Order books are used by almost every exchange for various assets like stocks, bonds, currencies, and even cryptocurrencies. If you want to get a behind-the-scenes look at your favourite cryptocurrency's price action, the CEX. IO order book will be your best friend.
However, apart from tracking market prices, you can also use order books to analyze buyer and seller sentiment on a certain crypto asset. For instance, the order book shows potential imbalances between the pending buy and sell orders. This could provide clues in what direction the price may move in the short term.
Suppose the number and amount of buy orders are significantly more than those of sell orders. It might hint at significant buying pressure, pushing the price upwards. You can also use the order book to identify potential support and resistance levels.
A big cluster of buy orders at a specific price may suggest a support level, while a big chunk of sell orders at a specific price can be considered a resistance area. However, Order books are always dynamic, which means orders at each price level may be removed or changed at any time. Because of this, it may not be a good idea to make trading decisions solely based on the state of order books.
