Matthew 16:26 says for what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul or what will a man give in exchange for his soul if you were to assess your actions your decisions everything you do and everything you decide not to do is it to the benefit of your soul or are you looking to gain the whole world do you stop and think no I shouldn't be telling a lie because Proverbs 12:22 says lying lips are an Abomination to the Lord in those moments when you are alone
in the moments when no one's looking do you remember that the Bible says in Proverbs 15:3 the eyes of the Lord are in every place keeping watch on the evil and the good I guess what I'm really trying to get at is how many of us are living in such a way that we are mindful that our actions our thoughts must profit our souls not just our physical bodies this world it's temporary our bodies are temporary but your soul it needs to have a home in eternity are you mindful of that are you living in
a way that reflects you being a Christian who is alert to what they expose their soul to are you guarding what you allow to come into your heart Let Me Go a step further and ask you what is the state of your heart people of God the Bible tells us in Proverbs 4:23 to keep your heart with all diligence for out of it spring the issues of life we ought to guard what's coming into our lives and because there are so many things out there that can harm our spiritual heart we need to take note
of some of the following areas where you need to guard your heart you should guard your heart against the doctrines that you hear and the word Doctrine it means the teaching the information the belief system that you're taught be Discerning don't accept everything you hear the author and finisher of our faith is Jesus Christ and the word of God is and should always be our foundation the Bible teaches about the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and that is the basis of our faith guard your heart and be alert Saints the devil is doing
all he can to deceive people Christ and Christ Alone is the rock upon which we stand and so back to my initial passage of scripture Matthew 16:26 it says for what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul or what will a man give in exchange for his soul listen to me nothing in this world is of any benefit to your soul Jesus Christ can save your soul the Gospel of Jesus Christ will save your soul I encourage you Saints focus on that which is profitable to
your soul and that is the Gospel of Jesus Christ a gospel which teaches repentance a gospel which teaches you to love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your mind what truly drives you some people are driven by the attention and praise of others there are some of us who are motivated by money but the Bible teaches that there there is a far greater reward than the approval of man there is a far greater reward than the riches of this world the approval of God is what we should
Chase above any accolades in this world the lord should be the motivation behind everything we do he should be the reason for everything we do Colossians 3: 23- 24 says and whatever you do do it heartily as to the Lord and not to men knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance for you serve the Lord Christ and Galatians 1:10 says am I now trying to win the approval of human beings or of God or am I trying to please people if I were still trying to please people I would
not be a servant of Christ what a comforting thought that nothing thing we do for God is in vain no one act of kindness goes unseen or unnoticed by him in this life there are many Pursuits that ultimately lead to Nowhere worldly success material wealth the empty Applause of strangers those things won't get us anywhere every Journey eventually has an end and that end is often more disappointing than we would like but try as we may we can never stretch the boundaries of God's love there is truly no end to our walk with Christ in
fact as we go on life with him gets sweeter every day God should not just be one part of our lives that we're dedicated to on Sunday mornings he should Define the totality of Our Lives God should be the center of everything we do even mundane things like eating and drinking can be done to his glory how well the key is the spirit of gratitude we are meant to do all things with an attitude of love and obedience towards the God who gives us the ability to enjoy all of life's blessings when we are motivated
by worldly things we end up constantly trying to prove ourselves we become constantly anxious self-conscious and often disappointed but when Jesus is the underlying motivation for everything we do our lives will overflow with joy and peace his grace supplies us with the ability to fully enjoy this life as well as positively impact the lives of those around us the gospel of Christ is what we believe in for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life now let's pray together Lord
Jesus your word tells me that out of the heart spring the issues of Life help me to have a heart that is devoted to you father a heart that is focused on living a life that pleases You Luke 12: 33 and 34 says sell what you have and give alms provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old a treasure in the heavens that does not fail where no Thief approaches nor moth destroys for where your treasure is there your heart will be also may you be my heart's treasure Lord may you be my heart's
Delight father help me to love Heavenly things instead of Earthly possessions Hebrews 13 verse5 says keep your life free from Love of Money and be content with what you have for he has said I will never leave you nor forsake you Lord give me a heart that's content a heart that rejoices with all that you've blessed me with God I know that I may not have all of the silver and gold that this world can offer but I have you Lord Jesus and you're all that I need father your word in Matthew 15:8 says these
people draw near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips but their heart is far from me Lord please don't let this be said of me I pray that I would never be someone who simply honors you with my lips but my heart is elsewhere father help me to become a true disciple of Jesus Christ Change Me From the Inside Out transform my heart so that there would be no malice no deceit no hypocrisy and no Envy Ezekiel 36 verses 26 and 27 say I will give you a new heart and put
a new spirit within you I will take the Heart of Stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of Flesh I will put my spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes and you will keep my judgments and do them Father remove this Heart of Stone from within me remove this corrupt heart from within me and God I pray that you would give me a pure heart a humble Heart Lord I know that you're a God who doesn't look at the outward appearance but instead you weigh the heart I pray
that you would see my heart to be sincere and committed to you Lord Jesus I pray that you would see a heart that completely trusts and leans on you Lord Jesus my heart is yours and if there's any Pride Within Me remove it Lord if there is any unforgiveness within me I ask that you would remove it father and should there be any scars any wounds within my heart that are from my past or from words that have been spoken against me father I pray that you would heal me Lord Jesus heal me and set
