It seems like every time I log on to Tik Tok, there's a new habit I need to try, a new ritual I need to add to my life or a new product I need to buy to finally be that girl. I just graduated college and I have a little bit of extra time on my hands. This really got me thinking about all the habits and like wellness routines that I feel like I've always just wanted to add into my life.
I've always seen and been like, geez, I wish wish that could be me, but just haven't been able to fully commit to. That all changes today because over the last 2 months I have been trying out healthy habits. I have done research of what the top healthy habits really are and I have compiled a foolproof list of the top 10 habits you actually need.
The secret is none of these habits are really that crazy. None of them are that drastic. None of them should be these crazy lifestyle changes.
But everything on this list will change your life. They're all things that you can actually realistically do. So, without further ado, let's get on with this video.
Hi, my name is Gigi. If you've never been here before, welcome or welcome back to my channel. Let's address the elephant in the room or the puppy in the room.
This is Lady. She's like very happy and sleepy right now, so I'm not going to wake her up. She is the absolute love of my life.
Moving forward in future videos, you'll see much more of her, but she's going to sit here with me while she takes her little nap. Yeah, let's get into these tips. Number one is to make a morning routine.
Probably heard it a billion times, but I seriously mean make a morning routine. A morning routine can be as simple as you get up, you brush your teeth, you make your breakfast and a yummy little morning drink that you can look forward to. Bonus points if this morning routine can be off your phone because going on your phone first thing in the morning can be so damaging for us.
So, start yourself off with success by staying off your phone. I like to fill my mornings with little moments that bring me joy. They can be small.
And some of my favorite things are taking the time to write out my plans for the day or do a brain dump to free up some thinking space. Making my bed to start off with a little win. Putting my breakfast on pretty vintage place to make it feel a little extra special.
Wearing vintage robes or cute pajamas to make things a little more magical. Turning on jazzy music that puts me in a good mood for the day. Moving my body in the morning with stretching, Pilates, or maybe even a dance party in my room.
spending time doing my skincare and getting ready, even if I'm staying home for the day, because it really just jogs my brain into day mood. And it's also really meditative for me and allows me those extra 20 minutes before the rest of the day to just kind of get in a good headsp space. As you can see, none of these are super drastic.
They're just small ways that you can set up the rest of your day for success by boosting your mood and your momentum, which allows you to be more productive for the rest of the day and helps you avoid falling into slumps throughout the day. Of course, these morning routines are going to change as the days go. Some days are going to be different.
They're obviously not always going to look the same, but just having a little bit of something you can count on each morning can really set you up for success. This next habit I'm calling fuel because that's what food and water are. Water is everything.
Affects literally everything going on in your body from your skin to your brain, your mood, and your overall health. So, you need your comfort water bottle. Romanticize the water bottle.
Find a water bottle that you love that you will just carry around, which will inspire you inevitably to drink more water. You can prep water beforehand by putting it in a picture in your fridge with like fruit, cucumbers in it to kind of make it fancy water that then you can pour into your water bottle throughout the day, romanticizing it even a little bit more. Next in the fuel category is food.
It is so important to be feeding yourself. Food is fuel and it is not something you need to earn. I love watching recipe videos on Tik Tok and Instagram.
Ever since I started doing this, it's inspired me so much more to cook. Romanticize the food and the cooking process for yourself to make it more exciting to actually cook yourself a nice meal. Turn on romantic music when you cook.
Find yourself your fixation breakfast that you wake up excited to eat. I live in Vermont and right now the produce is like peak. I have been going to farmers markets.
If you were able to do that and just kind of connect with like your local food network, I feel like that can also just be another way to kind of add this greater appreciation for food and romanticize it by the season. Right now in the summer, I'm like obsessed with making anything fresh, different vegetables, berries. In the fall, I love romanticizing cozy soups, pumpkin, apples.
And lastly, as a bonus in the fuel category is vitamins. Take your daily vitamins. I'm not going to tell you like what vitamins to take.
You should do research about what you feel like your body needs, but I feel like a great place to start is just a probiotic and a daily multivitamin. Number three is finding movement that you love. This spring and summer, I have felt this more than ever that movement is everything.
I've discovered that it controls my mood so so much. On days where I move my body, I literally feel my mood lifted so much for the rest of the day. It's so much easier for me to kind of get out of my like ADHD ruts when I fall into those.
For me to feel like I have momentum throughout my day. So, you should find movement that you love, feels good for you. If that is not going to the gym, don't force yourself to go to the gym.
Nothing you do should feel like torture. There are so many ways to move your body. Maybe it is going to the gym.
