Nano Man, what a week Donald Trump has had. Well, he single-handedly made John Oaf bigger than Pinky Herman. [laughter] He revolutionized men's fashion with this uh latest accessory.
Uh no doubt everyone in MAGA will get one. Monkey see, monkey do. But mostly, Rosie returned to late night TV this week and delivered a brilliant reduction of Trump's inflated ego and unparalleled hubris.
It is her swan song tribute to Donald though that gets the last laugh. The last laugh we need at the end of this long week. Uh and well, you see the the standing ovation Rosie got for her efforts.
Uh it's just amazing. It's our feature clip of the day because as we all know, Donald holds Rosie in the highest regard. I called her a pig, a degenerate.
Her girlfriend cannot be happy. You look at that mess that she's got to look at every night, that she's got to kiss every night. She can't be thrilled kissing Rosie O'Donnell.
Can you imagine that? That's what's worse than that. Oh well, sir, you're about to find out what's worse than that.

It is America's shadow made flesh. a rotting pumpkin idol proving that when a nation kneels before money, power, and spite, it doesn't just lose its soul, it's out this bloated obscenity and calls it a leader. Johnny boy, the pipes, the pipes are cold. And as we end a pretty busy week considering it's summer and government tends to slow down, but we had an election, we have new polls. We've got some economic problems for Donald Trump.
And we are seeing this is very clearly the August, the summer where Trump's second term unraveled. The polls tanking. He's at 30% overall.
worst on the economy, just tucking below there at 28%. And if you want to move beyond just polls, which we've all seen the limitations of, there are a bunch of other indicators, several of them are economic, that show why the Trump economy just isn't working for people. Consider one of the largest employers and retailers in our country, Walmart, a bell weather there for many things in our economy, and it's posting the weakest growth in years because of the high prices that Trump campaigned against, but has failed to stem.
and in many ways a supply chain suffering under the war and the gas hikes as well. Then there's the national debt. Now this is something that kind of exists in general and has gone up for various reasons.
We saw that in co spending. We've seen it with Republican tax cuts. So this nothing new about the debt per se, but with Trump, they rush through those tax cuts for the super rich and we're now at $40 trillion.
So even though both parties have certainly contributed, Trump is in charge. He has made it worse. And now his Treasury Department is basically trying to do these quick band-aids or sugar high fixes to cover up a problem that will not be going away just with the tricks they've tried thus far.
Here's how the New York Times puts it. This year alone, the US is on track to borrow over 2 trillion to pay for the obligations, including the war in Iran and those tax cuts, which I just mentioned that the Times reminds everyone Republicans enacted just last year. And remember, even if Republicans generally try to do tax cuts and have run on them, Trump pledged two big things.
Lowering prices and no more forever wars in the Middle East. And so had there been any seriousness about this, they might have said, "Well, let's get the prices under control. Let's make sure foreign policy is working and maybe go to the tax cuts later.
" That's not what they did. And so everyone's now paying for it. And a lot of people are mad.
This isn't just some Trump critic or liberal Democratic thing. The polling you just saw, the problems with prices, the problems at Walmart, these are things that people are mad about. And by definition, the statistics show it's a lot of former Trump voters who are mad about this.
Now, I mentioned what the Treasury Secretary has been trying to do. Mr Bessant has been trying to sort of juice short-term fixes, sugar highs in the bond market and play defense on the high prices. And well, a lot of folks say his stumbling performance has actually maybe made things even a little bit worse.
We've got a spike in oil prices today that I don't really understand. There's nothing magic about the 40 trillion number. Uh and we can grow our way out of that after the the deportations that we've seen during President Trump's administration and the closing of the border that like this unfettered migration.
Uh we we don't need to produce as many jobs. We're seeing the wage increase especially in in a lot of the hospitality sectors come down. The wage inflation has has come down.
Jobs fell in the most recent report. Are now on their way back to San Diego for many families. This should be a moment of relief.
They have been waiting for their loved ones to come home safely. But this story is much bigger than one ship coming back. It raises serious questions about the safety of American sailors, the way military families are treated, and the importance of having a free and honest press.
For a long time, families of sailors on the USS Abraham Lincoln have raised concerns about what was happening on the ship. They talked about stress, mental health, safety, food, water, supplies, and the hard conditions of life at sea. Some family members even said that sailors had tried to go overboard.
Those are very serious claims. The Pentagon has denied many of these concerns and President Donald Trump has also pushed back against the idea that military families are deeply worried. But when families are saying that something is wrong, the first response should not simply be to ignore them.
The first response should be to listen, investigate, and make sure their loved ones are safe. That is why the role of Stars and Stripes matters so much. Stars and Stripes is not just another newspaper.
It has a long history of covering the American military and the people who serve in it. Military families around the world read it because they want information about their communities. People in government and national security also pay attention to it.
Its job is simple but very important. Report what is happening to American service members. And here is where this story becomes much more concerning.
Reports have raised questions about whether the Trump administration and the Pentagon are trying to have more control over stars and stripes. That matters because a military newspaper should not simply become a place where the government tells soldiers what to think. It should be a place where military members can learn what is really happening.
Imagine being a sailor far away from home. Your family is worried about you. You want to know what is happening in the military.
You open a newspaper because you trust that the reporters are going to tell you the truth. You do not want a newspaper that only prints things that make the Pentagon look good. You want facts.
That is the whole point of journalism. Reports earlier this year said that people applying for jobs at Stars and Stripes were asked questions about how they would support President Trump's policies. That is a strange question for a newspaper whose mission is supposed to include independent reporting.
A reporter should be judged by their ability to find facts, ask hard questions, and report honestly. They should not have to prove that they support a president before they can do their job. What makes the situation even more troubling is that the leadership of Stars and Stripes reportedly did not know those questions were being asked.
The questions were connected to a government hiring system. That means there was a disconnect between the people running the newspaper and the government system being used to hire workers. Then came another major issue.
Pentagon spokesperson Shawn Parnell said Stars and Stripes should return to what he described as its original mission and move away from what he called woke distractions. That language may sound political, but a military newspaper should not be about serving a political party. its job should be serving military families and service members.
Soon reports emerged about plans that could have active duty service members writing content and could have a large amount of material coming directly from the Pentagon. Again, this creates a basic question. If the Pentagon creates the story, who is checking the Pentagon?
That is why independent journalism matters. If the government says everything is fine, an independent reporter should be able to ask, "Are you sure?
