Where who's shut down conversations? Elon Musk where in his company it was again this I think was this New York Times today. I some you know you read I read only respectable publications I can assure you you read it [laughter] sounds like sounds like you only read publications that you already agree with.
Bill Maher brought on a seriously radical leftist onto his show Real Time with Bill Maher and was forced to put her in her place after she just made some ridiculous statements on his show. And there comes to a point, you know, Bill Maher, he's he's a liberal. He's a leftist for sure.
But there comes to a point where you just have to push back on people. You can't allow people to just say whatever the hell they want, especially on Bill Maher's own platform. He has to put them in his place whenever they force him to.
And this was one of those times. Let's get into this clip here where Bill Maher destroys this radical leftist for her ridiculous statements on Real Time with Bill Maher. The experts were telling me didn't really conform to what was going on in my life.
And so I'm looking backwards, not forwards there because the real answer to the question is no one knows what the long-term prognosis for the economy is. Don't trust any we have we have problems we haven't had in a very long time like inflation. Yes.
So and certainly we have been running up the debt but not the levels that we have in recent years where we just sort of went oh numbers don't mean anything. I remember when uh you know in '08 when we passed or was it '09 when Obama first got in and and the the the bill to bail out the economy was like $780 billion and they were like well we we can't go to a trillion, right? That would just freak people out.
And now they write it like it's the dinner check, right? Just I don't I don't know where that leads. I I don't know if that's and I don't but we are in highly unusual conditions.
I think it's worth saying that. I mean, we're in the middle of a pandemic. Um, and we're not in the middle we're not in the middle of one, and it's and it's debatable as to whether we should have lost our [ __ ] to that degree.
And there are also people who say lockdowns didn't really change anything. But I think what I think what um uh David was getting at was the deep long-term structural problems in our economy, which President Biden was seriously trying to address address and every other Democrat in Congress except Joe Mansion and Kristen Cinema. Uh the one thing I am agree with Joe Mansion on is if you don't like me, elect more Democrats.
So I hope that what we have seen will not depress turnout for 2022 and beyond because we really need it. All of the things that were in the Build Back Better bill, so many of them were so popular and so vital. I mean the pandemic revealed just to take one that we have a child care crisis in this economy.
I mean women just hemorrhaged out of the workforce because they were trying to raise their kids at home. They were trying to deal with all these issues and they couldn't take it anymore. So we have that's just one index of many many deep structural problems that we have that Democrats have tried to deal with and they're being blocked by this crazy Republican party that's caught between its rich donors like the Cokes and this inflamed base that believes in widespread pedophilia.
But I think I think it is important to pull out the lens. Does this person listen to herself speak? Like that whole sentence that whole paragraph that she just said was insanity.
Okay. Like when it comes to the the whole Epstein situation, yes, there were right-wingers. Yes, there were Republicans in there, but it wasn't just Republicans.
Like, are leftwingers now convincing themselves that it's only Republicans that are involved in that stuff because it definitely wasn't. I can promise you that it definitely was not. If we're if you if we're checking the scoreboard, it's probably a whole lot more leftwingers than it is rightwingers on that list, but we'll probably never know.
Anyway, but um anyway, also she's saying like Republicans are the one blocking these bills and stuff like that. The the Democrats do that all the time, too. Like what what are we talking about?
The these sorts of people, this person right here, I think this is Nancy McClean if I'm not mistaken. Like they they're just so they're either so lost and just so engulfed in this political BS that their brain is mush or they're selling something. You know, she's just trying to talk like this because she knows better, but she knows that this is what sells, so she's going to do it anyway.
It's one of those two choices. Either one pisses me off to no end. Like I just cannot stand this archetype of person.
They're just so I just cannot stand them and look at some of the larger, you know, issues that are at stake. And I think David did a really nice job. So, let me ask let me ask this.
It's kind of anecdotal, but uh so if the answer is taxing the rich more, yes, I'm I'm going to own up to it. I'm rich. I don't feel that bad about it.
I appreciate HBO's generosity all these. So, how could it be that like for I can't remember the last year when I paid uh less than half of what I make to the government, I pay more than half cuz it's 39% federal and out here 13 and that's without you know fees and getting solar hooked up and you know, you know, a billionaire because billionaires it was just exposed with the effort to get to a 20% billionaire cuz they're [laughter] Hey, do you have a kit that I could uh they're only paying an average of 8% a year while the rest of us schmos are paying, you know, a third. Is that what it is?