Maybe it's Pilates. Maybe it's cycling. Maybe it's an online Pilates class.
Maybe it's going for a bike ride. Personally, I absolutely love walking. I have been trying to walk every single day this summer.
Having a puppy definitely helps. I personally love cycling. I love the music aspect of it.
It kind of makes me forget that I'm working out. Dance parties in my room. Going to a dance class.
I recently tried out Pure Bar a couple times. [Music] It is like 8:10 and I need to be at this class at 8:30. I'm really excited.
I'm going to a pure bar class for the first time. Okay, I'm nervous but really excited. Let's go.
[Music] I don't know what pure bar people are doing. It feels like they are training for war. That is something I would not be able to just do on my own, but in a class setting, it really works for me and it's exciting.
And it's important to change our mindset from the sake of it just being like to work out or to stay fit because there's so much more to movement than just that. And I think that once you kind of let go of that and think of it in this new way where it's thing that is really going to affect your being, happiness, it's so much easier to actually add it into your life. Number four is to add whimsy into your life every day in every way you can.
I recently did a full video on ways that you can easily add whimsy into your life. You can watch that after this video for more ideas. But the golden rule, I think, for adding whimsy into your life is to find joy in all you do and make all you do joyful.
Instead of letting a rainy day ruin things, lean into it. Make it romantic. Light a candle.
Open a window to listen to the rain. Maybe even go for a walk in the rain. If you're dreading work at your computer, put on a cute outfit that makes you feel productive.
Clean your space. Move your desk in front of the window. Make it enjoyable.
Don't let it be miserable. Go to a coffee shop and change your scenery completely. Play your favorite music on your way to work.
Add sparkles to your makeup just for fun. Collect trinkets. Put your snacks on pretty vintage plates and then call them fairy snacks.
If you're running errands, stop at a park on your way. Other little things I love to do that I think are just really whimsical. Little crafts.
Making wishes at 11-1ven. Going down to say hi to neighbors. Personalized things like my perfume or my favorite flower or my favorite nail color.
Wonder what my dog is dreaming. Keep cards and keepsakes that people have given me. And just kind of lean into like the cringiness of things in those like cringy moments that you will often find the most joy.
Making a lifestyle out of adding whimsy into your world in just these teeny tiny ways I feel like will literally change your life for the best. Number five is to clean your space just a little bit every single day. This is something that my mom instilled in me growing up and it was to do 15minute nightly cleans.
Now I do them sometimes in the morning or in the evening, but I will always always always set aside just 15 minutes a day to do just a little clean. I'll turn on music or a podcast or an audiobook and make it an enjoyable experience. I'll just tidy up.
It doesn't mean I need to be doing this crazy deep clean every single day. Just a little tidy. And doing this will ensure that your space doesn't become a crazy mess all of a sudden.
I know for myself that I thrive off of a clean space. If my space is feeling super cluttered, it starts just to become very very overwhelming really quickly. um which makes me not want to do any of it, which then just kind of spirals and makes it worse and worse and worse and it's just a terrible cycle.
So, I try to stay out of the cycle completely by basically just like beating the system and staying ahead of it by doing these little cleans. Get outside and build outside time into your routine. Get outside, go for little walks, breathe some fresh air, find nature places that feel good to you.
like literally go in the woods and hug a tree. I promise you, like there's actually something scientific to going and hugging a tree and the way it makes you feel. Whenever I'm feeling super overwhelmed, I love going to my little nature spots and bringing a journal or a book and just listening to the birds and the frogs and soaking in the fresh air, feeling the sun on my face.
Sometimes life feels really crazy and then you get outside and you do that and you're like, "Whoa, I literally just needed to like get outside and sit under a willow tree. Who knew? " Prioritize doing creative things.
Stop being afraid to try creative things. Probably my biggest pet peeve is when people are like, "I'm just not a creative person. " You are.
Okay? Literally, everybody is. If you have thoughts in your brain, you are creative.
Oh, hi. See, she agrees. For myself, you guys know I absolutely love sewing.
I love doing DIYs and different art projects. It has literally changed my life. With ADHD, I feel like oftentimes my brain is just going a billion miles a minute.
I feel very overwhelmed by the amount of things in my brain sometimes. And I feel like slowing down and doing things with my hands, I feel like just allows me to be more present in a way that nothing else does. I feel like in a way it's kind of a form of meditation, just doing things with your hands.
If you can just let go of the idea of perfection, this idea that you need to make things to sell them, I think that you will find so much joy whatever creative endeavor that you follow. And I do think creativity can mean so many different things. For me, you guys know I love sewing.
