imagine a life where you don't have any major motivation problems at all you work study and exercise and you do it mostly with joy and happiness and despite failures and setbacks you simply continue mostly with a smiling face you might think this is ridiculous but I tell you that it's not it's what I've experienced in the last year because something fundamentally changed in my life looking back at my teenage years I've struggled with motivation a lot sometimes I worked on my business and went to the gym and sometimes I didn't I had goals I wanted
to work towards but there was also this inner part that dragged me from discipline to laziness and seemingly pleasurable activities it was this weird unending back and forth this is probably what all of us have experienced before we start a project with a lot of passion then we lose motivation then we feel bad about it then we restart it but lose motivation again then we become frustrated and think that life sucks some stay in this endless cycle and for some it is so demoralizing that they pretty much give up on their goals altogether they curb
their ambition and tell themselves that they actually don't want to work hard anymore this is really tragic but I'm pretty sure that I've found a way for me to break out of the cycle that could work for some of you as well it is the concept of macro motivation it is the underlying engine that moves you forward in life and is pretty much an infinite source of motivation around the time I turned 20 my macro motivation became absolutely clear it is the idea of my future family my future wife my future kids my nieces and
nephews and so on before that starting a family was always this thing my adult me would do sometime in the future I've always thought of this guy from a third person perspective but then I became an adult faster than expected and I realized and yes this sounds kind of obvious that I am this guy in the future it's not somebody else people grow up at the latest if they have kids at least if they're not irresponsible or narcissistic Beyond Redemption because they feel the love and moral responsibility to make sure their children grow up in
the best possible circumstances and then they are suddenly really motivated to work hard on themselves and their lives but you can take this motivation from your future self and take it into the present by visualizing and thinking about it you can unleash it a decade earlier and benefit from The Compound Effect having this as a goal is the North Star that helps you to get your life in order and makes everything else fall into place you care less about some superficial opinions from others or flexing in front of your peers and simply care about doing
the right thing in concrete terms this means for example that I live very healthy so that I can look like Mark sisen in 50 years and yes he is 70 years old instead of having back pain and a heart attack he can easily play with his grandchildren and that I work towards Financial Independence so I have the opport opportunity to live in a beautiful house in nature with as much Freedom as I like but fundamentally the point is to become a good role model an educated capable and happy human being I do all of these
improvements with joy because I know on a very deep emotional level why and for whom I am doing them these motivations of you will die one day or think about what the people say at your funeral stuff might be nice thought experiments but fundamentally they're not motivating at least not for me I don't care about these onetime events especially when I'm not even there anymore nor do I care about cars watches or any other materialism I care about my future family and if you're not sure if you want to start a family I want to
tell you this you will live till you're 90 in all likelihood and life can become pretty lonely after 45 if you don't have a family it's not easy to consider your life across its entire span having children is part of the human condition every every single one of your ancestors reproduced in an unending procession lasting 3 and A2 billion years so you can sit here and watch this video I don't judge anyone who doesn't want to start a family but I encourage everyone to think about it very deeply and very carefully if you want to
discuss more of these ideas I invite you to join the better human Community by clicking the first link in the bio it will open in mid April have a wonderful day
