[Music] hello we need a video in 3 days it'll be a challenge a challenge I'm always down for a [Music] challenge you see Cinema has always been a passion of mine telling a story in a way that allow others to feel connected and inspired by what they're seeing and the real secret to capturing cinematic shots happened way before we ever pick up a camera wait really you see most people think the best cinematography happens with the best equipment but that's not necessarily true the best cinematography happens here with our ideas I find myself coming up
with ideas seemingly all the time and while not every idea is good I still write it down from there I'll list them all out and try to find one I really like and that becomes my story once we have the story line it's time to start writing the video I like to give myself as much time as possible when writing I like to break my videos into Parts listing the title and the duration while writing I don't make sure it's all polished I allow myself freedom to write without criticism and sometimes without any warning I
find myself getting stuck I like to take a step back remove myself from the project it allows my mind to get a fresh perspective and a little bit of a rest sometimes in the mist of writing and working on projects we forget why we're doing this in the first place as artists we can find ourselves taking information in from every direction I like removing myself and simply enjoying what's around me wow what a view and just like that I'm feeling inspired again to write the best stories it's important to to stay true to who you
are finding inspiration is great but your story can only be told by you when I find things that inspire me I like to ask why and figure out how my story could fit within that inspiration I'm inspired by cinematographers like Sam CER right here and gaw right there as well as musicians like Fred again and Bona I also find inspiration from artists like Anthony Bourdain and Wes Anderson they all have one thing in common they make you feel an emotion emotion cannot live without a story and a story cannot live without emotion in creating cinematic
visuals it's important we align our visuals with our story the best cinematographers will connect how they want you to feel with what you're seeing and to accomplish this there's a few rules we can follow before we start filming it's important to have two things the first thing that we need is a shot list this will keep us on track during our filming process the second gummy bears okay back back to it once these are done it's time to turn the camera on capture the most cinematic shots I like to create sequences great shots are ones
that find a connection through the timeline first we need a wide shot or an establishing shot this gives the audience a perspective of where the subject is from there we can do a medium close-up which introduces the subject to the audience I then like to do an extreme closeup which will guide the audience to the action being done from there we can get creative we can walk into Focus or do an overhead shot we can also add Movement Like a pull in or a push out adding motion blur will enhance the emotion handheld can be
used to allow the audience to feel the movement of the subject while using the static shot to help slow things down and more important than all of that lighting I use the sunset lamp to add contrast using stronger lights to light the subject Bluetooth RGB which allows me to change the color and the projector we can add warm light to make the scene happier and cooler light to make it more sad we can use backlight to create a silhouette while using a spotlight will help focus on one thing cinematography is all about connecting your visuals
and your lighting with the story that you're trying to [Music] tell and once we're done filming it's time to import our footage I edit and Premiere Pro and D Vinci res for Endless Possibilities editing is all about trial and error the more you do the more you learn and there's no rules to editing it's all about Rhythm the Rhythm will be dictated by the music you choose music has the ability to transport your audience anywhere you want them to go we could find ourselves in the busyness of Tokyo or walking down the coast ultimately music
will play a vital role in how we interpret what we see while music plays a great role so do the sounds we hear every day sound design can take your videos from good to Great an overlaying natur natural sounds into the video will give it an immersive [Music] feel which finally leaves us with color grading color grading will give your video its unique [Music] look and there's dozens of ways to color [Music] grade and after you've done all of that you will have made your first cinematic video be patient and take your time in a
world where it seems like everyone's making videos it's important to stay true to who you are and remember only you can tell your [Music] story bye