I love doing little art projects, DIYs, but I also know like for somebody like my boyfriend, he is super into engineering and space and things like that. and watching him build things, I'm like, "Oh my gosh, engineers, they're so creative. " Broadening your idea of what creativity means is so important.
I think it's also really important to like step out of your comfort zone and try new creative things. A couple weeks ago, I decided I wanted to try to play the ukulele a little bit. This is something I used to do when I was younger, but haven't done in so many years.
And now that I'm like thinking about potentially becoming an elementary school teacher, I feel like I really want to know how to play the ukulele and the guitar. I want to try a new creative hobby for myself today, which is the ukulele. Oh my god, some of these are like some of these are so crazy.
How are my fingers supposed to go one, two, and three? Sorry. That can't be how to do this.
[Music] Oh, she's up. The girl's up. Meet everybody.
Hi, sweetie. But adding a creative hobby into your life, I swear, will change your life for the better. We'll be right back.
Lady needs a tree. Prioritize friendships near and far. I feel like in our society, there's just constantly this feeling of like we need to go, go, go, be more productive.
We need to put work above all else. When in reality, I feel like it is truly so important to invest in your friendships. Build a circle.
And when I say friendships, I mean like relationships as well. This could be a relationship with a partner, a relationship with a family member. I know how hard it is to make new friends in your 20s.
Trust me, my closest friends are still the friends that I made in high school that I was honestly like just lucky enough to come across these people that I feel like really get me. The downside to that also is that now as our lives have moved and changed so much, none of us are in the same place anymore. And these are now my longdistance friends.
If you have long-distance friends, I feel like it's even sometimes more so important to invest into those relationships. I really try to call my friends as much as possible. We try to schedule FaceTime dates with all of us if things are super busy.
Even just like sending them a text being like, "Hey, I'm thinking about you. " is so important. Two of my best friends both moved a couple years ago away and so we're long distance now, but they're both here this week and I'm hosting them for the first time.
We've usually always used to go to a different one of their houses, but I'm the last one standing in VT, so I'm the host today. Warm fresh strawberries, radishes, carrots, cucumber, and then we have lemonade, like salts mix here. We have this wine.
I've never tried it before, but it looks pretty good. It looks so cute. I'm really pleased with how it came out.
And we're also getting pizza, so [Music] [Music] health checks. thought was really important to include on the list because it is so important and it is just your reminder to schedule your appointments. Um, personally myself, I'm getting very stressed out about my health insurance because I turned 26 next year and I live in the United States.
I guess this one's kind of like makes my hair makes me want to pull out my hair. But if you're able, schedule health checks. Go to the doctor, go to the gynecologist, go to the dentist, go to the skin doctor.
It is literally so important to just do it. And the last one is mindfulness. This can mean many different things, but I think finding ways for you that work with your schedule, your life, your interests, what motivates you to actually take the time to be mindful and slow down and just be with yourself is really important.
Some ideas for this are like some dedicated time where you maybe are journaling a little bit. Journaling, I feel like, can look really different for lots of different people. Some people like to actually write down thoughts.
Some people like guided journals with certain prompts. Personally, I just love doing brain dumps where I just get things out of my mind onto paper so that I can feel a little bit more at ease in my mind. Things that allow you to be extra present in the moment that are off your phone.
This could be crafting or doing something with your hands like we talked about earlier. some sort of meditation, whether that's a literal a literal meditation that you do or like a yoga class you go to. Finding those extra 20 minutes in the day where you can be by yourself.
I have gotten into a really good habit of listening to audiobooks, but it's still been such a big struggle for me to get back into reading physical books. So, I got this Kindle. It also like tells me like how much is left of a chapter which I feel like really helps my ADHD brain out when I'm reading.
But yeah, I've really been enjoying this. Out for a little walk and I brought this. So figured you should do a little bit of reading.
I think there's so many ways to be mindful but find the thing that works for you where you can really slow down, hear your own thoughts. Okay. And those are your 10 habits that you actually need that will actually change your life.
Even if you can just do like one or two of these things, I feel like you will feel such a big difference. None of these things need to happen overnight. And I think that the most important thing with all of these is just to take the pressure off and realize if you can just incorporate them slowly here and there, you're going to feel so much better.
These are things that I think will come with time and practice. And if you can just start to try to set the foundation now of setting these habits just little bit by bit, they will get so much easier and you will be able to truly commit them into your lifestyle. And lastly, the most important thing I think is to remember that you already are that girl.
These things are just things to help unlock your most happiest, most whimsy self. Take everything I said and adjust it for you and your lifestyle so that it's something that you can actually work into your world. Make it small.
The smallest changes can have the most impact. I love you all so much and I will see you in my next video. Bye.
