management Innovation is important it's important as a source of competitive Advantage it's important to helping your companies meet the uh Performance challenges that lie ahead but I think it's most important today for another reason I think we live in a world today where you can't compete you can't win unless you're able to get the very best out of your people and it turns out that probably for the first time since the Industrial Revolution you can't build a company that's fit for the future unless you build a company that's fit for human beings and let's just
admit it management as it's been practiced over the last 100 years has not been very human friendly look around you at the people you know and I guarantee most of them are more Innovative more adaptable more resilient and more engaging than your organization is I mean isn't this odd that our companies our organizations are less human than we are and the only reason I think the only explanation I can give for that is the technology of management the review meetings the planning processes the budgeting the control systems they literally leech adaptability and innovate and Innovative
thoughts they leech those things out of people between the hours of 8 to 5 we're going to have to change that yes for the benefit of performance for the benefit of shareholders but most of all we have to change it for the benefit of people who show up every day and devote more of their life to work than anything else if you can build a company that's fit for those people that gets the best out of them you will be a management innovator you will build a company that can thrive in the world ahead
