present and future there is no linear time mimic the Akashic records
so the Akashic records are filled with successes through the Psalms and not only successes from religious people but successes from magical people and you can align with all of your ancestors in the craft who have ever achieved success through the Psalms and and and piggyback on their success and it's hard to find a repository of magical successes that is bigger than the Psalms that spans across cultures that like the Psalms do that that spans across religions like the Psalms okay so you do not need to be a Christian you do not need to be a
Jew in order to get the benefit of the Psalms in fact the witchcraft tradition of psalm ik magic is high it's major it's powerful and anybody who is interested in results would want to investigate how to get the Psalms from a magical perspective now if you are bound by prejudices against the the language and the in the Psalms it's understandable especially if you were raised in a church that was kind of achy and that you left that church because it just was so restrictive and bad and that made you feel bad about yourself yeah then
it's understandable why you might like saying I let's try something else but you may want to reconsider and recognize that your witchcraft ancestors have been using these for centuries and you can use them too and if you can just turn your mind and open your mind up to what the inner meanings of these Psalms are you can recognize that the craft is alive and well in this book and you can get what you want and you can really make a powerful difference in your life are the Psalms the one and only thing that you should
ever use no but you could know I mean there's no I mean there's no restrictions this is the craft you can do what you will do what you will however to cut your nose off to spite your face is kind of silly so be at least open minded now here's one more thing I'm going to give you to consider that within the Book of Psalms is contained an entire initiative system yeah this is something that people don't realize that you can become a magical adept using nothing but this book you don't have to even ever
open up any other book in the Bible it's just this one if you read a hundred and fifty Psalms and do it in the way that we teach you how to do that means reverently prayerfully and also looking for the inner meanings finding the seeds to plant within your deep mind if you do that with all 150 Psalms we would consider you first-degree in this particular initiative system and when you do when you do it a second time then you're a second degree and the third degree and I thought you can have as many degrees
as you want until you reach what is called a depth ship or a depth hood where you're a magical adept and that means that you have complete and utter control over magic and you can actually say that you that you have that you're adept at the at the comings and goings of you of your mind and thus your circumstances now if some of you have already become magical adepts well good for you the rest of us this is another great way to do that especially if you don't want to align yourself with a witchcraft tradition
you don't want to join a coven necessarily and you don't want to you know follow an initiatory path that that involves like sort of like becoming part of a group you know if you want a self initiative system those are really hard to come by this is one and the cool thing about this one is there's no blinds it means that there's no little things in there that are they're written in there to trip you up you know that which a lot of magical texts have and it's also not a bunch of which a lot
of magical texts are but I'm not gonna name names because that I want to get into that this one doesn't have any and it doesn't have any blinds so you are safe okay one more thing the Psalms are foolproof you cannot make a mistake unless you just don't do them right you know if you if you just read them perfunctorily you know like thinking that there's some sort of magic words and that if you just say them through like a parrot that the the puff of smoke is going to happen and you're gonna get your
wish you're probably going to be disappointed however if you if you if you follow them as we prescribe as we prescribe meaning that you that you find the inner meanings you cannot make a mistake there are no blinds now technically you can use any psalm for any purpose that's right you can use any psalm for any purpose that's it now there are some Psalms that while each Psalm is speaking to a particular place in in in life so it's true that if you're looking for prosperity going with the psalm that's that's obviously about prosperity is
gonna get you there a little bit faster but if you don't know what those things are and you're just a novice and you just open this book and you just go on and now I need money what's this Psalm 88 and you and you read it through and you do your very best to find the inner meanings of that Psalm while you are keep being clear that your intention is money or if you have a if you have a disease and you don't know what to do you just say I don't know anything about these
songs but I hear they're powerful and I heard somebody tell me how to we're in it how to add it to read them magically you just open up to Psalm 44 you read it through and you do what we tell you to do it'll get you there it'll get you there it doesn't even matter it doesn't matter if it's specifically about healing it doesn't matter if it's specifically about prosperity it'll still get you there because that's how powerful they are now it may take a little different route like I say you know in the if
you're if you're going for a psalm that that's traditionally used for healing you might get there like directly but if you don't know it that's all mess and you just happen to pick a different song it'll still take you there it'll just you know you just have to run a few errands on the way and it'll it may take you a little longer you may you may see some scenes that you never saw that you wouldn't have seen had you had you taken the the Express route rather than the local route you know what I'm
saying so so but it will get you there so you don't ever have to worry about making a mistake or doing something wrong with the Psalms and that's another beauty is there not only the most powerful spells out there or am i should to not say be most powerful among the most powerful spells out there is a better way of putting that because there's a lot of other ways to do magic they're as effective as the Psalms but the good thing about the Psalms is not only are they as powerful as those other systems but
there's no dangers involved you're not gonna get in trouble there's no blinds you're not gonna be wasting your time like you will with some of those other systems some of those systems are good if you know if you're in the know some of those systems are way they're built up they are actually powerful but they've got these little things in there that that if you don't know there's a little blinds if you don't know how to streamline your operation properly if nobody's showing you how or if you're not blessed with with you know that kind
of insight naturally which is rare also then you're gonna waste your time and you'll never get the results that you want to get because you want to understand it right the Psalms aren't like that they don't have lines so you will get there whether or not whether you get training or not from a and the cool thing about the Psalms is if you know how to read them properly they will train you and then the other systems will make more sense if you're looking for the Kabbalah the magical Kabbalah these will help you understand the
magical Kabbalah and vice-versa the magical Kabbalah will help you understand the Psalms they'll help you understand your own tradition in the craft so there's nothing that the Psalms won't help you with and if you're if your tradition is not inclusive of the Psalms the Psalms is inclusive of your tradition so that means that the Psalms don't work for everybody just like oxygen works for everybody so so you're not excluded from from the Psalms it doesn't matter what you are whether you're an atheist whether you're a Christian whether you're a Muslim whether you're a Jew whether
you're part of a Wiccan tradition or an eighth or an older crafts tradition whether you're a Satanist whether you're an agnostic whether you're Luciferian it doesn't matter it doesn't it doesn't play favorites the Psalms will work for you no matter what no matter what all right so hopefully that was interesting for you and I hope that you will give the Book of Psalms some some study again perfunctory use of them are gonna not necessarily give you very good results but if you give it some time and some some general put some work into them you'll
