[Music] hello everybody and welcome to ancient Architects please subscribe to the channel for regular content on Ancient architecture as well as all the latest news from the world of archaeology first of all let me apologize to regular viewers for the title of this video but I needed to draw some attention to the subject in the hope that the tens of thousands of people that saw the posts on Twitter and Facebook take notes watch and actually learn something I swear these days you can pretty much make up any fantastic claim and someone well a lot of
people will believe you but anyway the burning question pun intended is what burned and melted this pyramid to start us off I'll tell you what some people have said I think they were serious some think it was the sun yes because if a solar flare which on average is 10 times the diameter of the earth flies directly towards the planet penetrates the atmosphere we would see the top of just one pyramid burned and melted every other pyram an ancient Temple was fine but this one and only this one was burnt by the intense heat does
that really sound possible okay so if it's not the Sun what was it well some genuinely believe the pyramids were power plants and this one exploded or went into some kind of meltdown yes the famous power plants hypothesis how people were so techn ically Advanced that they still use soft Limestone and mud briak to build a power plant moving on and another it was an electric plasma Direct Energy weapon no God please no no but it doesn't get much better I even read it was a nuclear bomb this is exactly what we'd see if a
nuclear bomb went off hyperfocus damage on just one pyramid and everything else in ancient Egypt was absolutely fine that could happen because science another said it was caused by a comet or meteorit but does this really look like the sight of an impact but some have said it's not even a pyramid it's an enormous ancient tree trunk and to make a conspiracy out of it apparently they in inverted commas tried to hide it by covering it up with rubble they did it yes them of course this implies the pyramid has not been explored or documented
by archaeologists or it has and it's just a big conspiracy to hide a big tree tree I am no tree last but not least someone said there was a cataclysm 15,000 years ago and quote other pyramids were wrecked something happened whatever it was it was cataclysmic end quote it was so cataclysmic that the Red Pyramid bent pyramid Great Pyramid caffra and Menor pyramids still stand as do the temples and structures of ancient Egypt and if Egypt saw a cataclysm 15,000 years ago well this is still thousands of years before the first pyramid was even built
so now we're past the ridiculous it's actually time to learn something while some have said that this is the Black Pyramid of Arman mhat III it is in fact the Pyramid of senz II located at El lahun in the F region of Egypt it was built in the 12th Dynasty between 1,897 and 1,878 BC which was during Egypt's Middle Kingdom the original name of the structure is cers red shines which is ironic considering how it looks today with this messy exterior and dark color and no it's not because it was burned and melted it's because
of the decayed appearance of the mud bricks it's made from the color on the photo that's going all around social media has been artificially enhanced here we can see the original on the right everything about the color of this photo just looks a bit off but anyway the top of the pyramid is darker than the rubble and sand around it but every photo and video you can find on the internet shows the top of this pyramid is not burned or melted it's just because as I've said the bulk of the pyramid is made from mud
brick and that's darker than the average Limestone the pyramid was built onto a natural Limestone Mound which was cut and shaped before construction began large Limestone cross walls were built onto a platform and these run all the way through the structure in a radial pattern like this and the gaps between the walls were then filled with mud bricks according to John sha pering the bricks were made of a mixture of n Earth and chopped straw it was like a cheap but effective filler material which when laid down was supported by the structured Stone skeleton so
with a natural Limestone Rock base and a mudbrick core this pyramid was actually quite easy to build the Pyramid was then entirely cased with fine chur Limestone meaning that when it was complete it would have looked as perfect as any other pyramid that came before it and you'd never have known what material filled the inside well we wouldn't if rames the great had left it alone in the 19th dynasty of Egypt's New Kingdom rameses the great scavenge the outer casing Stone and this exposed the soft mud bricks and they've remained exposed to the elements for
more than 3,000 years no wonder it looks like a dilapidated mess today if you look at pictures and videos online zoom into the top and you can see there is no melting and no burning we're just looking at decayed eroded mud bricks and these are are darker than the Limestone Rubble rocks and sand that surround it conspiracy theories like this are published on social media to form clicks and often by people that can't really be bothered to do any kind of real research or in this case extremely basic research the answers really aren't hard to
find but I get it I do they give us what we want many of us want there to be excited ing Unsolved Mysteries from the past and many only have a passing interest in ancient history and archaeology and so posts like this do give us a fix it's like an episode of Ancient Aliens we know it's not real but so many of us wish it was I get the attraction we all like to dream to have our minds filled with wonder but there are so many real Mysteries of the ancient world we don't need to
consume and react to this the pyramids themselves are still filled with many many Mysteries and if there was evidence of burning at the summit of this pyramid instead of Leaping to solar flares nuclear bombs plasma weapons power plant meltdowns or Comet strikes the answer would likely have been quite simple that someone made a big fire and this burnt the mud bricks but anyway the Pyramid of senr II is an incredible structure and well worthy of our attention when completed it would have stood at 49 M or 160 ft in height its base was 107 M
or 348 ft in length unlike the more famous pyramids that came before it the main entrance into the pyramid substructure is located at the East End of the south side and it takes the form of a narrow vertical shaft the shaft goes down down some 40 ft damn right and then a gently sloping Corridor leads northwards beneath the pyramid at the heart of the substructure is a granite chamber with the floor walls and ceiling all made of this hard Stone smoothly dressed but not ground or polished the room has a beautifully crafted curved ceiling just
like what we see in the Menor Pyramid inside we find a sarcophagus and this really is a real thing of beauty even if the design is somewhat unusual Petri noted how surprisingly straight and accurate the edges and faces were saying quote this is one of the greatest triumphs of accurate work in such a material that's ever been done end quote and when you look at the measurements made by Flinders Petri and the absolutely minimal error margins well yes the accuracy of the work is truly remarkable the strange thing though is that we find no lid
no evidence of a way to fix a lid and no tool marks left by tomb robbers to ever have lifted a lid so did it even have one was this ever used for a burial was it a dummy burial chamber or maybe just symbolic interestingly there are in fact many sets of of passages and Chambers associated with the pyramid and these open up on the south side and there's also one to the north the northern set is known as tomb 621 and it is a fantastic Grand tomb no doubt intended for royalty the burial chamber
is lined with granite bur with a limestone ceiling and the sarcophagus really is a true work of art it's comparable to the one found beneath the pyramid although this one is more richly decorated and also complete with a lid apparently this is the only picture in existence but strangely it's believed that this tomb was unused it was certainly prepared for use but there's no evidence an interment was ever made in this video I've giving you a real brief overview of the pyramid but you can learn all about it in Keith Hamilton 's extensive 71 page
free guide it's jam-packed with information stunning pictures and 3D models the use of the substructure the various passages and Chambers is a real mystery but what's not a mystery in any way is why the pyramid looks the way it does it's just the exposed mud brick core weathered eroded and decayed and that's because the protective Limestone casing has gone and it's been gone for more than 3,000 years there's no burning or melting of any kind just like the famous steps of dendera these two are not melted like some would lead you to believe there's still