I'm just a couple times. I think I've slipped from the Washington Post is excellent. How can I pay so much in taxes and yet still so much of the country is living paycheck to paycheck?
I mean, the answer I don't know how high they can go. I think the two things are I It's ridiculous, man. Like I'm not I'm not as rich as Bill Maher is, but I run multiple online businesses.
And it's it's it genuinely is just ridiculous how much you're taxed. You have to play so many games in order to not just get absolutely screwed on your taxes. And the billionaires, if that stat is real, paying 8% in taxes, that's a skill issue.
That is not because the government loves billionaires. I mean, they do love some billionaires for sure, but it's not that's not why they pay less in taxes. It's a skill issue.
They have access to better resources. They've done more research. They know how to play the game better.
We all play under the same rules. We all have the same game, right? We're all playing inside of the same game.
They understand the game better than you. That's why they pay less taxes. If you understand the game so well, like, and also like I'm sure Nancy McLean makes a good bit of money.
Maybe you should pay more taxes to make up for the billionaire's lack of paying taxes. Since you care so much about how much taxes are being paid, how about you pay more? You give 75% of your income so that I can pay less cuz I don't care about paying.
I don't want to pay any taxes. They just throw the money down the toilet anyway or give it to Israel, you know, like it's pointless. No doubt you're paying a lot in taxes.
But I [laughter] I mean, I wouldn't mind if I didn't also have this other thing on my shoulders, which is so many people are suffering and and can't even make a living, which I want to help. The two things I would say are one, rich people pay a lot less in taxes as a share of their income than they used to than they did in the 50s and 60s and 70s. That's my accountant.
[laughter] No, it's the law. It really is. And two, you said I'm not married.
If you look at how rich people [laughter] cuz that one's not on the table. But if you look at how rich people have done even after taxes over the last few generations and not just rich people, upper middle class people as well, people like university professors and journalists at national publication, [laughter] they've done fine [snorts] and even after taxes and working-class people haven't. Okay.
All right. Uh what are the thought panel's thoughts on Elon Musk becoming Twitter's single largest shareholder? I'm for it.
Do you think his influence will have a positive or never negative impact on the platform? I loved hearing from the the um employees who had worked with him [laughter] under him in previous capacities. Real quick, last thing I'll say on the tax issue before this absolute idiot starts speaking again.
Um I I just think it's hilarious how the left-wingers, they're always like tax the rich, tax the rich. It's just such a defeist mindset. It's like, oh, I I think that the money will be better spent by the government than by these individuals who have worked hard to make this money.
The government just gets to steal the money out of their pockets after they work so hard to to make it. And I think the government, you know, it's in good hands if if it's in the government's hands versus them just understanding like, hey, maybe I should go get rich. Instead of me just begging for them to tax the rich more, how about I just go get rich and then I do philanthropic things with that money.
I can go make the change that I actually want. But no, that that actually takes hard work. You know, that takes, you know, more than just going outside and having, you know, these women with hairy armpits hold up signs at a no kings protest.
That doesn't make you a billionaire. That doesn't make you rich. So, they're not going to do it.
They'd rather just complain and say, "Tax the rich versus actually getting rich and then making something happen. " You know, if you're passionate about animal shelters, get rich, open an animal shelter. You're passionate about homeless, get rich, open a homeless shelter.
You can do these things. Anybody can do it. I promise you, anybody can do it.
Who were saying, "Oh my god. " You know, I mean, he has shut down conversations before. Will he be able to do this here, etc.
I'm not a big Wait, wait. Who's shut down conversations? Elon Musk where in his company.
It was again this I think was this New York Times today. I some you know you read I read only respectable publications. I can assure you you read [laughter] it sounds like sounds like you only read publications that you already agree with.
Not true. That sounds that way. figured me out because I read so much conservative stuff.
I read all the No, Bill Maher has her pegged 100% like that. That's the reality. That's the reality for all these people.
They don't even want news. They just want their own ideas regurgitated them regurgitated to them on a regular basis. That's what they want, you know.
And if you go outside those parameters, they try to get you banned off every social media platform. Let me know in the comments what you guys think about this whole Bill Maher versus this woke idiot here on Real Time with Bill Maher, Nancy McClean. I I can't stand these people, but I'm curious to see what you guys think in the comments about this Bill Maher versus Nancy McClean situation.
